Evidently as the creatures form had become more tangible, physical attack seemed to become more effective. Alex's barrage with his new found weapon had shredded into the face of the creature. Its fury and counter attack indicating that it had down significant damage.
Alex although engulfed with rage had managed to do some quick thinking, the creature had pinned him to the ground yes, but the cushion of air below him had slowed the impact enough to not mortally damage the gems located on his back. Although the barraged was weakening his physical and ability based durability he had not retreated yet. Damaging Alex's eyes, painful as it would be, would not actually put him in mortal danger but would leave him defenseless as he regenerated. It the creature had gone for Alex's exposed gems then the probability of disabling him would of been increased, but either the thought had not occurred to the creature or Thorianite's arrival had delayed it.
The creature moved away as the battle of fusions began, a fusion of shards and a fusion of gems. The attack and assault gave Alexandrite a small window to recover from his own attack. He latched onto his clawed arm, pain lacing up it. It was evident this was not normal shape shifting, but something more sinister that had driven its way to the surface. Regardless it was still a weapon that Alex could exploit and it was the only thing volatile that he seemed to have now.
Stumbling back up onto his feet Alexandrite saw another opening. The shards had just staggered back using the time given to summon his own weapon. Alex had used that time to traverse the gap, yet again leaving a wake of turbulence he pounced upwards, augmenting his jump with the winds as he did. His claw arm extending again he aimed this time for the creatures neck, the tips of his claws were surrounded by spiraling wind, drill like in design there intention to allow further puncturing into the creatures form and perhaps impact a shard.Although Alex wasn't aware of where the shards were located in this creatures body now. He let out another yell as he attacked.
