After months of traveling through space, a tiny homeworld escape pod entered Earth's atmosphere, quickly plummeting towards the ground. During the descent however, one of it's habitants had been ejected from the pod and sent hurtling off in a random direction. Once the pod had hit the ground, police were sent to investigate, only to be met with a very big, and very angry Bluegold, she looked like a sort of regular human who had been in the pod, of course, knowing humans they threatened to open fire if she didn't back off. She didn't and they emptied their guns on the gem, yet, it only made her mad. When they saw that she was still standing the police got in their cars and drove away as fast as possible, not wanting anything to do with the angered gem. After a while of walking, Bluegold came to The Kindergarden, where she believed her friend had been shot off to, and began searching.
Padparadscha materialized in a bloom of light upon the crystalline warp pad, her pearl in tow. She kept her diagnostic tools ready at hand as she made her careful descent along the narrow paths that lead into the Kindergarten. Though it was mid-day, an eerie gloom hung over the air of the place, sending chills along her nape. She couldn't help but to think back on her previous trips to the beta kindergarten for survey work, though this time her endeavor was to be more brief-- at least, she loathed to think it wouldn't be. Find evidence of an intruder in the Kindergarten. As always she'd been reluctant to bring a retinue for something that should be simple, but this time at least, she'd opted to bring her servant just in case. Two sets of eyes were always better than one.
"Keep a sharp eye, Pearl," The sapphire said quietly, her eyes flickering across the dark chasm that they entered, lined with the shells of Earth-gems. She wondered if there was a time when this place didn't feel so forlorn and forgotten, and tried to keep her mind off of the harrowing thoughts this place reminded her of. "We're not to engage. We just need some kind of clue-- then we can leave,"
"Yes, my sapphire," Pink Pearl whispered through her nerves, though she already knew well. The two pink-court gems moved carefully, the sound of their muted steps bounced from the cliffs rising around them. In the worst case scenario, they may be attacked by the intruder, but Padpara hoped to avoid confrontation altogether by keeping a low profile.
The large, Jasper-sized, quartz soldier looked around in the kindergarden, fear and worry for her friend begining to bubble up inside her. "What if a homeworld gem found her?" The gem asked herself quietly. She continued looking and soon let her worry get the best of her. "Oplaite!" The gem yelled out, calling for her friend, she didn't hear a response and began to worry more, she may have alerted something else of her presence, something that would make for an unpleasant encounter if it were to be hostile towards her. "Why'd you have to go and help those rebels? We could be living in luxury back on homeworld if you'd have followed the rules and reported those rebels." Bluegold said to herself, continuing to search around the abandoned gem growing facility.
The sapphire and her pearl both froze as an unfamiliar voice bellowed across the cavern. The two gems looked at one another, then the two of them began to frantically search for cover. There was no way of knowing who this was, but it seemed they were looking for someone else too. Did that mean there were two intruders to worry about?
"S-s-should we go, your clarity?" The pearl stuttered as the two pink gems raced to find cover behind a large boulder. Padpara grit her teeth. They hadn't captured documented, or any kind of evidence yet, they couldn't leave quite yet lest she allow herself to fail at this mission. But, if she could get a recording of this stranger, that would be enough-- then they could make a break for it. Her core pounded in her chest as she fumbled for her slate, and flipped open her video recorder. "Y-y-your clarity?!" Pink Pearl's voice was tinged with a bit of desperation.
"It's okay pearl, stay right here. I'm going to get some evidence," She gave a final nod to her loyal servant, then the small gem stepped out, keeping herself low, and approached the sound of the voice she'd heard. She went from cover to cover, and soon, her eyes widened when she caught sight of a tall, dark blue gem, who waltz through the Kindergarten as if she didn't know it was home to the corruption outbreak-- or if she did know, she was extremely confident. The thought made Padparadscha a bit queasy-- if this gem could simply walk around without fear here, what kind of power did she command? Regardless, she peaked her little recorder out from the side of the rock, and tried to capture some video feed of the intruding gem.
