Variscite cautiously scanned her horizon. The forest was a lush green, yet it appeared dead and the same time. Creatures of the forest appeared sparsely. Strange objects occupied space now and then, save for a few trees. Variscite figured they were some kind of Homeworld Ship. Being only three years old, she did not know much of this place or its history. Her sole aim was to eliminate corrupted gems. She had defeated and proofed many of them on her walk through the forest.
Despite the beautiful yet plain scenery thus far, Variscite felt a strange uneasy, as if insects were crawling down her spine. To conform her worse doubts, she turned, and just in time as a powerful corrupted gem bore down on her. It had the appearance of a large praying mantis with two pairs of pincers protruding from its lower abdomen, but had a human-like jaw bone instead of mandibles. A lions main flowed from its neck. It grit horse like teeth. As Variscite stared down the huge abomination, she had the sense it was far more powerful then the typical beasts she fought before.
It twisted its head to unleash a river of venom at Variscite. She dodged and rolled to her feet, sprinting toward her opponent. It threw her a distance away with its limb
From atop a high tree a shape came darting down. Landing in front of her was a green gem. Upon landing he had fallen into a crouch, he seemed more interested in the monster. Walking toward the mantis like creature he seemed to not even see it as an enemy. As he walked it lunged, swinging it's mandibles at him wildly. With a casual flick of his wrist three green swords appeared in the air under the beast. It flew into the blades, impaling itself.
The gem smirked as the beast poofed. He then scooped up the gem. Usually at this point it would be expected of a gem to bubble the abomination but this gem took it a step further. Dropping the gem he sliced it in half with his floating blades before it hit the ground. He had shattered it.
Variscite stared in shock and horror at a new participant in the fight. It could instantly be seen that this was a very powerful gem. Anyone with sense would have retreated, but Variscite was unable to. Rather, she was forced by the poisoning of her mind to stand. If Variscite fled from a battle, she submitted to her opponent, admitting that he was the stronger. This was something she could not do. Variscite had to be the strongest, for she knew that anyone with the ability to suppress her will to survive could destroy everything she feared to lose. No one deserves that. And so Variscite faced her opponent with cold confidence.
Knowing this gem was immensely powerful Variscite threw out everything she had. Variscite sprinted toward the gem with such speed her legs burned like lava flowed threw them. She summoned her weapon, a grappling hook for each hand, and launched each at him, swinging savagely. Her blows were followed up with more launches every time she pulled the extension back in. Several slicing motions with her weapon were followed up with desperate kicks and bashes. Variscite screamed.
Sulfur turned to see his new attacker. She was an insane one to be sure, nothing that his trademark abilities couldn't handle. He twirled a few times and his body glowed. He stopped twirling, blocking the first attack with- maracas? He was now wearing a Cuban dance outfit and holding maracas in either hand. A song was coming on. ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTI8hgWJh-I )
"They call me Cuban Pete ! I'm the king of the rhumba beat!
When I play the maraaacas I go chick chicky boom, chick chicky boom!" He sang as he danced. The 'dance' was actually a series of dodges. As he swung his hips he evaded each of the attacks. It seemed as if he weren't even paying attention.
"Yes sir I'm Cuban Pete I'm the craze of my native street
When I start to dance everything goes chick chicky boom!" He seemed to be advancing as he danced.
Variscite was bewildered. She had trained everyday constantly against monstrous pursuers. But this green gem blocked her calculated kicks with... maracas! Variscite grinned. His vanity and ignorance would be his downfall. If he went all out, Veriscite beloved, this dancing fool would defeat her. But surely she could eliminate her target at his current level of effort. She only needed to charge with all her might, make use of every second, always be two steps ahead, and a mantle of victory could be taken home.
Variscite reeled her grappling hooks in once more and launched them out, turning her body so her feet twisted violently to keep up with her upper body. She darted around, never sprinting in a continued pattern. She distributed her weight to change direction. Variscite cried and laughed at the humiliation she felt, giving all she had, Variscite had not landed a single blow.
Variscite swung her hook across, cord extended, slicing horizontally. Every time she attacked, the opposing gem dodged carelessly and with ease. Furious and indignant, Variscite darted around the forest, frantically maneuvering in and out of the trees. She latched on to one with her grapple and then pulled her self up in the tree, retracting her weapon. She then proceeded to swing recklessly through the air, attaching her grapple to a nearby tree to reach it and then moving to another
The air born gem navigated around her opponent, who continued to dance with apparently little concern for what she was doing. Variscite occasionally rushed at him, attempting to land a round-house kick while she flew by or slashing with her small blades. Although she was hopelessly exhausted, Variscite continued on.
