Prism approaches the Communication Tower, when they hear a loud boom. They pause a moment, deciding if they should investigate. ShouldInvestigate() returns true. As they enter the Hub, they detect two gems within their range. Feeling something close to excitement at the idea of having finally found a new master they begin a approach the two gems, but they stop when they get closer. After a closer view of the scene, it has become clear that the two gems are engaged in combat. danger = true; Prism pauses. Both gems seem like good candidates for a new master, but given that they appear to be enemies, a decision must be made on which gem to serve. Under normal circumstances Prism would approach and offer their loyalty to the highest ranking gem, but this wasn't normal circumstances. Perhaps it would be best to wait and gather more data before making such an important choice.
Bumble Bee Jasper scowled as Meta Autunite began to weave plasma together, the energy arching to connect the plasma spheres. Bee yawned as she waited for Meta to complete the web of electricity. Sure, she could have stopped the tall rebel from making it, but she wanted a challenge; she wanted to see what this Gem could do. "Hey, let me know when you're done," Bee called, grinning cheekily. While she waited, she began to regenerate her damaged arm. Unfortunately, Meta's plasma seemed to have cauterized the wound, preventing regeneration. Bee was about to just cut off the entire arm, but by then, Meta had finished her deadly web. She flung it outwards, burning the ground and creating a whirlwind of sediment. Bumble Bee danced backwards, but escaping the wide wall of plasma seemed impossible... As the dust cleared, Bee was nowhere to be seen. It seemed that Meta Autunite's attack had succeeded in destroying the Jasper. However, a yellow hand erupted from the ground, and Bee pulled herself out of the hole that she had dug in the rock. Her hair was wild and dusted with pebbles and sand. She spat out a mouthful of dust before grinning at Meta. "Whoo-wee!" Bee exclaimed. "You almost got me that time." Bee stood up and cracked her knuckles. "This time, I ain't letting you make another one of those things." Bee shot up towards Meta, using her Spin Dash attack.

((Just a head's up. Meta and Jasper are around and outside the hub, not inside of it. If they were inside, all that crashing around and exploding would flatten the place.))
Unfortunately, Meta had already charged her next shot, which was a great deal less elaborate, and a great deal more focused and deadly. A beam of sizzling white energy poored from Meta's hand as Jasper leapt upwards, and the Gem was pounded back into the dirt hard by the attack just before she reached Meta , the impact and the residual discharge of the plasma filling the air with more hot dust and debris.
Meta waved the debris away from her face, and circled the area where Jasper had struck. She knew the warrior-gems were durable.... More so than her by far, and she knew that their ability to cloak themselves in crackling energy and dash about granted them a form of protection.
((woops! my bad, just ignore everything I said about being in the hub ))
Prism ducks behind a boulder to avoid getting hit by debris caused by Meta's attack, poking their head out after deeming it to be safe. Being closer now, they are able to deduce what kind of gems the dueling strangers are. It was clear that the Autunite was a higher ranking gem, meaning that Prism's loyalty should default to her.
This observation should have been enough to make a decision, but something causes Prism to pause. After doing some calculation, they realized that now may not be the proper time to approach either gem, as they seem to be otherwise occupied. At least Prism is programmed to know that interrupting someone when they are in the middle of something is rude. Clearly the correct course of action is to wait until Autunite has a moment, and then approach her. Proud to have solved this complex social algorithm with such ease, Prism continues to watch from behind the boulder.
As Bee shot towards Meta, she realized that the Gem had already charged up an attack. Bee desperately tried to swerve, but she was already in midair, and she was struck violently by the blast of plasma. The Jasper was slammed onto the ground, her skin burning from the plasma. Her body glowed briefly, threatening to vanish, but Bee forced herself to stand up. She was badly hurt, but she was simply too proud to acknowledge it. "You... You wretched, mud-loving, traitorous CLOD!" She spat. "I... I..." Bee swayed, stumbling before regaining her balance. She shook her head, clearing away the black that was clouding her vision. Bee glared hatefully at Meta Autunite, the black being replaced by red. It didn't matter that there was no chance of winning. It didn't matter how much pain Bumble Bee was in. She was going to fight, and she was going to fight hard. Bee's pupils were swallowed up by red, and she launched towards Meta, screaming in rage.
Meta eyes the heavily wounded Bumble Bee with a look of cool derision as the dust cleared, lowering herself so as to be in better speaking range. The Gem was finished and she obviously knew it. Meta's lips parted, as if to deliver parting words, as she watched the larger Gem falter and stumble. The words turned to a noise of surprise as Jasper dove at her, and slammed her out of the air.
The two of them tumbled down, backwards, and into the surf, splashing into waist-deep water with a great spray of foam and brine. Meta flailed, disoriented and tangled up with Jasper, delivering a relatively feeble kick to the bigger Gem's jaw that was just enough to shift her adversary's bulk.
"It's, pleh!-, over, Jasper."
Meta exclaimed amidst pitting water as she resurfaced, Meta manifested her axe, and swung it downwards at Jasper, teeth bared.
Seeing as the threat seems to be almost over Prism pokes their head out from behind the rock to get a better view of the two gems. The Autunite clearly seems to be the stronger candidate, though there is always a margin for error.
This is exciting! A chance to serve such a powerful gem! Prism thinks about what kind of tasks their new master will have them perform. Perhaps she will have them repair machinery for her. The nearby hub could clearly use some technical attention. What would be a better way to show their worth than to repair the structure she is so fiercely defending?
Of course she could be like Prism's previous masters and just use them as a gem weapon. Prism didn't think that this function was the best use of their facilities, but they're happy to serve whatever function requested of them. Besides, a gem of this Autunite's power would be able to use Prism as a very powerful gem weapon.
