Olivine hadn't put much stock into this whole Homeworld, Rebel thing. they were all a bunch of idiots. The only thing she could truly agree to was that she liked Earth and the Diamonds were idiots. She even liked saying it. Something about it warmed the cockles of her heart. Well if she had a heart that is...
"My light suit... gem... huh... warms the cockles of my gem... can a gem have cockles... what was a cockle again." she seemed to ponder the vernacular for a moment. With all her years among humans she seemed to have picked up a few metaphors and the like she didn't understand.
Still shrouded in her human garb she leaped from place to place humming a song to herself. "Down the rivers stream, thy hands will open the path yet unseen. Reaching out to the light.... a pure silver sword reclaims the fight. Slash order in it's wake, those slumbering hopes shall not break.. bringing peace to the world for dreamers sake. These glamour filled visages they shall not take. A soft light scatters from the crystal tide, vanquishing the dark like a sunrise. Hear me now oh slumbering dreamers... find ones truth, oh true believers"
As she concludes the first verse, her voice carrying like a dove on a winters wind she pauses in silent contemplation. The world was making her think again and she hated it. The fury in her eyes was that of a lost soul. She was a worthless gem. Only good for acting in her own sake. "Stupid Diamonds... stupid Rebels.... what's the point... why can't I see like everyone else?"
Wondering away from the room he had been resting in lately, as nice as the Temple was there were always new gems about and the whole "Mind reading" think still made him un-easy. His hood up covering his neon green hair, with his skin tone being so close to human he was in his human "stealth" mode. He could always easily pass for human in the right light with the shade of his projection. It was then when he heard something.... something lovely.
"Hmmm..." He mumbled softly to himself, couldn't help but follow the sound of the voice until he saw... a human? That sings so we- "Stupid Diamonds... stupid Rebels.... what's the point... why can't I see like everyone else?" Maybe not a gem... "How.... do I go about this?" He thinks to himself before just knocking on a wall near by, "Yo? So uh.... what brings you here?" he tries to speak up a bit hoping she heard him if she hadn't already. From the voice alone he was unsure of who this possible gem was, so many new gems have been popping up it was getting hard to track anymore.
"Huh? Whaaaaa... ." caught off guard and deep in thought she fell off her high perch and began falling down. She screamed in a panic... not having her gem weapon in this moment terrified her so she quickly pulled it out. A parasol formed opening in a brilliant cascade of multi hue'd lights. She raised it above her head and mumbled to herself "Be light be light... ."
she sighed softly as she caught a nice wind and gently floated down to a soft landing. She looked up to where she once stood and half grimaced, half smiled. "That would have hurt." she shuddered and looked to the human? Ohh crude... great now I got to deal with a potential unnerved human as the hooded figure before him just said screw you gravity. Well no point in guises I suppose.
Olivine reached up and pulled back her hood folding her parasol and using it like a cane. "Uh hey there... umm... sir. Uh... look that umm... that was a magic trick. Yeah! Total magic trick no need to worry or get the authorities... you know I'm just a simple fun hav... eeerrr... wait... isn't this a gem... place... human?"
She blinked and stood more upright her green face now a shade bit darker as she flushes from her clear attempt to cover up things. Maybe Olivines really are worthless compulsive liars. "Are you a human?... or umm... a gem... or... ." she blinked in confusion frazzling her hair.
By this point Olivine's clothes had seen better days and she was starting to look rather worse for wear. She certainly didn't seem dangerous; but, Homeworld and the rebels do have their own unique hat tricks.
Variscite jumped a bit as the person had dropped from where she was standing, dashing forward to try and catch them but.... there was the blaze of bright lights and suddenly, the person.... gem, was now slowly floating down to the ground, the same level as Varis himself. He heard her mumble something but wasn't able to catch it, "Uh hey there... umm... sir. Uh... look that umm... that was a magic trick. Yeah! Total magic trick no need to worry or get the authorities... you know I'm just a simple fun hav... eeerrr... wait... isn't this a gem... place... human?"
She still thought he was a human.... playing this trick had ended badly for him, before he could really say anything she spoke up once more. "Are you a human?... or umm... a gem... or... ." she seemed kinda confused.... he was clearly not helping her understand any better. He smiles softly before pulling his hood down, showing his neon green hair, shaved sides with his hair kinda "Flopped" to the right side of his head, covering his neon eye slightly.
