Again, Sulfur had called his allies in for a meeting, and again he hadn't told them why. He had given them coordinates to a location near his mansion, but yet in the middle of a wasteland. For all they know he could have been giving them coordinates to nowhere. At any rate, the coordinates would only be recognizable to Lady Blue Quartz, who gave that land to him. The location however, was significant. In the middle of the same horrid, storm filled and gloomy wasteland was a huge fortress. It was surrounded by a moat of Lava.
(I can't draw castles I know XD)
The castle was immense, having four pillars on each side. Their logo was plastered about several places on the castle. The drawbridge fell, crossing the lava moat. It's large gates had door knockers in the shape of screaming humans' faces. The ring that one would knock with was in their mouths. Pathways outside the walls could be seen for swift passage. Sulfur himself was on the balcony, looking down at the drawbridge, waiting for his allies to arrive. In his hand he held the bubbled gem, Variscite. He had recently popped Howlite's bubble, waiting for him to arrive. He had decided to wait until his allies had gathered to release Variscite. Howlite however he released before they had arrived. He was perhaps the most loyal of his affiliates after all.
Inside the castle Howlite's gem began to glow. Bone chilling laughter filled the area. Howlite reformed with a grin on his face. "I'm back in action Boss!" Then he looked at Sulfur. "Are you disappointed in me? I know I should have won but, I made a dumb move. I apologise." He really didn't like it when he looked stupid in front of Sulfur. It made him feel like he's wasting his boss's time. Howlite had Sulfur on quite the pedestal. "I'm ready to serve once more!" He was ready for anything that came his way.
After quite a while, Sulfur noticed that his cohorts weren't going to arrive any time soon. He feared that his directions had been insufficient. Still, he couldn't blame them. Only an idiot would walk through a wasteland with no clue as to what they may find. He was almost glad that they had not attempted to come. If they had, they had most likely run into trouble along the way. He turned from the balcony to face Howlite.
"Quick to regenerate as ever Howlite. It seems most defective gems are superior in regeneration speed. I myself regenerate quite fast, I don't know why that is." Sulfur pondered. "Oh not in the least my boy! You should have won, you only made a silly mistake... with the chandelier. It will not happen again... that's why... she's your servant now! Well... squire."
Sulfur then popped the bubble and waited for Variscite to regenerate.
"As far as your knighthood goes, As my castle is done I am now a count and you can be my knight, simply sign here." Sulfur handed Howlite a document with small print and a lot of writing. "This needs to be official."
"She's my squire? Man, Mocha is gonna get a kick outta this." He started laughing when Sulfur have him a form. "Ah I see." He signed the papers and handed them back. "Here you are. So that would make my title Sir, correct? Sir Howlite.... I like the sound of that." He then noticed something. "Wait a second... Where is everybody? I bet they got lost. So I guess there is a plus side to my unfortunate accident!" He then walked up to Variscite's gem. "Does she know what a squire is? I really hope she does otherwise I have a lot of explaining to do. But oh well! Ooh Boss! I've got an idea! What if we set something up? Like a dramatic entrance for us when they all get here."
Dark shapes and shadows shifted back and forth. Variscite felt cold, dark, and alone. Was this death? No. She had been poofed by the Count so that she would not know the way to the meeting place. The misfortunate gem sat in silence for what felt like an eternity.
And then, sudden light flooded her eyes. She was going to reform. Panic filled all of her being. She had to be on her best behavior. Yes. That would be proper for her own intentions. 'The broken gems.' Should she reform with their logo. No. It would likely offend the so easily offended Count, as she was not a member yet.
At last she stood before them, free from her literally, internal prison.
"What?" Variscite said gesturing to her clothes. "Too shabby."
"Who told you that you could speak!? " He hissed. He then cleared his through and ran his hand along the bridge of his nose, calming down. "Howlite here is my knight, if you are to join us you will be serving primarily under him. To serve the broken gems is not to serve me, it is to serve any of it's founders. Also, to be approved by all of them."
Sulfur started to levitate, he sat seven feet in the air, cross legged and looked at her as if examining her. He then smirked. Those harpoons may come in handy... He thought.
"Alright now, what is your name? If you mentioned it I was too busy ignoring you." Sulfur said, rotating his wrist.
Howlite looked at her. "How ya doing? I believe we may have gotten off on the wrong foot earlier. Name's Howlite." He held out his hand for a shake. He began pulling out all his charm. That was his true talent. He could charm his way past anyone. "I do believe that once you get to know me, you'll see that I'm quite the fun guy. Just ask the Boss. Now then to business, you do know what a squire is right? If not... To put it in Homeworld terms... You're my Pearl. That's really the best way to put it. But I won't do that to you no. I spent my life being other gems' knife or rather their bullet. I'm not gonna treat you like dirt until you give me a reason to. I say we enjoy this new opportunity, and get to know one another."
