"Rebels?" Before he could get out anymore this gem gave Varis the awnser to the question he was about to ask, "If you haven't noticed, I happen to be a Homeworld Gem. Zircon, Facet 2J7C, Cut 9ZT." Variscite understood just about everything this gem said... not the "Facet 2J7C, Cut 9ZT" bit though.
"Homeworld huh?" A slight grin slowly crawled across his face, his hands gripping around the chain he held, "S-so I know a few gems fr-from Homeworld... they are pretty nice... your one of the nice ones... right?" Varis had made friends with Homeworld gems, Carbide and maybe Amber... even an old friend... one whos name he doesn't want to think of was from Homeworld. "If your here to make trouble for the humans or any of my friends... I WILLend you..." His stutter was gone and his tone was very stern.
While fighting in such a tight space wasn't too good for him... with his ability with his weapon it might not be that good for this Zircon gem either.
"Well that depends. Does trying to contact Homeworld- or Yellow Diamond in specific, count as nice?" He said nonchalantly. He stayed quiet after the next statement. He didn't really know how to respond. He continued looking at the other gem. He still had his sabre out, in case this turned into a fight, which he thought might happen. He was still prepared for a strike.
He continued studying the weapon. There was the possibility of the chain getting caught on something, but the chance was low, and Zircon wasn't the luckiest gem. As he thought earlier, the weapon was heavier. This might also affect the gems recovery time. Of course, even Zircon might have trouble slashing in this small area. He would mostly have to use stabbing attacks.
"Well that depends. Does trying to contact Homeworld- or Yellow Diamond in specific, count as nice?" That didn't sound... bad. It almost sounded like this gem wanted to just... go home? Really nothing wrong with that is there, "Hm... well... y-your not like calling for an in-invasion force or somethin'... right?" He asked as he let go of the chain closer to the ball, and it dropped to the ground with a very loud "THUD!" that echoed threw the halls.
Varis gave the gem a look over... he had a blade, as so many other gems did. A simple weapon but its hard to know what a gems weapon can do, he knew his ball and chain had its own secret. Finding out what this gems sword could do wasn't very high on his list of things to do. Letting out a soft sigh he turned his head to look down the hallway he had came from, "Look... i-if your not planning on hu-hurting anyone then thats good enough for me." He still held his weapon in one hand ready for this gem to try something but... he seemed nice enough right?
"No... Why would I do that?" He responded quickly. "Zircons aren't allowed to contact Diamonds unless it's an absolute emergency. They would just hang up on me immediately. I just want to get home." He dropped his stance, holding his sabre with one hand, the blade pointing to the ground now. "So.. What are you doing here, anyways? Wait, what am I doing here actually.." He said questioning his own motives for why he was here.
"Anyways, what even is this place? I haven't seen it in the archives before. Was there a battle here or something? It's in poor shape." He said, noting the dirty surroundings. Boy did he want to clean this place so badly. Pick up the debris, remake the columns, etc.
"Zircons aren't allowed to contact Diamonds unless it's an absolute emergency. They would just hang up on me immediately. I just want to get home." He isn't aloud to speak to a Diamond? There it was again... Diamonds... from what he already knew they were some form of leadership back on Homeworld. Zircon seemed to be at ease, that was good, it told Varis that avoiding a fight might be easier then he had thought.
"That's odd... you can't c-call for a way h-home because your a uh... Zircon?" No one should get denied being able to go home, that's just cruel! "Its some kind of Temple... I like to th-think that its where all of this... mess started." Varis had no idea what the Temple was really built for, he had the idea in his head that it must have been something like the Temple in Beach City. Just something happened... a battle or some other kind of conflict. Then Varis realized he failed to awnser Zircons other question as to why he himself was here, "I was hunting a corrupt g-gem, kinda lost it I gu-guess... why your here? I have n-no idea..." He mumbled stuffing his free hand into his hoodie pocket, his other hand still gripping the ring to his chain... he was going to just let his guard down that quickly.
