It was a small diner, in the middle of a food court. It had been a chilly day so it was snowing outside. The workers at the Himitsu building would usually be coming to their food court on the top floor for such a cold day, but it seemed that the top floor was the coldest. In other words, it was a slow day at the diner. Still, the lights remained on, the coffee machine continued to serve it's purpose. The blender had recently been used, the plates were being washed. Sulfur scrubbed a plate calmly as the day was slow he had no need to hurry. He was in the Kitchen behind the counter. A customer could not see into the kitchen, but he had placed a bell on the counter.
He wore a trendy waiter outfit complete with a tie, a small apron, an undershirt and a vest., although he was not only the waiter, but the cook and the manager. He ran the entire diner, but served meals as quickly as ten chefs. His disguise could fool most humans, the only thing about him that humans thought to be extraterrestrial was his ability to produce meals so quickly! He had finished cleaning the dishes and began sorting spices. Even an insane gem like him had a hobby.

The weather didn't really bother Gaspeite, being made out of what she is. Though, she still chose to wear her brown trenchcoat, to blend in slightly because of the fact that she was really standing out even though another gem would instantly spot her. She knew those streets, since she became very acclimated with Empire City, but this time, she meant to try something else. A diner, a place where humans go to so they can... eat, and, er, drink, to fill their energy quota, and other things, but Gaspeite didn't really need specifics about it.
She was wondering why would humans go to such lenghts to walk to the top of this building, just to get what they need when they can clearly just go take what they need in those big "WallMart" buildings, which they could afterwards stock in their living areas. So, our fusion just searched for the place with as few people as possible, and ended up infront of the Himitsu. Once inside, the fusion quickly understood the layout and went to the counter, pressing the button located on the metallic device, seemingly making a stereotypical bell noise.
Sulfur heard the bell, surprising him. He was sure that no customers would show up today, but he had to check if the bell had rung. Walking around the corner he examined his customer carefully. They were a gem, not too hard to believe given the weather. Sulfur approached the counter, placing a jar of cinnamon on a shelf. He leaned one elbow on the counter, he had determined that the gem was a fusion. He assume that since they walked around fused they were a permafusion.
Permafusions weren't too common but Sulfur knew one when he saw it. While he supported the idea of fusion, a permafusion would have difficulty blending into human society. It was true that some humans were aware of the alien forces on their planet, but Sulfur tended to lie low. He wondered what kind of propinquity could possibly hold a permafusion together.

Gaspeite was standing formally with her upper arms crossed, like always. She instantly noticed that the waiter was a gem, obviously observing her thoroughly, which usually happens when someone sees her for the first time, being obviously a fusion. Though, it slightly struck Gaspeite that even though he noticed her, the gem didn't bother simply greeting who was infront of the counter, let alone a diamond salute. She thought it was either an independant gem, a Crystal gem, or simply a homeworld gem which didn't mean to reveal itself.
Now after all this, Gaspeite only noticed she didn't know what she was gonna say.
"Greetings, I wish to know what's special about this place that humans are interested about? And also, it is surprising to see a gem working in a human infrastructure.
"This my child, is called a restaurant. This is a place where humans come to relax, although the main purpose it serves is a trade center for edibles. Organic lifeforms need edible energy to maintain themselves, I sell it here. Humans are interested in the particular items I serve as I serve them well." He said, leaning on the counter even farther. "Humans tend to flock here en masse every day, although today is an exception, notice the snow."
Sulfur motioned toward the window.
"Surprising? why is that? I believe our kind is full of rottenness, but we are not barbarians! We can do more than fight for our cause, we can be at peace" He said, surprised at the question. "I do a lot of fighting myself... so I tend to escape to a comfortable environment. To maintain my sanity if you know what I mean."

Gaspeite was just slightly annoyed to the fact that he called her a child while the fusion was visibly taller than him. Regardless, the gem seemed relatively wise as their answer were just what she was waiting from a reasonable mind.
"It is surprising, or rather, interesting to see only because since arriving here, I have seen a lot of gems being really close to the human culture, embracing it, interacting... Morion, mainly, I'm sure you know the individual, is the one who made me start thinking as of why are loyal gems so close to human culture.
A good time of meditation always does it for me, and fighting also helps. But anyway, is the stuff that you are providing to the humans actually worth the try?
She said, while taking a look at some sort of menu on the side, a lot of things that she didn't know would look like visually.
"I personally enjoy human music... it makes me feel alive." He said calmly. "If the humans will be destroyed we might as well adopt their culture. Personally I only do what's enjoyable, human arts are rather enjoyable to me at least. Smoky Quartz shares interests and negative opinions with me on many subjects. If you simply do as you are told then what is the point in living... you must taste the spice of life."
Sulfur raised his eyebrow as Gaspeite asked a rather insulting question.
"Mediation is quite nice, but when you have complete control over your mind it's quite an empty place. I like to work on the material plane." Sulfur said levitating into the air. He stacked dishes as he levitated. "All of the dishes on the menu are worth the try I can assure you. Why else would they be there?"

