A strange ship appeared out of nowhere. It was gem in origin, but it was quite different from ones, that were guarding the moon. It was small, probably just for several passengers, and also very agile. It quickly slipped pass the patrolling ships and disappeared in the Earth's atmosphere. Once it left the upper layers it vanished...
From the space, where a ship was just a moment ago a gem appeared, flying on wings of white energy. He slowly descended to lovely looking meadow with red flowers growing all around. Four of his finger formed screen. He started to analyse the area and a ton of information appeared on his screen - from composition of the air, humidity, the PH level of the ground. He was looking to the screen, not really paying attention to his environment. He had all information he needed on his screen.
Seemed like this planet supported carbon based life forms, he also detected billions of life forms from orbit. But the important part was, that he detected Pink Diamond on this planet's moon. It could only mean, that this planet was destined to become a hollow shell. Unless someone could stop that...

Pink Wandered the meadow aimlessly. Earth seemed to have many meadows, and the warp pad had taken her from one to yet another. At this point, she was tempted to return to beach city, or to Empire City...
Eh. Maybe not Empire City.
Suddenly, in the corner of her eye, she noticed something afar, a flight-capable gem? Who would be here, other than to be wandering the meadow with no actual idea of what they were attempting to accomplish? She quickly ducked between a stray bush and rock, located only a few dozen feet from the gem in question.
Thank the stars that she hadn't encountered the gem directly, unlike her last encounters with... Other gems. Pink quickly popped her head above the rock, watching the gem in curiosity, unaware that her curl was sticking out, like what humans called a 'sore thumb.'
From the details she could make out, the gem was well, blue. But it looked weird? Pink couldn't tell if it was under blue diamonds court, or maybe a rebel, but, it seemed to be interested in it's screen, like a peridot, or a zircon.
Starlite was scanning the are for a while, before he started to speak with his screen.
"This planet appears quite primitive. The reading of air suggested a society built on burning the fossil fuels. Given the satellites on planet's orbit they possess rudimentary space travel capabilities. Life on this planet is carbon based, organic. Also, there appears to be a gem watching me for some reason. She doesn't seem hostile, otherwise she would attack me already."
The screen blank few times, notifying him, that the voice recording was saved. Without even turning his head he continued.
"Further study is needed to learn more. So far this planet seems calm, no traces of open conflict. If there is something going on it didn't escalated yet."

Pink just stared at the gem, almost offended at the fact the gem had seen her, even with her amazing hiding skills, which honestly, weren't that great. She watched the gem just completely ignore her, something about 'Further study' and some planetary studies. Welp, at least it was confirmed that this gem wasn't hostile.
Pink left her hiding spot cautiously, walking toward the gem fairly slowly. She could at least say hello, or maybe find out why they were here in the first place.
She stopped a fair distance away, unsure if she should continue, as her mind raced with curiosity. Who was this gem? Would they attack if she dared to get closer? Should she be afraid? Would they be like... Hopefully not.
"U-um... Hi..." She muttered, barely waving. She smiled slightly, but it was a confused smile, as in she didn't know what to think of this gem... Or, gems? His physical form was wearing different designs, suggesting a fusion? But where was his second gem?
Starlite touched the screen, it wasn't exactly obvious what he was doing. The screen then vanished and his fingers returned to their place. When this was done, he finally turned to the approaching gem. From the first look it was some kind of Pink Sapphire. He met only one and that was millennia ago.
It was strange. He wasn't exactly speaking with other gems for years. But that will have to chance right now. There were hundreds of gem on this planet, at least... how it went? He should probably introduced himself at first?
"I am Starlite, Zircon, the First one."
It was pretty safe to introduce himself, it was several millennia since his attempt at revolution, the entirety of Gem Empire forgot he ever existed... and he was considered dead... also he wasn't a fusion last time...
Post by Pink Sapphire on Aug 15, 2017 13:36:46 GMT
A Zircon? That's.. Interesting, though the first kind of his gem type? That couldn't be possible, Pink thought every gem had been created so many times, a first gem would be out of the question.
Though again, He looked like a fusion, so maybe in a way, he was the first one? Pink was still oblivious.
"Oh, I'm Pink, Sapphire..." Pink spoke a little louder this time, gaining a little more confidence. She was slightly worried though, was this a rebel, or Homeworld gem? If he was a rebel, was he afraid of homeworld gems? Would he attack her if he found out she was a Homeworld gem?
"What brings you to this planet...?" She asked hesitantly.