"Yeah. I'm a low ranking technician." He said, looking at the ground. He listened to everything else Variscite said. "A corrupt gem? Should we.. Find it?" He was actually terrified of corrupt gems, but he didn't say anything about that. He had let his guard down too. He didn't see the need for a fight anymore, since this gem seemed passive towards him.
He wondered what the corrupt gem looked like, so he asked. "So.. What did this corrupt gem look like?" He was rather curious, and also kinda scared. He was just so small compared to most corrupt gems. They could crush him in an instant if they wanted to. But, he was still curious about them. How did they get like that? Could it be cured? If so, how? Things like that.
Looking around quickly Varis couldn't help but wonder where that snake fellow had run off too, then there was also the corrupt gem he had lost in here, "Y-yeah we should... think you can uh... k-keep up?" He said cracking a smile towards the smaller gem... he had wanted to ask about his funky looking fingers but that might be rude... maybe thats just how some gems from Homeworld are made? Not his place to question really...
"Uh... what it l-looks like? Its... kinda b-big, looked like a snake with wings... really big m-mo-mouth too..." He hated how much he stuttered but... not something he could just fix so easily. Turning around to look away from Zircon he caught a sliver of the tail to the creature... it was making its way out of the Temple! "Quick! Keep up!" He called out as he took of sprinting away from Zircon and follow the winged snake gem threw a hallway that was leading to the outside of the Temple.
He nodded, sprinting after him, saber in hand. He looked at the hallway as he was running.. And the floor. And ahead of him. Lots of stuff to look at, not a lot of time. He looked in front of him. He was somewhat caught up to Variscite, but only because he was sprinting as fast as he could. This was a surprisingly long hallway. His saber was pointed slightly downwards so he didn't poof himself.
He looked around again as he ran, hopping over a small pile of rubble. Small rocks and pebbles scattered as he landed, as well as a small dust cloud. He kept sprinting forward. Upon catching up to Varis, he slowed down slightly, but continued running, waiting until Varis stopped.
His sprinting had came to a sliding stop as they came to the final turn where the rather large beast, around the same size as the snake gem from early just... bigger mouth and some nasty sharp looking wings. "SWWWWAAAAAAAA!" It screamed towards them from the corner of the room it was couched in before lunging into the wall across from it with enough force to burst threw the wall, its wing scaring part of the wall as it made its exit. The walls crumbling slight as the room rumbled from the shift in pressure from the new void part of the wall.
"Ugh! Th-they always run..." He grumbled as he nodded towards Zircon and followed after the beast.... not looking before he leaped Varis had jump hoped out of the whole and realized they were pretty high up... "Pffft!" was all he could get out before dropping like a rock. At that time something so lucky might never happen again, as the corrupted flying serpent flew under Varis in time for him to latch onto the tail of the creature, making it shake and started to drop towards the land. Variscite had originally grabbed onto the tail with one hand but quickly wrapped his chain around the tail, the ball part dropping off and plummeting into the ground below.
Once the creature had dropped low enough Varis let go and dropped to the ground from around fifteen to twenty feet, and rolled as he landed to a stop. He glanced back up looking a the fail he just avoided, "W-wow... that was lucky..." He mumbled hoping Zircon had some fast way to get down here... or maybe had some kind of ranged weapon he could use from up there. Either way, the corrupted monster was making a second trip back to the hole to see if Zircon had stuck around.
Zircon had stuck around, but as he saw the creature fly back, he turned his left arm into a blaster, and charged a shot, firing ahead, hoping to hit a wing. He missed, and it hit a pillar, cracking it slightly. He then charged 3 smaller shots and fired them as well, one hitting it's body, and the other 2 flying off into the sky. This just seemed to make the creature angrier. He then turned his arm back to normal, and as the monster flew towards him, he sliced downward, hoping to catch it's wing and cause it to fly into the ground. As he flew, his blade skimmed it, but did no real damage, Zircon prepared for it to come back, but it went after Variscite again. He ran after it, and leaped, like Varis had. He had barely caught it by the tail, since it hadn't flow fast enough, but he quickly lost his grip, sending him into the sky. He tumbled for a second, dropping his sword because of this, and turned his right hand into a helicopter hand thing. He stabilized himself, and summoned a new sword in his left hand instead.

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
