Ice had been walking for what seemed like forever, before finally arriving at what he believed to be his destination. The city of empires.
It wasn't an easy feat by any means, Ice didn't do it alone like he had planned, and to be honest, he realised very shortly after attempting to go alone that he wouldn't be able to. Nevertheless, he found his way, although it took some risky decisions to do it. Even asking humans for directions had him nervous. According to what he was taught, the organisms on earth almost all contained water, so there was no telling what would happen if he were to touch one. Luckily, everything seemed to work out, and after a modest 13 times that he had lost his way, he had finally arrived.
It was really... busy compared to the areas he'd been to before, and it left him a little lost for words. There was bright lights, and plenty more humans everywhere, to the point where he had to find a different way around several areas. It didn't matter though, Ice had made it to the city of empires, but the way he saw it, his mission wouldn't be over until he reunited with Chip.

Empire city, the glorious example of human civilisation, ironically ruled by a gem assassin. And his loyal apprentice - Chip, at this time thrown into a concrete building. Some really stupid flying corrupted gem was stupid enough to enter the sky above Empire city. The young protector faced him in combat, but it was quite tough opponent. Chip underestimated him and got thrown into a building. It only made Chip really mad. This combat was going for a long time, it was time to end it now.
Chip blasted the monster with fire. It was quite a firework, visible from most parts of the city. After few strikes like this the monster was finally poofed. Chip caught the falling gem, bubbling it and sending it home. Once the monster was done, Chip flew to nearby M tower - the biggest building in the entire city. He had no idea that his friend just came to his little piece of the World.
There was people everywhere, and every direction looked similar to the last. Ice had no clue which way was going to lead him to Chip, he never expected the city of empires to be so... big. This was nothing but a human civilisation after all, but it was incredible how different it was from the last one he'd seen by the beach. Ice wandered around hopelessly, constantly changing direction to avoid getting too close to the people.
Out of nowhere, an explosion seemed to go off in the distance. Ice immediately thought of Chip, he'd seen him use fire on multiple occasions, so the possibility that it was caused by him was not out of the question. Ice ran toward the spot where he'd seen the explosion go off, he wasn't sure exactly where it was, but he had a good idea, and that was enough. As he neared the site, he noticed some damage to two of the large buildings, and a sudden lack of people around. Chip, however, was nowhere to be seen, he had taken too long, and by now Chip would've left the spot, even if he was there in the first place. Ice didn't give up, he looked around, Chip had to be around somewhere, but where.

Fortunately for Ice, the young Chip only checked if his new trophy was safely in his room and then he left the tower once again. After all, where was one corrupted gem could be more! He left the M tower with the simple intention to continue with his guard duty. But instead of that he saw a small blue being, that was trying to avoid humans around. Could it be? He decided to check it up. He flew a little lower...
"Ice? Is that you? You came!!"
He yelled as soon as he saw his friend. He invited him to Empire city, but he didn't expect him quite so soon, since he wanted to go exploring world on his own. Or perhaps his exploring just brought him here...
Ice didn't like what he was seeing, it looked like there had been quite the fight here just a moment ago, and if it really was Chip... He put the thoughts to rest, no need to worry until he actually knew something was wrong.
Then, for a moment, he thought he heard Chip behind him. He turned around, slowly, and filled with doubt. Sure enough, flying right towards him, was the very same gem who freed him from the iceberg when he first hit land. His jaw dropped, and he took one step back, still in denial that it was actually real. He heard a cracking noise, as he stepped back, right onto a shard of broken window pane. Normally, he would have reacted to it, but in this moment, all he could do was stand there, as if he'd just won a lottery.
He had so much to tell him all at once, but he was at a loss for words. He tried to find something to say, anything, eventually settling on one single word, his name. "Chip?"

Ice appeared surprised to see him. Chip just smiled, landing before his friend.
"I'm so happy to see you. I never thought you come so soon. And yup, that's me."
He reacted to the only thing he heard from Ice.
"So how was your travelling? Have you seen something interesting? And how you found Empire city? Or have you found it by accident?"
He asked right away. After all Ice wanted to explore Earth on his own. But he came quite soon, so he couldn't done a lot of exploring.
"And how do you like Empire city so far? It's magnificent, isn't it? That's what nice about humans... there so many cities and towns and every single one is unique... some are ancients, some are modern... "
At first, Ice blushed, ashamed of his loss for words, but he quickly got over it due to the excitement he was feeling. He had so much to tell Chip, all at once.
"Getting here wasn't exactly the easiest thing in the universe, but I started asking people and they actually showed me the way." He sugar coated it a little, and left out certain events that took place, mostly because he thought it was a bad time. Ice wasn't sure what to say about the city of empires, it was pretty amazing and all, but it left him cautious and uncomfortable. There was no telling what would happen if he touched a human, he just knew it wouldn't be good, and in this city, there was a lot of humans. Even asking for directions felt really reckless to him. That issue was unique to him though, so Ice could definitely see why Chip liked the place. "The city of empires is really...big, I mean, I expected it to be big, but it's really big. You're right, it really is so much different than that other place."
"I was just lucky that you caused that big burst of fire in the air." Why did Chip create a fire burst in the sky? Ice figured it was worth asking Chip. "What was that big explosion anyway? It looked dangerous."

