Why would Pyrope just back off like that? Does this gem really have that much power over them, this was more of things he still didn't really understand. The line of power that falls to some gems, giving them control over other gems. It was so strange to him.
"What. Is. This?!" Really a VERY good question.
"Uh..... de-defusing the situation? With a hug?" is what he wanted to say, what came out was "Uh..." before he was gripped up by the larger gem by his neck, her hand closing in around his warn and battered gem core. Picking up and whipped across the hall which, wasn't too large so he didn't have to travel very far before slamming into the wall. His gem "clinking" off the wall. Did something crack? What ever it was it hurt, a pain ringing though his body from his core... maybe chipped?
He dropped to the ground face first, not really moving too much as his projection went rather limp. It took him a moment before he started to move again, pulling himself upright and propping himself up against the wall, still seated with his legs pitched out before him. He wasn't looking up, his eyes dead locked with the floor below them.
He let out a soft sigh, "O-Ok... that hurt..." both his hands moved up to grip the back of his neck, shielding his gem core. He didn't move much more... just sat there. He didn't want to fight anymore, he tried all he could and failed at every turn, if things went any farther he would have to defend himself. Very much not wanting that to happen.
Once she was done feeling sorry for herself Pyrope finally got a grip and focused back entirely on the situation. She was about to ask if XB really hadn't heard of a hug before, but she gave herself the same answer that fit most questions she asked, they were a newly arrived Homeworld gem. Still, it would be best to pry off Varis before he got... she flinched as he was flung into the wall with an audible clink. Immediately the neutral glare she held gave way to a look of concern, "Varis!" Acting without thinking Pyrope pushed past XB and knelt down to examine him.
Ignoring any protests Varis might put up she examined his gem core to make sure it wasn't cracked or damaged in any way, "Are you alright? I swear I'm going to buy you neck brace if you aren't more careful! Or at least maybe a scarf..." It was odd, she almost said it as if she was threatening protection onto him although it was clear it came more from worry than anything. In checking Varis over Pyrope also made sure to keep herself between him and XB. She didn't really expect XB to make a move, it seemed they were acting more out of surprise than anything.
Upon tossing the Variscite gem away, the very first thing 7XB did was look downward, patting themself to ensure that Variscite tried to would them. Or, perhaps they has tried to stick some sort of.. Explosive device to their body? Only when it became clear that nothing had been attached to them did they look up, a look of even greater confusion painted upon their pale face; It was only now that they noticed the fusion..Er Pyrope kneeling by the other gem. "He's fine!" They insisted with a gruff defensiveness. That was what he got for..Doing whatever it was he had done to them. This would, perhaps, remind Variscite that 7XB was a quartz commander and, more importantly, did not take kindly to being touched.
He flintched for just a moment, bucking up against the wall a bit more when Pyrope dropped to a knee before him. Looking back down as they tried to look at his core, he didn't want to move his hands right away, keeping his fingers locked for a moment before they were pried open by the tall red gem. With his core exposed to Pyrope, they could see it was quite scratch up, seems to be an older looking chip missing from his rough cut gem. One other chip looked much more fresh then the other.
Noting that the Quartz at least wasn't on a warpath anymore... maybe that was good but... is Pyrope gonna look bad interacting with him? "Y-Yea.. I'm fine. Don't worry, I uh... d-don't think a scarf would add much protection." He glance up at Pyrope, a bit of a force smile painted itself across his face. "D-Don't get in trouble for me, H-hit me." he was whispering just loud enough for Pyrope to hear, he knew they were aligned with Homeworld... this Quartz was clearly some kind of higher ranking gem, "It can't look good to uh... be fr-friends with me." He straightened himself upright more to be able to take any in-coming swing.
He may have still felt guilty about earlier, not to mention he wasn't going to let them throw away however long they had been serving for him... they haven't even known him too long in comparison to other gems they would have known.
Pyrope didn't even bother giving XB a response, shaking her head at Varis' roughed up gem core, "Geez, you really are one for getting into trouble." She stopped inspecting his core, letting Varis relax against the wall. While she was still trying to figure out what to do next Varis piped up with a suggestion that threw her for a loop, "What? You can't be..." He really was serious wasn't he, he was willing to take a strike (even after that stunt with XB) to preserve her standing. How? How was he so willing to put up with so much just for her sake. She matched his whispered tone, "You really are something else aren't you." she sighed, "Come here you big dummy."
Again ignoring his protests she moved to pick him up in both arms, standing up and turning to XB with a rather stern look that left no room for negotiation, "I'm taking him somewhere. I'll find you later, continue the mission without me." And like that (assuming Varis didn't put up too much of a fight) she began carrying him towards the warp pad.
It was only now, as the Pyrope fusion sliced through them with that stern, icy glare that 7XB began the process of regaining their composure, the rage sliding from their face like a mask as their smoldering gaze fell upon the rather.. harmless looking form of the Variscite within Pyrope's grasp (though they knew them to be the farthest thing from harmless). In that brief moment there was a glimpse of something..raw upon their face. Concern? Regret as they came to their senses? Either way it was soon hidden beneath their ruthlessly impassive mask, though perhaps a bit of it lingered in their eyes as the other two gems reached the (thankfully undamaged) warp.
And then they were gone, leaving 7XB alone with their thoughts in this solemn bastion. Perhaps that was good, for now.
This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.

Differances Between the Roleplay and the Show
*Thanks to Rose Quartz' message the Gems on Earth are entirely aware that the Homeworld Gems intend to wipe out the human race.
*The "corruption"'s Origin is still unknown, some suspect it was a viral infection, other claim it was a Diamond experiment gone awry and other suspect the organics were behind it. Regardless no one seem to have a proper answer about what it was and why its only isolated to Earth
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
