Meta Autunite sat. She'd been doing a lot of that lately. It wasn't depression, or anything like that. Not by human standards, anyway. It was just what a Gem as old and cluttered with her own thoughts tended to do in the absense of company.
That was a lie. There'd been plenty of company, and she darn well knew it. Traveling Gems and curious Gems and vagabonds and those in need of shelter. All flocked to the Temple. Not all, or even most stayed, but the place was seldom without activity.
No. She was just, as a certain someone had once said a very long time ago, "an antisocial clod". There had also been a bit about bad hair and delusions of grandeur following that, as she recalled. The memory prompted a small smile from the Gem, who sat at her makeshift computer terminus nestled around the Temple's glowing heart.
A small blue gem found himself on the outskirts of Beach City. He'd never been around this area, he wouldn't have thought to go this far out of his way to find something like this. Ahead of him stood a beautiful statue of some sort of gem looking towards the stars and out towards the horizon. At it's base he noticed the hands cupped around the entrance, is if it was protecting it out offering some sort of safe haven. He entered and viewed the are around him, there was a large warp pad and a door with more gems than he could count. This place struck him as sacred, like it was as old as the planet itself. He reached out and felt his gem connecting with the ancient gem technology as the door slid open to reveal a large warm room filled with floating bubbled gems. As he entered he spotted the massive gem sitting by herself by what looked like a computer. Without hesitating he walked over to the gem and sat down in front of her, on the other side of the computer terminal. As usual he had a smile plastered on his face, "Hello there. I'm Agate!" He peeked over the monitor in order to actually see her, "Mind if I ask you about this place? I've never really been here before." He didn't exactly mind that he was interrupting whatever she was doing on her terminal.

The warp pad suddenly flashed and Fuscite appeared, standing still for several moments before stepping off of the blue pad. He'd never been in this place before. The old gem hadn't really gotten used to the warp pads yet, and honestly preferred physical travel to this. But,seeing as how these things were essentially a highway to all of the essential structures, Fuscite had decided to try them out occasionally. But this area, he had never seen. The helmet slowly rotated as if it were a bust on a pedestal, taking everything in. Once he was done, he walked over to the wall and went up it, stopping on the ceiling. As he did so, Fuscite rolled the cape up so it hung just behind where he wore it, in a small rolled-up bundle. Once he was sure the cape was secure, Fuscite began walking across the ceiling, where his attention was caught by dialogue between a voice he had heard before and someone new. The green gem strolled across the ceiling towards the source of the voices, hoping the blue gem from the arena had any idea where he was.
Agate listened to Meta as she gave her speech on the sanctity of the temple and how it was important to the 'Crystal Gems'. "Nice to meet you Meta. I'll be honest, I only have the foggiest idea who the Crystal Gems are, and no clue who this 'Rose' is. Though I suppose she sounds important, to be the leader of this place" He looked around the room, the bubbled gems shined in the light of the glowing pit in the center of the room. The whole room was a thing of beauty. He with Meta and watched her greet a familiar looking gem. "Fuscite?" He followed shortly behind Meta back towards the door and the oddly armored gem. He seemed to have a knack for running into this gem lately.

