"Whose official business I wonder... and I asked first who you are... but to move things along I'm Chip the Fire Opal, protector of Empire city... this city... and when someone falls from the sky in the middle of this city I am naturally curious... and to correct the knowledge of your war machine this city is ruled by the Smokey Quartz Morion, the Wrath of her Majesty the Blue Diamond herself... "
He said, prepared to summon his weapon the very instant something go wrong. "You are on his territory right now, so I will ask you one more time - who are you, and what are you doing here."
Chip had no intention of fighting other gems, but he was going to protect this city if needed. And gems falling from the sky could only mean troubles... he hoped that this will get solve quickly and without fighting. For some weird reason he wasn't very happy about the prospect of fighting a gem and a fusion at the same time...
Before the large, pale Quartz could even twitch a finger the light swirling around their fists condensed into solid form, two massive gauntlets, yellow diamonds emblazoned upon the back of their hands. Eyes cut for a moment to his new ally, the fusion, a brow perking in confusion as the less agreeable words of the..Opal? Registered. "Blue Diamond?.." they murmured quietly, face twisted in confusion, weight shifting to bring them closer to Pyrope, " be ready for anything.." this new, tiny gem was obviously quite confused. " I think you're in the wrong place, Opal," their voice lifted clearly so the winged challenger could hear them, " this colony, including this city," they added, "belongs to Pink Diamond." They then motioned to the other gems over their shoulder with a massive thumb, Pyrope included. "We've been sent by her divine clarity, Yellow Diamond, to assist in regaining control." And fight rebels, of course, to put down the pointless little insurrection. "We're all on the same side, aren't we?" In the past, it would have seemed an obsurd question. But not anymore.
Pyrope stood tall, confident in her affiliation for once. It wasn't too often she could wear her loyalty on her sleeve as it were, being on official business was... nice. She whispered back to XB than anyone, "Ready at a moment's notice..." The Opal's claims were just as confusing to her, she had never heard of this 'Morion' before. Then again, she hadn't known of this city for a while so it was entirely possible she had just missed him entirely. Of course the 'war machine' comment got her going, "Who do you think-!" she stopped, as much as she detested the comment it was what a loyalist would see. It's all they'd see...
She glanced back at the rubies to make sure they were prepared, knowing they weren't exactly... skilled combatants. They couldn't be called entirely incompetent, but they couldn't hold a fight on their own for long. Pyrope was lucky she was made to be a little more sturdy than a ruby, albeit lacking the basic (and she did mean basic) tech-training they received. She looked back up at this 'Chip', "Look, we're not here to cause trouble. If you and this 'Morion' are truly loyalists surely you'd lend your assets to this quartz here in their official mission." After all, she figured a gem that ruled over a city like this would certainly has some resources they could put to use.
7XB already didn't like the idea of this supposedly loyal gem spontaneously fluttering out of the woodwork, spouting Blue Diamond far from one of her colonies; worse, claiming some sort of dominion. Though it should be said that the Quartz soldier was naturally wary, it could easily be warranted, as only time would tell of this 'Morion' and his forces were truly who they claimed to be. It was odd how quickly they insisted the entire city was free of rebels.. "We'll be the judge of that, Opal," they insisted imperiously, their stance shifting to one that was far less threatening, but no more relaxed to be sure: this entire rock was still a warzone, as far as Homeworld was concerned. The Pyrope fusion, they were glad to see, fell back into the Homeworld mentality pretty well, so far as one gem could tell, anyway. It was pragmatic to worry about the Rubies, as the Quartz commander always did, but they were standing strong, or as strong as they could, miniscule red limbs coiled and ready to strike, or fuse, on command. "Hm, maybe," they continued, voice layered with thick suspicion, " What exactly is your mission on this planet? I wasn't aware any of the reclamation teams sent by Blue Diamond had met with any success." Infact, the Moon Base hadn't heard from any of the lost gems sent to this planet for two years, as they understood it. "Are we the first team you've come into contact with? They'll want a report." Too many one sided questions, it was their turn.
