The black gem pursed his lips at the other gem words; it certainly looked like he was taking a break, hiding behind him while catching his breath; did maintaining his cloud require effort from him? He guessed it made sense. There were very few active abilities that didn't require any effort from the user, after all.
"Variscite, you are getting your butt handed to you pretty bad." noted the black gem. "If hurting the clone affected Fluorite the same as if his true body was hurt, why would he even use it? Why would he hide himself?"
It wasn't like it took some inhuman amount of effort to figure a couple of things out after seeing the abilities in action for a few seconds. The clone seemed to be able to perceive what it should not have been able to; attacks to which it should have been blinded to where skillfully blocked or dodged. So it was safe to say that blocking its senses was a futile effort.
Humming to himself, he leaned forward a bit, resting his chin on his palm as he did. "It might be better if you start looking for the real thing, Variscite."
Variscite dropped to the ground with a thud as his kick moved threw the violet mist. Laying on the ground for a moment as he thought about what Carbonado spoke of, while on the ground he leaned his legs up then kicked up jumping to his feet slightly hunched over. Slowly pulling his body upright he held a smile on his face and what looked like a bad idea in his eyes.
"My butt handed to me? I haven't even fought the real Fluorite..." He looks towards the pink mist if it was still there and shruged, "No offence of course." He said to the clone with a smile. "Well... if Carbonado thinks im getting my butt kicked its time to stop playing around, yeah?" The tall Gem reaching to the back of his neck to grab hold of a ring that forms into his hand the moment he reached his Gem.
Pulling it out slowly letting the chain links jingle until his arm was almost fully extended, ripping his arm down causing the crystal ball to shatter out from the back of his neck and reformed in the air before pounding off the ground with a very heavy thud. Variscite still held his stupid looking grin across his face, "Lets see if your clone can take a REAL hit from me!" He called out waiting for the clone to reform.
Once the clone was reformed (Or reformed before hand) he would leap toward the clone aiming to bring his ball and chain down over his head and to bash the head of the clone in.
Fluorite frowned at Carbonado's advice toward Variscite, burying his head into his back as he shook his head, "No fair, no fair! Why did you tell him!?" The voice would sound muffled, yet clear enough to be understood. He brought his head back up to catch a glimpse at Varscite. It was time for Fluorite to hurry up and take action before something happens to cause him to lose. He rose from the water and stepped out of the fountain, he carefully watched the tan gem and frowned as he offended his own clone.
The purple gem curiously tilted his head to the side as his opponent slowly began to draw his weapon. Uh oh, time for some real stuff. Fluorite brought his hands together, before strictly setting them apart. A purple light illuminated between his hands as a chain-like sword came into view. This light had also appeared on the purple mist of the clone. Fluorite caught that Varscite was prepared for an attack once he shouted out. That isn't some battle cry you should really be stating out loud, but okay.
The purple mist lightened up, attempting to fade from full view. Varscite and Carbonado could see them light purple mist of they still had their attention on him, not to mention the light within the mist. The cloud floated to cloud Fluorite as dark mist and reformed to the clone with its own weapon ready. "Keep the eye out," they explained as they prepared to avoid the obvious incoming attack of the tan gem.
Together, the clone and Fluorite whipped the swords from both sides. The attack had the purpose to hit Varscite before the ball could hit one of them, as if distracting from the tan gem's attack with two attacks of his own.
"All I did was say obvious stuff." Muttered the black gem whilst supporting his head on his palm, his elbow pressing on his thigh as Fluorite chastised him for his loose lips. "Dude, just take the opportunity and get in the fight." He said flatly, glancing at Variscite as he pulled out his flail. Looks like the tan gem was getting serious, finally.
Fluorite's clone was quick to follow, pulling out a weird sword. Carbonado rolled his eyes; swords. Humans loved those things, for whatever reason, and gem kind was no different, it seemed. It was the most renown weapon, with quite literally hundreds of different variations and utilities. This one looked segmented... a whip blade, perhaps?
Dashing threw the air, the tan Gem was rather unable to change his direction. He had moved too fast and didnt wait to see what the Florite or his clone were doing. He only had one thing he could do in return as he saw the gem and its clone slashing at him from both sides.
