How could everything have gone so wrong? Sugar thought as she darted around the defunct Earth Terminal of the galaxy warp. She was initially sent to Earth to investigate its shutdown, but she didnt know the extent of the damage. Now she was stuck here, her ship having been sabotaged by the infernal dissenters calling themselves the "Crystal Gems", and no way to contact her Diamond. Realizing that none of the warp pads offworld were remotely functional, Sugar sat down on one of the steps leading to the Homeworld warp, taking a second to register the futility of her situation before letting out an enraged, animalistic cry. There was no hope. She was stuck on that miserable rock filled with dissenters, saboteurs, disloyal servants of the diamonds, and humans.
"I'm going to die here..." Sugar mused as she calmed down, realizing the odds that had been presented to her. As far as she knew, she was the only loyalist on Earth that wasn't dead or secretly a dissenter. It was her against an uncountable number of insurrectionists, and she couldnt handle two. She couldn't hide forever, she knew that at some point she would be found and killed. Slamming a fist down on one of the stairs, Sugar silently began to weep, curling herself up within her coat. She was as good as dead, and she knew it. She had failed. And she was afraid of what could possibly come next.
One of the few working warp pads gleamed as a tall red gem appeared, seemingly mid conversation with herself, "-a little time to ourselves-" she stopped as she noticed a small, dispondant gem sitting down a few feet away. She hesitated, not expecting to run into a gem in this mostly abandoned structure. "I'm going to die here..." She couldn't help but catch the last comment to herself, and the multiple colored diamonds on her clothing. Her features quickly changed, much more concerned with the situation unfolding in front of her. She nodded to herself, formulating a plan of sorts. She stretched, arms above her head, and let out a loud yawn. Time to engage.
"Wow, didn't realize someone put a mirror here. Especially in such a malfunctioning hub." She made her way closer, making an effort to keep her arms to her side and to keep a non-threatening attitude. She stopped a few feet away, "Hi, sorry to bother you and your panic attack, but my name is Pyrope. Nice to meet you." She put her arms behind her back, "Not every day I see someone sporting the diamond's insignia so proudly." She tapped the side of her head, pointing at a mark resembling the old quad-diamond symbol, "It's nice to see. Especially nowadays. So," she sat down suddenly, leaning backwards onto her palms, "let's have a gem to gem, shall we?"
Sugar paused as she heard the other gem enter, having previously disregarded the warp pad leading to this Terminal. Hidden under the cover of her coat, the shorter gem drew one of her shotguns, setting it behind her as the newcomer spoke, her eyes tracking the red gem's every move. From the female's body language alone, she could tell that this one meant no hostility, but certainties couldn't be assumed. She had recently been decieved by an insurrectionist posing as a loyalist, who was to say this one didnt have ulterior motives as well? As the gem wandered closer, Sugar tightened her grip on the gun, continuing to analyze the other.
However, her comment about the mark of the Diamond that she bore on her uniform prompted the shorter gem to relax somewhat, releasing her grip on the gun, but not ceasing her analytical glare. The Pyrope, as she referred to herself notably without any form of desegnation, seemed innocent in their advances, and while her initial request to talk was met with silence, Sugar spoke up after a few minutes of consideration. "Sugar D1332. It is... Refreshing to meet another loyal to the cause of the Diamonds, especially here." she greeted, offering her hand.
Pyrope was a little caught off guard when Sugar mentioned her cut, a habit she had lost a long time ago. She gripped her hand, giving it a firm shake, "Nice to meet you Sugar, mind if I just call you Sugar? Can't say I've met a gem of your kind before. Not that I've traveled far of course..." She relaxed again, crossing her legs and resuming her previous pose leaning on her palms. "Ya, this is the last place you'd think to find a gem, right? Ever since these babies shut down, this place has been empty. Save for gems looking for some peace and quiet, or maybe have some desperate hope in their head." She looked around them as she talked, turning her eyes back as she finished her sentence.
"And I think I know which one of those two categories you fit under. So, take a tip from a fellow trapped gem and share what's on your mind. It helps to get all yours thoughts out, trust me. Might even help think through the problem and find a solution." She paused for a few moments, realizing she may be acting a little too friendly towards this gem. After all, she seemed to be relatively knew to Earth. After all, she was still using her cut number. Sure, she had no ill-will towards her, but she may come off as insincere perhaps. She added almost as an afterthought, "Unless, of course, your mission is on a need to know basis that is..."