Fuscite continued walking along the ceiling as he approached the two. Looking primarily at the blue gem, he eventually switched his gaze over to the tall gem. He, unlike Agate, hadn't heard Meta Autunite's little spiel and only stopped when the tall gem questioned him. He just stood silently stood there, looking at the talk gem with his head slightly tilted. When the blue gem spoke his name, he once again looked at the blue gem. He remembered his name now; Agate, he thought. Fuscite. He was friends with the young scout, so he could be trusted. Hopefully. Well, since the tall gem's question was answered, Fusxite began walking again, looking around the room he was in, stopping above the terminals, the helmet reflecting what was on the screens as the old explorer gazed at them.
Meta frowned upwards, and she tapped the nails of one hand peevishly against the transluscent hard-light terminal she stood next to.
"You know him?"
She flickered her gaze to agate, violently green eyes probing for a brief moment before returning to Fuscite.
"I'm not entirely sure I care for his manners."
She sighed quietly, shifting her gaze to Agate. She wasn't keeping an eye on Fuscite, but her ability to sense energy allowed her to keep track of him just fine. In the temple's power-core, which positively glowed, anything else was like a shadow. A cool negative-image that moved about on the edge of her retinas. She'd know if he made any problematic moves.
"And yes, Rose Quartz was a very important Gem. Not because of some arbitrary hierarchal standard enforced by Homeworld, but because she made people think. And she cared about everyone. Not just those she could use to achieve her goals."
Agate watched as Fuscite ignored the two of them and examined the room. He had an odd feeling, as if he was guilty for bringing the gem here. The place didn't seem to hold much importance for him, he was walking around as if it was a museum. Sure, Agate really had no clue why it was so special but it was clear it was special. He shrugged, "I don't know him that well. Though I never forget a name. I had no clue he was following me here actually, I've just been exploring gem sites lately." He looked back at Meta, having to look upward just to maintain eye contact, "Well, even though I've never met her I'm sure she was a fine gem. And you clearly have a lot of respect for her." He paused to think, eyeing Fuscite again to make sure he wasn't getting into trouble. For some reason he felt responsible for him, "So if you're the guardian of this place, you have a pretty good idea on it's history and what not. Would you mind filling my in on the details? Like I said, I'm not exactly knowledgeable on these 'Crystal Gems' you see." Although he could probably already hear them Agate spoke up just to make sure, "Maybe you'd want to listen in, seeing as you're so inquisitive Fuscite?" He returned his attention back to Meta, hoping for some sort of answer on this place, and maybe it would give Fuscite some sort of appreciation for it.
"History? Oh. Well. I'd be glad to tell you as much as I know. I'm afraid I wasn't here for everything."
Meta Autunite cracked a stiff smile, moving the hand tapping on the console to her waist.
"This temple was one of the first monuments to our kind, built nearly as soon as we set foot here. It didn't look quite like this, though. It was originally a monument to the Diamonds, and it served as Rose's.... Well... Home is the wrong word. You seem young. At the very least, you obviously don't know much about our native culture. I suppose the term "temple" was appropriate even then. Except it wasn't a temple to Rose or the ideal she built, in those days. It was a boon granted to her by the Diamonds. She lived here, but it was as much a symbol of the Diamonds themselves as it was of Rose. In everything they did, they demonstrated their own power and glory. Such was the case here."
Meta gestured with her other hand as she spoke, but moved it to her waist as well as she paused, before pacing a step and shifting both behind her back.
"As time went on, Rose started to have doubts about the ethics of... Agate? Do you know what we were going to do to this planet? We were going to kill it, and everything on it. Not now. Forever. When we had what we wanted, there would be no Earth. And Rose saw ugliness in that. She began to gather sympathetic individuals, first and foremost her own Pearl- A Pearl! And then others. Rose was eventually found out. She fled the temple before it could be razed, and operated from afar for a time. Here and there, she gathered new followers. In time she, she had the strength to match her courage, and waged open war on Homeworld forces. The temple was destroyed and defaced during the fighting, and thought the Crystal Gems, for that is what they-- we -- dubbed ourselves, eventually succeeded in driving our sisters off this world, there were very few of Rose's followers left to celebrate in the end. It was a pyrrhic victory."
Meta paused for a long moment, saying nothing, expression entirely blank.
"But you can't kill an ideal. Those few who were left rebuilt the Temple, and erected a new monument above the entrance. Alexandrite. A tribute to the indominable spirit of Rose Quartz, and every brave Gem who followed her. A celebration of victory, and a grave marker for every hero who died paving the way."
Meta's face trembled slightly.
"I... Didn't fight. Not when it counted, anyway. I thought-"
'I thought I was too important. That I was above the conflict. So now, I do my best to atone for the evil of inaction. I watch over this temple, and I watch over this town, as much as I can, and I see to it that no one breaks the peace so very many died for."

