It must have been very clear for the human female to tell that she was the razor-sharp Quartz’ target, slicing a precise groove through the cracked concrete as they prepared to collide with the makeshift barricade until the gun was once again levelled at them. Even in their formidable rage, 7XB was not suicidal, and while they could have likely sliced a bullet in two at their current velocity, it was an unnecessary risk to take when there were other ways to achieve the same effect. They veered to the right, more in line now with the barricade of police cars at an angle; Systematically, they carved their way through the crescent of vehicles, slicing through both the body and the solid engine-block of each on in a flash of sparks and molten metal.
In mere moments the offending human would find themselves faced with a rather steamy quartz, the front half of her weapon, just a hairs breadth away from her tightly-clenched fingers, sliced away with near-surgical precision; Their flawlessly sharp hard light blades outshined even the moon in this moment, retreating back into their gauntlets. Their Homeworld uniform had reemerged from beneath their disguise, as well.
Before the sapphire had even gotten within range of the enemy, the police cruiser blockade had been eviscerated, sirens popping and wailing to an end as 7XB cut back around and went for the human officer that had initially been after them. The sapphire slowed to a halt and tried to keep track of what was happening, readying herself to become useful, though she wondered if she truly could be in her state. There were too many unknown variables in this situation, and found her frustration with her inability to cope with these high pressure events rising. She stared at the boiling form of the quartz for a second, her eyes drawn to the blades on their gauntlets before they disappeared.
Amethyst gaped, in mere moments the clear quartz had crushed enemy morale and any semblance of control over the situation that the humans may have thought they had. The soldier sensed from the sapphire's hesitation that she might be reconsidering, or at least thinking through this action a little more. Before 6UE could get too relieved, the sapphire changed course herself, heading toward the blockade that had been ruined.
Meanwhile, the human force had been scattered as they took cover in various crevasses of the street. Some officers were now taking aim, while others were on radios. Over head, emerging from the distant sound of popping fireworks, was the thumping of helicopter blades against the air. The officer whose gun had been sliced into pieces shook as she looked down at the halved weapon, and peered at the massive gem alien, paralyzed as she waited for back up from her allies.
In a splatter of ice and water, the bright pink space cruiser burst out of the bay, and rose like a submarine along the surface until it had glided up to the extraction point. Padparadscha took note of it but didn't deviate from the task she'd given herself; a handful of humans remained with their weapons aimed for the gems, so the sapphire began to create cover for them to retreat under, dragging out a sheet of light as tall as she was. Amethyst found it hard to be near the heat, and kept her eyes flicking from the humans, Padpara, 7XB, and the ship.
The suddenness of the ship breaking the surface of the frigid bay as it rose caused countless droplets of ice water to splatter upon 7XB’s skin, steaming away almost the very moment they made contact; The Quartz gem was unperturbed by this change, though they were relieved to note that their transportation had finally arrived..though the humans seemed to have something incoming as well, so, even though they would rather continue teaching this earthlings a lesson, the time had come to be gone- especially with the weapons still trained upon them.
They spared the human female a final, withering scowl before they themselves withdrew behind Padparadscha's plasma construct, the forthcoming wince almost invisible behind their hardened expression. “It's time to go,” they stated sternly, cutting their gaze first across the ragtag band of humans hidden amongst the smoldering wreckage like rats, then to the sparkling pink transport, still glistening with moisture.
The sapphire watched as 7XB joined the group again, lost for words. But, she determined that no words were currently necessary. She gave them a single, solemn nod, trying not to let her eyes trail back to the bullet hole left in her quartz comrade. Mind still lagging, Padparadscha's high strung thoughts continued to whirl.
After that brief moment of hesitation, she turned, and ran for the ship, dragging the plasma with her. Bullets began to pop off and fly into the molten shield, evaporating into toxic fumes as they went.
6UE kept herself some distance from the plasma her employer had summoned, but hunkered down enough to stay under cover. The thought of being able to get out of here had her itching to make a mad dash for the ship, who was now deploying its ramp. The plastic tub in her possession was still in tact, and she hoped this debacle had been worth it.
As Padpara stepped back onto the pier, her construct seeped to connect with the ground, and she made it just a bit taller before letting it sit to solidify, to cover their retreat. Then, without looking back, she rushed into the vessel, whose hull sparked as lead skipped off of it, followed closely by Amethyst.
