Rhapsody in Blue (Closed - Morion & Chip, possibly others)

[Morion]

Deep in the jungles of Columbia...
Far from the eyes of the Humans, there is something that is not from this world
Something from the stars
Something from the past
A ship
The Derelict
Morion named her that, after he claimed the ancient colony ship
It was the future of his Humans
Salvaged Gem technology from all over the world, new and old, cannibalized Kindergarten systems, Injectors, the crashed Gem ships, raided, abandoned Gem facilites, temples... captured Rebels and Independent Gems, to use them as power sources...
...and Human technology
The jungle released its grip on the ancient ship and slowly Morion and his servants repaired the old vessel
It was just a matter of time before the the ship, size of a little human city would fly again
But this was not that day
The Smoky Quartz summoned his quasi-loyal Apprentice, the young Fire Opal, Chip to meet him there
Weeks passed since they found the kid's last shard... enough time to move on
The Humans who guarded the Warp-Pad saluted their little master, when Chip arrived with a flash of light
One of the Human "quartzes'" waved to him
This one was called Esteban

"He is inside... was a bit quiet lately. It is never a good sign, when the Boss is this quiet. Well... he is a silent type, but... but this is a bit different quiet if you know what I mean! Not even his skull trophy collection is dusted! And he loves his trophies! I think the Boss is... dunno... His mood is... eh... Since we claimed that little Kindergarten where you guys found those things... he is in the mood... he found something there I think... Soooo... so its better if you go, he asked for you. So I phoned to Albert to send you here and... well... good luck..."

Esteban patted Chip on the back nervously and let him go
The ship was an ancient one, not crystaline, like the new versions, it was more like a temple, made out of some sort of a stone like material.
The Humans working on the ship to restore her pointed the kid where to go
Morion was in the heart of the ship in the central chamber
And he was not alone....



The Assassin - in his uniform and mask- knelt before a giant Gem.
She was gigantic! Chip could easly could stand on her palm
But she was not real... just a very life like hologram, as the young Fire Opal noticed

"She is Blue Diamond..."

Morion just knelt here, before her, with bowed head, his voice was barely audible

"...my Diamond"

The Smoky Quartz voice was... a bit sad, a bit of full of pain and sorrow
He looked up to the giant hologram

"It is just her holo... found it in the Kindergarten. It was a long... too long I saw her in person. Stand before her majestic presence... felt her kindness, heard her voice..."

With a sigh, Morion turned to Chip, silver eyes watched the kid

"I think you never saw a Diamond before, or remeber one... am I right?"

He looked again the holo

"Diamonds are colossal Gems... this hologram is life-sized.

[Chip the Fire Opal]

Chip was around a lot. It wasn't that difficult, when you could fly. But he certainly never been to Columbia. He had no idea where Columbia was. He had no idea, why Morion summoned him here from all places. But there was probably some reason. Fortunately there was a warp pad, so it was literally closer to get here, then to his favourite Cookie shop...

Some human was waiting there. According to him Morion was feeling blue. He also hinted, that he is like that for some time. Chip barely saw him during that time. He was mostly working on his own project during that time.

"Thank you Sebastian, I will try to cheer him up a little... I hope I will able to..."

He promised and continued inside. There were some humans that pointed him to Morion. For a second Chip was in shock. He never saw a Diamond before, but he knew instantly, that he was looking at Blue Diamond. But after the first shock he realised that it was only a hologram.

"Y...yeah, I never saw one but I knew it right away. Only a Diamond could be this... impressive."

He responded. He never suspected, that Diamonds would be so colossal. It had to be really expensive to build doors for them... he said nothing more... he waited, since it seemed like he wanted to continue...

[Morion]

"Yes. Only a Diamond could be this impressive"

The smoky Quartz agreed
With a wave of his hand, the Assassin activated the lights of the chamber one by one

Four figure



"Yellow Diamond is in charge of Gem military"

He walked to the first giant figure, the to the second

"White Diamond. Her Court is the court of the Elite."

The smoky Quartz walked to the third one

"Pink Diamond is in charge of medical advancements. Her Court is the court of the Healers. Earth is her Planet"

Finally back to the foruth

"And Blue Diamond. MY Diamond... her Court is responsible for the technological and cultural advancement of the Gem Empire"

The assassin stood before the holographic statue of the Blue Matriarch in the middle

"The Great Diamond Authority, also known as The Order of the Diamonds, is the matriarchal body of Gem leaders who rule in absolute power over our Homeworld and all the Gem Colonies. The Gem Empire."

