Chip was just standing there, he had no idea which way to choose. He was good at fighting monsters, but technology was something that went completely pass him. All those corridors were looking the same to him, but there had to be some way that would help the crew to navigate this ship...
"Are you sure, that those smalls pebbles will trigger the traps? You were on ship before, right? Is there some way to navigate the ship? Some kind of writing, some signs or maps or something?"
He asked them. The only ship he was on was Morion's ship and he was there just once...
"But as I said... I know very little about this... so I should really leave this to you..."
Bloodstone was just as confused about what to do...Ice may have had a good idea but Octi just didn't feel 100% comfortable in the ship still. Something about it was off but he didn't have much of a choice now anyway.
"I could...try to see if I could climb on the ceiling and go that way until I reached the end of the corridor. Of course..no guarantees as to what would be at the end but it's a start. I want to stick with you guys at the same time, though. So if one of us goes, I suggest we all go. That's the best thing to do ESPECIALLY if there happen to be any monsters around the ship"
Ice frowned a little after what Chip said "I'm not sure of much at all right now, I honestly wouldn't expect them to go off on their own at all, but it sounds like they must be messed up from sitting here on this planet for so long..." He wasn't sure what to expect from the ship's traps, the difference in technology was too much, he was too new to tell what traps the technology would allow for at the time. He knew a bit about the general layout, but everything in between the important areas was kind of unknown to him.
"I've been on a few ships, but those were mostly smaller ones, and they were completely different from this." Ice was biting his lip down now, as a more experienced engineer would be a lot more helpful than him in this scenario.
However, his spirits were raised right up when Bloodstone mentioned an idea about getting around without touching the floor. "That's a good idea, I'm sure most of the traps are on the ground, so it could definitely work."
Post by Chip the Fire Opal on Mar 21, 2017 18:17:04 GMT
Bloodstone was most likely right - there was no reason to put traps anywhere but on the ground. Then again in Chip's opinion there wasn't really a reason to put traps anywhere. "You're right... so let's go this way..."
They lost enough time so Chip just summoned his fire wings and hovered above ground. With that he just slowly flew forward. He had no idea, if there were traps or not, but he didn't activated any by flying... so that was probably a good idea.
Before he could flew far the whole ship shook a little... the source was really loud roar coming from somewhere in the ship... and several roars answered it... those weren't as loud, but still loud enough...
Bloodstone looked around nervously after the ship shook, he had just lifted Ice off of the ground a little bit with some spare chains, in case he couldn't go above the floor, but he got a vey uneasy feeling..
"Erm...Chip? Was that one or some of the monsters that you were referring to? And if so, just how BIG are these monsters going to be? I just realized we never went over that crucial little part of information."
Octi was right, in a sense. For some reason none of them ever thought to ask about how big the monsters may be or just what TYPES of monsters they were even going to encounter. Those were generally things that were best to make sure before going on a monster related quest
Ice jumped quickly at the sound of roaring coming from somewhere inside the ship, then continued to shiver violently as the roaring continued to a lesser extent. Ice just gave an uneasy gulp and got on Bloodstone's chain, allowing him to stay above the ground.
He looked up at Chip from the chain when Bloodstone started asking about the monsters. Ice was clearly worried about the monsters now, the others could probably tell just by looking at him. Honestly, he had just been hoping that they wouldn't run into any monsters. Up to this point it seemed possible, but now he was a little less certain about the whole ordeal.
He didn't really have anything to say, so he didn't say anything. He just waited for Chip to answer Bloodstone's question. When the group was quiet, Ice's shivering seemed to echo through the ship, only pausing for brief moments when he gulped or took a deep breath.

"Certainly sounded like one of them... I'm not exactly an expert on knowing monster by their roaring... I have the feeling they know we're here... they're starting to hunt..."
He said. He had a bad feeling about this. Especially since he suspected the strongest roar was his good old pal - the monster that nearly killed him the last time he was here. But now he had two gems with him. And one was Bloodstone, who was one of the strongest gems he knew.
"Most of them are... standard size? There was this one though... bigger... stronger... I blasted him twice with me fire, he shrugged it off like it was nothing... and it could tear those walls like it was paper... but there are three of us, so what could possibly go wrong... am I right?"
Octi looked over at Chip in surprise when he had described what happened the last time he was there. He also couldn't help but sigh a little
"Okay, I have no idea how much this applies, but stereotypical earth movie rule #5 in my book, never ask that question. Because generally what happens is that when you ask that, anything that can go wrong WILL go wrong...or was that Murphy's Law I'm thinking of?"
Bloodstone had picked up on some lingo from the humans after watching movies and studying stuff for enough time. While that might have just been something that they used in the entertainment...it wouldn't hurt to keep it in mind
"They know we're here?" Ice spoke in a fairly frightened voice. He knew very very little about the monsters, he'd never even seen a corrupted gem before, this was not an encounter he'd be prepared for. The larger one that Chip describes sounded absolutely terrifying, having the ability to resist his fire that much and then tear through these walls like they were nothing.
It didn't help when Chip said there were three of them either, Ice was pretty aware of how little he could help the other two, if anything he'd likely be a hindrance. They did have a fairly decent chance though, if they could just find that control centre they'd be home free. The control centre would have a map of the place, it could probably see a bunch of the areas on the ship, and if they needed to clear out monsters they could probably set off traps manually to do it.
Ice almost understood what Bloodstone was talking about. It was kinda like that movie he watched, the only movie he'd ever watched, Jaws. Where everything seemed to go wrong. Ice just hoped that this wasn't going to end up like that movie.

