Flint beamed when she said Jersey. "You're kidding! Shoot how long have you been here? I could've visited you. But that was then. This is now! And I completely agree with you Obsidian. Most gems think of humans as some sort of sub species that were under evolved. It just doesn't make sense. Blue and I assimilated with them incredibly quick. Now I think we're more like humans than gems. Heck, we're even married. That's a concept I believe should be taught on Homeworld. Yes we're immortal but that doesn't make our lives any less precious. We still can devote eternity to someone we care about. That's one emotion I wish the Diamonds understood. Love. Love and Compassion are two things they will never understand. Maybe if they did, we wouldn't be in this horrible mess." Then he smiled. "What am I doing? I shouldn't be buying us out. Take us to your club!"

"Oh I've never had a problem with Jersey. Lovely people here." Then Flint talked about them getting married. "That's right. You're looking at Blue Emerald-Quartz. I even took his last name. I had to hyphenate it though so that other gems' wouldn't mistake me for a Quartz. Goodness that would be irritating, having to constantly tell people I'm not actually a Quartz." She looked around at the run down town of Jersey. "It's not so bad. It's still better than Ocean Town." She laughed at the joke. She wondered if Obsidian would pick up on it. "Now where is your night club. I'm going to march in there and earn back my title. Oh and Flint? Don't forget to wear shades so you don't blind yourself. You remember our first night club? You nearly destroyed the place when you couldn't see anything."
"Nice that you like it here, to be honest it took me some time to get used to it, I've been here for about a year." She said with a smile. It wasn't her gloaty smile that she made when trying to be cool, but a friendly and sincere smile. She then listened as the two further explained their marriage. "I think I don't ever want to marry like a human, gems can't die of age like humans and the practice brings two gems close. Since we can't die, but can be killed we are almost certain to die at different times...so I would rather stay alone. It's funny, it almost makes me jealous of their short lives..."
Obsidian became uncomfortable with how deep this was becoming.
"Oh sure! Let's go!" Obsidian quickly lead them down a road. "Watch for cars, they don't always stop."
"Well just in case." He picked up Blue and put her on his shoulders. "there you go. Just to be sure that if cars don't stop they won't hit you. Now let's go!" He followed Obsidian through the road. Ever so often a car would accidentally hit him. He didn't feel it since they were going slowly. But the cars occasionally would lose pieces of the front end. "Sorry!" He shouted every time a car smashed into him. He looked up at Blue. "Good thing you're up there where it's safe or you'd probably be a pancake by now. Ok I believe we're almost there. Ready?" He was looking forward to this. Back when he was protector of Beach City, he often struggled to find time. And he could rarely take Blue with him because no one would watch the city while they're gone. Being a loyal was already starting to show some perks.

Blue giggled when Flint placed her on his shoulders. "You know something Flint? I'm surprised no one has mistaken me for your child. Given our height difference it would make sense to humans. But who knows?" Blue waved at every human they passed by. Most of them just kept walking. "Not too many friendly faces huh?" She looked down at the ground. "So this is what it's like to be as tall as you? I'm surprised you can even see me. I guess it's different from the other gem's perspective right?" She looked around, searching for any signs of Obsidian's night club. "I don't see it. What about you?" She looked around as they walked so she could get a good sense of the environment. With luck she'd have the whole area mapped out before the night was over.
Obsidian blushed and grinned at the gems. She thought that their height difference was adorable, especially when he put her on his shoulders. Obsidian would look out for cars and step backward or run to avoid hitting the cars. It was easy to do as she knew the roads, but was surprised that her guests could keep up. She turned to ask if they had been there before when the Quartz answered her question. He wasn't dodging the cars at all, in fact it seemed like a third of the cars hit him! She grinned, seeing comedy in this.
"Nah, Jersey isn't known for its residents." Obsidian said, smiling and shrugging. "The ones at my night club are cool though."
"Oh the nightclub? That's right here!"
As they walked they reached a large black warehouse. Obsidian pushed the doors open, revealing a small room with another door. This room was meant to keep the light of day from interfering with the dancers' blacklights. She proceeded into the next door with her companions. A spacious nightclub with a colorful dance floor, many glowing bracelets, a Dj, and blacklights that made anything white look green.
Flint walked in. Suddenly he was blinded by all the lights and shrieked. "Gah! I forgot about the lights!" He stopped moving. "I'll be fine. I'll be fine. Just give me a minute." He shapeshifted a pair of sunglasses on his face. "Once my sight comes back these should help me see without going blind." He felt around trying to figure out where he was. "Blue? Can you give me a hand? I need you to help me navigate until my eyesight comes back. We haven't gone clubbing in so long. I forgot how bright things are in these places." He wished he had shifted on the sun glasses sooner. Then he wouldn't look like a fool in front of his new friend. "Sorry you have to see me like this Obsidian. I'm usually much more careful about these things."

