A tall, red gem stood inside the ancient Sea Spire. She was never around when it was made, but she remembers it clearly from ages ago. She was never really allowed there, gems like her weren't made to socialize. Still, the place reminded her of how things used to be, of a time gone by. The place didn't exactly age well, but it still stood at least. As much as she tried to pretend otherwise, all the cracks and broken masonry reminded her where and when she was. She let out a sigh, "Ya, I know. We can get going soon. Just... one more minute" She was seemingly talking to herself, as no one else was around her.
The Spire appeared to be empty, a rarity now days, but that was just how she liked it. No gems to disrupt her or get in her way. She stood there for another long minute, reluctant to leave the relative peace of the Spire. Eventually she did turn around towards the stairs leading down to the exit, "Alright, alright. We'll get going before someone else shows up." She took one last glance around then started towards the stairs.
"Hm... th-this place is kinda creepy..." Mumbled the 6 foot gem as he made his way threw the halls of the Spire, he honestly felt this place must have been really nice before it became almost a ruin. As he stepped threw the halls he wasn't really hiding his movements... he felt like this place was all but empty when he arrived. Figuring he could go for a snack, it was time to leave the Spire and head back to town.
Walking threw the hall leading to where the closest exit he could find... he heard someone, "Alright, alright. We'll get going before someone else shows up." "We?" Was there more then one gem here? "Crap.... this could be a drag..." He mumbles... Homeworld gems have been becoming more active... never a good thing. Turning the corner to see another rather tall gem... but they looked like they were alone... who was this we they spoke of? Making the decision to hope this gem wasn't here to fight he speaks, "Uh.... a bit late for th-that... I showed up." He spoke in a rather hushed tone, not speaking too loudly but enough for this gem to maybe here him. Variscite had his hood pulled up over his head there is a good chance whoever it was he had found might even think he was a human, wouldn't be the first time that happened.
Pyrope stopped at the top of the stairs, almost jumping out of her skin. The quiet voice caught her entirely off guard, causing her to immediately turn around and start summoning her weapon. Half-way through summoning her sword/hammer, or 'Slammer' as she liked to call it, she spotted the owner of the voice. Not only was it not a corrupt monster, it didn't even appear to be a gem. She let the staff part of her weapon recede back into her gem and sighed, a little embarrassed that she let such a weak thing scare her like that. After wiping a hand across her face she glares at the human ahead of her and spoke, not even bothering to step closer, "What exactly do you think you're doing here? How did you even manage to get here! This is a special gem structure, not fit for... you..." She crossed her arms, just below her cracked chest-gem, and scowled at him. He training kicking in, even after all these years. What right did one of these humans have to even see this place?
"What exactly do you think you're doing here? How did you even manage to get here! This is a special gem structure, not fit for... you..." Varis had one thought right away, "Really? Not meant for a gem huh?" But then it hit... she figured he was a human, this might work out well for him, "Gem structure? I ha-have no idea what you mean... I j-just like come here because its all..." He paused for a moment and glanced around, "Really neat l-looking."
"I told you why im here... r-return the favor?" He stuffs both hands into his hoodie pocket, he wanted to keep looking like a human but... he also wanted to come out and say he was a gem... playing human may be harder then he first thought! He had taken a few more steps closer to her, looking her up and down and tried to put on a curious look on his face.... something was odd about this gem... he just couldn't place it.
Pyrope keep her eyes on the human, keeping her face a mask of disgust, but secretly she was starting to worry if there were others around. Humans may be a inferior species, but they could be dangerous in numbers. Her attention snapped back as he started getting closer, "Stop right there, stay away from he- me!" She raised her hand to her gem, stopping just short of summoning her weapon. She took a deep breath, calming down slightly, "Just... stay still, alright? Alright." She crossed her arms again and thought about what exactly to do with him. So he had no idea what gems were, which wasn't exactly abnormal for humans she figured.