"Empire city isn't exactly close to Beach city, but seems like you managed to find it, and that's the most important thing. Will you tell me how your travels went? Have you seen something interesting?"
He asked. Ice made a big deal about him travelling alone so Chip was naturally curious about what he saw or experienced. Chip had some interesting experiences since they met, then again Chip was a gem of action.
"Empire city is big. Even bigger then you think. You saw only a small portion of the city so far. It's quite unique, certainly different then Beach city. I mean in that skyscraper alone there's probably more people then in the entire Beach city..."
Which wasn't saying much since the entire population of Beach city were like a dozen?
"Oh the explosion? Nothing... just a corrupted monster flew over the city. I'm protecting this city from corrupted gems so I had to defeat it... "
Ice wasn't sure if he should tell Chip about the small incident he'd gotten involved with, but he figured that there was no reason not to tell Chip, so he did. "Well, for the most part, it was really nice, seeing all of the new places, but there was this one incident, where a sapphire and a blue quartz got into a fight over some sort of misunderstanding." Ice was shivering as he spoke, just as he always had, but upon close inspection, one could tell that the shivering got ever so slightly worse when Ice was talking about things that he didn't like talking about. "I just hope that this whole rebel thing isn't causing other gems to turn on each other for no reason like that, cause I have to say, it's confusing."
The skyscraper before them held more than the entire population of the beach city, Ice didn't believe it, but then again, this place was a lot more crowded. As much as he liked the city of empires, he still felt uncomfortable being so close to so many humans.
Then Chip mentioned something that he didn't exactly understand. "Protecting it from corrupted gems? What's that mean, corrupted gems?" Ice was unfamiliar with the term, he'd never heard of a corrupted gem before.
Post by Chip the Fire Opal on Jan 29, 2017 6:35:11 GMT
Chip nodded, he understood. He didn't see many gems fighting, but from time to time it happened. Mostly because someone thought that someone else was a rebel.
"A fight between Sapphire and Blue Quartz? That had to be quite one sided right? But the most important thing is, that you are safe."
Chip had no idea, if Ice had some combat skills. Since he wasn't a warrior gem it was doubtful at best. Then again every gem had at least some abilities that could be considered useful in combat. For example Ice's ice touch could be... in some very specific situation... uhm... yeah, not really...
"Don't worry about the rebels, Pink Diamond's fleet is on the Moon, she will sort it out soon. Hopefully..."
He really hoped that this pointless violence will end soon.
"Oh... I never warned you about corrupted gems? Darn... I am so glad you haven't met one. Corruption is like an illness. I don't know much about it, but I know that the gem that is fully corrupted is like an animal. It doesn't think, it act on instincts. They are mostly predators, that are trying to hunt... well everything. Nobody knows why or how it spreads or what it exactly is... but normal healing methods are ineffective against it. Even I can't heal it... some suspect it comes from Kindergardens..."
Corruption sounded awful, and because there was little information about it, Ice was left doing what he always did when he didn't know enough about something, he worried. Originally, he was happy to just stay on earth, exploring, but between rebels and these corrupted gems, Ice felt less comfortable exploring potentially dangerous and unknown territory. Other gems might be able to hold their own out there, but after seeing what they were capable of, Ice knew he didn't stand a chance. He looked up at the destruction caused by the corrupted gem from earlier, his expression slowly shifting to look like he'd seen a ghost.
"Uh... so... what did you do with the corrupted gem?" Ice gulped, teeth chattering away "You didn't... smash it right?" He was sure that there had to be some sort of way to fix a gem once that corruption thing happened, so he just hoped that Chip had found a better way of taking care of them than smashing the poor things. It was better than letting them roam free, but still.

Chip appeared shocked for a moment. The fact alone, that Ice thought Chip might shatter a gem hurt a little. Sure, he grew fine with poofing gems some time ago, but he would never shatter a gem! He didn't even shatter the stupid peridot who experimented with his shard...
"Nah, don't worry, I would never shatter any gem. I just poof them and bubble them. Keeping them safe until someone might be able to help them."
He said. Ice probably didn't poof and bubble any gems before.
"I hope that something will come up with better way... but until they do I will just keep the gems safe. It's dangerous to keep them running wild. Both for them and for everyone else..."
Ice was unfamiliar with bubbling gems, he didn't have to know about it to perform his designated role, and as such, he never got taught anything about it. But what really mattered was that Chip had found a way to keep the monster gems from doing anymore damage to others and themselves, and he found it with this ulterior method. "Oh that's good to hear, but what exactly do you mean by bubble?" Ice lifted one hand and placed it behind his head, he'd heard it before, and felt like he should know, but he just didn't. "I've heard of it a few times, but nobody's ever explained it"
He wondered, just how many corrupt gems there were out in the wild. It was no wonder why this place needed gems to protect it from corrupt gems, it was so big, and there was so much that could be damaged.
It was sort of amazing to see Chip form an orange sphere around the apple, he'd never seen it happen before.
Ice fumbled the apple, diving into the ground to stop it from hitting the ground. He caught it, quickly standing right back up, innocently holding the apple and acting as if that never happened. He stared at the apple tilting his head to the side, he knew he couldn't do it, he felt like he'd know he could do it if he could.
"Are you sure I can actually do that?"
Ice was doubtful, but he figured he'd humour Chip. He placed the apple on one hand, and brought the other one over beside it. He slowly brought his hand backward, and sure enough, nothing happened...
He started moving his hand all over about three inches away from the apple, but it wasn't helping, the apple stayed put, and nothing formed around it.
This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.

*Thanks to Rose Quartz' message the Gems on Earth are entirely aware that the Homeworld Gems intend to wipe out the human race.
*The "corruption"'s Origin is still unknown, some suspect it was a viral infection, other claim it was a Diamond experiment gone awry and other suspect the organics were behind it. Regardless no one seem to have a proper answer about what it was and why its only isolated to Earth
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
