The hot morning sun's rays fell onto the ocean and Mask Island. The white beryl who arrived here with his new apprentice, a small yellow gem by the name of Cat's Eye, had no problem with the heat. Today was a special day, for his apprentice would make first hands-on in gaining knowledge. He himself also wanted to come here for the same reason and maybe something more. Radiant looked to Cat's Eye and spoke: "Well, how is it? I personally find it quite fulfilling, you might say." The tall gem made his first moves towards the jungle, gesturing that Cat's Eye should come too.
The young yellow gem arrived on the lush island, noticing how plentiful this small land mass was in regards to life. Trees towered over them both, trumping Radiant's impressive height and making Cat's Eye feel incredibly small. She didn't mind how intense the heat was on the island, it would not affect her in such a matter as it would with organic life. Tall grasses and shrubs surrounded the area, with a few extended onto the beaches. The white beryl had said they are coming here in order for Cat's Eye to gain some knowledge, although she found it to be a strange choice. She thought that they were going to be reading books, but then again, Radiant was the expert here, not a simple soldier like herself.
The yellow gem shifted her feet uncomfortably, and said, "...It's nice." Looking around the area, she moved towards the forested area with the beryl. Nothing in particular stood out to her, until something shiny caught her interest. Whipping her head around, she whispered, "Wait," and walked up to the structure. Looking up at the crystalline structure she had saw, she, at a louder volume, commented, "Ooh, this is pretty!"
The figure with monochromatic clothing had already made an "Log' of this land, but came back to reassure something in it's head, now more afraid than in a long time, she stealthily puts her shoulder spikes on the floor, searching for something down on the underground, but without sure about everything happening on the island, she found an Geode on the surface by accident, but that's not what she what's looking for, then she quickly hides more and more when makes noises to don't ending up hurting anyone. When she finally got the flower, she noticed she picked the wrong one. "Whatever... i have all the eternity after all" she whispered frustrated. When she pierced trough an tree by accident, she gave up for a while. "I'm done for now..." she said. When she realized she did not whispered, she was going to see if was really necessary to be sneaky, or if she was alone, when she saw 2 Gems "residing" this land, she got worried, but maybe noone have listened her.
Radiant just wanted to move into the deep jungle of the island, when Cat's Eye's disagreement surprised him. He slowly looked for her until the white beryl found the small yellow gem, standing in front of a structure composed out of a crystal-like material, shining brightly in the hot sun's light. With his eyes as well as knowledge he tried to analyse it, identify it's past and purpose. "Well, you have a very keen eye, very useful. Good job" he declared with a smile as well as a smooth, kind voice to encourage her to find even better things on this tropical paradies. They found something which could maybe be of use, who knows what else they could find here?
A big smile spread across the yellow gem's face, appreciating the white gem's comment. "Why, thank you!" she thanked cheerfully, turning her head to look at the beryl as she said so. Her attention the returned to the crystalline structure in front of the two gems. It looked familiar; she had seen structures like this one on other planets she had been on before coming to earth. What is this... she thought, trying to remember the name of the structure. It almost seemed like a cave, casting a slight shadow over the two vastly different gems. The outside of it was rock, but inside, it was just clusters of crystals. They shined brilliantly in the sunlight. "Do you know what this is called?" she asked Radiant, curious about the name. However, she could not just shake off the feeling that she was being watched...
"Alright, if i'm not gonna work, at least i'll check these gems" she whispered. Looks like the White gem was trying to teach something to the Yellow gem or something like that, so she did realized that maybe would not be that easy "hurt" them with or without spikes, so before she goes, just to be sure, she tried to find some metal, steel or maybe another weapon, just in case she was getting into problem, but didn't find anything. After that though, she brought an small geode using her shoulder spikes and some flowers nearby to compliment these Gems. After getting a little courage, she came to where they were. "Greetings... uh..." She said worried if it was or not a good idea, but it was too late anyways.
Analysing the cave his small companion found, he really could not remember seeing one himself, but as he wanted to open his mouth, he heard another voice.Quickly turning his head, he saw a gem. With her skin being green and judging by the outfit, this was probabl, a Peridot, but this one looked more odd, not what Radiant was used to see as Peridots. Shaking this off, he approached the newcomer with relative speed and extended a hand. With his enthusiastic-sounding voice he proclaimed: "Greetings to you to, I am White Beryl, but you can call me Radiant." This was only getting better he thought to himself, maybe the Peridot would go back with them to the City?
