"Nah... don't worry about it. If you want to know anything just ask away. I was in... similar situation. I was keeping away from gems for most of my life, I needed someone to tell me all those things... I'm happy I can help you."
He conjured up an honest and warm smile. It was to meet someone who... actually seemed pretty similar to him at this moment.
"I like ocean too... but mostly from the aerial view... after all water and fire... let's say ocean has it's own opinions on the eternity of my flames... "
Chip knew he was quite tough, but even he couldn't fight the ocean...
"This planet is all I've ever known... I never saw any other place so I can't compare... but I like Earth... I can understand why there are gems that are protecting it..."
After spending a seemingly endless time, staring off into the waving ocean, Ice got up off of the sandy floor.
He reached down and brushed sand off of his body and scarf, carefully getting at every last speck. Then he turned around and looked to everything behind him. He had almost been ignoring the vast land mass behind him, somehow distracted by the same water that he'd been looking at for over a year. Or was it, for some reason, the ocean really did look different, Ice no longer cursed it and its huge size, instead he felt thankful, as if it purposely brought him to this beach.
As for the land behind him, he was suddenly very eager to begin exploration, one of his favourite parts of a mission was getting to see new places, and this time there was no wind, no violent lava, no storms, and no ice, it was truly the most unique place he had ever been to. He never got missions on places like this, simply because he wasn't made for them, but now, before the Diamonds would arrive, he could check all of this out without anything holding him back.
"Can I...um...maybe...go over there" Ice pointed in no general direction, essentially gesturing to all of what was behind them. Looking over at Chip like a kid asking if they could go jump on a bounce castle.
He probably didn't need to ask, but he always felt more comfortable doing something if he got approval from somewhere first. There was no captain around, so it didn't really matter to him where that approval came from, he just wanted to hear it.

Chip started to laugh, but not AT Ice, it was pure and quite nice laugh. "Sure you can, you can go anywhere you want... that's the beauty of it... at least part of it. I spent days just flying here and there... checking up forests, lakes, mountains... there are so much to see... and if you like exploring you could easily spent years, if not decades exploring and still having new places to see..."
He said. Sure, he had the advantage of being able to fly, it made the exploring much faster. "I could go with you if you want... or I can go my own way if you don't want to talk anymore..."
He was always looking to find some new friends... but he understood that Ice might want to be alone... after being in ice so long he might need to be alone with his though...
"Come with, who else is going to answer all the questions I'm going to have!" Ice realised he might be getting ahead of himself "If you don't have anything else to do of course" He was just excited, there was something about the new and unexplored, that Ice was always fond of. He liked not knowing what was coming, just taking a blind leap every now and then when it didn't actually matter and there was nothing at stake.
Ice wanted to get around faster, so he figured it was time to summon his gem weapon. Ice was excited to show Chip his weapon, he had been ever since he saw Chip summon that insane fire lance earlier, now he hoped to blow Chip's gravity connectors off, just as Chip had done for him.
Ice jumped up and summoned two ice skates, one on each foot, completing it with a spin before landing gracefully onto the sand. Where he ended up staying put.
He looked down, confused for just a moment before realising what a stupid mistake he had made. His face blushed in the same dark blue it had before, except this time to a greater extent. He had never had to use the skates outside of frozen wastelands or that time when he travelled on the water to the sea spire, it hadn't really occurred to him that they needed a floor like ice to actually work. Now he was just kind of awkwardly standing sunk into the sand for much too long before finally dissipating his skates.

