It was dead silent at the Kindergarten, not a soul dwelled on this soil for a while, but a lone figure walked through the valley, a man in a black trench coat and hat, he had one of those smokey sticks in his mouth, during his study of the gunslinger lifestyle, he had discovered that only the toughest men smoked these 'Que-ben cee-gars', he assumed only real tough folk could smoke these, because they left a horrible taste in his mouth, but he muscled it out, figuratively speaking of course.
He tilted his hat back, his yellow eyes scanned the area for any life, or in this case, gem life. The mission was slightly different from last time, he was not return to Homeworld until he had discovered any form of gem life lingering that could be connected to any criminals. Yellow Amber liked playing cop, but this was asking him to play a bounty hunter. And he wouldn't have taken the mission, had it not been given to him by White Diamond. It's been over three decades now, he's hardly found squat, so he figured he'd take a trip down memory lane and investigate the area he scouted when he first came to Earth last. To many, it looked eerie, more so dead. But to him, this was where it all began... Not for him, of course. He'd be embarrassed to be spawned from such a puny celestial ball of dirt and water. He only admired Earth for it's fighters, generic Hallmark not the scenery.
He kept his eyes and ears vigilant, he wasn't about to miss a single thing.
As long as she made it a point not to wander near the kindergarten after nightfall the area was relatively safe. A little desolate and depressing next to the rest of the bright vibrant landscape of the world, but otherwise harmless. At least that is what the others had told her. Of course despite it's drab exterior it did have one thing of extreme interest to the young gem...parts. All sorts of parts, but of course those of the most interest to her were the lenses the strange drills employed. Pulling open one of the metal frames she leaned inside, struggling to reach the gleaming bit of crystalline glass that she needed for her project. Almost...almost...so close, her fingertips almost brushing it when she heard the crunch of boots on gravel.
Lurching from the machine she spun, putting her back to the metal as Moissanite's eyes widened in shock, scanning the area around her for anywhere to hide in case it was one of those gem monsters she'd been told about...yet before she could decide where to take shelter the creature had already come within sight and it was...
It was...another gem?
Tilting her head in surprise and curiosity she eyed the other gem glancing between him and the still open drill trying to decide. Perhaps he was a friendly gem like Calcite and Mr. O? Maybe he could even help her get the part? Offering the other gem a smile she lifted her hand in a wave. Moissanite was almost the exact image of a diamond, glittering and gleaming brightly even in the dim overcast light of the cliffs surrounding him. Her long sweeping white hair seemed to almost defy gravity, floating and shifting where it trailed down her back like some sort of celestial nova as she eye'd the gem before her. Her eyes, like her hair were a pale white, refractal and mirror bright as she watched him with open curiosity.
Yellow Amber scanned the area in front of him, briefly plucking his cigar from his mouth to blow a puff of a smoke out before returning the cigar to it's spot, he smirked when his eyes locked onto the only other in his field of vision gem, "Well, well, well." He muttered to himself, folding his arms as he approached Moissanite, "What do we have here, now?" He asked aloud, this was somewhat odd, she looked like a Diamond, but everything else about her felt wrong, judging by her mannerisms. To him, Diamonds were stern and straightforward leaders. "Do you have a name, miss?" He asked the gem tilting his head to the side a bit, his cigar smoke blew with the wind towards Moissanite. His cigar twisted in his mouth, once he got name he would move in for the real question.
She wasn't entirely certain if she liked the way this other gem was eyeing her. There was something almost...predatory in his manner and his relaxation seemed to hide a trembling readiness, wound taught almost like a spring. Though she was far from sure just what he was readying for. His assessment of her however, was accurate. She was a pretty thing, dazzling really, but her eyes were wide and innocent, her stance elegant, but far from carrying the sharp commanding edge of a true diamond. Eyeing him in return she considered his question, unsure how much of herself to reveal. Her grasp of language had grown, but she was still far from skilled at employing it.