She probably shouldn't assume anything, Maybe Starlite didn't even know about the rebellion, and was just a lost gem...
Zircon was the one, who hated the Empire with every single piece of his being. He didn't feel like he shout hide this hatred, but Aquamarine was tempering him a little.
"A Pink Sapphire... interesting. May I assume you are part of Pink Diamond's court? Is this planet one of hers?"
He asked. This Pink Sapphire could be a source of very interesting information about not only this planet, but also about current state of the Gem Empire. All the information he had so far was what he was able to scan from orbit and right now...
"What bring me to this planet? New opportunities... for research..."
He wasn't lying... technically. The fact, that those opportunities for research were in fact opportunities for research ways to defeat the Gem Empire was just a slight oversight. Minor details. He did smiled at Pink Sapphire. He did notice the slight hesitation in her question.
"Why do I have the feeling you want to ask me something else? Feel free to ask what you want. I am too old to be insulted by a question..."
"Oh, I guess I am, sort of..." Pink replied to his question. She didn't really know if she truly was meant to be Pink Diamonds at this point, So many things had thrown her off course.
"As for the planet, I believe you are correct, though I'm not that into the loop of the current situation between Homeworld, and the... rebellion." Her words falling into a mumble, worried if she stated too much information, she may fall to trouble. Plus, the only involvement she had been in recently was with Homeworld gems, and some.. rogue ones?
Don't get her wrong, she knew a decent amount to explain the situation, but much more then that, she would have to find that information.
Before she could think of anything else to add, Starlite wondered if Pink wanted to ask a question herself, which caught her off guard.
"O-oh okay, um... Are you a fusion? A-and are you, a Homeworld gem, or... Rebel?" Pink's last question was hesitant, as well, she needed to be careful how she worded her questions, encase this gem had more motive.
Though, judging from his previous responses, he didn't seem to have any.
And old? How old was this gem exactly, considering the fact that he was calling himself old!?
Unfortunate, it seemed that this Sapphire had limited knowledge about the current situation on this planet. Or perhaps she knew but didn't tell. He couldn't blame her...
When she asked her question Starlite just had to laugh.
"You're a sharp one, aren't you? Yes, I'm indeed a fusion, it's impressive you managed to spot it so quickly. And I am no longer a Homeworld gem... and I am no longer a rebel."
He said honestly. He once used to be a loyalist... and he once used to be a rebel. The rebel actually. That was millennia ago. Since then he was fighting Homeworld in some ways, but he did it openly. He didn't rebel, he declared war on Homeworld. It wasn't important that he was just 2 gems...
Pink shifted as Starlite laughed, slightly confused. She couldn't pinpoint what exactly was so funny, but she assumed maybe since this gem considered himself old, he found everything funny.
Though, she was thrown off as the gem stated they were neither a Homeworld Gem, or Rebel. Pink had thought that rebels were against the diamonds ways, thus anyone whom did not follow the diamond authority, were considered rebels.
Maybe this gem was in a different faction, other then the rebellion, or Homeworld?
"So... If you're not a Home world gem, nor a rebel, what are you?" She asked, still rather nervous. She hoped she wasn't bothering the gem with her silly questions, but with each response, Pink was getting more curious.
Starlite had perverse pleasure from making this gem confused. Yes, she was smart no doubt, but seemed inexperienced. It would be interesting to see, if she was able to think for herself or if she was just too deeply filled with Diamond propaganda.
"I certainly know what I am... but you seem like a brilliant young mind, so tell me who I am. I will give you a hint..."
He wasn't bothered at all. In fact he was enjoying this dialogue greatly.
"I was created millennia ago... I was the very first Zircon ever created, I created a lot of gem technology, that is used to this day. For thousands of years I was loyal to my Diamond, I was doing all her bidding as proper gem should. So who was I?"
He tell her the first part of her story. He quickly continued.
"I saw weapons I created used to wipe out millions of innocent beings who's only crime was, that they were on the wrong planet at the wrong time... so I tried to stop the warmongering of Diamonds. I let others who thought similarly into open rebellion... who was I?"
He continued before Pink Sapphire could answer.
"I was betrayed, defeated... my base was targeted by a weapon that destroyed large chunk of the planet. It killed my rebellion and it shattered all gems, loyal and rebels alike. Those who fought them and those who served them loyally their entire existence... all but two gems..."
Post by Pink Sapphire on Aug 19, 2017 21:45:04 GMT
Pink took that as a challenge, a trial. She narrowed her eye as she listened carefully. Though as she listened, part of her wasn't sure how true this story was, the diamonds wiping out millions, killing their own, loyal gems? They wouldn't do that, would they..?
