Lapis flew back to the same beach she had remembered walking to earlier. By this point she had probably gone back to her Kindergarten, and found it was nothing like she had remembered. No Kindergartners around, no way to contact Homeworld, no idea if she's supposed to be shattered or not for failing to return to the Kindergarten within the time allotted for her. With no instructions on what to do or where to go next, she decided her next step would be to just... sit on the beach.
She couldn't tell what was a more uncomfortable feeling—that she didn't know what to do for her Diamond now, or that she was currently not actively searching for her task. Should she look for someone who may be able to tell her what she's meant to do? Is it even worth risking herself in the case of accidentally asking one of the... 'rebels' for what she's meant to do for her Diamond? Is she even supposed to care about risking her life for service? Why are the rebels... rebel..ing.
It's all a lot for her to take in. All these questions and more weigh heavy on her mind as she lands on the beach. The water enveloping her arms to form wings collapses at once and splashes into the sand.
Maybe she should figure out a way to stop that from happening too.
She sighs, sits on the sand facing the ocean, and summons a small orb of water from her gem. She starts morphing it into simple shapes just to keep her mind occupied.

Few bubbles reach the surface... just harmlessly popped like nothing was happening. And, indeed, for some time nothing was happening. Then few more appeared... then again... and again... and in few moments it seemed like a small area was boiling, but how could that be? It become quiet obvious, when small orange gem shoot from the water in the air on wings of fire. He pointed his lance on the surface off water and blasted it with fire...
Now he knew it wasn't a good idea, trying to fight a water creature in water. His flames were not strong enough to challenge the enormous vastness of the ocean... but he survived and escaped... and that counted for something. And even though he was quite tired he flew to the shore, landing on beach where he collapsed in the sand, gasping... he didn't even noticed the presence of other gems... he was so tired...
Lapis squints and leans forward when the water begins to boil, and stops shaping the orb of water in her hands. Once the gem emerges from the water and starts shooting fire down at the ocean, Lapis yelps and tenses up as the orb of water instantly freezes and plops down onto the sand. Simultaneously she scrambles backwards on her butt.
Once it's all over, she blinks and leans forward again to watch the figure fly to the beach. Once they collapse, she picks herself up and hurries over to the downed gem with a look of concern. "Hey! What happened!? Are you alright?" She gives the area a quick scan for someone more qualified to help, but upon not noticing anything (not to say she couldn't have missed someone else in the area) she turns her attention back to the gem and goes to nudge him.

It took him few seconds to notice, that he wasn't alone on the Beach. His eyesight was still a little blurry from the exhaustion and also by the water. It seemed like... some kind of blue gem? He wasn't exactly good at recognising gems...
"Heh, yeah... I think I'm fine... I may have underestimated a certain corrupted water gem... and ended up battling it in the depths of the ocean... and since my powers are mostly fire based I might have found myself with slight disadvantage."
He said, and then blank few times again, noticing, that he was talking with a complete stranger... "Oh, hello there... I'm Chip, the Rising Phoenix, the Eternal Flame and protector of Empire city."
Lapis blinks, now squatting beside Chip. She shakes her big floofy hair out as she gathers herself. Boy, there's a lot of things to respond to at once. She begins by introducing herself. "Lapis Lazuli Facet-2H6K, Cut-11DL, and... as far as I know I don't have a title. Also, a 'corrupted' gem? Is that anything like a defective gem? Also, why were you in the ocean if you control fire? Also,—" She might have to start counting her 'Also's' "-is it... something I can help with? Since I'm a water gem. Er, I'm a gem that controls water.—" She glances back at the tiny ball of ice she had left sitting on the beach. "...Well some water at least."
She then stares for a second more, having forgot the last thing she was going to ask. Oh, wait, that's right.
"Also are we in danger right now. I probably should have asked that first now that I think about it."

Chip had to smile a little. That Lapis Lazuli gem surely had a lot of questions... though it took him some time to muster enough strength to answer
"Nice to meet you Lapis Lazuli."
He said, finally forcing himself to at least sit. It was rude talking to her while laying down...
"You are new here? Or you never met corrupted gems? They are... like devolved... to their survival instincts... no higher intelligence - just fight and survive..."
He explained. It was a little puzzling, he though all the gems here knew about corrupted gems. He tried his best not to mention anything about defective gems since that was a really sensitive topic with him. But before he answered the next question he just had to laugh.
"Why was I in the ocean? To learn if I could do it of course... How could I know if I can beat corrupted water gem under water if I didn't try? Seems like it's beyond my powers... for now at least... but one day..."
This was just a minor setback, sure, he almost got in the vast dark depths of the ocean but the key part was "almost"
"I don't think that gem would leave the water to attack us here... and it probably run somewhere... so there is little change of catching it... thanks for the offer though. "
He finally stood up, even though he just his ... behind kicked by a monster he was surprisingly happy.
Lapis decides its probably best to not pursue the questioning of Chip being in the ocean any further. The corruption thing took precedence anyway. She gives a little smile, runs a hand through her hair, and responds "Nice to meet you too. And... I'm not... sure if I count as new?" She says as she squints one eye closed and raises the brow of the other. "I know I've been on Earth long enough for my kindergarten to have gotten gigantic and then clear out completely. And for the... uh... huuuuuuuuumans? Yeah, humans. For the humans to have built all those structures." She gestures back towards Beach City. "But I've been in my gem since then. Corrupted gems were never mentioned in my incubation."