The fusion began to relax, albeit only slightly, as things seemed to calm down. She rested the weapon against the ground in one hand, placing her other hand on her hip as the newcomer floated down to them. She let XB do the talking, she was never one for it anyways. True to her design she preferred much more to hit things, or make sure things didn't get hit. She spaced herself just ahead of XB, a little off to the side, as to be in position to intercept if the new gem made a move for the quartz. Of course she was fully aware XB could probably handle themselves, after all they were a quartz, but it still served to make sure no low-blows were dealt early on. Content to staying silent, she focused instead on reading the body language of this 'Chip'.

"So, first of all, I am not an Opal... if anything I am the Fire Opal... but I call myself Chip. And if I say there are no rebels here it's because there are no rebels here... Morion hates them, he would never allow any of them in his city... and neither would I..."
He said. He knew some gems could be quite arrogant, but this one? Meh... "I have no mission on this planet... I was made here on Earth and..."
He thought for a moment.
"... and I am actually a member of Pink Diamond's court... and I can assure you, that this planet is quite different from what you thought... there is no open conflict here... yes, loyal gem and rebels don't like each other... but those are more... skirmishes then battles... at least now. The rebels did sabotage all means of communications though... "
He explained why there was no contact so far. Then he smiled warmly at the fusion. "Oh... and if I really wanted to fight you I would burn you to crisp from the sky... but if you won't attack first you have nothing to fear from me... "
It still wasn't all that threatening coming from a kid...
By the stars, this Opal was a chatsy one, weren't they? The Quartz commander wasn't really used to these diminutive Gems being so talkative or independent. 'Must be the planet,' they reasoned, a theory later confirmed as the other gem revealed their origins,' bad minerals, maybe. Lazy kindergartening.' "Chip?" They mimicked incredulously, a brow raising in serious confusion, "..Right." 7XB believed this Gem was a member of Pink Diamond's own court as much as they believed Blue Diamond had authorized this 'Morion': not at all; they did believe part of it, however. They were most certainly grown here. "I don't see a pink diamond on you anywhere," eyes traversed the entirety of the other's hard light form. "What's your designation exactly?.." come to think of it, they'd have to ask the same of the Pyropes. Later. Curious, this 'Chip'. Suspecious, even.. Their dull vision was full of doubt, but they had wasted enough time. The Rubies needed to take the pod, and they had plenty of work to do. "2FG," they called behind themselves, eyes remaining warily upon Chip, "all of you: prep the pod and return to the Moonbase. We'll rendezvous as scheduled." With the Pyropes accompanying them, the Quartz felt confident the mission would go more efficiently with just the three of them. No need for such a large team, at least not on this mission. Peaceful, right?
Pyrope, unknowingly, shared XB's thoughts on this 'Chip' gem. He was awfully sure of himself and whoever this Morion was, but perhaps it was for good reason. So far she hadn't seen any rebels, but they weren't exactly public about their membership so it was difficult to tell. She did feel like she had to speak up, "I'll be honest XB, he's right for the most part. Aside from some skirmishing, especially around the start of it all, there has been little to no conflict. Nothing on the scale of a war at least, mostly personal business." She didn't appreciate the comment about roasting them all from above if he wanted, but bit her tongue. Wasn't her place to take on a threat like that, and for all she knew he could be entirely capable of it. Best not test him and find out really...
Mentally she noted the lack of Pink Diamond regalia as well, something odd for a devout loyalist. Especially on the colony of their diamond, you think it'd be something to be proud of. Of course, unless this gem was lying to them. That then would have some interesting implications.

Chip burst into laughter. For some reason it was incredibly genuine laugh.
"Yup, you're right, there is no diamond insignia on me... there is no star either... the story around that is too long and too boring. The only thing you need to know is, that I'm not your enemy. I offered you my help... if you don't want it then fair enough, but I won't allow you to cause troubles in this city... "
He grew tired of all those questions, especially since most of them reminded him about his creation... not really nice memories.