"Where could she be?" The tall gem looked around for her lost friend frantically. "Why, Opalite? WHY!?" She shouted. "WE COULD HAVE BEEN SAFE IF... you didn't help them." Her tone lowering as she finishes her sentence and just drops to her knees. "Now I may never get to see you again, and it's because I didn't keep a better eye on you." The large gem sounded distressed and saddened, she just continued to sit there and stare at the ground. Then faintly as if on cue, a voice shouted in the distance. "Blue? Is that you?" The voice sounded like a whisper to the large gem, but she heard it. "Opalite?" The large gem jumped up and looked around for the source of the voice. "Where are you?" Bluegold called out to the other.
Her hands shook as she watched the video feed on her holoscreen. There were two intruders, and both of them were shouting across the kindergarten as if they had no fear of being attacked by the corruptions that lurked here. Perhaps these two gems were from off world? The sapphire began to fear for her own safety and that of her pearl-- if they were caught in the crossfire, this mission would be a whole lot more demanding than Padpara had hoped it would've been. She kept her tape rolling however-- if she could get evidence of both intruders directly, that would give her a bit more pop in her step when she finally turned this mission over. Still, the danger factor continued to rise as these two gems seemed to have their reunion.
In a moment, the sapphire's foot slipped over some gravel and her recorder tapped against the stone, she clenched her teeth as the sound of her fumble echoed off of the walls of the cavern. She hoped those gems were too caught up with each other to notice, and peered over to see her pearl sitting a ways off, staring back at her, wide-eyed.
Opalite finally ran up and hugged the larger gem. "I was so worried about you." The larger gem said and hugged the smaller one tightly. "Thank you for finding me." Opalite said. A noise behind the two of them made them freeze. The let go of each other and turned in the direction of the sound. Bluegold reached for the gem on her forehead and pulled a long katana like sword out. "Who's out there?" Bluegold asked demandingly, not wanting to take any chances with whatever may be spying on them. "Show yourself." Bluegold says as the smaller gem next to her summons her weapon as well. After waiting, Bluegold began to approach the large rock that seemed to let off the sound.
Great! By the Diamonds! Why do I do this to myself! Padparadscha grit her teeth as she thought to herself, trying to think of a way to get out of this mess as soon as she heard the gem's voice. Her heavy footsteps came closer and closer, and the tension in the sapphire's shoulders grew. She pursed her lips and shut off her documentation, before putting away her slate. There was no way to escape from these two gems now, if she tried to make a run for it she'd be admitting some kind of guilt, at the very least. She swallowed, and stood up, ready to take a very large risk. From afar, her pearl watched, aghast as the sapphire prepared to confront the two gems.
"G-greetings," She stated in her best, decorous tone. She had no idea where these gems were from, so stopped herself from throwing up a Diamond salute as would've been her habit to do so,"I'm Padparadscha 10C8A 8QE, affiliate-- ah, sapphire." She hoped that these gems would have some kind of sense for propriety, and in that case, may treat her decently being that she was an aristocrat. But she didn't count on it. "What of yourselves? It's...well it's odd to find gems here these days..." She glanced around, making sure that there was nothing sneaking up on them.
Their weapons fizzled and disappeared from sight. They looked at each other then back at the sapphire. "I never understood Homeworld's constant need to use numbers." Bluegold said and pressed a hand against her forehead. "You got something we can call you?" The larger gem asked and looked down at the Sapphire. Opalite stood behind Bluegold, she seemed more skidish than the gem she was with. "Is anyone else with you?" Bluegold questioned further. Before any answer can be given, a loud, earspliting shriek can be heard, traveling through the canyon. "What. Was. That?" Bluegold asked and looked around to try and find it's source. "How welcoming is this planet?" Opalite asked and searched with her companion, shaking, obviously terrified.
The sapphire could have leaped for joy when the unknown gems dematerialized their weapons, but kept herself contained. Both of them seemed to be out of sorts, she realized, and determined that they would have to be handled delicately. "Ah, well..." She wasn't sure what to say. Most of those of lower rank than herself simply referred to her as my sapphire or your clarity or something along those lines, but these gems seemed to want to use more familiar terms. Though she'd already had her suspicions about them, she wondered if this pair of gems were runaways. They were in the Kindergarten unauthorized, after all.
"You may call me whatever you like," She decided to play it safe, and turned to nod toward her pearl. Just before she could open her mouth and reveal the presence of her pearl, that horrible sound split across the canyon, reverberating from the sheer cliffs. The sapphires eyes doubled in size as she realized that it was too late-- they'd already lured, and agitated, a corruption. She stood, frozen with fear, and found herself somewhat glad that she was in the presence of a warrior gem and her companion. Her eyes slid to her pearl, who shot up from where she stood and scurried over to Padparadscha's side.