He looked to the holo statue

"Each Gem is made with a purpose: To serve the order of the Diamonds. Some Gems strongly belives those who cannot fit inside this order must be purged! This is the Law for them. In a sense, for me too... I asked you here to see them. Her. I can't see in your heart or your mind, can't tell what you think of them or feel about them. But you never seen one... these images are just shadows, pale shadows of them. Their presence is overwhelming. You told me several times, you will see what side you will take, or if they are "worthy" of your loyalty when you will stand before them... I wanted to preapre for you for that moment Chip. A few can handle a presence of a Goddess..."

[Chip the Fire Opal]

Morion showed all the Diamonds. Even those they were just some murals they were all impressive. Especially Pink Diamond... HIS Diamond. He also learned something new about each one. He had no idea, why cultural Diamond needed an assassin... but he surely wasn't going to question that. It was interesting - 4 gems, working together, but every single one having one specialisation.

"And those ball thingies they are holding are their colonies?"

He asked. Pink Diamond was holding something that looked like Earth with it's Moon. All the other Diamonds had much more ball thingies around.

"I never imagined that Diamond will be so... big. I am glad you are preparing me to see one... since my Diamond is on the Moon I could fly there... and meet her... if she will accept me to her court. Since I'm defective she might try to get rid of me... since it will be hard for me to fit..."

[Morion]

"Naturally, these are ancient depcitions of our Matriarchs. These murals... are old, very old. But yes. Those ball thingies are planets"

The Smoky Quartz nodded

"The Diamond's Court are mobile... travelling courts, so to speak. Most of the time they are travelling with their Arm Motherships... I showed you a Hand ship, there are several now around the Moonbase. But an Arm Mothership? Use your immagination! Oh and they are travelling in their personal Palanquin. They are colossal Gems, for them it is natural to be so... gigantic. The Gems are so little... but they are our leaders. They care about us!"

Morion shook his head with a sigh

"What would you expect in her Court? Quartz knights, guards... Rubie soldiers. And aristocrats. Not to mention the personal servant Pearls. And the Palanquin in the middle. To be honest I don't know Pink Diamond's habits, but my Diamond, Blue Diamond always had a Sapphire or two around; these oracle Gems could saw the future. If Pink Diamond have a Sapphire advisors, then she is already know you will go to her... and the outcome of the meeting."

Then the Smoky Quartz yanked the ear of the young Fire Opal

"For the last time kid, your are NOT defective! At least not anymore... you are not chipped and except the loyalty, you are a perfect Gem."

[Chip the Fire Opal]

"If Diamonds are so awesome, they will probably look even more majestic now, won't they?"

He asked. Since Pink Diamond had only one planet with one moon - probably the Earth, he hoped she will take good care of it. Though if the murals were ancient she might get few new planets since then...

"I just wonder... arm and hands don't exactly look like an effective design for a star ship. Then again I am not a star ship builder. Not that I know of anyway... and seeing the future is creepy! I don't like the idea that someone is knowing what I'll do before I do it... It's deeply disturbing actually... I met Sapphire once I think... in Beach city..."

He said. Well he SAW one... not exactly met...

"And yes, I am defective. I am healed, yes... but do you think THIS was my intended form? I don't know anything! I am Jon Snow of gems... and thanks for mentioning my lack of loyalty... always warms my hearth... or would I had one..."

[Morion]

"The Diamonds, they are... ageless. Eternal..."

Morin nodded

"What is an effective design kiddo? I mean what makes it effective? But you are right, in a sense. The ancient Gem vessels, like the Gem Colony Ships, like my dear Derelict are saucer-shaped starships. Then as we became more and more advanced, found a more effective way of travel, like the Warp-Pads"

The Smoky Quartz explained

"And the new version of ships, like the Hand, Arm, the Eyes... they are not using the space in the normal way; sure they could go fast, faster than light, but the ships nowdays bend space and time, warp reality, so to speak... the engines bend spacetime, to warp to the given location cross gelexies with in a second. The normal rules of physics are don't apply. So the shape is irrelevant."

