"I am already more powerful than any Quartz..." Sulfur mumbled under his breath. He then added. "Except just one..."
As they approached the large structure sand started to blow through the air. Sandstorms however were of no danger to a gem. Sulfur levitated a foot off of the ground and darted through the air with Howlite at a quick speed, but he slowed so that he could move at the same speed as Howlite. He watched Howlite run. They were both similar in several ways, but also very different.
The Pyramid looked very old, and it's entrance, two large doors, had corroded over time. A large torn entrance lied in front of the structure. When near, a roar could be heard from within. A large, antlion-like, monster emerged from the hole. It's color suggested that it was a crazy-lace agate.
"It's an Agate. Nice. Interesting fact about Agates: they always shatter from the center outwards." He took aim with his rifle then paused. "Since you find my methods unenjoyable how bout we compromise? You do the poofing I do the ritual? That way we both get equal enjoyment out of it." Howlite looked at Sulfur. He was almost identical. A few distinct differences but otherwise the same. He'd hate for Sulfur to be bored. Howlite always got pleasure from his ritual but for some reason Sulfur didn't. He had to make this entertaining for both of them. But how?
The beast used it's mandibles to suddenly start digging into the sand. It dug at an astonishing rate, vanishing into the sand quickly. The sand began to shift around them.
"...this is where I find enjoyment." Sulfur mumbled, summoning his twin blades.
The Antlion Emerged in front of Sulfur, who blocked it's charge with it's swords. It's mandibles attempted to snap him in half, but with his blades he propped it's mouth open. He quickly withdrew his blades and stabbed them into the mandibles, anchoring the creature's fangs to the ground. He then leapt into it's back and started to rip it's mandibles to the sides. As the creature started to give way he pulled the mandibles toward himself, tearing it's own face.
With a mighty swing of it's head the creature threw Sulfur aside, but he landed on his feet and slid across the ground. Six blades impaled the creature's head. They moved in opposite directions as Sulfur clenched his fist. The Antlion screeched in agony as it poofed.
Howlite watched in awe as Sulfur subdued the beast. "Now every gem has its own ritual. Since it's an Agate it'll be different than the Topaz." He grabbed the gem and held it. "Let's begin." He walked outside the pyramid and placed it just outside the entrance. Then he started to sing. "Well well well. What have we here? An Agate huh? Oh I'm really scared! So you're the one everyone's talking about? You're joking you're joking I can't believe my eyes. You're joking you gotta be. This can't be the right guy. You better pay attention now cause my name's Howlite. And if you're not shaking, then there's something very wrong. Cause this is the last you'll hear, of 9XR's song."
Sulfur now seemed amused as he started to dance about Howlite. His style could be compared to jazz as he danced about extravagantly. He danced about as Howlite sang, using a cane to do tricks. He occasionally hummed "wooah" as Howlite sang. It seemed that this Agate ritual was finally sinking in.
"Woah.... Woah....Wooooaaah! He's the 9xr man!" Sulfur said, twirling his cane in the air.
"Well if I'm feelin' antsy
And there's nothin' much to do
I might just cook a special batch
Of corruption and mutant stew
And don't ya know the one thing
That would make it work so nice?
A roly-poly Agate to add a little spice!" Sulfur said, leaning in on the Gem, in an intimidating way.
"You're joking you're joking I can't believe my ears. Would someone shut this fella up? I'm drowning in my tears! It's funny. I'm laughing. And now with your permission I'm gonna do my stuff. I'm gonna do the best I can! Oh the sound of rolling dice is music to my ears. Cause I'm a gambling Crystal Gem. Although I don't play fair. It's much more fun I must confess, when lives are on the line! Not mine of course but yours old boy, now that'll be just fine!" He started to circle around the gem as he sang his song.
Howlite cackled as he grabbed the shards. He then bubbled them. "182! I'm really impressed Sulfur. If I didn't know better I'd say you're having fun." He then topped the top and it vanished. "You and I are gonna go far. I can't believe how fun that was! I should've considered partnership centuries ago! You know something? When we're finished here, why don't we grab a drink together? I never liked human food but I love their alcohol. Something about it just tastes amazing. When we get a lot of kills, we'll head back to the city and I'll open up a tab. What'd you say?"
"...Fun...if you mean to say that after every victory we sing catchy songs that resemble those of humans?" Sulfur asked, grinning. "In that case, I do suppose I could enjoy your practices, for other reasons of course!" He chuckled a bit.
"You have yourself a deal Howlite!" Sulfur said, pumping his fist. "Now let's get back to the task at hand..."
Sulfur looked back at the large structure looming above them. Wind blew from the hole, the occasional fleck of sand. It smelled of rotting flesh.
"Well I suppose that we should just go ahead..." Sulfur said bluntly. There was a long silence as he stared at the hole. He suddenly prepared to run. "Let's go through running, if you can't beat a foe as you pass them, they're too powerful. Time is money, let's not waste it!" With that, Sulfur sped into the dark cavern.
