Name: Abalone
Appeared Gender: Female
Appeared Age: 30-ish
Gemstone: Abalone (Brief Explanation: While technically the word 'abalone' pertains to one type of creature the material comes from, I chose it because: 1) I thought it sounded better than Nacre and 2) Calling her 'mother of pearl' would be strange and confusing. Especially since she has no connection to Pearl at all.)
Gemstone Location: Chest
Corrupted: No
Appearance: She is very pale and light reflects off of her very easily. She is tall and thin. Her eyes are clear blue and her white hair reaches her shoulders. She usually wears the standard uniform prescribed to her Gem type (just because she's cut all ties to Homeworld doesn't mean she can't wear it. It's surprisingly comfy). It consists of a white robe reaching her knees and black boots and gloves. A White Diamond resides on the front, just above where a human of equal size has its heart (if she joins the Crystal Gems this can turn into a star if she has to reform for any reason).
Personality: Abalone is very prim and proper until she finds something that interests her. During these moments she is prone to squealing, giggling, and rambling. The rambling also occurs when she is unsure of herself or her surroundings. She is also very protective of those she has taken in as charges and will not hesitate to defend them. This sometimes puts her in trouble. If confronted about her past she tries to deviate from the subject and, if repeatedly hounded, can clam up and ignore the interrogating Gem. If the subject is still approached she can get very nasty.
Likes/Dislikes:
Soft things (pillows, humans, snow), fluffy things (cats, hamsters, lions) and the sea are all things she likes. Contrasted by a dislike of hard things (metal, stone, hail), sharp things (spikes, fangs, bladed weapons), cruelty and bloodlust.
Fears: Corruption (she is perfectly aware of how terrible her powers would be if she couldn't control them), being taken back to Homeworld (she didn't exactly part on agreeable terms) and spiders (sort of just freak her out).
Weapons: As she is not a fighter Gem she has no lethal weaponry, only a stun stick that can cause electric shock. She is also a great improviser.
Ability 1: Aura of Serenity: All Abalones emanate an aura of calm and peace that affects those around her. Intrinsically connected to her mood, it grows weaker when during negative moods and grows stronger during positive moods. Extreme cases of negativity can reverse the effect and make people around her even more aggressive.
Ability 2: Mindscape Guidance: An Abalone also possesses the ability to bring herself and her charge into the charge's mindscape, whilst inside she guides them towards curement of any mental or emotional wounds. Each case is different and can be either very challenging or rather easy. Failure can result in either worsening of the wound or placing the charge into a coma, trapping Abalone within. This power can also be used to brainwash the Gem if the Abalone performing the procedure so chooses, Abalone herself finds this horrible and will refuse to do this, no matter who asks.
Fusions: None.
History: Abalone used to be really popular among in Homeworld, loyal and diligent, the perfect Gem according to Homeworld standards. She didn't rise anywhere, the hierarchy prohibited that. But she was in more ways much more respected than other Abalones and even a little bit feared, because there were rumours of what she had done to curry such favour from White Diamond.
Therefore it came as a surprise to most when she defected and left Homeworld on a stolen cargo ship. It was mostly through luck that she, after a long chase, finally found Earth, but was then hit by her hunters and crashed somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean. She's been roaming the ocean floor, trying to find land, ever since and as a result is unaware of the Message, the Rebellion and any of the recent developments on land.
Character Arcs: The first arc would be surfacing, probably on the Temple Beach and trying to find out what's going on, facing her past actions and accepting them after a lot of angst, finding a Gem who has been corrupted and trying to heal it with her mind (potentially catastrophic or really good).
