Both gems watched as the much sought after drill was catapulted into the air and disappeared in a bright explosion. They were both shocked, both from the two rapid 'boom!'s from Carbide's weapons then the fact the drill was gone within seconds. It was Pyre who first broke the silence, "What... is... wrong with you?!" He stepped forward, forgetting his hammer was still in hand, jabbing a finger at Carbide, "We needed that for the communicator! We're more likely to find the correct parts from a home in the ground than that piece of rubble! We had it! We could have caught it if you just gave us more time!" He was practically fuming, swinging his hands around, turning towards the rubble, "Now what are we going to do, find another drill for you to destroy? We were lucky not to run into one of those corrupted freaks on our way here, I doubt we'd be so lucky again! GAH! And it was in pristine condition!" Pye, quickly realizing Pyre was just going to get himself worked up stepped forward, "C'mon Pyre, you wouldn't even know a broken drill from a working one. I'm sure we can find another one around here." She looked up at the two other gems, hoping they would cut in at some point and back up her argument.
Pyre turned away and started pacing around, "So what if we find another one? Miss Boomstick over here will probably just get scared her partner in crime will get himself shattered trying to do his job! Besides, look at him!" He gestured at his arm which had fallen off his side, something that would had been rather unsettling had he not been so upset, "He's in no state to try that again, and I can't do it on my own! That was a one time shot, ruined by some scared gem!" Pye watched as he walked off, kicking bits of metal and rock as he went and grumbled to himself. He wouldn't go far without her, she was well aware of that, but he needed to let out some steam. Meanwhile Pye turned to Carbide and Fulgurite, giving a nervous smile. As much as she wanted to defuse the situation, he wasn't entirely wrong. Fulgurite was now injured, and adding a possible corrupt gem into the mix complicated things. Though it wasn't a sure thing they'd actually lower the drill, or even find a working part that they needed.
Eventually Pyre made his way back to the group, no longer screaming but glaring daggers at both of them. "Alright. Ruined drill aside, we're not set back very much. Right? If we can't salavage... that." He gestured to the mess Carbide made, "We'll find another drill, corrupt gems or not. However. Now we've got an injured gem, and it just happens to be the one gem we need to identify the piece. So, it's safe to say this was a waste of time. Unless you-" He points to Fulgurite, "-have any more bright ideas." He crossed his arms again, anything else he would have abandoned long ago but he clung to the idea of connecting to someone, anyone, on Homeworld. Maybe even secure a rescue mission... He dare not dream it.
Pye shuffled on her feet, a little uncomfortable with the whole situation. In truth, she wasn't entirely behind the whole 'contact Homeworld' plan, but this was one of the rare times she was interacting with other gems. And besides, the two gems didn't exactly feel like they were die-hard Homeworld enthusiasts. At least Carbide wasn't, so there had to be another reason behind this. So she continued on silently, dreading the thought of actually making contact with the outside systems. She was far from a coward but the less they drew the eyes of Homeworld the better.