She let out a annoyed sigh, "This place is a sacred building for my people, gems. And as such you shouldn't be here, no matter how beautiful it is. Although... it is rather nice... Better than anything you humans could ever achieve." As she spoke she turned and looked around the room, letting her guard down just long enough to admire the scenery again. "I came here to be alone. But obviously that didn't happen." She turned and glared at him again, "So how about I do my job and escort you out of here, alright." She phrased it like a question, but her tone made it clear it was more of a command than anything.
Varis jumped slightly when she raised her hand and commanded him to stay away from her, was she scared of humans?! I mean... a single human can't really put up a fight with a normal gem. If a few more were around they might have the ability to do something, also some of the tech humans created was pretty scary. "Just... stay still, alright? Alright." he raised both hands up to show he was going to do what she said, "O-ok! Sorry..." He spoke and mumbled his apology.
"Sacred? Huh.... I could s-see that... you sh-should see what humans b-built in other parts of the uh... world." Varis had traveled all over Earth and knew some of the very interesting things humans have built, giant towers and other wonders... maybe this would help him better to appear human? "Wait... your g-gonna escort me out? Uh..." Varis thought this could be fun as he takes a step away from her, "I kinda li-like it here..." Before taking a few more steps back before turning and starting to walk away... ready to sprint down the hall if Pyrope was planning on giving chase.
Pyrope arched an eyebrow, slightly annoyed he would suggest any human structure could even compare to such gem majesty. She was further upset by him just... walking off. She was almost stunned for a moment, of all things she wasn't expecting the human to just... leave. After a second she regained her composure and shouted after him, "Hey! Stop right there!" She started chasing him, noticing he broke into a run immediately after she started after him. She grumbled to herself and pulled her weapon from the gem on her arm, summoning forth a large warhammer with a blade at the end of the staff like a spear.
She could have simply thrown a kinetic blast at him, but she figured he couldn't get too far ahead of her. After all, he was only human. She kept her pace up, holding the hammer in one hand just in case she was running into some sort of trap. Pyrope wondered to herself why she cared so much as to put herself in danger like this, perhaps her training was more embedded than she thought. The idea of this lesser race having free roam of the Spire was one she couldn't stomach, she made sure to pick up the pace. If possible she would just grab or tackle the human, unless he pulled a weapon. Then it'd be either her life or his. An easy choice.
"Hey! Stop right there!" Yep this turned into a chase... this might be kinda fun honestly! Turning a corner quickly not trying to run too fast as to where she might not think him human, he glanced back in time to see her make the turn... and with giant hammer in hand! "Whoa! D-do you really need that thing?!" He calls out still dashing down a hall, he was only able to run so far before getting kinda lost and not knowing which hall to take.
Getting to a cross path of hallways he stopped for a moment as he tried to think which was the the correct path, turning just in time to see Pyrope was right behind him, "Crap!" He quickly takes off down a hallway that he had no idea where it was leading to. Pyrope was starting to get even closer now, she was pretty quick on her feet, while he was looking back he had no idea he was running toward a ruined part of the Sea Spire. Looking back just in time to see the path was ending and leaving a giant hole in its wake.
Not having enough time to stop and no where for him to jump to he tried to stop and only slipped back and fell into the hole grabbing onto the ledge quickly with both hands but... as soon as he grabbed onto the ledge he lost his grip and dropped down about 40 to 50 feet before hitting the next level of the spire, hitting the ground with an loud "Thud!" he landed on his right side and only rolled onto his back with his eyes shut... his head was throbbing and his whole body was tired and now sore from all the running and falling.

Fuscite was somewhat startled when a loud THUD suddenly rang out from behind him. Putting down the various scrap he had been collecting from the structure, the old gem turned to face the source of the sound, weapons at the ready. He was surprised, again, to see Variscite on the floor. Fuscite strode over to the gem and knelt down beside him, looking up to see the hole he had fallen through. Returning his gaze to Variscite, Fuscite tilted his head to the side. What had been chasing him to have him fall like that? Fuscite picked up Variscite and hoisted him over his shoulder. He obviously wasn't getting up by himself right now. A Holo-Fuscite appeared and grabbed the scrap before hurrying to follow the real Fuscite.