He nodded

"Ah... you saw a Sapphire? I would really like to recruit one to our cause. Propably that Gem will join us anyway. But I am curious, how would you describe your "loyalty?"

[Chip the Fire Opal]

Chip was just nodded. His knowledge of physics was... basic. And most of it was human physic which was inferior to Gem's knowledge of the topic.

"I suppose when you can break the laws of physics some minor details like the shape of your craft is really irrelevant. Still... I thought gem would be more... efficient. I mean the saucer ships are simple and functional. The hand ships seems needlessly complicated. But it probably has some function that I don't understand..."

He admitted. He knew little about gem technology.

"Yeah, there is one around Beach city... saw him there few times. But he was minding his own business and I did the same. And let's drop the loyalty issue... I am loyal to you... you know that. Or I hope you know at least... and I can hardly be loyal to someone I never met. I dropped the idea that Diamonds are evil masterminds , I want to meet My Diamond... see her perfection "

[Morion]

"Advanced artifical intelligences with projected hard light, solid hologram like bodies are tend to do that..."

Breakin the laws of physics

"But don't forget my dear Apprentice, the laws you know are the humans interpretation of the "laws'. They are still strugling to accept the 4th dimension and have the foggiest idea of the other seven. Or nine... I am not a Peridot, just a Quartz with wide range of knowledge"

The Smoky Quartz nodded

"What were you doing near Beach City? Spying on the enemy?"

He was curious^^

"Anyhow... yes, I know, you are completly loyal to Me, and its an honor to have your loyalty... but I am loyal to the Diamonds and Homeworld, If they order me to do something, I will ask your help... so you are loyal to them to, you know. Just you never noticed it^^"

Morion ruffled the kid's hair

"I'm glad you want to meet Her. But... why do you think you are Her Gem? Earth is Hers, of course, but the Kindergartens are not exclusive to one Diamond. Any of them could have ordered you, with specifics... maybe your size and temper are not a "flaw" as you think, both of them are intentional.. after all, you are more than capable fighter, and quite a verstile Gem..."

[Chip the Fire Opal]

Chip look a little silly for a moment.

"Well when you say it like this..."

He admitted. Yes, he wasn't human, he wasn't even organic. He was a beautiful and shiny rock, which just happens to have the power to project a humanoid body. And even though he liked humans he had to admit that they weren't the sharpest tool in the shed.

"I was trying to visit Bloodstone... but he wasn't at home. So I at least saved a frozen gem... or... well he was an Ice... a terraformer."

He said. Nothing about that was a secret. Morion just didn't ask sooner...

"Again... if you put it like this I suppose I am, indirectly, loyal to Diamonds as well... and as I said, I think I am beginning to remember... at least some part of me deeply believes that I was created for Pink Diamond... but since we don't have some kind of gem yellow pages I doubt we can verify that..."

[Morion]

"Hmm... a Gem frozen in ice....? What kind of Gem was this "Ice"? A Terraformer... interesting! I would really like to meet this Gem! I could use this Gem's expertise"

Nodded the Assassin

"Yes, I mean, you didn't actually knew if I really lost the connection with the Diamonds, I am after all my Diamonds Eye on a Planet, a Watcher... an Infiltrator... and if she asks Her Wrath..."

Morion explained

"So the possibility was always there, I had a personal communicator , a direct line to my Diamond. So all of my "orders" could have been Her orders too... "

But that wasn't the case
So Chip wasn't a Loxalist Pawn^^
But he could have been...

"Well, so much for theoris am I right? If thats a comfort kid... I hope you were made for Pink Diamond too. "

Morion admited

[Chip the Fire Opal]

"What use would you have for a terraformer? Earth is Terra... so there is no need to Terraform it, is it... "

He asked. The fact was, that he was a little afraid to let Ice meet Morion. After all Morion was quite... scary. And he didn't really want to scare Ice.

"You told me you lost connection with the Diamonds. And I believed you, I still believe you. Since you told me, that there will be no secrets between us. Plus I don't really think Diamonds would waste their time by manipulating me..."

He counter argued. Yes, he was trusting Morion too much. But he was there to save him when he was weak and defenceless.

"And... why did you summoned me here? And why you were so blue lately?"

He asked.

[Morion]

"You see it right kiddo...."

