A small shadow was seen, for a split second, whisking over the abandoned green grass and wildflowers. It flew over the endless stretch of fields, what little clumps of forests there were, and the ruins that had been due to previous Gem settlements that had failed and could not withstand the troubles of time.
And then, the shadow's body was seen: a small pale-orange girl with large butterfly wings slowly descended onto the Earth. Her eyes were blank and white, her expressions unreadable, and her body stiff. Her wings, much styled after the wings of a Thaos Swallowtail it seems, folded down and dispersed in a flash of light. She walked slowly to what appears to be even more ruin: a large crashed ship, broken down, broken in, and overran with vines and moss. The air was still here, as if it was holding its own breath.
The girl pressed forward indifferently, the gem on the back of her neck beginning to glow as she neared a specific location about the ship. The girl was in search, a mindless search, but a search with a goal. She brushed the vines away from the ship's entrance, pressing her hand against the panel that would permit her. The vessel hissed whirled, the panel and doors in front of glowing a dull white. With a cloud of dust that would choke the lungs of any human, the doors slowly buzzed apart and receded into the ship. The girl seemed to flicker for a moment, as if she were an apparition or a hologram, before moving on.
The inside of the ship was cool and, as was with the exterior, broken. The metal controls had long since lost its brilliant luster, and the buttons and switches no longer glowed with its gem-tech brilliance. This did not mattered to the girl. In fact, hardly anything mattered in this form, this appearance. She continued walking, walking, walking, until at last her gem was nothing but a sun upon her back. It illuminated that part of the ship. A giant circle began to glow on the floor, and after a few moments it hissed open. An escape pod, though it was damaged and most of it was missing. Missing enough to reveal the paneling and earth beneath. Setting the escape pod aside, the girl jumped down, her eyes and gem illuminating the dark space until a light shone from further ways away. The girl followed that light.
A rich yellow-orange cascaded onto the walls and floors of the inner floors of the ship, displaying a wonderful set of white ripples along the surfaces like water. At the core of this luminescence was an ovoid of amber. The girl gazed down at it blankly before bending down to touch it. Once her hand rested against to ovoid cut, her entire body burned in a flash of white light and disappeared. The amber flashed a few times, before rising up barely an inch off of the ground and taking Form.
First came two arms, two legs, a humanoid figure blanketed in a blinding white light. It threw its newly formed head back, hair flowing out of the scalp, before the newly made body dimmed and details could then be seen. A young girl in much similar, if not the exact same, appearance of the girl that had entered the ship: pale orange skin, knee-high sundress, short yet thick hair that ended just barely at the shoulders. Her eyes were no longer blank and white but instead held life in them, and such lively eyes threw glances all around her. Blinking, not realizing at first where she was or what happened, she tried crawling out of the small space she was in -grunting as she pulled herself out.
Introducing now, as she stood up again now on level ground, is Amber. A smol healing gem. The smol healing gem seemed to have little clue of what had happened. She could remember so few things, yet most of those few things were memories that were not relevant to her, or at least should not have been. Her crew? Where was her crew? She was no captain, but she had a crew-mates! ...Didn't she? And what happened to this place to make the grand splendor that was the ship into a dingy beaten up aluminum waste can? She could remember loud sounds -sirens, alarms- and the bustling of her crew-mates. Crashing, yes, they were crashing. Crashing onto the planet that they were ironically yet importantly assigned upon. But she could hardly remember anything else -just other things, things like human holidays and customs, technology and slang. What use was that now? Here? What use... what use....
Amber exited the ship with a bit of a wobbly leg. She took in her surroundings. Vegetation was plentiful: there were trees and flowers, field grass and moss. Earth life forms were about -furry creatures with bushy tails gnawing away at little brown orbs with browner caps; small green or yellow insects with wings, jumping at incredible lengths and heights. The breeze was soft and gentle, the sun setting into a beautiful golden sunset -though slowly, very slowly, descending behind the horizon.
Her gem glowed and out came the pair of butterfly wings that we had seen beforehand. She hovered a bit in the hair before flying to the top of the ship and standing upon its ruined surface. She gazed further out onto the horizon now seeing that, in the distance, is a small town. She could see the silhouettes of the buildings, mostly flat sculptures. Definitely not gem dwellings. Human dwellings. Memory served her well of the insignificant information: houses, business buildings, shacks, sheds. Various human terms for things that should not matter. She could remember those, but she could not remember her crew, could not exactly remember what had happened to her. Curious. Very curious.
Frowning, she looked to the sky. Stars were beginning to become visible, and off to the distance she could see the system that marked the cosmos -the galaxy hosting Homeworld. Did they know? Did they know they had crashed landed here? Did they even care -would her Diamond care? Her face burned, as well as her eyes as they begun to form tears. This was her mission. This was the great test, the task she must do. Her hands shook. How could it be? How could it be that once she obtained the opportunity to prove herself that it would be thwarted by a crashed ship? How long had they been here? The ship was in ruins, overgrown by local vegetation, the walls dented in and the control panels broken. Where were her crew mates? Her captain? How was she suppose to contact Pink Diamond now?! She had no purpose without instruction! Where's the facet? Where's the kindergarten? The communication points?! Amber growled in frustration. This had been her chance... her one and only chance...
And all she could collect were memories of insignificant human details, not important to the mission by any means.
Lovely. Great. She collapsed onto her back, facing the sky, frustrated tears slipping down the corners of her eyes and running along her cheeks. A female voice rang in her head, but the image could not come through. She could not place a face to the name. What was it she said? Communication hubs down, warp pads malfunctioning? Could this just be another unimportant human memory?
Outstanding. Simply amazing! That's all she needed now.... That's all she needed.... Not.
She sighed. Amber, over and out.
