The entire time Morion spoke, Peridot had not shifted from where she was, as if her feet were glued to the ground. What she had concluded from listening to him was that it would be best if she never left the station and trained other technicians. She could almost laugh at the idea of her being a teacher. Her mentor would probably laugh it, too. Still, he had made the point clear as day how valuable she was to him and she wasn't about to place herself in unnecessary danger, at least not without first requesting whatever escorts Morion could assign to her. The Archangel satellites he spoke of were concerning and almost discomforting. A system capable of gem destabilization on a global scale was outright dangerous for any gem to be in control of. Especially a gem with a human crew.
After watching the various holograms and understanding what Morion had spoken of, she finally dropped her stance. Walking over to what she believed was a data terminal projecting these holograms, she pointed at it. "May I?" she asked simply, implying that she intended to access the system.
The assassin stepped away and let the Peridot work He was curious, turth to be told, and saw a great potential in this Gem But of course she not yet earned his trust
"...can I help you? I hope you understand, while it is a honor to have you, I can't give you full access to my base, not to mention tell you everything. The Rebels not only destroyed several Gem facilites, laboratories, the Communication Hub or the Galaxy Warp... their biggest crime was - not counting the killing of the "unborn Gems" who were destroyed or let to whither away in the crust, when they sabotaged the Kindergartens - the destruction the trust among the Gems. Since that awful day, we can't look each other without wondering "what if this Gem is a Rebel too...?" So forgive me Peridot, but in time you will have full access. I give you my word!"
Receiving permission to interact with the terminal, Peridot proceeded to do just that. She noticed that this particular terminal had a hand pad on it, designed to be operated by touch and thought. Her limb enhancers were designed to interface with modern gem technology and the ancient ship was bound to have issues like the one before her. Still, she knew what to do. Grabbing her gauntlet, an unlatching noise could be heard as it cracked open, allowing her to remove her hand. Holding her gauntlet to her side she flexed her hand and looked at the pad once more, only to hear Morion speak again. "I understand. This rebellion has created a surreal feeling of mistrust between gems... Insider threats are all too real now. My loyalty shall be proven. I just need to explain the logistical requirements of the projects we've discussed." she replied, bowing her head a bit. Turning to the terminal once more, she placed her hand on the device and her eyes seemed to light up as streams of data raced across them.
She could tell that there were data connections outside of the room she was in, but couldn't see past them. The ship had a security system that prevented her from accessing the entirety of it. She didn't mind and she wasn't about to override whatever authorization system they had in place. She just needed the terminal she was touching, nothing more. It soon became obvious that she had taken control of the hologram projector and lined up the several projects they had spoken of in some fashion or another. A Roaming Eye ship, the Archangel satellite, a giant shield emitter and a generic human scientist were displayed as floating holograms at the top of the room, which she would use as subject of discussion.
The Roaming Eye ship hologram zoomed to display before Morion, shortly before it turned into a schematic and highlighted the spatial condenser. A hologram of an ancient colony ship appeared next to this and the projections began to move as Peridot spoke. "The Roaming Eyes was engineered with the spatial condenser in mind, designed specifically to have a large enough interior for any tactical purpose imaginable for a ship of its size. It has a reinforced, hermetically sealed hull and works in direct relation with the ship's own warp drive to condense the space inside in a permanent manner. Because of this, a failure on the warp drive would cause the spatial condenser to fail and tear itself apart or explode in a violent manner. Thus why special consideration was given to heavily reinforcing the hull and a powerful inertial dampener was installed to prevent internal damages. Installing this system on the Derelict would require a spatial condenser designed specifically for the ship, a tier-five inertial dampener and technically a tier-one warp drive would work. That and the internal frame would have to be modified to accommodate the new interior. This would allow for the possibility of a complete redesign of the ship from the inside, which would be best done with a team of Bismuths while the ship is landed." she explained and the holograms before Morion faded away.
A hologram of the Archangel satellite appeared before him now and a modern gem destabilizing tool appeared as a schematic. "As for the Archangel network, shields on individual satellites would not be a great issue, it would just be a matter of producing and installing the parts. Assuming each of these satellites has a power source sufficient for the shield, I'd say that it would just be a matter of manufacturing and workload. Though the possibility of losing a ship to this task has security concerns written all over it. I'd recommend the production of cheaper, smaller ships capable of interplanetary travel to minimize that risk. Anti-gravity engines take some time to produce but one capable hefting only a small small crew and components up to the satellite should not be of major expense. If the Crystal Gems used whatever device they're using to shoot down spacecraft on these smaller ships, we might be able to identify the technique they're using and engineer a counter to that. The destabilization itself would be... tricky at best, impossible at worst. Earth has an ionosphere eighty kilometers above the surface that would disrupt such a system. Assuming the system would work you might have to fire the system every few hours, if it works anything like the destabilizers we use for personal defense. Such a tactic would work great with a shield that could defend against Archangel." she said as the images and schematics before Morion disappeared once more.