"Huh?" The yellow gem turned around at the sound of the new voice, reminding her of a peridot's. And behold, it was a peridot she believed to be in front of her. Although her outfit was... unusual, she ignored this, and gave a friendly nod. "Hello!" she chirped, a small smile forming on her face. "My name is Cat's Eye!" Her eyes focused on the green-skinned woman. "What's your name?" A name was always a welcoming start to forming a new friendship, if everything went well. She did not know much about the green gem, but judging by her own outfit, she could not see a reason why she could be affiliated to Homeworld. Then again, Radiant did not have a diamond on his robe, but she knew now not to assume so if this was the case. After all, her companion does still serve Homeworld, unlike herself.
"I ain't got name, just Peridot will do, but if you guys hear me saying my name is PR, just call me Peridot please". Peridot wanted to know what happened to her alterego if they bothered her, maybe even get rid of her alterego would be just fine for Peridot. "Here, lemme share some information with you" she said before starts saying how its Healing Spikes works with an healing substance she developed. After the explanation, Peridot would like to know what they were doing here, and where they were headed just see if it's worth adding some more information on this "Log Land 14". Cat's Eye and Radiant seems reliable to Peridot, so that's why she would follow them if necessary. "White B-B... I mean Radiant, i'm a bit lost here, could you after what you're doing, guide me to somewhere i can feel safer... with metal to bend please?"
Listening to the Peridot and her explanation on how she constructed these spikes, filling them with her own self-made healing substamce impresed Radiant to a small degree. "Wow, this is quite impressive. I need to admit, you are a fine specimen of a Peridot." After the Peridot concluded the explanation and asked what they were doing on this "Log Land 14", he stated: "You see, I wanted my disciple here to have some hands-on experience. and look what we found." As he finished, he pointed to the cavern. Finally, after stating her ability to bend metal, he responded: "Hm, bend metal you say? Well, if you would be willing to help me in my tasks with your abilities, then I could gladly take you somewhere save."
Cat's Eye gave an excited nod when Radiant mentioned what they had found. "Yeah! Isn't it cool?" she chimed in after he had finished his statement. With that, she let Peridot finish the rest of her explanation, and stepped up to face her. "Metal-bending?" she mused. "That sounds interesting." Metal was an interesting subject. It was a common component in many of the machines found on Earth, although the former soldier had heard that the actual type of metal varies. It could be copper, aluminum, steel, and many other elements that all fall under the umbrella known as metal. "Is there any chance you could show me?" She stopped, and then added, "Well, us." Despite her trust in the white beryl not being absolute, it would not be fair to leave him out of any demonstrations.
"I can try to help, but..." Peridot said, a bit worried. "I didn't find any metal to bend here" She reinforced that fact to be clear. She was willing to help if that meant to not unleash her alterego by isolating itself with heavy metal layers, the last resource would be shatter herself to not suffer anymore and don't be afraid of turning into another totally different being. "But look, i have the healing spikes, i can help with those" she confidently said to Radiant and Cat's Eye that with the Healing Spikes she can guarantee that none gets hurt and could help both with any information they needed. Now it's just a matter of time to see if all works out.
Radiant nooded, the spikes could be certainly of use for them. However, bow was high time to go into the crystal cave. Moving into it's direction, he looked back and asked: "Very well, I think we should explore this structure which Cat's found." He kneeled down at the entrance, inspecting the crystals which made up the cave's inner room. What fascinated the white beryl was not the crystals themselves, those were fairly common, but the fact that they even grew in such a weird spot. Reaching out with his hand, he broke some off a fairly large amount of gems, putting it in his pocket for further investigation when they would arrive home.
"Aww..." the gem muttered quietly in disappointment. She turned her head around to look at Radiant, and when he announced his plan, she gave a quick nod, and walked over to it. Watching the beryl break off a few crystals from the strange cave, she wondered if that was a good idea. But then again, she was not a scientist. Perhaps she could do something similar? Cat's Eye stepped into the mass of crystals. The cave was not very deep, but it was still capable of providing shelter to any living thing passing by. Feeling the interior, all she could feel were, well, crystals. Pinks, purples, and blues surrounded her, giving a strange, purple tint to those who stood in it. She started to think. Maybe Peridot knew something about this?
"Hey, Peridot," she spoke up, turning around to face her. "Do you know what this is?"
"These kind of rock with crystals inside are nodules, a kind of colored geode, tho i gotta admit it's a bit weird they are up here" Peridot explained what she could remember for the moment. She noticed that maybe was Radiant who had to explain, after all, if she gets attached to someone, even just by talking to them, she might turn on her alterego. "C-Cat's Eye, just ask me... if Radiant can't answer please, i'm afraid i can't do this, but i still can help if someone gets hurt" She said being afraid to talk to them that much. For someone that's supposed to be cold, she was warming up her feelings, it could unleash It anytime. Maybe it's time to tell them the truth about why she can't get along.
