Lapis' flight from the beach took only a short minute, leaving her to figure she didn't really need to fly anyway, but eh it beats getting sand on one's feet. She isn't sure how she acquired the word sand or why she didn't like it on her body, but she assumed both of these were things she picked up during her incubation. She begins her journey by walking down the boardwalk, totally immersed in new sights and sounds she had never seen before and taking it all in with widened and curious eyes. She even sees the occasional human, much to her surprise, but she doesn't interact with them. From what she remembered, humans weren't capable of communication with gems anyway. At least that's what she had learned in incubation. Funny- she thinks to herself -that they are capable of building such grand civilizations but would be incapable of communication. It must take a grand amount of forethought for them to accomplish anything.
She comes across a small group of seagulls, and squints menacingly at them. She hurries over to chase them away, and much to her surprise they fly away with a squawk. She must be more intimidating than she originally thought. She looks down to see what the seagulls had been huddled around. It was a few french fries thrown on the ground. She had no idea what to make of them, and so picked them up. They felt... bizarre. She had no way to describe the sensation of 'greasy,' and decided they instead felt slimy. She squeezed it, and some sort of white filling burst out. It was remarkable and disgusting looking at the same time, but it may distract further groups of seagulls. She sets about gathering them as a weapon against further seagulls.
Anybody else in the area would see a gem walking around gathering french fries off the ground.
