It was a dark and stormy night. Lighting crashed, providing light in the pitch black valley. The rain was coming down hard, but due to several crevasses nearby the valley didn't flood. Nothing was nearby, it was in the middle of a wasteland.
The building was a hotel, it was once called 'Tour du Ciel' named after it's brilliance. Years passed, the owners gave up their establishment due to a lack of money. Ever since it had remained bare until now. A lone gem was nearby, the first in many years to see it. Lightning struck nearby, it had a deafening roar.
Moving near to it one could make their way about by the light from the lampposts outside the gate. The Gate was closed, but at the center the bars were bent. The bent gate had a large dent in in, allowing unwanted passage from anyone nearby ... if the hotel's demeanor wasn't enough to repel intruders.
The front door had a doorknocker in the shape of a face. The face was stretched, the mouth was unnaturally wide as if screaming, and the eyes were solid and empty. Lightning flashed and the eyes were illuminated for a second, but they faded so fast that one wouldn't believe they ever had changed.

Morion was right, it wasn't a good idea to be flying in the storm... Chip didn't see anything. Rain was getting in his eyes and it was extinguishing his fire wings, he had to waste a lot of energy to stay airborne. That wasn't the main problem though... the main trouble right now was, that he hadn't even the slightest clue where he was. In other words - he was hopelessly lost.
Another lighting hit the ground, scaring the little gem even more, but in that brief flash of light he saw a silhouette of some kind of manor in the distance. Whatever it was, it was much better than staying in the rain. Chip quickly covered the distance to the building, hoping to find some safety from the weather, but in another hit of lighting it seemed kinda creepy... and abandoned. There was no time to think... quickly inside...
Another lighting hit, this time deafening the little gem with thunderous sound... and in that moment he spotted another person nearby, person, that successfully scared him to death. Enough for him to loose concentration and with it his wings. He dropped down like a rock right in front of that person...
The man bend down and grabbed Chip by the hair. He hoisted the small gem to his feet and examined him. The man was nothing but a human. He was an older man and his cheeks pulled inward, making his cheek bones stand out. He didn't seemed withered by his age, in fact it seemed to make him look quite sharp. He tilted his head to the side.
"How did you find this place..." The man said, his voice as raspy as leaves on a windy day. "It is hidden... are you here by chance or by choice? You cannot control what you are unaware of..." He cleared his throat
The door clicked behind Chip. It was locked! The man's face remained emotionless, he wasn't even near the door. How did it get locked?

"Hey, stop touching me or I will blast you into oblivion!"
Chip exploded. He hated when someone touched him. It was one of the few things that could really get him angry in an instant. Even now, when he was healed he still hated being touched...
"Stop being so cryptic... I fell here by accident, I got lost in the darkness and rain... trust me, I had no intention to visit this creepy place... I just thought it was better to ride out the storm inside... if you don't want me here I will leave..."
He said. He didn't care about some locked door, he could easily fly over them... still, this place gave him the chills, it was perfect for some zombie movie...
The man instantly withdrew his hand as if he'd touched fire. His face wore a look of disgust, as if he was smelling garlic.
"Leave? If only you could do that..." The Man said. He pointed at the door. "You need to collect three artifacts to open that door, a key, a glove, and a clock."
The man seemed very agitated.
"They are by no means easy to access. They are all possessed by what I judge to be spirits." The man's emotionless expression didn't fade. "The thought of being stuck with you forever is sickening...go straight to the elevator, it's fastest. One of each item is on floor three, five, and fifteen. Also...no matter what you do DONT go to the thirteenth floor."
The man's ominous tone during his warning was a bit disturbing. It was meant to be, to get the warning across.

"Yeah, sorry about what I said... I just don't like other people touching me... it gets me angry really fast."
He explained himself, after all it was rude of him to act that way. Then again that weird person was asking for it, when he grabbed him...
"I am tired from fighting the storm... I really don't want to play any games... I would really appreciate if you just open the doors, otherwise I would be forced to open them by myself... I think I would rather be in the storm then here... no offence, but this is getting way too creepy for me..."
This place was scary and that guy was extremely creepy... like undead level of creepy... and apparently loved to scare anyone, who got close to his creepy old murder house...
The man's face was solemn and stale expressing extreme boredom at this comment. He rested his head on his hand.
"I can't let you out you dimwit! I would very much like to, but these doors are enchanted! I wouldn't have asked you to find me those items otherwise!" The man sighed and collected himself. "The whole hotel is full of specters, I can't get anything to work... I'd much like to have my privacy but you felt like barging in..."
The man looked Chip in the eyes. His eyes narrowed.
"I want to be alone... I need these items to be alone. You're going to get these items for me correct?" He glared at Chip. "Nothing can break those doors except for the artifacts I have items for!"