That gaping, lumenescent hole that had burrowed right through the Quartz gem middle remained, though it was covered by their hand during the short trek back to the cruiser, though with the pain that they were in it might as well have been a mile away with the pain each step caused the impassive gem. Though they had been all but neutralized as a threat, the sound of the metal bullets thumping against the blazing hot barrier caused their muscles to coil, even as they turned their back, and 7XB did not even allow themselves to relax as they boarded the ship, nor even as the hatch slides shut behind them once each and everyone one was aboard, causing the projectiles to ricochet harmlessly off of the vessel’s hull.
It was only as they made that final, lurching jump into the outer atmosphere of the planet that they allowed themselves to show any semblance of emotion, their already formidable unease with flying compounded by the pain of their wound.
When everyone had safely boarded the ship, Padparadscha's emotions culminated, finding a direction in thought. She paced around the small, elegant chair in the center of the command bridge, spending her excess nervous energy while her feet pit and pat against the metal. Pink Pearl guided the ship, setting in its coordinates for the moon in silence.
Her eyes snapped onto 6UE as her pace slowed, her glare sharpened,"So much for keeping a low profile. You have some explaining to do," She took on a hard tone, and slowed to a stop,"I wont jump to any conclusions until the debrief, for the results of this excursion or otherwise," As her patron spoke, the bodyguard withdrew, pulling her arms close to her body, eyes flicking away as she contemplated what would be done with her if the sapphire and the yellow court quartz decided she wasn't up to standard. The purple gem had a hard time even thinking of the words to describe the confusing odyssey she'd been through. But, at least she'd made it back to the ship.
"--and you," The sapphire cut her eyes over to 7XB, and pressed her lips together. The difficulty of putting what she wanted to say into words increased tenfold; not only were there other gems around, but Padparadscha didn't fully understand the origins of her irritation quite yet. Getting to the core of it was difficult after enduring the shock of those chaotic moments,"We're going to have our own discussion." After a moment, her gaze softened. She realized it became more and more burdensome for them to keep up the facade that they were fine; she wondered who exactly it was meant for-- the other gems, or for her too? She wouldn't be fooled. "But before anything else-- my medical retinue is on standby, they'll come straight to us," Her stern tone implied there were no ifs, ands, or buts, though it was easy to imagine they wouldn't want to go off anywhere in a hurry after being shot. The words were also her attempt at assurance; they wouldn't have to quietly endure without help for much longer.
Her hands clasped behind her back, and she took a step closer to the clear quartz. Her eyes flicked to their hand. Instead of reaching for them as she felt the urge to, she stayed where she was, and glanced to the windshield, anxiously watching the moon grow across the view.
Their arrival at the moon base, forthcoming as it was, could not possibly come soon enough for the clear quartz gem- The effort it was taking to suppress the spasms of pain that radiated outwards from their wound was quickly causing the burly gem’s muscles to feel the burn of fatigue; The frantic, pitter patter of the miniscule Sapphire's feet across the bridge did not help their nerves very much much either, and they were actually almost relieved as she snapped on 6UE, and rightly so. What had the Amethyst been doing to draw the attention of the human authorities?
Whatever it was, 7XB had an inkling that it had something to do with that container of powder that she had refused to leave behind and cradled so close.
As the little gem rounded on them, however, and subsequently softened, they gave a nod of their head. They knew already what Padparadscha was thinking, at least as much as she did herself, but they were relieved as he allowed them their pride and didn't attempt to coddle them in the presence of Amethyst and, more importantly, kept up appearances as well. “As you say, Your Clarity.” Arms came across their chest in respectful salute, despite their wounds. They knew it would do no good to argue with her has they even wanted too.
Pink Pearl's hand moved across the control panel to alert those on standby to the incoming ship. The cruiser glided through the dark empty space between Earth and the moon until the space station opened up into view. As per usual things were busy at the docking platform while Homeworlders moved between their various preparations and tasks. Ship hulls of various vibrant colors gleaming off of the sun's rays as they zipped to and from the opening in the moon. The sleek pink court vessel pulled in and glided to the designated parking zone. Once in the right spot, it floated gently downward, and landed on solid ground.