"Moissanite." She replied seeing little harm in at least sparing him her name as she nodded towards the other gem awaiting his own introduction.
He grinned, tipping his hand, "Well, well, Moissanite..." He said with confidence, he knew this gem wasn't a Diamond, but he wasn't going to simply let his guard down because hem was right. As the top scout and ranger for White Diamond, he had to be ready to pounce at a half-second's notice. He couldn't accept anything less! He folding his arms and let them hang like a rope from a branch, "And my name is Yellow Amber, but you can call me 'Amber' if you want." He told Moissanite, "But enough about me, let's talk about this hunk of dirt we're on, shall we?" He told her.
"Tell me, what do you know about a rebel group to our kind known as 'The Crystal Gems'?" He inquired, "They've been causin' a ruckus so the head honchos up at Homeworld called me in to bring them to justice." He explained.
"Nice to meet you." Moissanite replied remembering what the others had taught her about 'manners.' Well what Mr. O had taught her mostly. Calcite was more on the information side of things and Mr. O on the appearance side. Still her eyes trailed to where he had let his arms fall, trailing up over his form to meet his gaze once more through her visor. However, at the mention of Cyrstal gems and his odd question she couldn't help, but quirk a curious eyebrow. She was sure he was trying to get at something, but she wasn't sure what. She'd never heard of these 'Crystal gems' before though she knew there were supposedly gems out there that might try to hurt her. That exact reasoning however, was why she hadn't wandered far from the warp pad. However, she couldn't be sure if they were one and the same. This Homeworld though sounded familiar, didn't Calcite and Mr. O come from there as well. She wasn't entirely sure she liked him refering to the planet as a 'hunk of dirt,' but it was rude not to respond.
"Nothing." She answered his questioned honestly as to what she knew about the supposed Crystal gems. Then glancing between him and the machine behind her she quirked her head and motioned him close to point within the depths of the metal hulk.
"Help?" Moissanite inquired before hastily adding on a small "Please?" Like she'd been taught as she motioned towards the lens just out of reach within.
Yellow Amber frowned, tipping the brim of his hat over his eyes, "Worth a shot." He muttered, but his determination wasn't diminished by Moissanite's lack of answers, no. If anything, he was suspicious of Moissanite, herself. Amber figured it was time to 'make friends' with this mysterious gem, "Well, well, I reckon since y'said please an' all, ma'am." He says, looking up towards the lense to get a perception of height and distance. "That's what y'need, hm?" He asked, he brought his left arm from the elbow outwards into motion, he spread his fingers outwardly as far as they could go to the point where they were bending back slightly.
The gem in the center of his palm began to glow, which formed into a decent sized, metallic-looking ball, Yellow Amber's grin stretched into a full-on smile, "Nyh h'oh!" He couldn't help himself. as he reeled back, he had to hit the lense from the right angle otherwise this wouldn't work.
"Yes. Please." She replied nodding enthusiastically at his inquiry if the lens was really what she needed. When he stepped close she would lean into the machine, her delicate fingers coming up just an inch short from being able to reach the object. Pulling back she watched to see how he would approach the problem. At the glow of his gem Moissanite's eyes grew wide, watching as the metal ball appeared though she wasn't entirely sure what use the object would have in the long run.
That is until she realized he intended to hit it with it, planning to dislodge the thick piece of crystalline glass with a strike. Waving her hands to try to communicate that this was a bad idea Moissanite readied her own powers just in case. Should he manage to strike the lens and dislodge it without breaking it he would find instead of dropping to the ground that it would float in mid-air, hovering weightless.