She had to trust that this gem wouldn't lead her astray. She began analyzing each part of the fusion's story, Pink was determined to figure out what who he was, she was a sapphire for crying out loud, this should be simply solved!
She started to ponder more heavily. He was the first Zircon ever created, and served his diamond. But then, he created weapons, that were used to kill millions of innocent beings, and began to lead a rebellion against it...?
Betrayed, defeated... These key words...
Pink looked up to the gems face, whom's eyes were covered by several visors, her mouth hanging partially open for a moment as she attempted to connect it together, to respond.
He was a fusion... These were two stories connected together, these were their stories!
"...You're a fusion. But separated..." Pink paused, gathering her thoughts. "You were both betrayed, or defeated, by the diamonds... Your fused, over a common tragedy..!" Pink stated, hitting her fist into her palm. She had to be correct! It made perfect sense...!
But at the same time... Pink felt sort of, bad? It killed both loyalists and rebels alike... And only these two gems remained?
She felt really sorry for both gems... But was it actually true?
For a moment Starlite was looking sad. But only for a moment. Then he just had to smile. He was right, this gem was indeed quite smart.
"You are a sharp one, aren't you. I suspected as much, Sapphires should be quite clever, shouldn't they? You certainly are. You are correct. In a way. Everything you said is the truth. So what is that making me? A Starlite... nothing more, nothing less. I no longer need to express who I am by labelling myself as "rebel" or "loyalist" or anything else. I am simply being myself... which is more, then most gem could say about themselves. Sad thing is, that it took me ages to learn that... "
He explained. It was sad, but most gem weren't themselves, they were what Diamonds programmed them to be.
"There were times when I was proud to say - Her Majesty the White Diamond's chief scientist, or her elite agent... but then I realised it was only a fancy name for a useful tool... tool that would be discarded once it would no longer be useful. I resented that... I rebelled, because I felt I should to it... I was a leader because others expected me to be... and I went against the rebels, as was expected from me... until the weapon was detonated... then only we survived... a rebel leader and a special agent..."
It was such a long time ago, there was no reason to dwell on it anymore, but this young and clever gem could learn from Zircon's and Aquamarine's mistakes...
This was mildly upsetting, at this point. Pink was stuck on the fact that the diamonds would destroy a planet, just because of a rebellion that could easily be ended without casualties, on both sides. Here she was, faced with the diamond's result of killing so many. A gem on neither side, and as she was watching the gem's expression, she saw a sadness, but it dispersed without a trace as it switched to a smile.
"Just to be yourself...?" Pink muttered as she listened to the gem, was that truly freedom, compared to what the gems of this planet fought for? Was everything that the rebellion worked for, a false sense of freedom? And did homeworld have any freedom, at all?
Or was it just a control freak's fantasy?
Pink continued to listen to the gem in both curiosity, and interest. He was different, then gems normally were. "So what your saying is, a rebellion against Homeworld, will end in slaughter for both sides?" She asked. Maybe it wasn't the correct way of asking what she wanted to ask, but it had enough to be a general question.
"Also, how old are you?!" She asked, suddenly realizing that this fusion, may be incredibly, old.
"Yes, just be yourself. Not what you were made for, not what you are good at, but what you feel like doing. The simplest thing... yet incredibly difficult for those, who were created to do a very specific task."
His hand suddenly started beeping. His fingers once more shaped into a screen, he looked at it for an instant. Then the fingers flew back to his weird detached hand.
"I apologise, just got certain results..."
"Perhaps... most likely. If Diamonds really want this planet, for certain resources, they will land their units and it comes to terrible slaughter. If they want this rebellion crushed they might glass the entire planet from orbit. Or deploy some other weapon. They shatter everyone. After all how they should know who is loyalist and who is rebel? They can't allow rebels to spread through their empire, that could lead to new rebellions all across the galaxy. It's easier to wipe everyone and whip up new gems later... "
It was easier and safer for the Empire.
"Though some rare gems might be extracted first, those who are too expensive or too experienced or both. Rest of them? Acceptable losses..."
He said. Though it was not always like that. Aquamarine was experience and rare gem, an elite commando, yet left to die...
"How old am I? That's hard to say... in this form it would be just about a thousand years... aquamarine would be several hundreds years older.... and Zircon? Hard to say... back then the time was measured differently... after first 10 thousand years time get's irrelevant... "
Melody: as usual, just waiting for posts
