"Empire city? It's one of the biggest cities on this planet... and it is ruled by a very powerful gem. Perhaps even the most powerful on the whole planet. He is trying to keep gems together until the Diamonds come. Not idly though, he is trying to figure out ways to contact the Gem empire to let them know what is going on. And I am working with him... or for him?"
He wasn't even sure. He was his apprentice... and heir... so probably more with him then for him? That was still a little questionable.
"It's actually quite impressive city... even gems who saw Homeworld says so... some of them at least."
He added. He never saw Homeworld, not even on pictures... but it was probably very impressive...
"Huh..." She says in acknowledgement. "A city that impressesHomeworld? I guess the colonization was really successful. I would love to see it one day." She throws her hands up. "Y'know, once I figure out what I'm meant to be doing now. That isn't really coming easy to me." She gets distracted by her own thoughts again and pauses awkwardly to think.
Eventually she speaks up again. "Anyway, so is the leader of Empire City against those rebel gems? Or does he not care about them. Their motivations aren't really clear to me either way. And... by that I mean I still don't know why they're going against Homeworld." She rubs her face. "Ugh, was the world always this complicated?"
Post by Chip the Fire Opal on Dec 18, 2016 20:28:07 GMT
"Colonisation... yeah... that uhm... well..."
He rather dropped the topic for now. It would be needlessly complicated and he had no intention of explaining everything right now. Lapis had some trouble wrapping her mind around this situation and confusing her even more would serve no purpose. "I understand that. It took me few years and then miraculous life saving to find my own way. And I am not sure even now, if my way is the one I should follow... it really isn't easy."
He admitted. Deep inside he felt like he should be helping the rebels protecting Earth, but the rational part of his being wanted nothing to do with them. "Yeah, he is strongly against them... he felt like they betrayed the Homeworld and Diamonds... and his quite devoted to Diamonds. And I think that a lot of gems have troubles thinking for themselves without the guidance of Diamonds... so in a way the world is a little more complicated now..."
"What did they even do though? What would be the point of defying Homeworld? Why would you even want to defy your Diamond?..." She shakes her head in thought. The idea of anyone doing something like that seems unreal to her. Even the concept of the Diamonds themselves felt to her like something otherworldly, no pun intended. From what she gathered from her time in incubation, they seemed omnipotent. All-powerful, all-knowing... but at the same time, here was Chip. He's finding his own purpose. Does that count as defiance? Would she be doing the same thing by trying to find her own? Or is she just one of the gems who has trouble thinking for themselves?
...And did she zone out in thought again?
"Uh... but anyway, it sounds like you don't like him very much. Or, at least you think he can't think for himself. Why protect Empire City if that's the case? And what are you protecting it from anyway? Those corrupted Gems?"
Post by Chip the Fire Opal on Dec 21, 2016 4:52:58 GMT
"I am not sure if I am the one who should be answering this question... I never met any of the Diamonds... and I have no clue about which Diamond was I created for... but I think some might feel betrayed, left to die on this planet... others discovered thinking for themselves and started to like it... and some just don't believe this planet should be hollowed out, dooming all life on this planet..."
He explained his theories. For him Diamonds were just a word... it was hard for him to understand anything about them. He lived among humans for quite some time... and humans were naturally suspicious.
"I might not share all of his beliefs, but he saved my life... and he cares for me... that's more then anyone have ever done for me... and why am I protecting Empire city? I live there... and it's nice to have some purpose... the city needs protection from corrupted gems, rebels... or even other gems... if anyone dare to attack Empire city I will be there to stop them... "
"Hm... I see." She flops back onto her butt, crossing her legs. "I'm sorry if I'm taking up your time by barraging you with questions. I'm just... trying to get a better understanding of everything." She shrugs. "The world I came from, while technically still this one, is a little hard to adjust to. Granted back in my Kindergarten I hadn't spent much time out of the ground before ending up—" She flails her arms to indicate her surroundings, or the world. "—here, but at least back then I knew what I had to do, and I didn't have to ask questions."
She then summons water from her gem. It slinks down her arms to her hands and forms around them in orbs of water. The orbs courteously slide up to her wrists for a moment so she can use her hands to push herself to a stand, and she starts to just... randomly walk away. Unannounced and directionless. And completely casually as if she wasn't aware that this was weird. She's only taken a step or two at the moment.

