There was a strange noise that echoed through the Prime Kindergarten. A beam of blue light shot from a single warp pad, and slowly but surely the shadowy apparition of a small Gem manifested. It was not long before the blue beam dissipated, and the apparition took physical form as a small Amber. "Here," she breathed, almost in relief. "Here at last." After fiddling around with her crashed and abandoned ship's mostly-broken computers, she was able to obtain the coordinates for the Kindergarten she was supposed to be assigned to originally.
But looking at it now seemed like a very depressing thing to do.
The Kindergarten, though obviously had been used before as indicated by the outlines of the Gem's holes, was empty and lacked a single soul. It was dry and naked, bare and lonely. Injectors littered the place, all abandoned and neglected, some very much damaged beyond repair. Amber frowned. What in the name of the constellations happened here?! Where were her officials, her superiors, her team? She could've sworn coming here would give her at least some hint, but the place was totally empty! Mmm... but perhaps that isn't true? It is such a large Kindergarten, after all.
Amber jumped off the Warp Pad and glanced around. So this was the place she was assigned to, huh? To help train the healing gems created here? Pink Diamond must have placed a lot of faith in her....
She only knew a few truths about this place. She knew what it was used for, why it was made, and only a little of how it works; but the latter information was very limited in her memory bank. She didn't know what would have happened to the Earth if the use continued, or that the Corruption was birthed in this very spot -she didn't even know what the Corruption was! Never even heard of it. She had been asleep for thousands of years, and her projection had picked up nothing. But she knew that this was her assignment, and that she had failed the assignment. Amber had failed her mission. She had failed her diamond, and she would never forgive herself for it.
"Hello?" Amber called out, her voice echoing, bouncing off the canyon walls. "Any chance that someone could actually be here? Anyone at all?"
She passed by an Injector, the image being reflected in her eyes as she walked by. That was the tool, huh? She began to remember her own Kindergarten back on the world she came from. It was nothing like this place; both were grand, but this place was quite... eerily different. It made shivers crawl up and down her spine, forcing her to hug herself for comfort. Two large glowing forms appeared in front of her Gem: a pair of butterfly-esque wings, allowing her flight capabilities. She hovered a few feet off the ground at first, but then eventually glided forward, trying to search out other Gems -if any at all- in this morally forbidden place.
Look at all the holes here... all the Gems made... Her chest swelled with pride as she flew, but the creepy-factor of this place seemed a little to strong to support pride. Still though, hadn't Homeworld been successful in creating Gems? Where were those Gems now? What happened to this place? A place that could've been great...?
