The Kindergarden was quiet this dark night, save for the rather loud snoring of a small red gem. Inside one of the many caves lay two separate gems, both with a similar color scheme and stature. The female counterpart was in a deep sleep, snoring loudly, while the male gem was wide awake. He was staring at the other gem, who was cuddled up next to his side, and looking specifically at her gem which laid on her chest. Just a few days ago it was cracked, and she'd hardly be able to last an hour unfused let alone all day. It was almost like the old days. Almost. He'd been uneasy ever since she had been healed by that Crystal Gem fountain, although he know it was wrong for him to mistrust her. They'd been with each other for hundreds of years, why would it change now? But... The question lingered anyways.
He turned away from her, picking himself up and walked outside the cave. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small vial containing a rose tinted water. What could that fountain do to a gem? Could it change them? Was that how that 'Rose Quartz' turned gems to her side? Could it happen to her...? He shuddered, the thought was almost too much to bear. He continued to walk outside, setting himself down on one of many rocks strewn about the place. He'd usually never leave her alone, but this place wasn't exactly a gem hub for activity. She'd be fine for a few minutes while he cleared his head. He caught himself breathing and immediately forced himself to come to a stop. It was a bad habit he had picked up from her, who had in turn picked it up from Earthen gems. He examined the vial again, could she pick up other traits of gems on this planet. Something more... traitorous? He refused to believe it, but still he hesitated to enter the cave again. Instead, he decided to sit there for a moment longer and watch the sky. At least stars were one of the few things that didn't look so different on this planet.