"Yea.... im a gem. Sorry for that little trick... just heard a really pretty song so.... here I am." He was talking just above a mumble... his stutter had gone but he still felt odd talking. He could tell from the little fall that she was indeed a gem but she wasn't wearing normal gem clothing I mean... nether was he but it was odd to see a gem in such worn looking clothing. "Uh.... im Variscite but most just kinda call me Varis for short." He said as he stuffed his hands into his hoodie pockets, he figured gems wore human clothing just because unlike alot of gem clothing it wasn't skin tight and was rather comfortable.
Olivine blushed lightly. On a close inspection it could have been easily seen especially when she scratched her cheek out of nervous habit. "Pretty song... umm.. yeah.. umm.. ." she mumbled a soft thanks and listened to what else he had to say. Needless to say when he revealed himself Olivines immediate thought was how lucky he was. What she would do to be able to better hide in plain sight like that. There were no visible stars or diamonds... which wasn't a garnetee to express one's faction. She decided it be best to play it safe.
Most gems didn't really go looking into subsets of gems so Olivine's which were not common were hard to distinguish. But, even more so were gems like Apatites. Supremely rare as far as gems are concerned and multi hued. They were always Olivines go to bluff and sooo hard to disprove. It was unlikely this gem was knowledgeable and even if he was Olivine was capable of getting away.
"Im Apatite." she says pulling down her hood exposing her soft femine features. Her purple eyes standing as stark contrast to the vibrant green hue of her skin. "Surprised you were so open in approaching another gem... I mean with the whole... rebellion going on." Olivine smirks.
That's it Olivine, if you can't tell what he is... maybe he will just tell you. Or outright attack you... eeessshhh... hope that doesn't happen. She did her best to disquiet the outside voices of his clothes and the general architecture. She would need to remain focused in case he did assault her.
"Pretty song... umm.. yeah.. umm.. ." she seemed to try and think him for the complament... it was odd for him to have sen another gem singing.... he was normally the one who would sing but, it was nice to hear another gem with a good voice and had something worth singing about. He felt the awkward moment grow... something had to break the silence, and before he could do so she replied with her name, "Apatite? Huh.... thats a new one..." He kinda mumbled. He was no gem expert and couldn't really tell one gem from another....
"Surprised you were so open in approaching another gem... I mean with the whole... rebellion going on." Wow she was pretty new to Earth huh? "Uhhh... heh... yeah so about those Rebels..." He spoke while he looked down towards the ground and rubbing the back of his head slowly. His hand sliding down to his gem on the back of his neck, running his fingers over his worn gem... feeling the cuts and other worn bits about his gem. "I get into more fights this way but uh.... I AM a rebel... I guess.... I mean I never set foot on Homeworld. Just kinda... been here... my home I guess." He spoke louder then before, no longer mumbling with a bit of a stern tone to his voice. He awaited for her reaction... almost ready for some kind of thing to hit him hard or something just as bad.
Olive smirked happy to see her front was so easily bought. Once again her dubious self managed to pull of a lie. She still didn't like the idea that apparently her gem type may be untrustworthy; however, in this instance she didn't care. She was half heartidly listening ready to hear some other gems story about being from homeworld... hate rebels this hate rebels that. We must get the kindergarten back. Blah blah blah... wait... what?!
Olivine blinked in confusion. He was a rebel. A crystal gem?... wait... what does she do now. She had been on this planet for so long and this was the first rebel she had met. "Your a rebel?.. ." she looked him up and down a moment and her cheeks puff'd up from stifling a laugh. Needless to say... she failed. Suddenly the green gem breaks out into a gut busting laugh and even chortles loudly which makes her flush with embarrassment.
"I'm sorry... I'm sorry. Just... your the first Crystal Gem I have ever met.... haha so many times have I come upon homeworld gems and just had to flat out lie about who I am and what my morality is... and here right now a bonified Crystal Gem... haha." she wiped a laugh tear from her eye and smiled to you. "The name's Olivine bub... been on this planet for a very very loooong time. Originally in White Diamond employ and now I just do me... nice to /actually/ meet you."
"Your a rebel?.. ." She seemed rather confused by how open he was about it... then laughing at him? "I'm sorry... I'm sorry. Just... your the first Crystal Gem I have ever met.... haha so many times have I come upon homeworld gems and just had to flat out lie about who I am and what my morality is... and here right now a bonified Crystal Gem... haha." So she wasn't being one hundred percent honest with him before, though she might have her own reasons for doing so. She gave him her REAL name and that she had been around some time, most likely longer then he had been alive.
He was unsure really who this "White Diamond" was but he knew what the Diamonds represented on Homeworld... well just what he has heard from other gems really. "Yeah uh... Olivine? Very nice to meet you too! I dont know much about the Diamonds.... no idea who White Diamond is heh." He leaned onto the wall a bit with his hand still stuffed into his hoodie pockets, "So... what was with the whole fake name bit? Got some uh... Homeworld baggage? Yea?" he hoped she wouldn't take this as being rude... but he wanted to know what would have her giving out a fake name.