Not seconds after the locks had disengaged and the ramp deployed, a group of short but thin, pale peach gems with serene expressions bustled onto the ship; as they moved, hints of green or yellow seemed to glitter over their translucent complexion, but their uniforms were adorned in bright pink for their Diamond. They scattered to each gem who had been on the away team without skipping a beat, floating diagnostic grids rolling passed their eyes. The Pink Court gems were all approached, including Pink Pearl, who sat patiently as the medic gave her a look over. 6UE receded even more as the small gem scurried up to her and began to perform some kind of check up, motioning for her to drop the box. She hesitated, then did so, and stood back up while the small gem walked circles around her.
"Your clarity," Another medic spoke in a quiet, but firm voice, shaking their head,"I know what you'd prefer, but the exercises I taught you would be effective for reducing this state of mind,"
"Of course, 1EM," She said shortly, her gaze more focused on the clear quartz who had been confronted by one of the small medics.
The one who went to 7XB could immediately see the problem, and scrolled through their diagnostic grid while a glove materialized onto their hand,"I'll administer a pain reducer and photon dense patch," the gem announced for the clear quartz to hear,"Very new tech, but effective I assure you," They remarked as they reached out and placed their hand over the wound. The glove presumably protected them from adverse affects of contacting particles so dense and charged, and in a spritz of bright sparks, the gem's ability to pull certain particles together went into action. The medic kept an eye on their diagnostics, and maintained a neutral expression.
Medics..the rugged clear quartz has never exactly enjoyed them and their fretful, worrying nature, but they had always both appreciated, and respected, the necessity of them, especially in situations such as this; They accepted the nerve-rending attention of the medical gem that slipped up to treat them, both for their own sake and that of Padparadscha- 7XB could only imagine how badly she must get worrying on the inside. She was practically shaking with it, or at least she appeared to be beneath the Quartz gem’s keen gaze. “Ah, right, whatever you think to be sufficient will be just fine.” 7XB was much more interested in what the other medical gem was saying to Padparadscha than their own well-being, though they could only make a bit of it in the sudden crowd of gems aboard the cruiser.
Then, just as sudden as their attention has been drawn, they winced as their wound was tended. It hurt almost as bad as the shot itself, at least initially, though the pain eventually began to fade into a dull throb as the pain reducer came into affect, allowing the medic yo work. They began to wonder if it would have been less painful in the long run to simply retreat into their gem after the altercation, as their form had screamed for them to allow, but their stubborn honor would not allow it, given the circumstances.
"You're a tough gem," The medic commented to 7XB as they withdrew their gloved hand, and their eyes flicked away from the diagnostic grid to assess the patch,"To take a hit like that and keep walking," They shook their head. The words weren't comforting for Padparadscha to hear, her head had already been spinning, and as the quartz had observed, the symptoms of her condition had leaked passed any attempt to withhold them. Her disdain for humans only accumulated each time she were presented with their uncivilized behavior, or the memory of it; but her irritation with the gems in the room grew as well. It was an irritation she wasn't sure how to express, or if she even should. The gem who had been giving her a look over glanced behind them, an almost quizzical look on their otherwise neutral expression, before looking back at the sapphire.
"Shall we go through the exercise together?" 1EM asked their patron, clasping their hands together.
"I'll do it on my own time," She rushed her quiet words, knowing she probably wasn't going to,"For now there's still work to do," The medic let their hands fall, and gave a nod.
"Well, at least take this," The gem handed her a small, white cube, which the aristocrat accepted. One of the medical gems had finished their assessment of Pink Pearl and left her to scurry over to the door, and stand, waiting for the others. 6UE was still being circled, though now her discomfort had grown more palpable; the purple quartz's askew expression contorted even further every time her personal space was invaded by the medic. She had a few burns for the gloved gem to treat, or attempt to, but Amethyst flinched away every time, drawing out the process a bit. Still, the diaspore remained calm, and tried to gently encourage 6UE to hold still. Eventually, the small gem managed to get their work done, and like the one before it, hurried over to stand next to the other at the door. 1EM had lingered for a moment before going back to the door themselves.