As she mentioned a shield to stop the destabilization, the schematic of the shield generator floated do to Morion. "Which, while we're on the subject, a shield generator to cover your domain, assuming a radius of twenty kilometers from M Tower would be a shield with a surface area of two-thousand-five-hundred-thirteen square meters, though we could reduce that number if we flatten the shield a bit... to defend against damages from a gem destabilizer or a Hand Warship... which would mean at least a twenty-billion joule repulse. That requires at minimum a twenty gigawatt power source, multiplied by the shield refresh... We would require a power source equivalent to a Hand Warship itself to become immune to a constant barrage from a single ship. There are two ways this could be accomplished... by either a capacitor capable of that power output for a short period of time or by a tier-five power source. One could be crafted with sufficient resources or simply requisitioned from the moon base, if we had contact with them. The rest is a matter of manufacturing and installing, as the schematics are fairly simple." she continued, thinking aloud for a portion of her talk.
The hologram of the shield generator schematics fizzled away and the final hologram, of a human wearing goggles and a labcoat, floated into view. As she spoke, schematics of almost every imaginable gem design floated around the room. "On to the project of training humans, I am most certainly able to share my knowledge with them. I'd hate to leave the current gem forces on Earth without a competent technician in my absence, but with this rebellion business and the previous projects aforementioned that situation may be unavoidable. Any technicians you wish for me to train can be assigned to me at your discretion and I will teach them. I cannot say with confidence this is a task I am best assigned to, as I'm... unacquainted with working with humans. Even so, I will put forth nothing short of my best effort into any of these projects, to include working with your human crew." she stated. Removing her hand from the pad, the holograms ceased entirely and she turned to face Morion. Sliding her hand back into her gauntlet, the limb enhancer latched onto her once more. She took a few steps to stand before Morion, before placing her hands behind her hips obediently. "I will begin at your behest." she added, standing ready for his next orders.
The Smoky Quartz listesned carefully It was clear, he made the right choice, this Peridot was indeed usefull, not to mention, even the fraction of her knowledge was more than Humanity achived in the past hundred year She was an expert! With her and Padparadascha's working for him, Morion was certain, his plans will succeeds Of course, the Artisan had her own plans, but as long as she designs that cloacking device and Gate, it isn't mattered Listening to the Peridot, one thing was sure
"If I undersands you correctly my dear Peridot, we will need a lot of energy. Not a problem."
He nodded " When I started my plans and projects... experiments, the first problem was the energy. Humanity is great and all, but they never mastered the art how to harness the energies of the cosmos. Just scratchning the surface with the renewable energy soruces, like solar or wind power... some of them had theories about the null point energy. After working together the human peridots, the scientist of them, we managed to build an energy converter, a "generator" using human and Gem technology. And captured Crystal Gems and Corrupted Gems as power source. It is not larger than a human chest... not heavy, and a clean source of energy. Not as efficient as our devices that uses Gems as powersources, but efficient enough to power Empire City and its deffense systems with one of these babies..."
The Smoky Quartz smiled
"Every Archangel satelite have one inside actually. Just tell me how many ganarators you need and we will build them for you. I have numerous Gems ready to "use". So Energy is not a problem. Resources? You name it, I will get it for you! Manpower, laboratory, peace and tranquility, assistants... The world is our oyster!
Peridot stood with a bit of pride before Morion. With his resources made available she'd be right at home with projects to focus on and machines to build. Not to mention the Padparadascha it seems they mutually knew. In her mind she was estimating the workload and material requirements of each of the projects they had just spoken of. She rapidly came to the conclusion that she'd get none of it done standing in front of Morion. "Once I've performed a thorough assessment of logistical and manufacturing needs I will inform you and begin each of these projects. Is there a workshop on board that I might be assigned to?" she asked, eager to begin her work. The night was ending, but her work was just starting. And she didn't sleep.