"Heh, fair enough. So let's go."
He laughed a little, since it was quite a bold statement, but he liked how Ice was confident. And Ice seemed little out of his element and Chip wanted to help him. For some reason he instantly liked him... weird...
Then something strange happen, Ice jumped in the air, summoning his weapon for no reason. It was quite spectacular actually... only slightly ruined by the ending. Granted, Ice descended gracefully onto ground... with ice skates...
Chip blanked few times. "Somehow I have this feeling this didn't go the way you wanted... "
He said after an awkward moment of silence. It seemed that Ice was accustomed to water / ice environment. With that Chip summoned his fire wings again, grabbed Ice and pulled him from the sand.
"How about some aerial view?"
He said. He was strong enough to carry another person while flying... for some time at least...
"Uh, Umm..." Ice knew his hands, er... his whole body, was very very cold, so much so, that a lot of gems had screamed or yelled in surprise when they had gone to shake hands with him, it wasn't really harmful, just very uncomfortable, and maybe a little painful after a long enough period of time. Ice was about to ask Chip if he was tolerating it okay, and then let him know that he didn't have to carry him, but he got distracted suddenly.
Ice seemed to fall under a spell, completely and utterly taken away by the view. He'd never gotten to see one of the planets he'd visited through the windows of the ships, and as a result, he'd never actually seen a view from above like this before. It was so natural and peaceful, just like the ocean over at the edge of the beach. He wondered, just for a second, if the rest of the planet was all going to be like this. He even considered that if this is what the rebel gems are protecting, then maybe they aren't so bad after all. However, Blue Diamond was never wrong, so there was no way real way of justifying a rebellion, even if they had a pretty good reason to.
Everything was stunning, and he was able to go wherever he wanted, it was too good to be true. He kept switching the view of his eyes, admiring a new thing with every passing moment, all he could let out was a not so subtle "Wow!" His jaw never dropped, but it would have if it wasn't already so busy chattering.

Ice was, not so surprisingly. quite cold, fortunately Chip was the eternal flame, so even though it was slightly uncomfortable it was in no way troubling for now. He was completely silent for a while, just smiling. It seemed that Ice is enjoying the view, at least Chip thought so, since he felt completely silent too.
This was quite lovely area... he understood why people are coming here. And also why some gems were staying here. And it was much much more quiet then Empire city...
"It really is lovely, isn't it..."
He broke the silence after Ice'es "wow".
"I wonder if there are planets even more beautiful... I never saw anything beyond Earth... have you seen some other planets?"
"I have.." Ice looked down again at the beautiful scenery, "But I wasn't made to sight see, I was made to go to the less lovely areas of planets, and for that reason, I haven't seen places like this before." Even the ice coated northern side of Earth was much nicer than what he was used to. He figured that the other parts of the planets he'd worked on were nice, but never this nice. This was... this was comparable to the likes of Homeworld.
He wondered what it was like, being made on Earth, and then never leaving. He wasn't quite sure if it was a good thing or a bad thing, just that it must be weird. Ice still kind of wondered about Chip, he didn't know a whole lot of gems, but Chip stood out as unique from the ones that he had met. He didn't think it was a bad thing, actually quite the contrary, but it brought a lot of mystery about, in that Ice wasn't exactly sure why. He hoped that all the other gems on Earth were going to be much like Chip. "Oh my gosh, what are those!" Ice suddenly blurted out, waving his pointed finger at the various buildings just off from the beach, once again distracted from his previous thoughts.

"Earth is planet of firsts... I think. I, for example, have no idea why I was made... for what purpose... so I found my own. Most gem adapted here on Earth, doing something different, because their previous purpose lost it's... well purpose... I saw Bismuth, who was making children toys... because why should he erect spires, when there is hardly anyone to enjoy them?"
Pretty much all the gems he knew were doing something they originally shouldn't. Though that could change soon, with the arrival of Pink Diamond. But Chip wasn't a Sapphire, he couldn't see in the future... meanwhile, they reached the outskirts of Beach city.
"This is a city, a human settlement. This one is called Beach city... because it's a city... that is on the beach... "
Ice remembered his huge discovery, back at the frozen part of Earth. How much finding usable ground beneath the ice and snow used to matter to him. But now, that meant nothing. Earth really was a place of firsts, for the first time ever, he felt like he had no purpose. This might have bothered some gems, but for him, he wasn't ready to buckle over it. If what Chip says is true, then he would find a new purpose just like the Bismuth had.
Something else was digging at him. Although this place was entirely splendid, he could tell that he didn't belong here. He figured it out way back in the iceberg, and again when he summoned his weapon. His skills were less than useless here. His gem weapon only slowed him down, and his body could easily freeze itself in an ice prison again if he ever fell into the water from high up again. At first it bothered him, but now... it almost seemed like a challenge. If he could explore the land, then he could prove to himself that it didn't matter, and that's exactly what he planned to do.
Everything seemed so dark for a long time, but something changed all of that, now he could see good in even the worst things in life.
He tried to look up at Chip, but ended up looking back down at the ground below. "Hey Chip," Ice stopped shivering, just for a second. "Thank you"

