The healing fountain was almost empty that day. Only about three crystal gems where there, cleaning or randomly pacing about the fountain. They were never expecting company. The Water of the fountain was said to be the same as Rose Quart'z healing tears. One of the best cures for cracked gems, the fountain was definitely a valuable resource. Except for the splashing of the fountain it was quiet. In the tranquil atmosphere no one knew that they were being watched.
Nearby, about a mile away were two homeworld gems. A Bloodstone gem, commonly called Octavian, And an Obsidian gem. The Obsidian Gem's gemstone was cracked, providing the reason for their visit. When Obsidian's gem is cracked the side effects are a loss of powers and she unwillingly shapeshifts into a smaller, chibi form of herself. She needed to be healed if she was going to do any of her jobs successfully. So she was being escorted by Bloodstone in fear that the crystal gems might recognize her and take action before she could heal.
The fountain waters shimmered. Obsidian wanted to simply run into them, but at the same time she knew it couldn't be that easy. She looked at her escort for confirmation.
Octavian sighed as they walked up to the fountain. He had talked with Obsidian a little more after the conversation about finding Carbide, and when he learned that she had been cracked, he had to do what was needed. No gem deserved to be cracked, no matter who it was. "Alright, we're almost there. Most of the crystal gems here don't care who gets healed..for the most part at least" Bloodstone shrugged "I mean, I've come here more than once, and technically speaking I'm on both sides of the whole gem conflict thing. I just try my best to keep this place in shape whenever I can." He looked down at Obsidian as they walked up to the fountain "So how long have you been cracked anyway?"
"Eh, a few hours, not a big problem" She replied in a comically squeaky voice. "So eh, what do you mean by you're on both sides? What do the Diamonds think of this?" Obsidian was full of question. She believed that the Diamond authority was perfect and would never doubt them, but she never perceived them to be tolerant. Drawing near to the fountain Obsidian half expected someone to try to stop her out of apprehension but nobody came. In fact, the last time she was there nobody tried to interfere so she reconsidered why she was worried in the first place. As they got to the fountain she encountered a problem. The wall of the fountain was too high. The Embarrassment of being picked up was too much for her. "I got this!" She declared proudly. She attempted to jump, but her short, stubby legs caused her to only move about three inches off the ground and then tumble onto her face.
"The Diamonds don't really think much because they don't know. I was one of the gems who signed up for the colonization here on Earth. After I got here, the communications I was getting slowed down." Bloodstone sighed "I mean I'm independent, technically. I help out in whatever situation can benefit me in the end. That's just what's easiest for me." He tried not to laugh as Obsidian attempted to jump into the fountain. "Here..let me help you out some there. Just hold on." Octi carefully picked up Obsidian and set her down in the fountain's waters "There you go. Now we just wait until the waters start to do their work and heal that little crack of yours,:
The water around Obsidian bubbled. In a few moments a glowing light could be seen from inside the water. Suddenly Obsidian emerged from the fountain. Her gem was healed and she had changed form, she was now in correct proportions. She shook water out of her hair, leaning to the side of the fountain as to not get Octavian wet. She somersaulted out of the fountain and stood uncontrollably smiling at no longer being cracked. "Ah it feels so good to be back to normal!" She said, stretching her arms and legs. "I can't thank you enough Bloodstone!" She said, being unaware of what he was called. "So... do you know much about the crystal gems?" She mumbled. "I actually kind of like earth, but I don't want to cause any problems with homeworld. All of the things I've seen here are amazing, I don't want them to be destroyed... Still, I can't let my diamond down..."
Bloodstone smiled when he saw Obsidian get repaired by the fountain. It felt good to see a gem get fixed up, no one deserved to glitch out. "Ah it's nothing. I don't mind helping gems out when they need to be patched up. No big deal." Octi looked down at her "Well..I know the Crystal Gems at least started after that whole deal with Rose Quartz. And I know how you feel, this planet's gotten kind of attached to me. Then again I suppose that comes with being on here for a few extra decades than other gems" He laughed a little bit but then sighed and shrugged "I'll be honest, I don't know what to suggest. White Diamond isn't as war obsessed as Yellow, so I can't really say much about wanting to help my diamond.."
"What do you mean you can't say much about it? I actually met My Diamond, she was a perfect being just like I was told!" Obsidian declared remembering White Diamond's interactions with her. "One time, I even got to touch her cape!" Obsidian shivered at the thought. Clearly obsessed with her Diamond. Noticing that this was getting awkward she decided to ask a question. "Hey, what do you think about all of the stuff that's going on? Is it true that the kindergartens are making the earth less fit for human life? Are they all going to die if we continue? And, where do you stand here? Do you want to help us or the humans?" Obsidian was looking at the floor, almost as if she was thinking about something else as they talked.