Pyrope watched the human like a hawk, refusing to let him lose her down a corridor or around a corner. He was fast, but she was faster. No human could even think to keep up a gem's speed or reflexes. As she turned down the hallway, almost close enough to tackle him she saw him suddenly slip and fall. She screeched to a halt, stopping just a few inches from the hole. She looked down at the human laying flat on the ground, a good fifty feet down. And he was moving? If there was one thing Pyrope knew about humans is that they were inferior to gems, and there was no way one could live from that fall onto solid ground. They were squishy, mortal creatures that could die just from a 'illness'. What surprised her even more was the fact a gem showed up. Not only was it a gem, he was helping the human! On top of that he was holding what looked like scraps collected from the temple. She grumbled through gritted teeth, "Scavengers..." If there was one thing she hated more than humans interfering with gem business, it was gems desecrating ancient structures. The gem was probably some young pebble from the local Kindergarten. Probably didn't even have a clue how important this place was to their history.
Her eyes narrowed, there was no way a gem was going to get away with both scrapping this sacred place and helping a trespassing human. She braced herself and jumped down the hole as the two of them were leaving, landing on her feet with her hammer in hand. Even to a gem the fall may have staggered them, but she dispersed the kinetic force behind the fall so the force was distributed all around her. She looked up at the gem and his hologram, eyes lit like flames, "Get back here you thief!" She braced her legs and grabbed her hammer in both hands, bringing it back and swinging it as if there were an enemy right in front of her. As she completed her swing a force as fast as on arrow flew towards her target, the gem holding a human, and would slam with the same impact as her swinging the hammer up close. She was hoping he would be hindered by holding the human, but even so he might be quick enough to dodge it. As such she followed up her attack by breaking into a run, hoping to close the distance before he could get anywhere close to a warp.
"Uhhhhh.... what a dr-drag..." He mumbles to himself softly... his head was throbbing and his body felt like when he had been trampled by that Rhino gem so long ago. He was about to start pulling himself up when he... was picked up and thrown over an armored shoulder? What? Who could have picked him up? Was it... the gem from before? He slowly opens his eyes to see some funky green armor... this was NOT the gem from before but who could it be?
Thats when another sound made him twitch and want to try and jump away, he glanced towards where it came from to see Pyrope with hammer in hand! Having little time to act he wrenches himself away from whoever it was that was holding him, standing between the unknown armored gem and Pyrope, "W-wai...." It was too late as the blast of energy Pyrope had sent flying towards them hit Varis at full force sending him flying as his body skipped off the ground and slammed into a wall with a loud and kinda... unsettling sound is made.... the sound of a crack...
Varis had hit the wall back first, his gem cracking across its face.... his body seemed to distort for a moment as he had no idea what was happening... he wanted to cry out in pain but... talking was hard, even trying to move was hard. He had never cracked his gem before... or even see another cracked gem. He layed on the ground face down, his eyes wide open as he tried to understand what was happening to him.

Fuscite let Variscite go, spinning on his heel as he turned to face whatever had the gem so panicked. He adeptly leaped out of the way as Variscite was thrown back, flinching a bit as he hit the wall and heard a crack. Fuscite had heard that sound before. He turned to face the offender, a rather large gem with a hammer. He was pissed. Summoning his blades on both hands, the Holo-Fuscite dropped the scrap and did the same. As Fuscite glared at this red gem through his visor, the yellow diamond emblazoned on his chest was very visible. But it soon became distorted as Fuscite's armor began shifting to match the surroundings. As he did so, Fuscite began running in a fairly wide circle around this gem as a Holo-Fuscite rushed up to distract her. A pissed off hologram ain't exactly easy to fend off, ya know. Fuscite had to dispose of this gem first before he could check on Variscite. He hoped he didn't crack too badly. If he did... Pyrope is gonna have a bad time.