"Crap... kinda said I wouldnt do this but..." Once close enough his crystal ball detonated over his head, the force from the boom was enough to knock the tan Gem back away from the two swords, but not far enough away as the clones blade had sliced across his chest slicing threw his under shirt. The crystal shards that shot away from where the ball was in mid air, would stop only a few feet in radius floating in mid-air.
Variscite had slid back away slightly from where they would have clashed, standing up holding his hand over his chest were the slice was with a grin across his face, "Sorry for the boom... it was either that or get cut in half." He shrugged.
Fluorite grinned has he and his clone advanced toward Varscite, everything was going smoothly. To his own amazement, the the tan gem had brought back his ball. What was that for? He quickly thought to himself but shrugged the question off.
Gotc-. Fluorite's thoughts paused as Varscite spoke, "Huh?" before the ball detonated. Thankfully, Fluorite's clone was able to strike the attack on Varscite while the real purple gem had recoiled back. As soon as he landed on the ground, his clone and weapon disappeared in a small beam of light.
"Good... good one..," He muttered breathlessly. Fluorite had assume that the friendly spar had finished, so he just laid on the ground. Fluorite was tired out and using his magical abilities was asking for a heavy punishment on his body.
"If the friendly battle hasn't finished already... I surrender..."
Clapped his hands for the combatants, a simple, praising gesture for short but somewhat entertaining battle. "Not bad, Gentlegems, not bad. It was a jolly good show." He said, imitating a character from a human show he had liked before. Standing up, he dusted his butt off any little pebbles or dust that may have stayed in his jeans, before slowly walking towards them. He was kind of surprised, seeing Variscite get yanked around during the fight. He was under the impression that the tan gem was one of the stronger Crystal gems walking around. Maybe the same could be said about Fluorite?
"You should both go take a dive at the fountain. Should get you right back on your feet in no time, eh."
Variscite leaned down a bit as he dusted himself off, he didnt seem like he was tired out from the fight, almost upset with the outcome of it, "Next time... no holding back yeah!?" He called out with a grin pointing at Fluorite, he wanted to use his main ability during the fight but it might have done far more damage then he would want done to any allied Gem.
He looked over to Carbonado, "Im surprised you didnt jump in at all... even when it was two on one." He said slowly walking towards the fountain, it was indeed good to rest in Roses water after getting hurt... not that he had done it before but he heard heard stories from other Gems. Once close enough he places his hand in the water and runs it across the top layer of water watching the ripples move away from his hand.
The tan skinned Gem was still rather impressed at how the other Gem fought, very much enjoying how tough the clone was. It was good to have him fighting under the banner of the Crystal Gems, never know what Homeworld will throw at Earth.
Fluorite rose to his feet and nodded in agreement with Carbonado, "There's only improvement for me now." He stumbled his way over to the fountain, nearly tripping with his careless strides. "Next time it'll be much more fun now that I know you can handle-" he stopped while in his sentence, elegantly placing himself into the soothing fountain, "-two of myself."
The purple gem embraced the waters and took deep breaths as he calmed himself. "Your abilities are unique and surprising." The explosion of that tan gem's weapon is a weakness for Fluorite and who knows what else he can do. Fluorite had the lower hand, not knowing how he can improve his own skills. "Maybe two of me?" he mumbled to himself.
The black gem simply shrugged, his half lidded expression unchanging. "If I joined in, the fountain wouldn't have survived the ensuing Free for all." He said with a shrug, leaning back on his hands whilst yawning. Glancing down, Carbonado looked at his own reflection curiously, the face that he had always seen before staring right back at him. Before, nothing about it was special, or wrong. It had just been his face. Since coming to Earth, and meeting Amber and Variscite, he had noticed that... it was almost strange, compared to regular humans, or Earth gems.
He didn't blend amongst humans, and it was not only because he was entirely made of shades of black. Everything about him was strange when put next to a human; his anatomy was all over the place compared to a human; he knew, for he had observed plenty of reference both at the beach, the city and magazines. Pursing his lips, the gem slowly stood up, cracking his fingers as he brought an image to his mind. Humming softly in acceptance, he turned to both of the other gems. "I think I will be taking a dip, too." He said softly, his hand raising with his fingers extended... before he suddenly thrusts it into his own neck, piercing through the relaxed projection suddenly.