"The short answer, comrade, is that it's not," Padparadscha managed through her paralysis. "This kindergarten...this planet...has a dark history. It's best if we leave, quickly."
"I don't think that's an option any more." The large gem said and pointed at the shadowy figures of corrupted gems coming their way, then looked back at the warp pad to see some of the creatures crawling over it. "I can barely get us through, I can't take them all." The larger gem said and summoned her weapon once more, her companion, even though she looked as though she was gonna poof from sheer fright, summoned her's as well. "Stick close." Blue gold said and began slowly towards the nearest corrupted gem which she took a swing at and poofed it after making contact with her blade. "How weak do these things get?" The large gem asked as she fought with another one, poofing it after a few swings.
Her head swiveled in the direction the blue goldstone pointed, and she clenched her teeth. At the blue gem's words, Pink Pearl needed no convincing, and ran in to the center of the group-- she was similarly terrified as Opalite was. The goldstone quickly put down the corruption, and Padpara felt a little better-- but the creatures were swarming all around them. They may have been weak individually, but the swarm would over take them quickly if they didn't act in haste. She flung out her wrists and pink light wrapped into her grip, taking the shape of her katar. She didn't know if she could trust these gems yet, she had barely any time to read them before, so she felt reluctant to reveal her abilities in front of them. Unfortunately for her operation, her abilities were well suited to this kind of thing.
"I can't do this for very long, but it will buy us some time," She said as she generated a mass of boiling hot plasma, and as the gems bunched in close around Blue, she drew it up to push some of the scurrying corruptions away from the group-- however, others began to slither around or leap past the wall, "Any good plans? Should we make a break for it?" She asked through her teeth, trying to maintain focus. Pink Pearl yelped and punted one away from herself.
The large gem growled at the corrupted ones and continued swinging her sword. "Is that plasma?" Opalite asked as an idea formed in her head. "You figure that out I can take some of them down." The large gem said and quickly curled into a ball, spinning quickly and looking like a car wheel that was continuously driving around the group, hitting corrupted gems and poofing them, all the while swords kept being summoned from her gem to turn her into a spiked wheel, doing extra damage to the gems and environment around her. "I need to know, now." Opalite said, worried about her friend who was holding the corrupted gems off temporarily. Finally a bigger corruption hit Bluegold and knocked her off her path, causing her to loose her momentum and slide back to the group of gems.
Padpara gave a terse nod to Opalite, despite the fact that she'd been reluctant to share the extent of her abilities with them,"Yes, elemental plasma," tension rose in her shoulders as she maintained her barrier, and she bit her cheek as she tried to back up the warrior circling the group before they were knocked back. She hoped to the stars and back that this gem had something in mind that could help them, because she was quickly running out of the energy needed to maintain this rather heavy barrier as it lit up the surrounding area. Pink Pearl paced in panic as she tried to think of her own plans, but it was not coming forth for the poor pink gem. The sapphire turned her focus on the larger corruption-- it had enough punch behind it to knock a gem like this blue goldstone straight out of a spin-dash, that was enough to cause her to falter, if only slightly.
Though it only took a small faltering for her barrier to wane, and for more of the creatures to pour around her construct. Her eyebrows went up. She really had to start thinking about employing a full time retinue. Most sapphires would never get their hands so terribly mucked up in something like this, yet here she was, trapped alongside gems she knew nothing about, surrounded by corruptions.
Opalite grinned, no fear in her eyes as she raised her hands to the field, like a Lapis, readying her water abilities. She made a few quick hand movements and soon the shield turned into many spikes which floated for a second before flying off in what seemed like random directions, but with closer examination, attacking the largest and strongest corruptions, soon working their way down to the smaller ones. "Good thinking, Opalite." Bluegold said and watched her companion used her energy manipulation to the whole groups advantage, after a few minutes only a few corrupted gems stood, which Bluegold finished off easily, leaving a heap of unmoving gemstones. Bluegold smiled at her companion who ran and hugged her. "That was amazing!" Bluegold exclaimed as she swung her friend around a few times before setting her back down. "Stop, you're too much!" The happy Opalite said.