Gaspeite felt like she had to be a little bit more cheerish, or this conversation will just flow like it did with Chip a long time ago, but the fact that the gems she met were very defensive in speech didn't help. She learned to roll with it, and this gem wasn't bad at all compared to what can be found around.
After looking through the menu, Gaspeite found an interesting thing. "I was asking to get some directions, but I'll get a coffee and an omelette. I like gems who know that the humans are done for but still make the most of it's culture. You don't see that so often, but it makes some interesting conversation topics.
This is certainly an abrupt question, but are you independant or are you a loyal gem?
Gaspeite didn't know how it would turn out, but it was genuinely interesting, she tried to make it sound as best as possible even thought it was still a rather rough question.
"Excellent choice..." Sulfur said, writing down her order. His head continued to face toward his menu but his eyes turned to her as she spoke. "Why thank you, I am often pitted against horrific scenarios and I have learned to adapt. Dealing with human's fate and accepting their culture is nothing for me!"
He started to make the meal, but through a window they could still speak. He flipped the egg with what appeared to be a frying pan, due to the way he moved his arm. He actually was flipping the egg with a sword. The coffee was already made and in the machine. While Sulfur's floating sword cooked the egg he poured a cup of coffee. He then eyed her suspiciously at her next question.
"That certainly is an abrupt question! With all of the treachery going on lately it is not a wise one to answer. Who knows what alignment you are on?" Sulfur asked the rhetoric question. "I can't possibly answer, I would be revealing information about myself. If I did give away my alignment I might as well be lying. This is a restaurant, not a battlefield."

Gaspeite would stop questioning the gem, having asked enough to determine that he was rather well level-headed. She was interested by the fabrication process of what she had ordered, rather impressed by the utility of the levitation powers, even though she didn't need so much for multitasking, since she had 4 arms total.
"Well, indeed it is nice keeping this place as peaceful as possible. Now...
Gaspeite observed what was prepared with genuine interest. The plate and the tools on the side weren't the things to eat, so took the Omelette with the very convenient fork, eating the whole thing at once, munching on it with a contented look before swallowing it to drink the coffee normally- but in one go. Afterwards, she would take a napkin and wipe off the bits of omelette and coffee off her mouth.
"This was very good, now I see why some gems tend to eat regularly, it's clearly enjoyable, she said, looking back at the prices on the menu before taking out two bills of 10$. "It should be enough for the two, but keep the rest as a tip, I don't mind.
Sulfur noticed that while he cooked Gaspeite was watching. She seemed to be interested in his cooking. That was unique among gems.
"Of course." Sulfur said. "Every place should serve a purpose if managed correctly. A battlefield serves a purpose just as this diner does."
He started to put away the tools that he had used to prepare the meal. He didn't think that they would be used any time soon. He then watched as she devoured the meal in one bite. He had prepared it carefully, apparently some gems didn't understand gourmet food. Most gems.
"Indeed. It's much more enjoyable if you eat slowly though." Sulfur said, trying to not sound annoyed. "Thank you for your business." Sulfur said, taking the plate and bringing it to the sink. He started to wash it with a cloth.

"Hm, slowly... it wasn't the first thing that came to my mind but effectively, it extends the time spent savoring the dish.
Gaspeite said, although she wasn't very precise while talking ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). She felt like the other items on the list would also be interesting to taste, but she didn't mean to stay, there were a lot of other things she meant to see or do outside of eating food, at lot of other things for sure.
"Well now, there are some things awaiting me, I wouldn't want a rebel coming into the city without my notice. Anyway, this was refreshing and I'm sure I'll see you around, this city is not so big afterll. , she said while standing up from the stool/chair, before leaving the restaurant.
"That is the idea. It is meant to allow one to enjoy a food item for a very long time." Sulfur said. "Things such as chewable candy are the opposite, they release a burst of flavor. They are poorly made with no care. Once you eat one, you swallow it and it has run it's course. In order to experience it's flavor for an extended time one must eat many. This is the cause of obesity."
Sulfur had now finished cleaning up the remains from the meal.
"A rebel will not after the recent events that have taken place." Sulfur said, referring to when Morion flew over the city in a colony ship. "Farewell..."
Sulfur then started to stack several dishes on a dish rack. He liked slow days.

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