"I don't know much about corruption... I was told it started in alfa kindergarden... but it might not be true... I have absolutely no idea how it spreads or how you will get infected... but a lot of gems got infected by it... And like I said it transformed them into beasts... they can't be reasoned with... there is no talking, they will attack you on sight. They are like animals here on Earth... I mostly poof them and bubble them. Perhaps Pink Diamond could help them... "
He tried to explain to the best of his abilities. But his knowledge of this topic was quite limited. Even though he managed to improve his healing lately, he still couldn't do anything against corruption...
"I was in alfa kindergarden few times though and I am very much not infected... "
"They are quite dangerous though... if one doesn't pay attention they could quite easily get you..."
Lapis furrows her brow with concern. "That sounds awful... is that what the Diamonds said to do with them? To just poof them and make them stay like that?" She tries to think back to her visit to the alpha kindergarten. She obviously wasn't infected when she was created... and in going back there later she doesn't feel corrupted. Though she doesn't know what corruption feels like, she assumes it is not her problem just yet. She stands back up and, assuming Chip is still on the ground, offers to help him up.
"So, are they all violent? If so, what of the gems who can't defend themselves? I mean I was made with the assumption that I could take care of myself, but I don't really have any experience with... combat. And even if I did, my abilities don't work like they were meant to."

"There wasn't any contact with Diamonds for years... there are some that are shattering corrupted gems... but most of us just bubble then, giving them chance to be healed when Diamonds came back... and since Pink Diamond is on Moon Base, she could be back quite soon... "
At least there was this one positive thing about Pink Diamond coming back to Earth. Hopefully she could heal those poor gems. Though there was also the chance, that the corruption was permanent, and those poor gems could never go back to their proper forms. No gem on Earth understood corruption, so perhaps those gems were beyond saving...
"If not all of them, then most at least. I never met corrupted gem who didn't want to kill me so far. You are Lapis Lazuli though, you could fly, right? You can always fly to safety... and I can relate to powers that are not working properly..."
"I can fly, sure, but that's about all I can do. Even that isn't perfect. But as for all the other things I should be able to do..." She steps over to the edge of the shore. She closes her eyes, widens her stance, and takes a deep breath to focus. She raises her hands up a little as obligatory drama tension builds. With a little squat, she swoops her hands up towards the sky, as if she were beckoning the ocean to bend to her will. She even grunts out a little "HRUCK!" to accompany her efforts.
Nothing happens, and she ends up looking like a dork in the progress. She lets out a little huffy sigh and heads back over to him.
"You've at least got some kind of weapon, and it looks like you're very good at summoning your wings. What else is a... Chip... supposed to do?"
Post by Chip the Fire Opal on Dec 18, 2016 7:00:48 GMT
"And what's wrong? Is there some kind of problem with your powers? I can relate to that. You know why I call myself Chip? Because I came from the ground chipped. A large piece of me was just missing... to this day I miss a lot of knowledge I should have. And my powers? Bah... the only thing I could do was flying... and even that poorly."
He admitted. It felt like such a long time before...
"I am a Fire Opal... but I never called myself that... because I am nothing like Fire Opal should be... so I'm Chip, even though I'm not chipped anymore... and I have no idea what I'm suppose to do... but I know what I can do now... I can control and summon fire... I have my weapon... I can fly on wings of fire..."
... and he could also heal, but he kept that mostly secret, since most of the gem healers were wiped out... he didn't want to join them...
"The Kindergartners explained that it was because I was in incubation for too long." She explained as she began to run her fingers through her hair again. "All of the information I'm supposed to have is all there, so I know what I should be able to do. I just can't. Honestly, I was meant to be shattered if I couldn't at least fly around the world once and return to the kindergarten within a short amount of time."
She stops and thinks about that for a second. "And... from what I've gathered I missed the deadline by a few thousands years, so..." She shrugs, giving a sort of apathetic expression about her whole situation. It's as if it doesn't concern her, or that she is oblivious to anything she should be concerned about.
"But anyway, you said you don't have a lot of information. Does that include your... purpose? Because now it seems like a lot of gems are just... walking around. And not following orders. It's all very, very strange to me."
Post by Chip the Fire Opal on Dec 18, 2016 7:34:50 GMT
"I can relate to that too... when I emerged from ground I was suppose to be shattered, since I was a failure... but I objected... strongly. And yeah, I have no idea why I was created, what was my purpose I what I'm suppose to do... so I had to find my own purpose."
He admitted. They were quite similar it seems... both of them failures, both of them were suppose to shattered... and weren't. "Diamonds are gone... communication with Homeworld is gone... the purpose of gems is no longer... clear. Until Diamonds are back, we have to do what we can... adapt... and some of us did just that... we adapted. So right now I am protector of the Empire city... "
And he was also a lieutenant of criminal empire... so that was something...
At the mention of being the protector of Empire City, Lapis stares at him. It's a blank sort of stare—like in the way you'd think a cow would stare at an oncoming train. Except Lapis was, of course, not a cow. And by this analogy, I mean she watches him, blinking idly, little empty smile hanging on her mouth. She waits for him to elaborate, but soon realizes that it was the end of his sentence. So now it's time for her to brainstorm. Does she know what a city is? Sure. Does she know what an empire is? Sure. Those two things put together sound like something you would find on the homeworld. But they are obviously not on the homeworld right now...
This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.

Differances Between the Roleplay and the Show
*Thanks to Rose Quartz' message the Gems on Earth are entirely aware that the Homeworld Gems intend to wipe out the human race.
*The "corruption"'s Origin is still unknown, some suspect it was a viral infection, other claim it was a Diamond experiment gone awry and other suspect the organics were behind it. Regardless no one seem to have a proper answer about what it was and why its only isolated to Earth
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