The one who had looked over 7XB also attempted to hand them a small white cube,"A gift from our grand Diamonds. Think of it as a sort of pain reducer, temporary affects,"
"Thank you diaspores, good work," Padparadscha managed as the medics had lined up at the door. Each of them threw up a diamond salute in a synchronized manner, bowed, and wordlessly filed out of the ship. The sapphire turned to let her eyes bounce between every gem left in her vehicle, then settled on 7XB,"I would like for you to accompany us to my office for a debrief, we'll need your input. Though, if you find your schedule to be under pressure..." She considered what she could do to extend her time with the clear quartz, but knowing this had been a spontaneous stint on Earth's surface, she couldn't be sure what their scheduling looked like at the moment.
“I wouldn't be much of a quartz if I let something..er..small as this bring me down.” they notedly lightly, though one must wonder if that was aimed at the worrisome Padparadscha to some degree as well. As the diaspores’ work slowly came to an end, 7XB could not help but lift a brow as she offered them what appeared to their eyes to be nothing more than a simple, white cube. “Ah, uhm..thank you.” This was some sort of pain reduction technology? Skeptical as they were, they couldn't deny the numbing effect that courses through them as it is laid into their palm, practically camouflaged against their pale flesh. The quartz wasn't sure if they really liked the feeling, but they could not deny that the technology was remarkable.
As the healera finally began to disperse, 7XB found the opportunity to approach the sapphire, though with the unwanted addition of 6UE and Pearl, there was little they could do to alleviate her fears directly. “So, we just...carry these around, is that it?” They were, of course, speaking of the cubes they'd been given, “really is..ah.. amazing technology, I admit.” Every day the grizzled gem was reminded of how much time has passed since they has emerged from their own kindergarten so very many centuries ago; Technology had advanced by light-years in such a short time, from starships to medical technology, something they'd had little enough experience with in Yellow Diamond's service.
"The Military applications would be remarkable." They knew that their Diamond would think much to same, and as a creation of said Diamond, they liked to see themselves as an extension of her will.
7XB couldn't know how much simply hearing their voice, a more at ease tone, would soothe the gregarious sapphire, but it wasn't only that; to see them in a better mood, more lively and not suppressing themselves, or at the least not suppressing physical pain-- it was enough to cause a whole smile to show, and she took a small step closer to them as she tapped her chin and considered what they'd said. It seemed they had no complaints about their schedule at the moment, and she didn't bother to check her own just yet.
Not only was it relaxing to speak with them, but it was an opportunity to show off some of her knowledge. A small smile lingered, and her head tilted slightly as she spoke,"I agree, quite remarkable. These cubes are a more mysterious item, not many in supply, my access has been dubbed an alpha procedure, one of the first field tests. You could indeed carry it around and absorb it through your hard-light form, it would last longer that way. One of the drawbacks of the cube is that it's affects are fleeting and illusory; dulling pain but not necessarily treating the root of the issue," She glanced back at 6UE and Pink Pearl, who seemed to actually be eavesdropping since neither had anything else to do. Pink Pearl's eyes flicked between the two higher ranked gems, then she shot a look to 6UE, who had her eyes on the far wall, but her ears were open as her patron talked about this hush-hush technology. The sapphire again swiveled to face 7XB, feeling markedly more self conscious,"Erm...well it can be quite relaxing if a full dose is absorbed; perhaps in a combat situation, it would be better to use the way you're using it now," The sapphire fiddled with the cube she'd been offered between her fingers, remembering the last time she'd tried using it as directed by 1EM,"I could demonstrate how it works after business is attended to?" She inflected quietly as she moved passed 7XB, and began to step toward the open door, motioning for them to follow beside her as she went.
As their patron moved, the other gems also went into action, 6UE following behind and Pink Pearl preparing to lock up the ship once everyone had disembarked. Padparadscha's spirits were lifted, but the thick mire of thought that had plagued her before still lurked beneath, her hands fidgeted around the cube she held. She didn't want to abandon those hard questions on her mind just yet, she dwelt on ways to express what she was feeling, and to reconcile what had been learned on the expedition.
Much the same as Padparadscha, it relieved 7XB more than they could say to see her smile, to see her relax somewhat. As at ease as they could be in the company of the two nosey gems, they smiled. By how little she seemed able to divulge, the Quartz could certainly understand just how sensitive and secretive the technology was- something they could certainly appreciate.