"Like I said... rebels are keeping to themselves, mostly... they know very well that this city is protecting by some of the most powerful gems on Earth... it would be pure stupidity to come here. This planet is quite big... and there aren't that many gems left..."
It was quite some time since Chip even saw a rebel... that was even before he met Morion... the higher-ups probably knew very little about what was actually going on...
With their head on somewhat of a swivel, their gaze fell for a moment upon the Pyrope fusion, their semi-agreement with the words of this likely-defective gem clearly not doing anything for their mood, as true as it may be. "Good," the Quartz acknowledged crisply, " gives us plenty of breathing room for our retrieval mission." They had to get as many non combatants off this planet and back home as possible. Many of them would likely receive new assignments elsewhere where some, such as assets like the two Pyropes, would be held on retainer until the colony was secure.
"And you, Chip," they hurried on, ignoring what could simply be vague threats, "you can tell this..'Morion' that they can expect to be contacted shortly. That will be all." Angling themselves around the obstructing Gem, they continued onward as the Rubies scramble to make what final preparations were needed for lift off, the flimsy gangway vanishing into the side of the POD as the hatch sealed shut with no visible seem. 'Fusion, with me." They required their knowledge of the area after all, and it wouldn't make much sense to go galloping off into the unknown, not in the lion's den, with war rumbling on the horizon..
She continued to listen intently, minding her tongue for the most part. She had grown out of her trained silence and found it awkward to keep herself from interjecting into the conversation every now and then. She was about to start, "I-" before XB dismissed Chip. She came to attention as being called, "Yes XB!" Not for the first time it bothered her how easily she found herself slipping back into her role, minus the rather talkative trait she had picked up. She picked up her weapon and held it passively in one hand, pushing past Chip just barely behind XB. It occured to her that XB very likely had no idea where they was going, but didn't feel like she should speak up unless asked. If XB needed directions they would ask her, simple as that.

"That will be all... tha... tha... SERIOUSLY?!"
Chip looked like he is going to explode. But suddenly he calmed down completely. Just smiled at the quartz.
"But of course... I will tell him, don't worry."
He pulled out some kind of gem communicator and activated it.
"Hello? We have visitor's from yellow Diamond. And they really want to talk with you... fell into city in some kind of transport pod or something? Could you came and great them?"
He said into the communicator. Morion was after all ruler of this city, and those gems were guests here... very impolite guests... but Chip didn't want to attack them, after all they were loyalists too... just quite arrogant ones... Chip summoned his wings and followed them...
The Smoky Quartz was in the skyscraper, on the balcony and watched the City Chip call was... somewhat expected, considering the circumstances The Assassin had complete trust in his young apprentice and Chip's decisions This little "mission" with the visitors was a good traning for him
"I hear you kid... I am aware of the situation, don't worry, I was just curious how could you handle situations like this. The City's deffenses are online... and I'm sure Black Star Diopside is out there somewhere watching them too in her cloaked ship. So the City is in no real danger... after all, you are it's protector..."
But the young Fire Opal request was logical
"I sent her a message not to shoot. Please escort our guest to me... or I will go, whichever they prefer."
Not long after the two gems made their way past the other, the pod soundlessly retracted it's landing gear, rising steadily, albiet a bit wobbly, into the smoggy sky until it could no longer be seen by anyone on the ground. Only then did it take off, returning, for a time, to the Moon base.
7XB, for the most part, was of the mind that silence spoke volumes, and would not breach the topic of the interruption, there was no need. And at this point, something much more troubling occupied the Quartz soldier's mind. The Opal was trailing them, as expected. But to what end?
"Stay frosty, ladies," they ordered quietly, as to not draw attention, " it's tracking us..And I've got an idea why.." their dark eyes narrowed as they came to a halt at an intersection of sidewalks, but they gave no inclination of telling their theory, not yet. Until something happened, it was business as usual. " This is a major population center, correct?" This was much louder, nonchalant, even. "Which way?" To where? "We need to find a high spot, somewhere to survey this..City. Anything come to mind?"
Melody: as usual, just waiting for posts

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