Howlite prepped his rifle and fired a cold shot. The bullet traveled straight by Sulfur just next to his face when it suddenly curved and hit a gem shattering it. He then loaded another shot. This one went through 2 gems at once. He remained at the tunnel's entrance and just kept picking off any gems that Sulfur missed. 1, 2, they just kept coming. He finally loaded his 5th round and final bullet in his clip. "I live for the simple things. Like how much this is gonna hurt." He fired another cold shot. This time it was like a pin ball machine. It just kept hitting gem after gem after gem. Finally it lost its momentum and disappeared. He then ran up to Sulfur. "How was that?"
Sulfur was holding a large amount of gems when he emerged out of the back of the temple. He had at least twenty.
"Apologies Howlite, it seems that I dropped most of them along the way..." He muttered, sitting down the twenty gems. "It truly is fun to fight at such speeds, feeling the wind as you cut through them, doing what the circle of life commands. Fulfilling one's purpose really does ignite their spirit."
"I would say that this collaboration has been a success... drinks are in order if I do say so myself! We should fetch some before we shatter these." Sulfur said, sitting the gems down for Howlite to bubble. "You can take these to your home, we can shatter them there."
"Now you're talking!" He bubbled all of the gems and sent them off. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a wallet. "Sorry Flint. This one's for a special occasion. I'm sure you won't mind if I start a tab would you Flint?" He then looked to Sulfur. "I picked Flint's pocket before I left. I figured I could use a drink. Let's go!" He ran out of the pyramid and reached the warp pad. He stood on it and waited for Sulfur. "You know something? I like you more than most gems. Most whether Homeworld or Rebel, don't understand me. They don't understand the urge within me. But you? You know the feeling. And now we both share the experience.
"...I have an addiction, I am addicted to what I do, I couldn't change even if I wanted to. My only choice is to find gems like you who enjoy the shattering. I suppose it is quite fortunate for us to have met, because only you don't persecute me for doing what I must." Sulfur said. "It's an urge I cannot control, but to avenge myself and my loved ones shattered because of my poor choices I will fight those who do not give me the sympathy I deserve."
Sulfur then warped right outside a diner in Empire city. It was in a skyscraper, on the top floor. the warp pad was in the bathroom, easily mistaken for a strange feature of the bathroom's artistic walls.
Howlite walked into the bar. He sat down on a bar stool then gestured for Sulfur to sit next to him. "Give me 2 of your strongest liquor." The bartender smiled as he poured 2 shot glasses full of the drink. He handed one to Sulfur and one to Howlite. Howlite grinned as he drank it down. "I'd like to start a tab. Give us a couple more rounds!" He just kept drinking and drinking. Every time the tender would give him a glass it was emptied before he turned around. He loved alcohol. He couldn't get drunk like humans but he loved the taste and sensation of it.
Taking a seat next to Howlite in the bar, Sulfur prepared himself for alchohol. He could not get drunk, but the sensation was a bit strong, he would have been a lightweight had he been a human. Howlite then ordered some shots which Sulfur participated in taking. Unfortunately, this was the strongest liquor, the rush would hurt Sulfur's head. Sulfur continued to drink the shots, not quite as fast as Howlite, but he didn't seem to be rushing.
"Why do you take them so quickly? You should savor the flavor..." Sulfur said, he would leave the drink in his mouth for a second before swallowing. "That way you can get the full enjoyment of it..." By the time Howlite had finished five shots, Sulfur had finished one.

This Site will likely have unmarked Spoilers for the entirety of the Steven Universe Franchise, it is recommended that you go watch the show if you have not already before looking around the site.
Note: This Roleplay is an AU to Steven Universe, with its own Story to tell that will deviate from the show. While the show focused on Rose’s Son Steven, The RP instead presents an AU, where Rose started the rebellion conflict in modern day instead of 6000 years ago, and the story focuses on the conflict between the Homeworld loyalists, and Crystal Gem Rebels.
For a more detailed timeline please look at
Differances Between the Roleplay and the Show
•Within the Show, Rose Quartz Rebelled against Homeworld 6000 years ago. On the Site she waited and only started the rebellion in 2013
•In the Show, Pink Diamond was Shorter then the other Diamonds, and only had a short time commanding her Colony before the rebellion started. On the Site, as Rose Hesitated, Pink has had several thousands of years experience in managing her colony, and additionally is of a height and stature the same as Blue and Yellow Diamond.
•In the Show, the Colony was very early in production before the rebellion happened, thus explaining the lack of frequent Gem structures on Earth. In the Roleplay, the Earth has the same amount of Gem structures as the show, buts its because construction on Pink's colony was very slow due to Earth being on the furthest Edge of the Gem empire
•In the Show, the Crystal Temple was implied to have been built after the Rebellion, On the Site, its implied to have been retrofitted from a Homeworld Temple structure.