"Dimwit?! Who the heck are you to call me that? And why do you think I would do your dirty work? If you want those "artefacts" then go and fetch them yourself... I am not your delivery boy... and if those door are enchanted then I will blast them... I am an eternal flame... I won't be defeated by doors..."
He said impatiently. He understood nothing, how he got here... who was that weird person, how could old manor be enchanted... or what was that weird guy saying...
"And who are you anyway..."
He finally asked question, that he should've asked at the beginning. It wasn't exactly polite, to demand this without introducing himself first, but this guy wasn't big on manners, why should Chip be then?
"I can call you what I deem to fit you..." He said stalely. "If I had any sort of powers I would have fetched them for you, but I'm a human and not very strong of one at that... If you're so bent on making a fool out of yourself then go have at the doors."
He bent down and scooped up a metal safe. In order to lift it he was surprisingly stronger than he looked. With all of his might he hurled it at the doors. The metal safe, crumbled to bits.
"Who am I? I don't see why that matters or why I should tell you but maybe it will get you to move more quickly!" He snapped straightening his tie. "I am St.Pierre! The previous owner of this building, and a resident there. So I would appreciate it if I could be the only resident."

"You can't fight magic with iron... you have to fight magic with magic... and I just happen to be expert on breaking doors..."
The little orange gem said and summoned his solar lance, pointing it at the door. He never destroyed door before to be honest, so he wasn't really an expert... but fire was good at destroying door...
"Eat fire, door!"
He yelled and blasted the magic door with fire from his lance. He could burn the entire house to the ground if needed, he had absolutely no intent of searching for some stupid artefacts... and especially alone... this place was too creepy. The man was creepy too, but it was better then being alone... he stopped with his fire barrage, looking at the door...
"This is taking longer than it has to... I didn't want it to wake up but it might due to your sheer stupidity!" he yelled, a tad of fear in his voice. Lightning flashed, illuminating the room. When the flash had ended the man was gone, thunder rolled. Chip was completely alone in the room. He could have sworn he saw something move. There was a sound like something had scratched across the carpet.
Another flash of lightning and several of the candles went out. The elevator doors opened on their own... a dull green light shone from within it. The light wasn't like sunlight or even electric light, it had this dark, depressing feel to it. From the most recent flash of lightning it's thunder rolled, louder, it was nearby.

Of course the creepy guy vanished without a trace... because otherwise this wouldn't be as creepy as possible. Chip was starting to understand, that he got into a huge mess... well... he had to try and get out somehow. And without destroying the house the only option he knew about was to find the stupid artefacts... With that depressing thought he slowly went to the elevator... what was the guy saying? Third... and fifth and then... uhm... some other... and avoiding... yet another one... he wasn't really listening to him all that well... he entered the obviously cursed elevator and tried to get it moving to the third floor... strange... this place wasn't really that big... how could it have more then 3 levels?
The elevator made clicking sounds as if it was about to break the entire trip. It took about two minutes to reach the third floor, but those two minutes felt like an eternity. Looking outside one would realize that the floor had not gone closer or farther from the window than it appeared at first. Had the building moved and the elevator stayed still? The doors opened, a pitch black hallway awaited him. One by one the eerie lamps on the walls lit themselves, casting the strange dull light of the elevator. Ahead as a double door that had scratch marks on it. Something was moving in the next room. It sounded as if furniture was being pushed about. Paintings were on the walls of humans from the 1800s. It appeared to have once been a luxorious estate.

The stupid elevator was slow... it was making creepy noises, because of course... plus Chip had the feeling that he was sitting faster, then this elevator was moving. After several forevers he finally got to the 3rd floor. Suddenly all the lamps lit themselves, one after another, this house was one huge cliché. Fortunately, Chip wasn't a mere human, he was a gem and gems were warrior, created for combat, they conquered dozens of planets in hundreds of galaxies! Or was it the other way around? Unfortunately Chip never heard about gems conquering cursed houses... and he was scared pretty badly... Slowly, step by step, Chip walked forward, looking for this "artefact". He was still holding his lance, prepared to impale the first thing that would be unwise enough to cross his way, even if it would be just a bat...
The unlucky creature was what appeared to be a large eel. Upon being stabbed it let out an unearthly sounding cry. It's eyes were the most visible thing, as they glowed in the dark of the room. It's teeth also were glowing in it's mouth. The eel had transparent skin revealing that it had a gem. It was a corrupted gem! It also seemed to have glove inside of it's body. It had swallowed the artifact!
The Eel was not a weak opponent, it had not been poofed by the deep blow from Chip's lance. It's scream however was proof that Chip definitely had done some damage. It recoiled, seemingly planning a strategy. It was ready to strike back at it's enemy. The creature leapt toward Chip and coiled around him, in an attempt to squeeze him.
This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