“I wouldn't want to impose, Your Clarity,” they said with just a hint of that rarely-seen coyness at her offer of assistance, though Diamonds knew that they wouldn't fight her on it, “you’re a very busy gem, I know.” They fell easily into place alongside her, as eager, if not moreso, than any of the other gems aboard to leave the cramped confines of Padparadscha's cruiser behind. “Ballistic weapons..” they began lightly, bringing the little cube to rest against their leg whislst they walked, “as crude as they are effective..I'm sure my Diamond would find them an interesting novelty. Perhaps I should have retrieved one for her.” It would be nothing more than a mere, worthless bauble, but she may find a moment of amusement from the experience, at least. "Speaking of baubles.." they cut a look sideways, nodding backwards towards Amethyst, "what is that you put us all in danger for, 6UE?" Surely, she couldn't have imagined that no body had noticed?
She stayed breezy and poised as she listened, but when they brought up the weaponry, and Yellow Diamond, the sapphire's jewel-like eyes cast to the side. Of course the soldier wanted to talk of weaponry and their esteemed Commander in Chief, but for reasons she didn't want to dwell on or express, it piqued her irritation. For a moment she thought about how she would respond, but the clear quartz had moved onto a rather important part of today's business. "Yes, do tell 6UE," The sapphire titled her head to peer back, though didn't look directly at Amethyst as she spoke,"There's surely a story behind that?"
6UE almost jumped as 7XB pointed her out,"Uh!" Her lips pressed together and she drummed her fingers on the tub in her possession. She knew she'd have to come forward eventually, now was as good a time as any as she shuffled behind,"Well I just sort of ended up with this, it's protein powder-- uh...lemme explain, it's a long story," Her voice held tension as she tried to conceive of the right words,"Er, well it all started when I met this human who gave me this thing called a coupon. He told me it'd help me with my...workout? But I followed the lead, and when got there, a whole bunch of them were hanging around. Humans, I mean," describing the strange interactions that happened was beyond her, the gears in her head turned as she followed quietly for a moment before finishing her thought,"I think they were all the same cut, kinda,"
As Amethyst spoke on, the sapphire realized that, if anything, her bodyguard had been able to gather cross-referencing data-- that was always good. "Same cut? Were they wearing the same thing?" She interjected, already eager to do an analysis. On the note of outfits, she looked down and remembered she'd been so frazzled that she'd forgotten to change her outfit. She took a moment to switch into a ruffled pink dress as 6UE continued to speak.
"--Yeah. They told me they all do this thing called hockey, that they were celebrating as a team. But they gave this thing to me, and told me to drink it," Her brows furrowed,"I drank it. Like a mouthful of sand, bleh," She shrugged,"That's when things started getting really confusing, but things didn't quite go down hill from there, I ended up learning a lot. Things only really got bad when I bumped into that guard-human who started asking me if I knew you and uh...well you know, I didn't lie," She receded, her voice getting a bit quieter-- perhaps she should've considering they were supposed to be undercover.
"I see. We'll have to have a more careful analysis of your experience," The sapphire mused, and glanced to 7XB for their input as she continued walking through the hanger, lower ranked gems dodging around the group as they hurried to their tasks.
Kept their eyes trained upon the hanger door as 6UE dived into her explanation, cutting a clear path for the group through the bustling crowd of working gems, though it was hardly needed as most of them were eager enough to get out of the way of the small entourage surrounding Padparadscha. Even so, they were listening rather closely to Amethyst's 'explaination’ winding and serpentine as it seemed to be going. Not a gem trained and grown to investigate, 7XB could not quite find nearly as much of interest in her experience as Padparadscha could, yet they could certainly recognized that which was not mentioned?
“And what exactly does all of that have to do with that little container you're carrying around?” It still wasn't exactly clear where that came into play, unless they were to assume that the sandy substance the Amethyst had decided to take into her body for some reason was the same mixture she now carried. And even then, what purpose did it serve? Despite appearing to be on the bend, every inch of their body still screamed with fatigue, and they were growing impatient. “And does it even serve a purpose?”

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
Orginal Opening Plot Here Thread That Changed Everything
Differances Between the Roleplay and the Show
*Thanks to Rose Quartz' message the Gems on Earth are entirely aware that the Homeworld Gems intend to wipe out the human race.
*The "corruption"'s Origin is still unknown, some suspect it was a viral infection, other claim it was a Diamond experiment gone awry and other suspect the organics were behind it. Regardless no one seem to have a proper answer about what it was and why its only isolated to Earth
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