They flew slowly over Beach city... some humans noticed them, pointing in their direction, but most were just doing their things... people in Empire city already got used to his flyovers, but he wasn't around those parts that much. He had to smile a little when Ice thanked him. "You're quite welcome, after all, that's what friend are for, right?"
He said while changing direction slightly. Right before them was Funland - Beach city amusement park. It wasn't nearly as impressive as the ones in Empire city, but still... it was quite impressive, well for amusement park at least. Right behind it was ocean again... some fishing ship were sailing near the coastline... "It's pretty from up here, isn't it? But if you want down, just say a word, I will land..."
Friend. Is that what Chip was. Ice had never had a friend, not like this. Sure, he had the odd person who he'd work with that was nice or interesting, but they would complete their work and then vanish from his life forever. For some reason, Chip was much different, a true... friend as he had called it.
Down below, was a huge mix of new things. He saw all sorts of creatures, moving about, humans as he recalled. He had heard about them before he came to Earth, but never had he seen them. On top of the humans, were all sorts of foreign structures and machines, some in the water, and some on the land, but very few of them made sense to him. Why would they put that ship on a track that only goes around in circles? Ice was concerned, and puzzled at the same time. More and more of the structures seemed to make less sense to him, all of them were in one area, surrounding the weird circle ship.
Ice just remembered something important that he'd forgotten. "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!" He had forgotten to warn Chip about his freezing cold body. "I should've told you about my..." Ice trailed off a bit as he looked up at Chip, who didn't appear to be in any serious discomfort at all. "Wait, how are you able to handle, carrying me for so long?" Ice switched from worry to confusion, he'd never seen this happen before, but he did have an idea of why Chip could stand it.

As they were flying Ice suddenly begun to apologise. Chip actually panicked by the sudden words, and got closed to dropping Ice by accident. Fortunately he managed to keep him. Before he could ask what's it about he continued, but instead of explaining it, it got even more puzzling.
"You are really not so heavy... and I'm a gem warrior... much stronger then I look..."
He didn't even considered, that Ice is talking about his powers, not his weight. Well not right away at least... but since he was thinking about it, he slowly came to realisation, that Ice is actually quite cold...
"Oh you mean ... heh... I told you I'm an eternal flame, didn't I? I'm an endless source of heat... so sure, your cold drains my power as I need to heat up... but it would take a long time to get into any danger... I hope..."
Well that was a relief. after Chip's initial answer, Ice realised that his wording could have been phrased better, but Chip seemed to figure out what he meant afterwards. What really mattered was that Chip could handle the cold, guess that's why he called himself an eternal flame, Ice initially took it as just a title. "So you really are a gem warrior?" Ice had his suspicions ever since he saw the weapon Chip summoned, but Chip's personality and appearance threw those suspicions away almost as quickly as they had arisen. He looked up at Chip's fire wings, he'd seen something similar done with water before, but he'd never seen a gem fly using fire. It was really neat, to say the least.
Usually there was a pretty good filter on what Ice would say, but right now he seemed to just talk without thinking. "I gotta say, I'm pretty jealous, being able to fly around whenever and wherever you want, that has to be the coolest thing ever. I really just can't thank you enough for taking me up here, to get to experience this, it was just so amazing."
Ice really was jealous of Chip's powers, not in a bad way, it was more of an admiration for them than it was jealousy. Ice just continued to smile, he was content with everything Chip had done for him.

"Uhm... I am not sure what I am..."
He signed, it always come down to that story... and he was a little tired of telling it, but it probably had to be told.
"There was an accident... a landslide that damaged my gem before I emerged... I came out chipped... so I miss a tun of info I should have known by default... and I was stuck with this tiny form... I got healed since... but this is who I am... so I chose to keep this form... "
He told the abridged version.
"All of us were created with powers we need for the task we were created for... I guess... but I have no idea what I was created for... but since I have a weapon... and I can fly... I guess I should've been some special kind of warrior? Like commando perhaps? And don't mention it... I am really happy I could show you world from different perspective... "

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