Almost immediately, his entire 'body' puffed, letting his gem drop into the fountain below for a quick recovery. His intentions were made quite clear when not a few seconds later, the gem started shining once more, raising above the water level. Obviously, the black gem didn't think he needed to think much on his next form. All too soon, the gem's new body started forming, its form solidifying until Carbonado's new body was knee deep in the water.
Varis smiled as he glanced over at Carbonado and nodded in agreement, he was right... if he had jumped in no way was it not going to turn into an all out brawl. Shifting his gaze back to Fluorite and nodded his head, "Yeah that clone trick is pretty cool! Though um... do tell your clone that I am sorry for that crack before.." He wasnt sure how his ability worked, was the clone just an extension of himself or something else all together.
"Thanks... im happy with it, feel like it fits me almost... like it was made for me!" He said with a light chuckle before turning back to look at Carbonado, jumping back from the water as he watched Carbonado thrust his hand into his own neck, and poofing away as his Gem dropped into the water, "Wha?!" He was more confused then normal by this until he watched what followed after.
Once his Gem started to float up from the water and there before their very eyes Carbonado took on a new form, "You still kinda gotta work on this..." He said pointing around his face trying to make a joke.
Fluorite smiled to Varscite before looking to Carbonado, "Yeah, agreed. I also don't think I can keep up with all that either." He eyed as the black gem moved himself toward the waters before taking a his finger and jabbing himself. The purple gem jumped toward his gem, "What was that?!" He frantically slashed at the water until the gem shined.
Fluorite backed away to give him some space as he began to reform and tilted his head at his new figure. "That was terrifying.. Warning next time?" Fluorite calmed his breathing and reminded himself: Of course, Rose's fountain. Maybe it is time I fully pledge to become a Crystal Gem.
"Great to have you back and nice projection," he complimented with a smile and giggle.
Carbonado glanced at Variscite in confusion, not understanding what he meant. "Uh... what?" He asked, gesturing towards his face, the perpetual knitting of his brows and his general unfriendly expression seemingly too much of a norm for him to change. Turning towards Fluorite, he shrugged, offering an apology. "Sorry about that, it was kind of an impromptu decision, really." He excused, scratching the back of his head as he did. He hummed at the compliment, agreeing with the purple gem. He quite liked the image he had thought up in his head. It was less... strange, less within the uncanny valley.
Stretching his arms above his head, he grunted slightly as he walked out of the fountain, kicking his legs slightly to get off any left over drops before turning towards the other two. "You guys all healed up and stuff? I can take my turn now, if one of you is willing."
Varis sighed a bit as his joke flew over Carbonados head, "Your face is still all... nevermind..." He said shaking his head with a smile, he some times forgets that Carbonado was from Homeworld and is still rather new to Earth life and human jokes. Seeing the dark hued gem walk away from the water Varis could guess already he looked ready to fight, "You guys all healed up and stuff? I can take my turn now, if one of you is willing."
Yep... he was ready to go, "Yeah... I guess I could go for another scrap... a REAL one on one fight!" The tan skinned gem called out turning a bit to give Fluorite a smile. He didn't mean anything bad of course, just making a joke that the gem fought in a pair and not alone, totally nothing wrong with that style.
Varis took a few steps to Carbonado as he dusted off his shorts a bit before looking at Carbonado, "Age before beauty, yeah?" He asked as he stood ready, his stance was rather odd. He didn't look ready to defend himself, looked totally open to attack, this was just part of his new found fighting style.
Fluorite moved to the ledge of the fountain, setting himself on it and relaxing as he recovered. He made a small glance toward Variscite as Carbonado was puzzled and then smiled at reply of his compliment. Once the black gem offered for another brawl Fluorite passed on the turn and gestured over to Varscite, giggling. He turned his body away from the waters of the fountain to face the field.
The purple gem's smile shattered at Variscite's insult, "What!?" Fluorite stood and glared at the tan gem, "You think that my abilities and fighting style is a joke?!" He sounded offended and engulfed with rage.
"Rematch! Right here and now, your ass will be handed to again." He assumed into defensive fighting style position. Underestimating my potential... "After all, your fighting style is repulsive!"
