Name: Disthene
Appeared Gender: Female
Appeared Age:late 20's, early 30's
Gemstone: Kyanite
Gemstone Location:Both heels, over her heart.
Faction: Homeworld
Corrupted: No, see Ability 1
(If Corrupted)Monster Form: If by chance she is dosed with a large amount of Corruption enough to overcome her Erosion ability, Disthene will become a bison-like spider creature with four arms expanding from the hump on her back, standing on four hooves. Her maw will open up lengthwise along the Buffalo's spine with the tail being its tongue. Due to her Erosion ability, she should return to her original shape in time.
Appearance: Disthene is a heavier built female with blue hair and quartz-like skin covered in blue circular markings. She wears bronze chain mail for the color more than protection. It's important to accent one's gem in an appropriate setting. She stands at 6' 9".

Voice: CLICK FOR VOICE DEMO
Personality: Disthene is a very single minded female, loyal to Homeworld. Charged with the task to get those who defend the Earth to see the folly of their actions through words, Disthene prefers speaking after others in a conversation, constantly plotting to use her charismatic stone qualities to her advantage.
In battle, Disthene will rarely take the offensive unless she is pushed into it. After all, if she must strike first, she's lost the argument. She takes pride in being the last to draw her 'sword' in any confrontation. Even tempered and stalwart, if you need someone to talk your enemy's ear off, then contact Disthene.
Likes: Good conversation, lively debates, quiet moments, and the approval of those she serves. Eating (DON'T TELL THE DIAMONDS).
Dislikes: Any display of disloyalty, those who sit on the fence, moral gray areas.
Will become disgusted with herself and fall into a quiet sulk if she finds herself in any of these positions.
Fears: Crystal conflicts aren't known to be solved by words. She fears becoming obsolete, and useless to her superiors as the conflicts mount in intensity. Encountering Corruption so absolute that even she falls under its sway.
Weapon: As shown above, Disthene's weapon is an umbrella, that she carries with her at all times. This innocuous item hides a blade out the tip, or can be used as a shield when fanned open. NJRK APPROVED EDIT: The pommel of her umbrella doubles as a magical microphone, with the dome of the umbrella acting as a speaker, allowing the Diplomatic Gem a slapdash PA system when needed. This is a non-combative ability.
Special Abilities
Ability 1: Corruption Erosion
A passive ability. Kyanite has, according to real-life daily crystal healing practitioners, abilities to purify other crystals. It brings balance to others nearby, and cleanses them of any inner negative energies. True to her history, Disthene has high level of immunity to Corruption. If she is infected, the Corruption will eventually wear away over the course of hours, days or weeks depending on the level of Corruption she is dosed with.
This ability also extends to purifying those around her. Corrupted Gems that remain longer than a day in Disthene's presence will find their powers slowly fading away. If they stay with her for a day, the Corrupted Gem becomes weaker, if for over a week, they can feel it disappearing from their system. After little over a month, they can be completely cleansed. However, they must remain in Disthene's presence for the majority of that time period. The Corrupted Gem has the option of leaving at any time. Disthene will not fight to keep them with her if they do not want to be restored.
THIS ABILITY DOES NOT HEAL WOUNDS OR CRACKED GEMSTONES.
Ability 2: Stumbling Block
Disthene erects a spherical shield around herself that can absorb 3 attacks. Once it has absorbed 3 attacks, it will rupture outwards in a shockwave that has the potential to knockback her opponents. Smaller opponents have a good chance of being knocked off their feet. This shockwave expands to 20 feet outwards around her, with the strongest force being in the first 10 feet.
Cooldown until she can make another shield is 3 turns.
Fusions: Disthene has not attempted Fusion with anyone. They would have to best her in a heated round of presidential-level debates, complete with a neutral party to judge the winner and a small audience before she would consider them worthy.
She has had an accidental, partial Fusion with Inquisitor O, that ended before they could fully form a new Gem.
History:
Disthene was created to be a charismatic Gem, with the intent to bring the Crystal Gems back under the control of Homeworld. Kyanite is known for its properties for public speaking, unification, and purity--the perfect stone for a Diplomat.
Cultivated for this specific purpose, Disthene was given the human's older, common name for her stone-- a reminder that she is always replaceable. Disthene reports to Blue Diamond's regiment, though she hungers to be ranked among those Elite that work for White Diamond. Disthene looks to Earth for a new challenge; feeling her talents have mostly been wasted to solve petty political squabbles. She simply awaits the opportunity to show her talent!
Character Arcs:
Disthene finds herself stranded on Earth, seeks out the nearest camp of Gems. Can be either Homeworld or Crystal Gems.
If Homeworld: She will regroup, and continue to consider how best to influence those they fight. Will then seek out a Crystal Gem Camp
Once in a Crystal Gem camp, will surrender or take Diplomatic immunity to talk their ears off about the benefits of Home.
There are two plot lines that can follow after that, depending on the interactions she faces. Does a superior Diplomat make her sympathize with the Crystal Gems, or does she use her newfound knowledge to betray those in the Crystal Gems? Does she end up being strapped to a cell as a mouthy carwash for their souls? WE SHALL FIND OUT.
Disthene has established an Embassy within the heart of Crystal Gem territory, Beach City, with the help of Carbide and Variscite.