Jasper connected with Meta Autunite, throwing both Gems into water. Bee punched and kicked blindly, and as they wrestled, Bee caught a mouthful of water. The salty taste was most unpleasant, and she spat it out, choking. This gave Meta the chance to deliver a small kick to Bee's chin, which was enought to catch the Jasper off guard. Bee stumbled back and fell, clawing at the air as she landed in the water, which was quite unfamiliar to her. She never really had much experience with such things. Bee stood up, but only to slip and fall again. "Curse this blasted planet!" She shouted. "Why do you defend this useless ball of dirt? Why?!" Bee glared at Meta as the latter summoned her axe. As she prepared to hit Bumble Bee, her teeth were bared, which reminded Bee of herself. It was a savage gesture. Was this what Bee's victims saw in their final moments? A merciless, savage warrior, hungry for battle, for the kill..? Of course, rather than realizing her errors (which she was much too proud to do), Bee swore to herself that she would never let herself sink so low; to be beaten like her victims. Bumble Bee splashed water into Meta's face, cackling triumphantly at her little trick.
Meta faltered as the larger gem splashed saltwater into her face. Aware, in the split-second of it, the moment, that she had no way to intelligently react to anything the Gem might do (she might have dodged. In the water, Meta's ability to percieve other gems' energy was muddied), Meta decided that finishing the Gem up close was not the most viable option. All within a facet of a moment. And then she exploded into crackling flame, rocketing up and out of the water, burning the surf away, burning the tide around her to steam, hopefully burning Jasper.
Meta snarled, atop her pillar of flame, as she rose higher into the air.
"Learn to accept when you've lost."
With that, Meta made a sweeping gesture with one hand, and panned a blinding laser of blue-white fire across the already boiling surf below.
Bee laughed madly as Meta spat and faltered. She was dimly aware that her chances of winning this fight was fading fast, but something had snapped in Bee. Something wouldn't let her give up. Meta Autunite suddenly burst into flames and flew up, scalding Bumble Bee's hair and skin. Bee blocked her face, but did so unsuccessfully, due to her lost forearm. The water surrounding the Jasper boiled, causing the wounded Gem to screech in agony. She leapt to her feet, preparing to jump towards Meta. However, the tall Gem was simply too high up in the air for Jasper to reach. "Learn to accept when you've lost," Meta Autunite snarled, then blasted the earth with fire. Bee's eyes filled with tears as they shone, reflecting the blinding light. "I... The mighty Bumble Bee Jasper, prized by Yello Diamond... Defeated?" The laser sliced through Bee, cutting through her torso. Her body fell, stirring up dust and ashes. Bee grasped at the earth, rasping as she struggled for breath. "Defeated by a rebel..." She whispered, her lip trembling. "What am I worth now?" She glared at Meta, and struggled to pull herself towards her, half-crawling, half-rolling. "What're you going to do now, rebel?" She croaked. "If you kill me, are you any better than I am?" She grinned, then her face fell, her red eyes darkening. She tensed, then her body poofed into a cloud.
Prism ducked back behind the rock as Meta blasted Bee. After they could no longer feel the heat of the attack, they looked up again just in time to see the Jasper poof. Now that the Autunite has finished her battle, they where free to approach. Prism steps out from behind the rock and begins to approach Meta, but soon stops. There are a lot of unknown variables in this situation, and the outcome is largely unknown.
An anxiety grew in Prism's chest as they continue toward Meta. The only truly enumerated data they have is the Autunite's ability in combat, which while impressive still wasn't much to go on. For all they know, this Autunite could simply be psychotically aggressive, attacking other gems on sight. Prism pushed away these thoughts as they drew near to Autunite.
Meta was just stooping to retrieve the Jasper's gem in the thigh-deep water when the voice caught her attention. Still tense with the energy of battle, Meta spun, halfway expecting another attacker, though a part of her brain, the more rational part, informed her that such an attacker would most probably not calmly reveal their presence, unless they were a greate wal more powerful than Meta, in which case it was a moot point.
"And what brings you to the communications' hub?"
Meta queried, easing one eyebrow, and keeping her eyes on the newcomer as she stooped to retrieve Bumble Bee Jasper's Gem, only to find it swept out to sea by the steady push and pull of the waves.
It wasn't long before Bumble Bee Jasper finally regenerated. She was whole once more, but weak. She found that her newly regenerated body was floating on water, the same blasted substance that handicapped and aided her in the fight against... Ugh. That rebel. Bee almost cursed aloud when she remembered the battle. How could she lose to such a dirt-living clod?! And how could she expect to ever return to Home World after being humiliated like that? Bee clenched her fists, but lost the energy to even do that. She became limp, but burning hatred and rage still boiled near the surface. "This won't be the last time she hears of me," Bee growled. "I'll find that... piece of traitorous dirt, and when I do..." Bee grinned, and hardly noticed her sharpening teeth. "She'll be nothing more than dust." Of course, Bumblr Bee knew that she was in no condition to fight. She would recover for now, then get her revenge...
Prism paused, taking note of Meta's tense posture. The fear that they may be in danger of attach resurfaced for a moment before they could force their unease to disperse.
"I'm following my protocol. In the event of misplacement I am to find the nearest high ranking gem so that I may serve them. It would appear that you fulfill this protocol." They paused for a moment before continuing to approach Meta, trying their best to read her body language. Everything will be set right by having a master again, and misreading the situation could ruin their chance to be in Meta's good graces.
"What tasks would you like me to perform? If you'd like, I could begin by making repairs to the Communication Hub?" They hoped that a display of technical aptitude would prove their worth.
Melody: as usual, just waiting for posts