The Smoky Quartz nodded

"Earth is "Terra" enough. But as you can see, the Derelict is almost fully repaired, the new engines are installed, the weapons, and living quarters for the humans. Our humans. I think you remember, I promised them the stars for their loyalty. They serves me.. us, because the chance of surviving this whole conflict. They are not good people Chip. They are criminals. We have a criminal empire my dear apprentice, dirty money... some of them are dealers, some of them are killers and so on... the outcasts, outlaws, bountyhunters. Some of them are even... lawyers!"

Morion explained

"They serves us, they die for us... and in exchange I will save them. And their families and descendants. Humanity WILL survive, even if Earth will become a Gem colony, like the one I showed you. The colony ship is large enough to do this. But the universe is full of planets that are incapable of sustaning life. Normally I would search and eventually find a right planet, far away from the Gem Empire. But it is easier with a terraformer, who could help us to make an unhabitable planet habitable for our humans"

The Smoky Quartz looked to the holo of Blue Diamond

"I miss my Diamond kiddo... thats all. And either way, if Earth is spared by Pink Diamond or war ravages it untill nothing ramien, I have no place here. After every mission a little part of me died Chip. This is no different. I have to move on. Adapt. Follow my beloved Diamond. And after escorted our humans to their new home, and helped them to defend themselves, with shiled and weapons... I will have to leave them too. But I summoned you here not to lament about these things... I asked you to here to show you the Diamonds, preapre you for the auidence with one... give you every help I could to start your new life. I think Pink Diamond will accept you, even if you were made for another, she will "adopt" you. After all, you are an "Earthling". So your place is here..."

Not with Morion, who will eventually left

"And this... is making me a bit happy... and a bit sad...."

With a littlew sigh he started to sing, queitly

"Right and wrong, who's to say which we should refuse.

"I suppose it's difficult being apart from your Diamond for such a long time. But you will see her again... you yourself said that it is just a matter of time now, when My Diamond arrived on Moon. But I have to wonder... why you even came to Earth? What was your mission here? I never asked... "

So he finally asked now. He knew very well what kind of humans were working for them. He met some of them. And even though some were nice, he knew that they actually weren't. Most of them... he also met family of one of their "quartzes". He wanted them to be saved...

"Next time I see him I will ask him to see you. But I won't force him... I think he is a little... well like I was when you met me... I am not sure if meeting you wouldn't be too scary for him."

He was willing to ask Ice for help. But like he said, he wasn't willing to force the issue...

"And I think my place is where My Diamond will want me to be."

He smiled. For the first time he wasn't horrified about the thought that he won't be with his friends...

[Morion]

The Smnoky Quartz nodded

"My Mission? Blue Diamond and White Diamond worked together sometimes... well, technically I was lended to White Diamond for special missions, but I was so to speak, a double agent. While I was on a mission for White Diamond, my Diamon's interests were the priority. Managed to find the balance tho'... done this, done that, reported to both. It was actually very easy..."

Morion smirked under his mask

"I was sent to Earth with a spying mission. I was and I am after all Her Eye on a Planet. So I was sent here to watch and alert Blue Diamond's "inquisition' about anything suspicious or rebellious Gems. Yes, I have falied her... If I had done my job better, Rose Quartz's Rebellion would have been a faliure from the start. Okay it is, but it was my fault, the whole situation exist! I will be punished for it I am sure... and can't blame her. My faliure ment the death of good Gems in the resulting chaos and the Fate of this Planet was almost sealed..."

No wonder he went a bit insane...

"Now I guess, you wonder, considering my Diamond's Court, why she even have an "Inquisition" when that is White Diamond's area of interrest or duty. Simply. The same reason, she need an Assassin."

The Gem smiled behind his mask

"Culture includes a healthy level of politics and intrigues and machinations. Having a network of spies and assassins, Watchers to back her oracle Gem's prophecies are the very basic of a culture! And this is an art form! Not to mention, technology is a tricky thing, sometimes you need to spy on others to advance or steal their work... like wise, you need to sometimes remove certain elements before they could cause troubles for your plotical or cultural plans"

Morion snickered

"My Diamond is wise..."

He nodded

"You don't need to force him, and don't worry I will not going to hunt him or anything if he says no. I promise. And I am not scary at all! You havent seen my scary side kiddo!"

Morion ruffled the kid's hair^^

"I am glad you want to be with your Diamond Chip"