"You are too dramatic... the gems are somewhere, not even close... and I very much doubt anything I can tell will make them come sooner... our job is still the same. Let's continue to the control room. It's better then stand here and wait. And I was really drained last time I was here... I had to melt a blast door... now I am at full power... "
He said to calm the situation down. He had no idea that Bloodstone was so... superstitious. Humans believed in a loot of silly things and most of them were completely unfounded.
"It shouldn't be that far, right Ice?"
He asked just to get Ice thinking about something different then a swarm of killer monsters closing on them...
Bloodstone sighed and nodded, realizing how silly he was probably sounding
"Apologies...I just don't think I've ever had to deal with a situation that might have been like this before. Never really tried to do any serious monster hunting before in all honesty."
Octi sighed, slowly starting to calm down as he looked down at Ice
"Ice...I know it might not be of the most help, given how your abilities work, but just remember all of the tricks we had gone over with your skates. It might come in handy if that circumstance comes up."
The Bloodstone was hoping that the training he had done with Ice would have paid off for...well for SOMETHING. Hopefully he at least remembered the lessons
The things Chip said were a little comforting, but the whole situation still had Ice quivering in fear. When Chip asked him how far it would be, Ice took his mind off of the monsters and started trying to solve that question. He didn't have much luck with it, but it did work well to change his focus.
He squinted ahead, and looked back the best he could. "Hmmm, I'm not sure. We haven't really gone upwards yet, and it's likely that the control centre is at the very top of the ship. I guess right now we're probably just looking for some stairs or something along that line." He wished the ship was a new one, if that was the case, he'd know a whole lot more about what he was doing.
Ice then responded to Bloodstone with a simple "kay" and a nod of his head. Then proceeded to bite his lip and feel a hint of guilt. He felt that even with what he'd learned, he'd end up getting in the way at best. There'd only been like one time ever where he'd acted accordingly in a combat situation, and that fact alone left him a bit uneasy.

So they were on a wrong level to the top of everything? This ship was so big... and there were dozens of corridors everywhere... they could be here for hours... days... with monsters hunting them... this was getting crazy... and they just started...
"OK, plan B..."
Chip concentrate energy and flew towards the ceiling. With a blast of fire he made a hole through to next level. There was some sound like a laser is shooting against the wall... there was probably some kind of traps that got activated by Chip blasting up a hole in the ship. Fortunately it didn't hit anything but the wall...
"Oooh, shiny... a laser trap, that will be handy... "
He picked up a marker and made a sign for the reclamation team, waiting for his companion to join him.
Bloodstone wrapped some chains around Ice again as he swung up through the hole that Chip had made in the ceiling, taking Ice carefully before looking around carefully, not entirely sure where to go next
"Well...that's one part of the ship we don't have to worry about. Thanks for making that exit Chip. Hopefully it's something that we could use to get back out of here....j-just in case."
Octi shrugged as he loosened some of the chains on Ice, keeping one around him just in case they needed to get moving and the ground just..disappeared or something along the lines of that.
"I wonder where to go next...can't really tell where we go on top of this floor area"
Ice went wide eyed as he watched Chip simply blow a hole through the ceiling, and then flinched when he heard a laser of some sort go off as a result. They may have been running the risk of attracting unwanted attention from the monsters, but the blast probably did more good than bad. The way he saw it, being on the right floor was worth it. After all, they'd probably wander around in circles down there until a monster came anyway.
Once in the new floor, Ice started looking around to see if there was anything at all that would give him an idea of which way to go. Sadly, there wasn't much of a difference between this and what was directly below it. "I don't really have a good idea of which way to go, but this floor seems to be parallel to the one we were just on, so maybe we should head in the opposite direction we were just going on the first floor, and then when we get to the area directly above the entrance we came in through, we'll know to just head straight forward from there and we should be able to get to the control room."
This plan was a little faulty in that Ice was assuming that the floors were going to have the same basic layout and that the area above the entrance would be directly connected to the control room. But it might've been their best shot. Worst case scenario, maybe Chip could blast a way to the control centre from the area above the entrance. Ice wasn't a very good navigator, but there were times when his ideas made sense, the question was if this was one of them.

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
Orginal Opening Plot Here Thread That Changed Everything
Differances Between the Roleplay and the Show
*Thanks to Rose Quartz' message the Gems on Earth are entirely aware that the Homeworld Gems intend to wipe out the human race.
*The "corruption"'s Origin is still unknown, some suspect it was a viral infection, other claim it was a Diamond experiment gone awry and other suspect the organics were behind it. Regardless no one seem to have a proper answer about what it was and why its only isolated to Earth
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