"Nah, it's really no problem. I have all the time in the world. After all we gems are ageless. So barrage me with as many question as you need."
Chip said carelessly. In fact his understanding of time was very human and not really gem... but for this time he could make an exception.
"I know how everything could get really puzzling... once I emerged I spent under 5 minutes in Kindergarden before I had to flee..."
He had to relive that thousands of times in his nightmares... but he rarely thought about the days after his escape from Kindergarden, hiding, not knowing what to do... or who he was, terrified about being hunted... knowing just enough to be scared to death... not being helped by first gems he met afterwards... "Fortunately there are friendly gems that are willing to help... like me. "
Lapis, seeming to be casually oblivious to what he says, flicks her arms out on either side. The water that enveloped her hands now rapidly spreads across her arms, and she squats a little like she's about to jump. Suddenly, she stops. She looks back at Chip with a deer-in-headlights sort of expression.
"Oh, were we—still talking? Oops..."
Her tone seems to indicate that she wasn't trying to be rude by saying that. She seemed to have been genuinely surprised when Chip continued to speak, and maybe only a hint of embarrassment. She takes a second to close her eyes as she tries to recall what was said. She blinks them open once again.
"Oh! You were volunteering to help. I think. Well... having some direction would be nice..."
Post by Chip the Fire Opal on Jan 4, 2017 20:23:17 GMT
There was a light misunderstanding, Lapis was probably leaving and he didn't expect it. Whoops... well... he wasn't flawless. But there was no ill intent in that, he was just trying to help.
"Direction? Well sure... uhm... I don't know this area all that well, I'm not from around here... but I was here several times before. So... uhm... there's a human settlement right over there... it's the biggest city in the imminent area. And... there's a warp pad in the cave over there... "
He was pointing in the directions he was talking about.
"If you fly that way you will eventually arrive to the Empire city... which is big human town that is under my protection... and... I think there's a flying gem temple somewhere in that direction... but I'm not exactly sure, I was flying there from different angle... is there some specific place you want to get to? I might be more helpful that way I think..."
Lapis takes all this in, then closes her eyes shut for a second. When she opens them again, she nods. "Understood. Thanks! Maybe I'll just... go to them all! I'll start at the nearest settlement and... maybe eventually make my way up to Empire City? I don't think I've ever seen a human settlement before anyway. At least... I don't think I ever passed by one." She closes her eyes for another second, with a scrunched-up expression as if she were trying to recall the information. Her eyes open wide and become entirely mirror-like for a few seconds, before she closes them again with a satisfied shrug. "It looks like I haven't, so, it should at least be interesting to see more new things."
Post by Chip the Fire Opal on Jan 9, 2017 20:23:30 GMT
"If you want you can pick up a map in the human settlements... it might be a little cure and primitive, but surprisingly accurate... and from the sky it is quite easy to find what you need. And if you ever find yourself in the Empire city stop by... I live in the biggest tower in the entire city... and my... mentor is an important loyal gem... he is always looking for some new allies... just saying."
He just smiled a little.
"I hope you will find whatever you're looking for. This planet is big... and full of surprises."
He told her. He explored quite a lot... and yet it was just a small portion of this huge world... there were always some parts he didn't yet see... always something to explore...
She had managed to maintain the water enveloping her arms for the entire duration of their final few exchanges, which was an impressive feat for her. It's starting to feel like she's getting more in control of her water as time goes on. Maybe she might even unlock the abilities she was supposed to have! With this inner excitement coming to a simmer, she starts her take-off. She flaps her arms once, and immediately on the downstroke the water falls off her arms, and it sorta looks like she just threw all the water against the sand. She blinks and stares at the wet sand. Not to be dismayed too much by this, she summons more water from her gem to reform her wings on her arms, and manages to lift off the ground successfully this time. She's still close enough for parting words from Chip just in case.

Chip smiled and summoned his fiery wings. With a mighty swing he jumped in the air, flying near Lapis. He actually never flew this close to other flying gem. It felt nice.
"See you around Lapis... good luck. I will have to check the sky from now on, if you're not flying around. "
He said once more. It was time to return back to Empire city... Morion was probably waiting for him... and he had some other stuff to do. Plus when he was gone he had the feeling that most things were going backwards in his absence. Though it was most likely just feeling. It was just him who was falling behind when absent...
He added last word before speeding up towards Empire city...
Melody: as usual, just waiting for posts

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