Octavian sighed in slight frustration. "You're lucky. With the way Yellow Diamond is, not a lot of gems really got the chance to talk to her like other gems might be able to with their Diamonds. All I was to her was another Quartz Knight..sometimes I wonder if she really cares about me." He thinks for a second and looks a bit nervous before deciding to respond to Obsidian "I...don't know. From what I've heard..and seen...I think that's true. And I'm afraid that the humans might all die should we continue our work. As for where I stand...I don't know. You talked with Morion, right? He should have told you all about how I am with trying to be independent, not taking a side, even though I'm probably gonna have to take a side like he says nearly every time that comes up..I just hate stuff like this, having to choose sides."
Obsidian took a step to the side so that one of her feet was perpendicular to the other. "It's not as much about choosing sides as it is choosing in general" She began. "All you really have to decide is which idea you prefer. Consider what the diamonds are saying, but also consider what the Crystal gems are saying. Then fight for whatever of those two ideas you agree with. I guess I'm kind of a hypocrite for saying that though... I don't care what the diamonds say, I just want approval from my diamond. It seems like Yellow diamond is a lot different from my diamond... I think the decision should be based off of what you believe to be right." Obsidian looked around. "Uh, maybe we should go back to Empire City, I heard that Carbide visits there sometimes"
"True..." Bloodstone nodded and smiled at Obsidian "That's very true. And yeah, each one of the diamonds is different from the other. I mean all of them care about Homeworld obviously but some of them go to more...drastic measures than others" He sighed and shrugged "We can go back if you want...I don't know if Morion would want to see me right now. Erm..that's how you did get my number in the first place, right? What all did he tell you about me? I'm only asking because Morion is a gem that can have his way with words, to say the very least." Bloodstone looked around as they started to walk some more, making sure no one was going too question them
Obsidian walked with him, following his actions and avoiding the gazes of anyone else who was there. "Why wouldn't he like to see you? Did you do something? It must have been recent because he recommended you. So yeah, he gave me your number. He didn't tell me much except that you were a knight and all that jazz." The two neared the warp pad. Fortunately nobody had questioned them, let alone looked at them. "And yeah I get what you mean. He is kinda poetic." She said, grinning. "And he seems a bit violent toward the crystal gems, do you think he actually wants to destroy this place? The gems here don't seem like they're too hostile, I don't see the point in fighting here..." They were about a meter from the warp pad.
Bloodstone chuckled and smiled. "No, it's more the fact that I didn't tell him about the fountain in the first place. It's hard for me to trust Morion sometimes due to the fact that he prefers to work for Homeworld and me for both sides." He rolled his eyes and sighed "Not surprised by that. And...I don't know...he seemed willing to save Earth if possible when I talked to him. You have to realize me and Morion have a bit of a..special connection. I'm able to talk to him sometimes whenever no other gem might be able to get much info. It comes in handy" Octi blushed a little but didn't say anything else other than that
Obsidian gave a curious glance. She smirked and put her arms behind her head. "Well, yeah he didn't even know about it. The reason that he knew was because...I told him about it... He was so mad about it, he wanted to just go and attack it. I don't care for the crystal gems all that much either, but they aren't defending that place and openly let me heal twice." She tilted her head a bit. "What do you mean willing to save the earth if possible? As long as I don't let the diamonds down I'd love to save earth too... And what do you mean by a special connection?" Obsidian realized that Octavian would probably not want to discuss that. "Er..Ready to warp?"
Bloodstone sighed and shook his head "that doesn't surprise me.." He looked back down at Obsidian and shrugged "I don't think this place deserves to get destroyed, okay? Remember, you have a bit more of a connection to the Diamonds than I do. I don't even know if Yellow Diamond WANTS me anymore. And as for the special connection...well...let's just say we've given fusion some thought, alright? I'll leave it at that right now and let you deal with the thoughts that come with that" He giggled and smiled, not minding spreading a rumor here and there. "Yeah, I'm ready. Let's head on back." Bloodstone hopped up onto the warp pad, helping Obsidian up and humming a little to himself
When Bloodstone mentioned Morion giving fusion some thought with him Obsidian's eyes widened. She gave Octavian a look but then her expression softened. "Well, White diamond never asked me to destroy this place, and if she did, it would be a bad move. This place is a resource. Nobody should destroy a monument like this." Obsidian spread her arms out preparing to warp. She looked back at Octavian. "You thought about fusion with Morion...and that wasn't because you needed to fight a monster I'd guess. Has anyone else thought about fusion with him or are you the only one? I really want to know this before I see him again..." Obsidian stood with her arms out looking at bloodstone, ready to warp.

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