Sugar couldn't help but raise an eyebrow in suspicion when the Pyrope didn't give her Cut and Facet, yet still seemed to insist on learning about her intentions on Earth. However, the other seemed to quickly realize how forward they were acting, and soon backed off. Was her mission on a need to know basis? It was likely that an order from the highest of military authority could be seen as such. But did this individual need to know? She still wore the mark of the diamonds, but so did the Jasper that had drawn her away from the ship moments before it crashed... Well, she had her gun. If need be, she could probably take her out.
After briefly considering her options, Sugar decided to open up, looking the other gem in the eye as she spoke. "My squadron and I were sent to this planet to investigate the Earth Terminal of the Galaxy Warp. We got here roughly two rotational cycles ago, and everything seemed fine when we touched down. But when Emerald and Topaz moved the ship, the engine failed, and the ship was driven to the ground, exploding upon impact. I couldn't find their gems, and the log showed no form of malfunction before the incident. The only other gem besides me was a Jasper we had met on world, bearing the mark of the Yellow Diamond... He must have sabotaged the ship. Maybe allied himself with these Crystal Gems I have heard about." Sugar spat, hate filling her voice as she mentioned the Jasper. "I'm no stranger to dealing with insurrectionists, but these gems have crossed the line. I'm going to shatter them. All of them, for what they did to us."
Pyrope listened as Sugar went through her story, albeit seemingly a little hesitant at first. Something clicked with her as Sugar neared the end of her story. Her disposition seemed to change in almost an instant, her face growing serious as she sat up straight, "Mhmm. I see..." she nodded a couple times, "So your mission was to check the warp hub, presumably Homeworld was curious why warp travel was unavailable, correct? And you suspect this 'Emerald' and 'Topaz' have betrayed you, stranding you on this planet in some hope to stop any information to Homeworld. Or at least so I assume." She rested her head on her hand, tapping her lips with a finger. She paused for a minute, brooding on the story, "Alright. So if the logs are to be trusted we have two rebel gems loose around here. Of course the number is no issue, there's plenty of rebels on this planet, but the presumably know sensitive information about your mission, correct?"
She sat back up, "And now you want revenge..." there was a long pause before she spoke again. "I won't argue, I understand your position trust me, but you need to understand the situation you're in. I've been here since the first founding of the colony, I know this planet. And at the moment, the population of gems is a majority of these Crystal Gems. If you want to hunt down both these gems you'll need to be smart, you'll need to have a plan." Again, a long pause. It seemed as if she was debating in her thoughts, hands fidgeting slightly. Eventually she looked Sugar in the eyes again, "Alright, I'm willing to help you on this. I was betrayed once like this, and I failed to get my revenge. So at the very least I can help you get yours." She stuck out her hand, "That is, if you'll accept my help. Partner..."
Sugar was delighted to finally have a true ally on this infernal planet, but paused when she realized that she had made a significant detail of her being marooned on Earth unclear. "I am grateful for your help, but you misunderstand. Emerald S2588 and Topaz M1215 were my squadmates, and were incredibly loyal to the Diamond Authority. They would never intentionally disrupt the ship, much less plan to stay on such a craft if it crashed." Sugar started, considering the possibilities of what had happened to the remainder of her team. They were most likely dead, but if not, they had probably been collected. But where would they have been sent?
"Our dilemma is rather... Vexing. The only one else there was an Owyhee Jasper clad in the military uniform issued by the lady of Yellow... We must find him, which is no easy task." Sugar continued, accepting the hand of the Pyrope and giving it a firm shake. "And I accept your offer. Thank you for your help, Pyrope."
Pyrope's face twisted for a moment, "Sorry, I was mistaken. I'm not... nevermind, it's unimportant. If you say they are loyal, I will trust you. However, I suggest you keep an eye on them." her features darkened, "In my time on this planet I've learned even the most loyal gem can be turned..." She looked away for a few minutes, letting Sugar finish her thoughts. Eventually she looked back, her face returning to its previous calm demeanor. "But at the very least we have one confirmed traitor among a world of gems who would give their lives to stop us. Like I said, we need a plan."
She adjusted herself, now sitting on he knees, "First lets get the facts straight, alright? So you know the gem, both in physical description and in gem type." She stopped for a moment, tapping the side of her face, "Although we should keep in mind that this, 'Owyhee Jasper', has probably changed their cloth... appearance modifiers. Wearing a Homeworld uniform will not get a gem far on this planet." Pyrope then stood up, beginning a slow pace back and forth in front of Sugar.
She kept her arms crossed, on hand resting under her chin, "As well we will need to catch this gem either alone or with minimal possible allies. Of course we have these other two gems who you say were allied to you, which if we can find them we will stand a better chance. Of course, until then we shall presume them shattered. Then again, they could be captured by this Jasper so we should keep these options open as well and plan accordingly." She went silently for a couple seconds before stopping and turning back to Sugar, "Any further details you wish to share with me?"