Yellow Amber rotated the ball in his hand with his fingers looked closely at the thick glass, Amber wasn't paying attention to M, he'd have to do this just right or'd fall like a brick out a window and shatter. Amber balances the ball on his palm right on top of his gem and suddenly, as if done by an unseen force, the ball starts to spin and within a few seconds the spinning gains plenty of intense speed. Yellow Amber readies his grip on the ball, not breaking the spin somehow, and he gives the ball a small toss towards the glass with signs of it being a curve ball, "I know good an' well already that a full force pitch wouldn' solve much, but I can use the ball to dislodge the glass from it's place of rest with the force of it's spinnin'."
The ball graced the lense with it's touch, the force of the spinning was enough to send the lense flying out. It shot towards Yellow Amber, who caught it with ease, "I reckon you figured it was gonna be a lot worse, eh?" He told Moissanite with a grin, the ball spun off and back into Yellow Amber's free hand, retreating in his palm gem.
Moissanite watched with wide awe filled eyes as Yellow Amber worked. Holding her breath she hoped dearly that the force wouldn't shatter the lens. However, instead of breaking or falling it shot the lens out into Yellow Amber's hand where he caught it. Blinking in surprise she turned towards him nodding quietly in answer to his question. She had indeed thought it could have gone a lot worse. However, beaming up at him in thanks she was very grateful it hadn't. Otherwise she would have been forced to go through all that effort to find another proper sized drill and pry it's paneling off in order to find a replacement.
"Thank you." Moissanite replied polite holding her palm out for the lens as she ducked her head in quiet gratitude.
"It was my pleasure, ma'am." Yellow Amber replied, handing Mossanite the lense, it had been a while since he had gotten to play ball. And he loved every second of it each time he was given the chance to. "In return for such a favor, I'd like to ask you one final question." He suddenly said, Yellow Amber had one last thought on his mind, "Where might a fella' go to find some gemfolk around here?" He asked, spinning his cigar to the other end of his mouth. If this gem didn't have the answers he needed, perhaps some other gems nearby could educate him on the current state of the rebellion that was reported to be lingering about on this rock.
black diamond walked around trying to look for the hidden path that lead to the underground cave system that also lead to a broken warp pad. She was supposed to fix this warp pad for a mission white diamond had given her at a meeting so that the other gems can dispose of the gem shards. She agreed to this since she had nothing better to rather than sit in another boring meeting."I wonder were it oh there it's is" quickly she ran to the entire not wanting to be seen by anyone or anything. Just before she entered she heard two gems talking. Looking around paranoid she tucked and rolled behind a bolder knowing that if she doesn't finish the mission the other diamonds are not going to be happy
Holding the lens up to catch what little dim light filtered into the canyon she smiled to see that the glass was undamaged and exactly what she needed. Pulling a long multi-sectioned brass tube from her bag she carefully slotted the lens into place and lifted her newly made telescope to her eye. Peering through it she beamed at the exquisite detail it allowed her to pick out. At Yellow Ambers question though she slowly lowered the telescope tilting her head as she considered him. She herself had never seen any large settlements of gems and wasn't entirely sure where to send him. To town maybe?
Trying to recall which direction it is she spun eyeing the height of the sun before pointing. "There." She said pointing right at the rock Black Diamond hid behind. Of course Moissanite actually had no idea she was there and was merely indicating what direction the settlement was.
Yellow Amber grinned, tipping his hat he gave the area one final good scan, "Been a pleasure meetin', ma'am." He thanked Moissanite as he plucked the burnt out cigar from his mouth and turned around, "Hopefully we meet up someday, again." He said, "You can call me Yellow Amber, by the way." He added on, he began to walk away. He had a grin on his face the entire time, perhaps he would finally make progress on his mission in finding and dismantling any rebels still on Earth yet, he flicked the cigar to the ground and chuckled to himself, "Nyho-ho-hoooo." He chuckled, his strut was odd, but he walked that the entire time, so it didn't really matter.
He passed by the rock where Black Diamond, he didn't appear to care much for Black Diamond, he tossed them a glance, no words, only a nod. He went on his way.
Melody: how are you doing? Are you going to make a character in here?

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.

*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