Pyrope continued to follow through her attack at full speed, not expecting it to have such a... visceral effect. The human was clearly confused, stopping right in the path of her swing. She flinched as he went flying, slamming against the wall with a sickening crack. She wasn't exactly aiming for him, an unfortunate casualty in war. She wouldn't lose any sleep over it, but it felt like an empty victory. She also noticed the other gem's suit had the unique symbol of the one and only Yellow Diamond. Was this... a fellow Homeworld gem? Pyrope thought back to the human, she probably broke ever bone of their... His body glitched and contorted like a gem would. It all made sense in an instant, how he had access to this place, how he could survive such a fall. She had been chasing a silly Earth gem for no reason. An innocent gem... "I had no idea," she mumbled as if talking to herself, standing still for a few moments, "It's irrelevant, we have a bigger-" The few seconds of hesitation were all it took for the holo-Fuscite to close the distance between them. She managed just barely dodge his initial attack, taking a step backwards and swinging for the hologram.
The gem was quick, she had to give him that. Though she wasn't just any old gem, she was built for combat like this. She continued dodging around the hologram, a few blows striking her but leaving only minor wounds. She swung a few times herself, hoping to smash this impostor and to move on from this. She spoke up after delivering a blow, "Hey! Get out here and face me! I didn't know that was a gem, or if they are a friend of yours but-" she ducked her head just in time to avoid it getting cut off, "I'm from Homeworld. We're allies!" She jumped backwards as to afford herself a few seconds to gather herself before lunging forward, using the blade at the end of her hammer like a weighted spear. Either she'd have to finish this fight quickly, or make friends even faster.
"Wh-wha..... what is... th-this..." echoed threw his mind... Varis had no idea a gem could crack but that sound... it had to have something to do with his gem. He had been just trying to think about... being there. Just... holding himself together the best he could, his projection crackling with distortion every few moments. A few things happening around him became apparent, a fight had broken out that was for sure. Also that gem that picked him up... why? Who were they? Variscite didn't really get the chance to look at them.
"Hey! Get -ut h-e and face m-" was something he heard... also "I'm f-om H-eworld. We're all-" and that was it.... something to do with Homeworld but... he didn't care what side either gem was on... he wanted help. To know what was happening to him, "St.... Stop! Just.... sto...stop!" His voice was trembling, he had pushed himself up to a sitting position with his back to the wall, hiding his cracked gem. "Why... does i-it feel.... like the wor...world is ending..." Talking was weird... like his voice was stretching across his whole body before being said... it was so strange.

Fuscite, his armor having finished shifting camouflage, now was almost invisible to see. The Holo-Fuscite kept the red gem distracted, and at bay while he himself took to the flanks to quickly dispose of this opponent. He looked over at Variscite. He didn't look too good. "I'm from Homeworld. We're allies!" Fuscite wasn't sure who she was addressing. The red gem certainly wasn't his ally. Affiliation with Homeworld or not, they were definitely NOT allies. The Holo-Fuscite began gazing out when another hologram burst in from the left. The holograms kept switching off their assaults like some kind of baton pass race. While they struck from the front, Fuscite himself ran up from behind, leaping up into the air and letting gravity propel him towards his target in a dive, the blades aiming for center mass.

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
Orginal Opening Plot Here Thread That Changed Everything
Differances Between the Roleplay and the Show
*Thanks to Rose Quartz' message the Gems on Earth are entirely aware that the Homeworld Gems intend to wipe out the human race.
*The "corruption"'s Origin is still unknown, some suspect it was a viral infection, other claim it was a Diamond experiment gone awry and other suspect the organics were behind it. Regardless no one seem to have a proper answer about what it was and why its only isolated to Earth
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
