Arsenic 1V2D 2MD
Shortened: Ari
Appeared Gender: Feminine
Appeared Age: Older
Actual Age: ~ as old as the Yellow Court
Gemstone: Solid Arsenic, Inverted Heart Cut
Gemstone Location: On either side of her head
Faction: Homeworld (tentative) Wanderer (Ancients)
Corrupted: 🚫
*Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Appearance: *Pending image Ari is an average sized gem with a proportionate waifish build, standing right at 5’5 feet tall. She has dark silver hair that sprouts into an untamed crest along the top of her head, and is often seen wearing her mechanized goggles. Her skin is silvery and changes its apparent tone when it catches the light at different angles, her eyes are a bright, intense yellow. She likes to keep her outfits varied but they're always out-of-the way, simple styles inspired by historical human designs, and will sometimes be seen donning actual human attire. She has a holotech belt filled with gem artifacts ready for the use, if she isn’t already wearing them.
Personality: Arsenic seems carefree and laid back at a glance. She is quick to laugh, engage in conversation, and can be charmingly gauche with others. At times it might seem that nothing can make her angry, but this is truly just because she’s tired of it already. The only real way to tell if she is upset would be that her sarcasm can be caustic when she is pushed, but her nature leads her to roll with the metaphorical punches of social confrontation easily.
However, once things get more combat oriented, Ari isn’t one to stick around. She’s terrified of getting hurt, to the point where she can always be trusted to run when she feels threatened. This gem will go to great lengths to avoid getting any kind of damage, but sometimes will endure potential dangers if the reward is high enough, in the case of the pursuit of her gadget building and collecting.
Ari is fascinated with technology, and feels most in her element when fixing something or putting things together. The best way to bolster herself esteem is to hand her a broken thing and ask her to fix it-- she will do so at all costs, and will sometimes drive herself nuts obsessing over a problem. However, this is where her desire to “fix” things ends. She keeps her problems inside, and becomes uncomfortable with vulnerability from others, coping with deflection tactics which can lead to those “gauche” ticks of hers. She doesn’t easily form bonds, and prefers superficial relationships. However, certain gems prove themselves to be particularly entertaining or good to have around, and she will be more open with those she finds trustworthy.
👍Novelty, distractions, human stuff, passiveness
👎Tedium, monotony, stubbornness
😱 Being trapped, taking damage, moralization of her pursuits
Weapon: Arsenic doesn’t summon a weapon, but rather has a set of goggles that project from her gem which allow her to access a range of diagnostic capabilities, projecting known mental information like models and maps across the screen but also serve as a minor protective measure, as the goggles can reflect energy beams or physical forces.
ABILITIES: This Arsenic mostly lacks any real abilities of her own, including many standard gem abilities. The series she belongs to was developed in order to put together gem artifacts and innovate. While other arsenics were inventors and the like, 1V2D 2MD was made to assemble them at the end of the processing period. She does, however, posses a good amount of intuition and general intelligence, especially since she is nearly as old as the gemkind empire.
*Artificer-- Given the proper tools, Arsenic can create gem artifacts. However, she needs 1) a gem core, 2) something to assemble it with 3) a number of days to assemble it (in real time, I will say she can create one artifact per month if given the right materials, but I will only use this ability where it is narratively significant). I would propose that this “ability” be mainly used as a slot for her penchant of collecting gem artifacts. At any one point, Arsenic may be carrying three different artifacts.
*The artifacts she is carrying will be revealed through RP.
*The effect any given artifact has on the gem will be first approved in the Gem Artifact bin, it's up to you how it affects your character!
History: This series of Arsenics were created in order to assemble technology for Yellow Diamond’s court. As a unit, they used gem cores in order to create artifacts that would be useful to the court, and occasional branched out to the testing of new forms of gem powered technology all together. Arsenic 2MD worked alongside a team of 700 Arsenics to build new series of prototypes that would go on to be rigorously tested.
However, 2MD grew tired of thousands of years of endless assembly line work. After a long period of assembling artifacts, she decided to break away from what she normally did, and began experimenting with other areas of learning. However, Arsenic’s experiments were not so subtle, and she was quickly found out by her compatriots who turned her in to the Authority. Arsenic accepted her fate completely, however, she soon found that her sentence wouldn’t be what she had thought it was.
Instead, she was jettisoned into space, aimed for a little planet called Earth, where Arsenic 2MD would take part in an extensive series of assignments that would push her abilities to their limits. She worked with a rag-tag team of other criminal gems, and she found herself in good company-- however, one step out of line here was not permitted, so most of the gems decided to take their second chance. Arsenic, though, couldn’t stop. She despised assembly work, preferring the excitement of new revelation over doing work for things she couldn’t care less about.
With the planet largely vast and untamed, Arsenic escaped and eventually ended up in the Siberian tundra, where she built her own make-shift lab (before the rise of written human history). From that point on into the present, she spent her time exploiting local humans and the occasional gem to get the materials she needed in order to continue her independent experiments. She also spends time tracking down known artifacts scattered around Earth, leading her on long journeys away from the zone she designated for herself.
Arcs: Ari will acquire her three lost artifacts! (if they are approved after being posted) and she will move on to go out to acquire other artifacts that can be found in the artifact bin! More arcs are to be determined as she mingles with the other gems on site. May have several "flashback" threads where she meets the other ancient gems who call Earth home.