Sugar paused, considering any other notable information before remembering an order she gave before the ship went down. "Our liabilities are that we lack any form of communication with Homeworld. Hopefully, the message that Emerald sent went through, and we could expect backup within five cycles, at best. Worst case scenario, we're on our own. Recommended first step would be to reestablish contact with Homeworld, but it is doubtful that any methods of such communication exist." Sugar replied as she stood up, shouldering the shotgun. As it stood, she was stranded on an unknown world controlled by an equally unknown threat. She had questions, and she needed them answered.
"I can safely assume that you are very familiar with this planet, correct?" she asked, looking up at the Pyrope as she awaited her answer.

The faint sound of footsteps came into being as two green figures entered the view of the two gems, carrying a large engine above their heads. The piece of machinery looked rather new, and dripped every so often. Several patches of seaweed were strung along the sides like birthday decorations, swaying with the movements of the glowing figures. The two moved in complete unison, as if they were mirror reflections, carrying their cargo across a pane of glass. The marvelous piece of machinery shimmered in the light, it's glossy exterior giving away the fact it was wet. The real Fuscite was several meters away from the two gems, standing in between the two groups. Her suit ever so slightly shimmering as the suit's invisibilty mechanisms worked to keep the armor hidden from sight.
Sugar paused as the engine came into view, its colorlessness as a result of deactivation not masking its familiarity. That engine came from her ship! But her ship crashed just two days ago, and the engine wasn't anywhere in sight. Just the flight computer and the remains of the hull. Then how did those two get a hold of...
They crashed the ship. They're the reason she is stuck on this worthless rock!
Narrowing her eyes as she primed the shotgun, Sugar began to stride toward the perpetrators of her crash, only to run into... something. Whatever the object was, it was invisible. A cloaking device, perhaps? Sugar didn't have time for this, the two gems were getting away! Taking a step back, Sugar then levelled her shotgun at the spot she was just standing an pulled the trigger, hoping to at least tell what had dared to block her path.

Fuscite's attention was abruptly shifted from the holograms bearing the engine to...something, or rather, someone that had bumped into her. It was a small gem, who wore the Homeworld insignia proudly. As the old explorer turned to get a better look, she dove out of the way as shotgun rounds raced past her. The holograms continued walking, carrying the large engine out of harm's way as Fuscite herself quickly dashed around the flank of the assaulting gem, decloaking as she leaped into the air. Summoning her blades, Fuscite used her thrusters and accelerated towards the ground where the small figure was, hoping to make contact and end the combat quickly. The engine wasn't going to last for very long out in the elements like it was currently.
As soon as Sugar heard the thrusters of Fuscite's suit, she vanished, reappearing several feet from where she was. Good thing, too, as she would have been disrupted by the opposing gem's strike had she not moved. Quick to respond, Sugar flicked her wrist, priming the gun with one hand as she drew her second shotgun with her other hand. Whoever this gem was, they were definitely a threat to her operation. However, she couldn't tell what kind of gem her opponent was. "Who are you?" she inquired as she leveled the primed gun at the unnamed gem's chest. "And take off that mask. I'd like to see exactly who I'm fighting." she demanded as she cautiously began to edge toward her opponent.

Fuscite grunted slightly as she pulled her gauntlet out of the ground, shaking it a bit. As the white gem opposite her began speaking, Fuscite rose to her full height, actually managing to cast a shadow over the smaller figure. Her arms slowly reached towards the helmet, but stopped abruptly at roughly shoulder level as a green hologram of Yellow Diamond suddenly appeared in between the two combatants. Taking advantage of her hopeful distraction, Fuscite leaped to the right of the gem, cloaking and becoming invisible once more." Tell me, gem... What do...You call...Yourself? " Fuscite chimed, slinking around the gem. The holographic diamond had dissipated by now, and a Holo-Fuscite materialized, lunging at Sugar as Fuscite herself prepared to make another flanking maneuver.
Sugar internally fumed as her opponent took an opportunity to vanish once more, priming the second gun as a precaution as she waited for her opponent to make her move. "I am Sugar D1332 of Orbital Drop Squadron U117. Show yourself and tell me who you are." Sugar demanded, only to be faced with her adversary suddenly rushing her. A quick burst from one of her shotguns was enough to dispel the foe, but it appeared that this one was some sort of decoy, as the figure didn't retreat to a hem. Rather, the foe shattered all around her, only to dissipate into thin air. Now on higher alert, Sugar held the other gun to a ready position, quickly searching through her surroundings to find any sign of her opponent.
This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