Olivine rubbed the back of her neck and contemplated how to answer. She really hadn't said it aloud to often. Also, there was the fact if this gem was lying too then this could lead to a whole slew of problems... no, be more trustworthy, she thought to herself. "Well... where to start... umm to save you my whole life story I'll sum it up a bit. I'm an Olivine... frankly... considered useless to most." she said that with a sigh as if she clearly did not agree. "However, I have some potential as a fighter... a different kinda fighter... reactive.. defensive. That sorta deal.... soo White Diamond... ugh. Roped me into a protection gig where my luck showed and... I managed to do a good job. Really I don't like Homeworld... politics. I hate the Diamonds.... . Either way I was bounced over to Blue Diamonds floating fortress on another world where she was securing kindergartens to basically advance gem kind. There I was put on another protection gig... and well this time not so smoothly."
"My lower level rare gem boss was attacked... and I was meant to guard. I did... buuuut, I was also beaten close to shattering and launched off the fortress. When I came too I kinda looked around and well my aloof attitude... kinda just took over and I said.. No. So I didn't go back.... I abandoned my station and just explored that planet till it looked like the colony I came out of... . All and all.... I'm basically a traitorous pebble presumed to be dead... and I'd like to keep it that way."
Varis just posted up against the wall as she spoke, he was totally unaware of how gems were looked at on Homeworld... he had no idea if he was a rare or common gem, one of high worth on Homeworld or just useless. A thought that kinda nagged in the back of his head, what he would have been if he had made it to Homeworld like he guessed he should have. Then came more about her real history... being stationed and almost shattered, running from a post you couldn't put your heart into.. he understood though.
".. I'm basically a traitorous pebble presumed to be dead... and I'd like to keep it that way." Huh.... it made sense and hiding here on Earth where there has been very little communication between the two planets. "That's... a bit of a history, I guess I skipped the whole being stationed and finding out my worth part and just kinda..." He trailed off in a slight mumble as he glanced around the area quickly before returning his gaze back to Olivine, "Moved onto that traitorous pebble part a bit sooner. I never made it to Homeworld from here, I think I was meant to be some kind of fighter.... don't think ill ever know. I never met another Variscite before... that whole thing of the same gem all doing the same thing... kinda makes me feel a bit sick... being judged on the type of gem you are just seems weird to me." He smiled a bit as he spoke... he found it silly for him to be talking about Homeworld at all with the zero amount of knowledge he had with the subject.
"Well I don't know too much about Variscites in earnest. Really my gem knowledge is limited mainly to the Jasper and Peridot facets... umm that's kinda like your over arching group I guess." she shrugs a bit. "Really more power to you I mean... I don't see you as a traitor. Your just doing your own thing. Which is what I think more gems should do really. I'm... still loyal to my homeworld though... I mean. How to explain." she ponders for a moment.
"I have nothing against gem, or gem society as a whole... hell I wish some days I wasn't alone all the time. I liked Homeworld just fine.... it's just. Well the Diamonds urk me. I really hate the Diamond Authority... but, not enough to possibly do what you do." she pauses studying Variscite a moment
"I'm not a fighter... I don't have grand ideals... though I am capable of fighting. I just, I just don't see the point in this little rebel, homeworld thing... by that I mean... I don't see why it's worth trying. I don't mean to insult the Crystal Gems and all; but, your little battle... I don't see victory in it. I know it's still worth trying... but, I think I would lose heart if I were a rebel. Well unless I had never saw Homeworld I guess."
The more this gem spoke he felt a bit... out of the loop. There was a arching group he was in? There was so much knowledge about his own culture that was just simple... lost to him. The she even went so far to say that she was still loyal to Homeworld but... didn't see him as a traitor. "I have nothing against gem, or gem society as a whole... hell I wish some days I wasn't alone all the time. I liked Homeworld just fine.... it's just. Well the Diamonds urk me. I really hate the Diamond Authority... but, not enough to possibly do what you do." What he did? The whole Rebel thing right... he understood what she meant though... its like having a place to belonged to and enjoyed it... just management sucks.
"... I don't see victory in it. I know it's still worth trying... but, I think I would lose heart if I were a rebel. Well unless I had never saw Homeworld I guess." He felt weird looking at this whole Rebel thing from a Homeworld gem set of eyes. He chuckled softly and shrugged a bit with a grin across his face, "Grand Ideals? I don't really have those. And I just see a journey yeah? Like.... iv beat down a few "Big shots" of Homeworld already... even fought a Metal! That thing was crazy.. Heh... the Diamonds don't scare me, ill be sure to bash ones head in when I see one."
