Name:
Chocolate Pearl, Facet-9T8K Cut-5WM
Appeared Gender:
Female
Gemstone:
Chocolate pearl
Gemstone Location:
On the back of her left hand, something Chocolate Pearl is rather insecure about
Faction:
Homeworld
Corrupted:
No
Appearance:
Chocolate Pearl was created and drawn by Green Calcite/Ruby Cut-6YK.
Personality:
Chocolate Pearl is a dour Gem. If she is ever seen optimistic, grinning, or just overall happy, it takes little effort to knock her back down into the dumps, her almost-permanent residence. If she were to daydream about herself walking outside to experience the nice weather of Earth it would quickly spiral into her being shattered by a homicidal Gem or some other unsightly scenario..
Chocolate Pearl has always been reserved and quiet, but less for a preference of solitude like an introvert and more for a crippling anxiety towards most social settings like a freak. It's not that she dislikes or doesn't want friendly connections, it's that the possibility of failure, embarrassment, or worse leaves her a stuttering, incoherent mess.
While Chocolate Pearl seems to suffer in silence, some of what she complains and rants about can, and should, seem like trivialities. This can make her exhibit some rather unbecoming, disrespectful, and all-around unusual traits for a Pearl. She's lazy to a fault, gets jealous at the drop of a hat, and can't seem to help herself to save her life.
Overall, Chocolate Pearl is a timid, clueless Gem that could really use a hug, really doesn't deserve one, and would probably die if she ever got one.
Likes:
+ Opulent human practices such as: 1. Eating
+ And 2. Sleeping
+ Radio Talk Shows
+ Literature
+ Rainy Weather
+ Snowy Weather
Dislikes:
- Sweets (despite enjoying eating)
- Crowds
- Sleeved Shirts
- Deadlines
- Dogs
Fears:
- Solitude
- Fraternization
- Abandonment
- Shattering/Combat In General
- Trying
Weapon:
Chocolate Pearl's signature weapon is a rather puny-looking projectile weapon, a sling. It is used to throw any blunt projectile such as a stone. Pretty standard stuff, nothing flashy to see here.
Ability 1:
Uncanny Resilience - While Chocolate Pearl's threshold for pain is considerably less than most Gems on the Earth, she is considerably durable. Regardless to how she reacts to the damage, it would take more effort than expected to seriously harm her. This ability just allows Chocolate Pearl to survive one blow that would usually poof her only once a thread.
Ability 2:
Featherfall - Chocolate Pearl has the ability to manipulate her weight, from her normal default weight to that of a feather. While there is no real practical use besides 'not dying from a large fall', Pearl has discovered she can fly quite far in an extreme 'weightless' state if hit with enough force.
Fusions:
None
History:
Chocolate Pearl emerged just a mere four-hundred years ago, fairly reminiscent of the mess of a Gem she still is today. While it is apparent that there is some sort of defect in the servant, it wasn't recognized til much after her conception. Looking the part of a standard Pearl, she was assigned to her new master.
What transpired next was a disheartening series of failures.
Sapphire, her first owner, was a blue blood aristocrat, a noblegem through and through. Sapphire, looking more for a friend than for a helper, had Pearl do little else but shadow her around, a glorified page. Working closely with Her Clarity, she was rendered inept at the slightest of social ques. After only a few years, it was clear she was due for a downgrade.
Her second position was one of many Pearls, meant to be a representative of Yellow Diamond, herself. Just stand in the courtroom and jump through whatever hoops anyone commanded her to. This, again, proved to complicated, ambitious, or whatever else for poor Pearl. After a much lengthier trial period, she was demoted again. Perhaps menial duty, custodial and errand jobs, would show some sort of potential.
It was, like the others, years of fiasco, each one biting and embarrassing, never leaving Chocolate Pearl's mind.
There were others, of course, on Chocolate Pearl's slow descent to the lowest of the low Loyal Gems. She was even passed around by a few prominent Quartz soldiers, she was devalued so much. While she had lost count, Pearl again reported in for reassignment as she was dumped by her owner. With no discernible talent to speak of, marketing herself out to a potential owner seemed impossible. She would wait for a much more important Gem to assign her.
Character Arcs:
Change of Hands - Chocolate Pearl is assigned a new owner and travels with them to Earth/is transported to Earth to meet them.
Entry-Level - Chocolate Pearl damages the relationship between herself and her new master by her ineptitude and sloth-ish behavior.
Damaged Goods - The relationship is strained enough to where Chocolate Pearl is abandoned yet again, potentially stranded on Earth.
Far Bigger Than Myself - Chocolate Pearl is forced to confront her many faults and ally herself with the only welcoming force of Gems she knows: the enemy, the Crystal Gems.
Trying Again - Now forced to totally expose herself to her newfound compatriots, both her faults and her charms, Chocolate Pearl's defenses erode over time. Depending on how uplifting the people around her are, she could become a completely different Gem than her usual unsure self.