Blue smiled as they walked in. Then Flint shrieked in pain. Poor thing. His eyes were sensitive to bright lights. She climbed down from his shoulders and held his hand. "Don't worry baby I've got you. It's ok. I'm gonna guide you towards the dance floor. Just follow where I'm leading you." She slowly walked over to the floor while holding Flint's hand. Don't worry. You'll be okay. We are almost there." She turned to Obsidian. "Sorry about that. His eyes are a lot sharper than most. Bright lights hurt his eyes. He won't be able to see for a little bit. Those glasses will help him once the pain goes away." She then walked Flint to the center of the floor. "Ok I'm going to let go now. Can you see?" She then took her hand off of him.
Obsidian's eyes widened in shock as Flint reacted to the lights. It wasn't her fault, but she felt awful. He seemed to take care of himself though and was fine. Then what proceeded was another cute scene between the couple. Blue seemed to not only be taken care of by the Quartz, but seemed to take care of him aswell. Obsidian would pay money to watch these two interact.
"Hey you guys! I thought you said you had some moves to show me!" Obsidian taunted. She started to perform a dance that was recognizably salsa, if one knew what that was. It was a small dancing element part of disco, but Obsidian could make it into a large dance. With every step in the dance her torso remained upright, yet her weight shifted. This caused her hips to move. Her shoulders and arms flowed dramatically with the dance.
When Blue let go, Flint's vision returned. "Ok. I'm good now. Thanks Blue." Then Obsidian was dancing trying to challenge them. Flint nodded. "Oh you're asking for it now." He stepped forward then back. Then he went left and then right. As he did, he shimmied his shoulders. He began snapping his fingers as he danced. The whole time he kept a straight posture. He probably looked silly given his massive size and bulky frame. He wasn't built for dancing so he often looked silly doing it. But he didn't mind. As long as Blue was having a good time, he didn't care how he looked. He then turned to Blue. "Come on baby! Dance with me!" He moved away to make room for her.

Blue smiled when Flint started dancing. She knew that it may have looked silly to most people but not to her. She knew that he did it for her. Then Flint told her to dance and cleared her a space. She faced him. "Oh no. I don't think so Flint Quartz. You're getting over here and dancing with me." She took him by the hand and led him to the space with her. She then started what was easily recognized as the bump. She moved her hips left and right. She times it with Flint so they'd bump into each other. She kept her hands in the air the whole time. She didn't care if Obsidian did better than she did. As long as she could dance the night away with her husband, she didn't care who was best.
Obsidian continued to alternate moves as she danced, she felt as if she was easily a more worthy queen of disco at first. After a while however, noticing how much fun the two were having, she questioned herself. It was not a matter of how well a gem danced, but of the company they shared it with. Obsidian now acknowledged the fact that she had never danced with another gem, let alone had a partner in any sort of close relationship like these gems had.
She continued to dance as slowing down or feeling bad would simply ruin the mood. She kept glancing at the two as they danced, still enjoying watching the pair. She hadn't even considered having a romantic relationship until she met them. She felt that at this point she had no hope at starting something like that. What good is it to be the queen of disco, when you have no King?
Flint smiled when Blue dragged him to the dance floor. Soon they both starting doing the bump. He had timed his pace to match Blue's. Each time movement made was matched by the other. Flint was having such a good time. Suddenly he began to heat up and his body started to give off tiny flickers of flame. "Oh Blue I hope this day never ends. I just want to stay here and dance with you!" He then pulled her in and kissed her. As they kissed his whole body combusted. Flint didn't even notice. He was just having such a fun time with his wife. It made him question where he'd be without her at his side. Everything he did was for her.

When Flint kissed Blue all time seemed to stop in her mind. She just wanted to stay there kissing him forever. Suddenly something started to feel warm. Flint must've ignited again. She never was bothered by it. It almost made her feel special because Flint only ignited involuntarily when he was with her. With anyone else he had full control. That showed her just how important she was to him. As they kissed, she wrapped her arms around him. She then had an idea. "I'm so glad you stayed here with me. Thank you for all you've done for me. You always were the perfect man for me. No other gem could replace you." She kept hugging him as they danced around the floor.
Obsidian's dance slowed and finally stopped. She felt uncomfortable dancing while those tho were in a relationship she had never experienced. She sat by the refreshments. As she drank a glass of water she watched the two of them dance and kiss. Was the quartz on fire? Obsidian wouldn't know, she had never been in a relationship like that. Maybe gems really did release flames when in love. All she could do was sigh, longingly at the couple. She couldn't distract herself with a romantic affair though. Her diamond still was disapproving it would take all of her strength to gain favor in White Diamond's eyes. No gem could make her as happy as her Diamond did. She couldn't go astray. She'd end up like one of the rebels.