He felt oddly confident when it came to fighting. "Just gotta.... hope for a better day I guess yeah? Hope for a better future... or well... I like to start small, and just hope for a good breakfast!" He smiled brightly and his voice perked up a bit at the sound of breakfast.... he had yet to eat anything today..
"Now that is a cause I can get behind. Breakfast mhmmmm... I swear I found the Best Diner in the World the other day. Sausage, Bacon, Eggs... Pancakes.... ooey gooey syrup... yum." the gems mouth comically unhinged and you could swear she drool'd for a moment. "But, yeah... umm breakfast... what were we... ohh yeah."
"Better days all that... I can get behind that. But umm, what's a Metal? Is that some new tech from Homeworld or something? Like a new arch cannon, or light tank? I haven't been home in a while so I don't doubt the processing power of the incandescent temperium archs have skyrocketed." she shook her head a bit. There it was again that old Peridot part of her gem. She cleared the foggy haze.
"Bah, who cares... tech is tech... how about you and me get a mouthful of grub and you tell me about the gems and the Metal?"
The more this gem spoke he could feel himself getting more hungry, though he knows he doesn't have a real stomach, he had been eating for so long he starts to feel odd after a few hours of no eating. When he spoke of the Best Diner in the World he could almost see the place, he was aware of this same diner, "Oh yeah... I forgot about that place! I know where your talking about, good spot.." He too kinda drift off into a mini food day dream, cakes, pies and other sweets filled his mind until he snapped back.
" ...But umm, what's a Metal? Is that some new tech from Homeworld or something? Like a new arch cannon, or light tank? I haven't been home in a while so I don't doubt the processing power of the incandescent temperium archs have skyrocketed." She didn't know what a Metal was? Maybe they were more secretive then he had first thought. And.... he had NO idea what a "incandescent temperium arch" was but if being pared with cannons and tanks... must not be that safe of a thing.
At the sound of wanting to go get some food he smiled again, "Ok... that sounds awesome... and I think we are uh... gonna get along just fine! Its nice to find a gem that like to eat as much as I do." It did make him happy knowing he wasn't the only gem with food or snacks always on his mind. Varis knew of a human diner in town that served breakfast all day, not the best place on Earth but it was good food. "I know a nice diner not far from here... shall we?" He said holding his arm out like a gentlemen and waiting for her to be ready to move.
While on the way to said diner he looked at her for a moment, "So... you don't know what a Metal is? They are like.... Us! Just she always called us "Light Projections" and calling us fragile shine stones.... its like they are made of metal... im not sure if they project themselves like we do... Oh! They don't even summon weapons like we do but.... armor! It was such a crazy fight... it took three of us just to knock her over! Then she uh... vanished." While talking he didn't look at her to much, he was picturing the Metal... big a stocky with those two giant floating hands... he shivered a moment as he remembered getting smacked around by one of those hands.
Olivine nodded at the prospect of the dinner and couldn't help but chuckle at the gentlemanly arm offer. Whether it was because Olivine saw herself too cool for that sort of thing, or it was a lingering affect form her time in England she spoke bemused. "Pfffttt... thanks for the offer bub; but, I think I got it." she chuckles again and gives him a thoughtful shoulder bump.
As they walk to the diner he discusses the Metal and Olivine seems awfully analytical. It was a curious expression on her face. After some time she shakes the thoughts a way and comes to what appears to be a simple conclusion. But, from all that contemplation she likely had other thoughts. "Well they certainly do sound like a problem. I would love to watch one in action one day.... but, then again maybe not." she places her arms behind her head. "Not really a problem I think I'll have to deal with unless the Authority goes all out with their heavy warships, hands, and well a regular all out show of force... eh, that is if the corrupted don't get us first."
Olivine seemed non-chilant about potential doomsday scenarios. Her face did show some worry; but, over all it was as if she thought she had no control on the matter.

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
Orginal Opening Plot Here Thread That Changed Everything
Differances Between the Roleplay and the Show
*Thanks to Rose Quartz' message the Gems on Earth are entirely aware that the Homeworld Gems intend to wipe out the human race.
*The "corruption"'s Origin is still unknown, some suspect it was a viral infection, other claim it was a Diamond experiment gone awry and other suspect the organics were behind it. Regardless no one seem to have a proper answer about what it was and why its only isolated to Earth
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