//OOC: Not sure whether to wait or post since Meta skipped me but I'm doin it anyways.
Fuscite looked away from the screens at Meta as she talked about the temple and it's past. She was a rebel, and apparently others were as well. He understood that this planet has things special to it, but for this group to shatter other gems? Apparently he had missed a war while he was out among the stars. They fought against the Diamonds.. And won. Granted, who the Diamonds actually were was a bit fuzzy to him, but he was fairly sure that these were the same Diamonds that Jadeite had served under. Guscite wondered how much Homeworld had changed in his absence, and if his mission had been any good. But for a Pearl to rebel? Pearls only obeyed their masters, which probably meant that this Rose Quarts was one of the Diamonds. But which one? Could Jadeite have been workin for this Rose Quarts before she rebelled. He decided to see how the tall gem reacted to the Diamonds, which Jadeite had confirmed were the actual Diamonds. So Fuscite once again projected a large rectangle and showed the Diamonds in the stands above the runway where he and his brothers were, and held the image there. "Rose Quarts...Pearl...Diamond. Rebellion, Revolution... Diamond?"
Agate listened, a little in awe. This building held a new meaning for him as he learned the story of the Crystal Gems. He stiffened a bit when she mentioned the planned destruction of Earth, remembering a conversation with a friend of his. He knew he shouldn't but he felt guilty for coming from the Kindergarten. He was a physical representation of the partial death of the entire planet. A pebble in a mountain of mistakes. He smiled sadly to himself, but stayed silent as Meta continued. It was apparent she felt guilty about her inaction so he spoke up, "Well, at least you're doing something now. You lived and now you can protect the planet now, like this Rose Quartz did." He gave her a smile, his word probably didn't mean anything as a stranger, but he meant it.
He turned towards Fuscite, at least he was paying attention. Though he seemed off in his own world now. He was viewing some sort of projection, rambling about 'rebels' and 'diamonds' and all sorts of things he didn't fully understand. Though he seemed to take an interest in Rose and her rebellion, maybe some sort of memory triggered? He kept an eye on him, it was possible he wasn't entirely stable. Or worse, he may be corrupted. To think if he had led a corrupted gem into this place, truly awful. But hey, what were the odds right?
Meta Autunite smiled at Agate's suggestion, in the away that one who thinks a statement is naive but incredibly sweet is apt to do. Then she turned her eyes to Fuscite's projection, furrowing her brow as she listened to his rather awkward speech.
So that was why he hadn't responded. Some kind of defect, maybe? She did her best to think of something that would answer his rather vague questions. She supposed she ought to simply cover as many possible permutations of what the Gem's queries could have meant as possible. It wasn't like he could call her dense in reply.
"Yes, Fuscite, Rose rebeled against the diamonds themselves. During the war, Blue Diamond personally occupied the world for a time, and Yellow Diamond dispatched massive quantities of military personell and hardware to quell the rebellion. It was a disastrous embarrassment to the Diamonds' authority. I cannot say whether there was any sort of wider revolution offworld as a result. I rather doubt it, seeing as Rose and presumably many of the remaining Crystal Gems sacrificed themselves to prevent Homeworld from returning through the Warps. And yes, a singular "Pearl" was foremost among Rose's entourage, though there were certainly others. She was a talented fighter, a keen mind, and she loved Rose Quartz more than life itself, not out of some programmed allegiance, but out of heart.
She was also a stuck-up little shit with a death-wish, but that's beside the point."

Fuscite closed the projection and thought for several moments. So the worlds he had scouted out and deemed appropriate for gem life would be destroyed. This partially troubled him, seeing how passionate these rebels were about this hunk of rock. Would that mean war would divide Homeworld over their expansion? Fuscite looked at the yellow diamond on his chest. So Yellow Diamond handled the military, the old gem thought. He was military. Were he and the other Fuscites the pre-emptive death of the planets they visited? His attention was brought away from that and on to something else. Love. Apparently the Pearl had loved this Rose Quarts. Fuscite wasn't exactly sure what love was. Granted, he wasn't made to feel. He was made to die. But he hadn't died, not yet at least. "Love?" Fuscite spoke up."What...is this... Love you speak of?"
Agate began viewing the room as Meta explained in greater detail to Fuscite about the war. He didn't exactly like what he was hearing. From the sounds of it, it was a long and awful war with a lot of gem death. A few months ago he wouldn't have believed such a thing possible, but now he'd learned better. He paced around the room admiring all of it's features. The lava pit in the center was interesting, he wondered if it was some sort of gem tech or if they were over a volcano or something. Then there was the collection of gems just overhead. Were they all corrupted, or just prisoners of war? He tried not to think about that and starting viewing all the other little details when Fuscite spoke up, 'What...is this... Love you speak of?' He stopped, a little shocked. He'd never truly felt it himself, but he understood the concept. Did he really not know what love was? "Maybe you can explain this one Meta..." Agate was far from a teacher, and for whatever reason he felt awkward talking about the subject.
Meta brought her hounds out in front of her, steepling her fingers together at hip-level as she abruptly paused in her pacing.
"Love can be a lot of things. Overarchingly, however, love is the appreciation and pursuit of another person or concept, not to better one'self, but for the sake of one's devotion and sometimes in order to better the target of said feelings."
Meta unlaced her hands and glanced back at her computer-terminal for longer than was necessary, as if something important had come up. Nothing at all had in fact come up.
"Love can be having your life and knowing exactly you want. And then you see another Gem and you.... You realize you don't want any of that. You just want to make that Gem happy. You want them to look at you and be happy. And... You'll do anything for that,"

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
Orginal Opening Plot Here Thread That Changed Everything
Differances Between the Roleplay and the Show
*Thanks to Rose Quartz' message the Gems on Earth are entirely aware that the Homeworld Gems intend to wipe out the human race.
*The "corruption"'s Origin is still unknown, some suspect it was a viral infection, other claim it was a Diamond experiment gone awry and other suspect the organics were behind it. Regardless no one seem to have a proper answer about what it was and why its only isolated to Earth
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
