Though it was miles from the main city, it wasn’t so far that this area couldn’t be considered a part of it, despite being rather suburban looking, its appearance still held the signs of urban construction and seemed to only show that eventually this whole area would become their great ‘metropolis,’ in the future. This small area had something akin to a shore, not necessarily a beach but a rocky shore-side to be certain. There were seagulls perched on scattered stones, watching nearby pedestrians occasionally traverse the overlooking waterfront. But when one suddenly threw its head back, squawked nervously and took to the air. It was long before the others were scattering as well and something seemed to be crawling from the ocean.
Or dragging itself out of it one should say.
A strange alien humanoid, a gem, crawled out of the shoreline, her white-hair was charred, uneven and parted wildly, battle evidence of her conflict with Padpara. Her face showed a certain exhaustion though underlying relief, she had struggled to pull herself out of the water enough so that her upper body leaned somewhat away from the climbing tide and collapsed, her face cuddled by stone. She actually ended up reforming much deeper in the water, she learned the hardway that water and gems isn’t necessarily an advantage.
It was a difficult thing to navigate when you are a creature that doesn’t quite understand it. .
With tired eyes, her vision grew darker, was she losing consciousness?
“We were designed for combat, war gems-at our hearts, killers.”
“You’re just one size too small for the warzone, all three of you. Maybe you can be relocated- or better yet …
Maybe you need to be recycled.”
Something moved across her vision, hidden within the darkness of her subconscious, a black seething flame spreading towards her slowly.
“Facet … Your sacrifice will please our esteemed Diamonds.”
She woke up startled from her sleep as what seemed like black flames were consuming her, and stared about, surprisingly, in this small ditch she had climbed from, the gem had passed out from mid-noon to almost twilight. Her careful eyes peered around, half expected to be attacked by something but it didn’t happen. She was alone, just the crying of night-crows and cars in the distance around her.