Variscite was about to smile at the thought, but then refrained from doing so, as it may further annoy him. If she pretended to be afraid, he would likely disrespect her even more. So she simply resided to answer his questions systematically.
"My name is Variscite. I worked for Homeworld for a time."
Then she turned to Howlite and smiled.
"Greetings Howlite. I am doing fine now that I'm free from my gem. I am well aware that I have caused trouble when I was against you, but that is in the past and I sincerely apologize for it. I believe what you say and I look forward to working with you."
She saluted Howlite with a quick bow, then shook his hand.
"Haven't we all? Except my Knight here. He was a broken gem from the moment he emerged!" Sulfur chuckled. "Well, Variscite, I'm going to call you Vari, after a nocturnal nesting lemur. As you will be a sneaky member of our group with your harpoons."
Sulfur watched her apologize to Howlite but did not smile. Still, it seemed that he was not disappointed, as if he expected this.
"She is not only to serve as your pearl Sir Howlite, I also expect you to train her and treat her with respect. I have respected you as my apprentice, and you will in turn respect yours." Sulfur nodded. "She will most likely be one of us soon enough. She should be treated as such."
"Of course Boss!" He looked at Variscite. "Hmmm... It seems you have potential. And don't worry about earlier. It's past me. Now then, let's see what I'll make your first task be? Oooh I've got it! My first order is.... Have a drink with me and the Boss. Sure he won't drink anything but it's a nice way to relax. And that's an order so you can't refuse!" He smiled at her. He wasn't gonna be some cruel heartless jerk. He wasn't like that at all. He'd teach her to respect him not fear him.
Variscite did not know what the blue gem meant by that. Sure, she had consumed human replenishing substances for amusement before, but she figured Howlite was referring to something else. She resolved to "drink" anyway. More likely than not, drinking was something allies did for comfortable association with each other. The probability of it accompanying the kind of conversation her customers at a coffee shop shared with each other was high. Was It seemed Howlite was seeking a friendship, rather than torturing her for longer, which is what she expected. This would make joining the Broken gems a lot easier. Perhaps she would even come to respect him in time, all of the others as well. "Easy is always best." A Homeworld gem had once told her.
Sulfur nodded as Howlite mingled with his new apprentice. His face suddenly froze when Howlite said 'and the boss.'
"I will not participate in this drink my knight!" Sulfur chuckled. He wished that he had a coffee right about now, but to do that he would have to visit the west wing of his turret. He simply watched them. "I`ll be entirely fine watching you two enjoy yours. I have never been a fan of alchohol."
Sulfur looked over the balcony, still no sign of the others.
"Once the others arrive I will brief you on your mission." Sulfur turned to Variscite. "Vari, treat this as your first test out of two you must pass. Failure will result in rejection."
Howlite smirked. "I know Boss. You're a lightweight. But that's OK. I just meant you'll be in on the conversation. Now then." He pulled a bottle from his hoodie. "It's Amontillado. Really good stuff. Here. Take a sip of this and see what you think." He handed Variscite the bottle. "Now I should probably lay down the basics of what's to come. I'll make it simple. Most gems would spend their days figuring out ways to belittle you. But me? I suffered from that all my life. I'm gonna show you how to be not a gem." He paused for dramatic effect. "But a monster. We'll start with basic combat training. If you're gonna fight Quartzes you're gonna at least need to be able to contend with me first. Your skills are raw but impressive. I'll make you an elite like me." He placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Everything will be just fine."
Variscite looked down at the bottle in her hand curiously. She attempted to take of the bottle top, failed to do so, and then pulled harder, opening the bottle. She smiled and took a distinguished sip. The taste could best be described as interesting.
"This is good."
"Not be a gem huh? Interesting analogy. I am not a fan of cowards who desperately try to belittle someone else in order to make themselves feel better either. This method of wasting time to crippling another is one of my most despised weaknesses I see in certain gems. After losing to you, Howlite, I realized that I was not as strong as I need to be. No. Not even close. The way you fought different from anything I would have expected. You're technique is more than refined. I will be honored to learn the secrets to your might."
"I believe that being concerned with honor is a limitation. Howlite is deemed insane by many, yet he is a gem who has captured multiple specimen. It's a wonder that you were able to defeat him. My point being, there is honor is everything that liberates you. That is why I oppose homeworld, they use brute force with an army of blind fools who cannot think for themselves. It seems in life... quantity does defeat quality. This I hate. If you can be stronger than another in a one-on-one fight then you are honored regardless of your tactic." Sulfur said. "Howlite will teach you, but he is still learning from me. Sometimes the greatest weapon is not the sword but the tongue. Diplomacy is the sharpest sword that one can master. I will in time teach both of you to be diplomatic... as you... have gotten into trouble due to reckless choices."

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.

*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