At this point Sulfur noticed his opponent was tiring. If he were to strike it would be best to do so now. This gem however, had gone all out to attack him. The first thought running through his head was that this was an old enemy. On closer examination he realized that they weren't fighting to defeat him. This gem was fighting to prove something to itself. He could use gems like this easily.
"Ai Ai Ai!" Sulfur yelled as he twirled his hips. The Blob of flesh returned to his body as he twirled. He quickly released the maracas. They darted toward her with force that could poof an ordinary gem. Sulfur looked at her scornfully as he changed back into his regular attire. It started to rain.
Variscite saw her enemy's first attack coming to fast to block or evade, she braced for impact. The maracas hit her at full force, sending her body back to the ground with a cruel thud. Variscite landed so hard that she bounced, sending her legs over her head. The wounded gem's body continued to roll and flip over until it finally stopped.
After laying like a rag doll on the ground for a few seconds, Variscite leaped up, but to no use. Her feet gave out from under her, forcing a crawl. Variscite was losing her form, she felt as if her body were to poof, clinging only to her desperate will to survive. Variscite crawled toward the enemy as fast as she could, gaining distance.
He was clearly surprised at her display of endurance. Not only had her form survived, but her will had aswell. Sulfur watched his opponent desperately crawl toward him. He didn't know why they were possibly so bent on this victory. As they crawled toward him he didn't react, waiting for them to arrive. He watched her through the corner of his eyes.
As she approached him his hand shot out and grabbed her hair. He wrenched her from the floor and held her up by the hair. He glared slightly into her eyes, as if trying to search her soul for her reasoning behind the attack. Unable to find what he was looking for, Sulfur decided to be blunt.
"Why did you attack me?" He said, cold as your teeth after biting a popsicle. He was getting straight to the point.
Variscite glared coldly, imagining turning her enemy's innards into outards. Up to this point, no foe had crushed her this flawlessly. Sure, Variscite had lost to a select few corrupted gems in her past, but this was different. He was by far the strongest opponent Variscite had encountered. Did beings like this even exist! This was no wild beast. It had the intelligence to reason as she did, meaning it could decide to kill those Variscite could not live without, leaving her idle to watch in utter despair.
The rain that bore down on Variscite now felt poisoned knifes, pealing through her body and soul, causing her to lose sanity. And yet she could not, no, not for one second yield to her weakness, or it would turn her into an empty husk. Variscite continued staring down the other gem with pure malice and hatred, but mostly deep envy.
Sulfur seemed patient at first, waiting as she remained silent. He stared into her eyes once more in attempt to see if he could read her mind. Sulfur had a few abilities, but mind reading was not among them. He continued to stare for a while with a scornful gaze. It soon became evident that this gem wasn't going to speak.
"My patience is growing thin. I asked you a question" He hissed.
He continued to wait for her to respond. His interest for this gem outweighed his impatience, he deicded to wait a bit longer for her to talk. He then scoffed, trying to look more impatient than he actually was so that she would be more inclined to talk.
Variscite observed her situation, for it was a strange one to be sure. Her hair felt as if it were to come off in the stronger gem's hand, but she did not care. Variscite continued to stair, with more of a confused look now than a hateful one. This idiotic maraca player had went from a comical, careless fool to a serious, bone shilling antagonist.
Variscite felt her body trying to repair itself, trying to regain control of its projected form. Maybe if she distracted him with words she could heal up. No. It would take quite some time for Variscite to be well enough to attack again. She was completely drained. Yet even if she managed to continue barraging her foe with vicious blows, he would not be touched. he defeated her with maracas... Variscite could not believe her own situation. She let lose a stream of blood-curdling laughter.
Sulfur's eyelids dropped in irritation. His prey had lost it's mind. He was considering shattering it, but he needed to make sure that it would be profitable to do so. He had to take her back to the manor to calm her down. She clearly was facing some sort of personal issue right now. Perhaps the laugh gave it away?
"Silence! I've had enough!" Sulfur yelled, kicking the gem backward. He reached onto the back of her neck with his hand. Wrenching his fingers under her gem he twisted until it came loose, poofing her. He bubbled the gem and sent it off. After all the time he had wasted dealing with her he hoped it had been worth it. The rain was coming down hard. Sulfur started to walk away from the area.
Melody: as usual, just waiting for posts