"Just give me a list... and I will give you everything you need"
Mentioning the resources, the Assassin came to the conclusion it would be a grave mistake to keep his connection to a certain Artisan a secret from his new Peridot
"Before I forget Peridot, before you arrived, I had another technician ally. Lets kell her an Ally. To be honest it is a more of a mutual "taking of advantage of the other" - kind of a relationship
"She is a Padparadascha. Master Artisan. And she was a Crystal Gem. Her allegiance is a bit murky. right now Not a hardcore loyalist, but the Crystal Gems sees her as an enemy. I think she is afraid to admit, she is on Our side. And by allying herself with me, she became a traitor of the Rebels' cause. The important is, she is working for me... but not loyal to me! Be careful if you happen to meet her. Eventually she will realizes, she "went too far" and there is and never was a way back to her funny little ideals. I will give you her signal-code, so you could call her, if you want. But never forget: she is NOT a Loyal. Yet. In time she will be. But at the moment, she is just a tool to achive our goals."
The mention of Para brought a moment of familiarity and she was happy to hear that that Morion had met her. Then she heard the rest of the story and was immediately disheartened to hear that she had possibly assisted a rebel. There was a quiet panic in her mind and she knew she'd have to, again, admit something unfortunate to him. "By your lead." Peridot replied and would follow Morion wherever he led her.
"I believe I have met the very same Padparadascha... I can't imagine there being many on the planet. She was at an archaic manufacturing site built millennia ago called The Forge. There I requested her assistance with getting some repair parts for the Communications Hub and... I noticed her manufacturing methods were antiquated so I... shared blueprints for modern molecular assemblers with her. Which is good so long as she's working for you!" she explained nervously, practically choking on the pain of her own words. She felt like she just helped commit a crime against him. It was at this moment she truly hoped that she was as valuable to him as he said she was, hopefully to avoid some scorn.
"Peridot, the Forge is an armory and her base. I think she made weapons and armors to the Crystal Gems here. My apprentice, a young Fire Opal recived a shield made there. But sadly I never could pinpoint the Forge exact location. I don't know where the Forge is, and my "dear friend and allies" refused to tell me its coordinates or lead me there.
The smoky quartz admited bitterly
"If you been there..."
He looked to the Peridot, expecting some coordinates ^^ And a detailed description of the place
"Don't worry, it is not a porblem, you helped her. As I said, she is not a Crystal Gem. But like I said, there are Crystal Gem cells still fighting this stupid war! And with the Forge "on their side", this conflict could mean the death and suffering of thousands... the loss of Gem lives!"
Moiron explained quietly
"I don't want to take the forge away from Padparadascha. Not while she is usefull... and not while the possibility is there to help turn her to our side. But when the time comes, I would like to be prepared to march my forces to the forge before the Crystal Gems could use it! I hope you understand. But to be honest the best would be to give the forge to You!
When Morion stopped to look at Peridot, she could see what he was after. Opening a screen she displayed a map of the Earth and highlighted the area of the Forge, clearly labeling it as such. She felt (and looked) tense and only closed the screen when they continued on walking. Hearing more of the Forge she was feeling increasingly worried over how much she had helped Para. If Morion had found a way to employ the artisan's skills the she could only hope that future dealings with Para were increasingly efficient. As she walked with Morion her eyes continued to wander, noting the layout of the ship and she began to wonder just how massive of a feat gutting the ship would be to make room for the spatial condenser. "The Forge has its uses, but really I don't see a need to evict anyone when modern manufacturing can be brought aboard." she commented.
"I must ask so I do not slip secrets... these humans on the Derelict... do they understand what will happen to Earth if this colony completes?" she asked with some hesitation.
"Well, like the Healing Fountain, I would rather see the Forge destroyed then let the Rebels have it. Giving them weapons or chance to build or use them would be a mistake."
Morion nodded The smiled to Peridot
"My dear Peridot, my Humans... our Humans are serving me, thus Homeworld out fotheir own free will. They are well aware what will happen, since I told them, what is the situation on Earth. The first of my Humans were not only criminals, but they were from the survivor type. And they were and are opportunistic. I promised them a chance to survive basically... to them and/or to their descendants. Not a big price for their loyality. It is funny tho'... their race will survive thanks to their race's most disdained and despised members."
The smoky Quartz loved the irony
"Well, this was the case, when I started to recruit Humans. you know, the Crystal Gems dragged Humanity in this war and never, ever told them. Or warned them what will happen. Nor giving them technology or anything to prepare to defend themself or their planet, or you know, a choice. The Crystal Gems and the Independents stayed away, kept their distance from Humanity. As for me? I have embraced them. I have told them everything and promsied them salvation. Not so long ago some Crystal Gems tried to sneak in the city... the humans basically captured them and almost shattered them. My Domain is protected by the Humans themselves! I have trained them how to fight, how to defend themselves against Gem Monsters and the Rebels and planted the hate in their heart. They hate the Crystal Gems! But they love us, me and my allies are their protectors! Their hope for survival! Their friends! In turn they pledged their loyalty to me. My web of influence is growing with every day and more and more human turns against the Crystal Gems!"
"Humanity started to gut their own planet long before the Rebellion started and doomed Earth, to the humans, the promise of a new world was enough. But they never forgot, the Crystal Gems are the ones to blame for this War. Not Homeworld! Hoeworld Gems been on Earth long before humanity even evolved, yet,we let them to live and Earth was full of life and resources. Now, thanks to the Rebels, the planet fate was sealed as they dragged them in to our wars.. Earth was infested by corrupted monsters. And the future of Humanity was to die with their world! All thanks to Rose Quartz and her band of rebels! I gave them hope and a future... in turn they gave me their loyalty. Fair trade if you asks me.
A growing sense of adoration for Morion appeared in Peridot's eyes as she followed him. Not limerence by any means, but rather out of respect for his cleverness. 'He's managed to turn the native species the rebels are fighting for against them. He has the humans here working to harvest their own planet to become a spacefaring race all on their own.' she thought, almost ready to laugh at the sheer brilliance of it all. She had some trouble keeping an eager grin from her face.
"How optimal." she commented. "I won't have to refrain from telling them their single planet will be their last. It's quite the wise route for their species to seek access to the the galaxy and joining the first dominant race they've encountered is just logical. They might not be that bad. If these humans have plans to become long-term residents on your ship then I should, err, consult them on their needs when the time for an interior redesign is necessary." she rambled on while they walked. Her gaze continued to look around the Derelict and wondered just how much of the hybrid technology could be upgraded or removed entirely. She concluded that all of it could.
"Gems are naturally adaptable race. We are conquerors. Instruments of War. This is why I forged aliances with my humans, and waging shadow wars and playing mind games with our enemies; not to mention working on the most pormising independent Gems, slowly luring them to our side.
Tho' I misscalculated a bit. I tought, the Crystal Gems were enamored with the Humans! After an encounter of a Crystal Gem hero, I tried to gather some Human. Bad humans. Why? Just immagine her or any Crystal Gem's face, when it tries to attack me and their precious humans are forming a human shield, and protect me with their lives! And even if they fight with these humans they will face the ugly thruth about Humanity! I tought it will spread the seeds of doubt about Rose Quartz! Every human is worth saving, worth fighting for? The fight with other Gems? Do they worth the risk of Shattering? If not, where is that fine blurry line? Who will decide?"
Morion shook his head
"But I said, I was wrong. The Crystal Gems are selfish rebels and never cared about the Planet or Humanity. But Already had these Humans as loyal allies, so... rolled with it, and expanded my criminal empire, inflitrated the goverment of this city, then after a time, me and my Gem firends became their real Guardians. And the rest is history. I have told them the Truth. And they accpeted it. "
The Smoky Quartz nodded
"Now, I have some things to do so I will let you work... oh, and welcome to your new home Peridot! As I said, you are free to come and go, and do basically anything. If you need some escort or have questions or need anything, just call me!"
Peridot simply nodded with Morion as he spoke of using the humans as a method of discouraging the Crystal Gems. She wondered what there was to gain by having humans loyal to him in the local government, but just assumed that it meant any conspicuous gem activity would be reported to him. Aside from that she thoroughly believed anything the humans had to offer could simply be taken. Still, his description of the humans she'd be working with, his crew, made her willing to approach the situation with an open mind. According to the schematics of the Derelict that she had seen earlier, she estimated they were now standing in the engineering bay. It was unlike anything she'd seen in any workshop or laboratory she'd been in before, but assumed that was due to the influence of human machinery. Mechanical arms, metal milling machines, microelectronics assembly benches, overhead equipment hoists and lockers of tools furnished the area. Gem technology was present as well, but only antiquated tools at best. It was a far cry from the modern workshop of the moon base, but to her it felt like home already.
After a moment of confidently looked around the room, she turned to Morion and snapped to the obedient stance she was in before, hands behind her hips and making eye contact with him. "I won't keep you. I'll begin my assigned projects immediately and will provide you an update on material requirements as soon as possible. If you have humans to assign to me they can report here. Thank you, Morion." she stated with professionalism, ending her statement with a diamond salute.

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
Orginal Opening Plot Here Thread That Changed Everything
Differances Between the Roleplay and the Show
*Thanks to Rose Quartz' message the Gems on Earth are entirely aware that the Homeworld Gems intend to wipe out the human race.
*The "corruption" is being treated like a virus due to lack of info about it on the show.
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
