Personality: Iolite is a very serious, commanding gem. She believes she deserves respect and does what she needs to earn it. Though not that old, she's already commanded respect from her immediate peers, and pulled it from her subordinates with an iron fist. Emotionless and deadpan (most of the time), it's very difficult to judge Iolite's state of mind, which is exactly how she wants it. In her eyes, the less able people are to read her, the better.

Cold and ruthless, this gem is ready to do whatever is necessary to get a mission done. She's intolerant of insubordination, and actually has much less patience than one would initially expect.

Overload & System Uplink


Ability 1:

Iolite can project energy into robots and machines, overloading their systems and causing them to crash.




Ability 2:

Iolite can remotely control most machines that have been added to her system. She cannot add preexisting machines to the system herself, it can only be done by a Homeworld superior. The machines include:
Most modern ships, modern meaning from at most three years ago. However, there are limits; if the ship was not assigned to her own team, she has to ask permission.
Any robot she herself creates

Any Homeworld-made communications device. As with the ships, she must ask permission if it belongs to anyone not in her own squad.

History: Iolite was one of the first in what would become a long line of gems that have been modified and synthesized with prototype Homeworld technology. The cybernetic surgery damaged Iolite's body, forced her to retreat into her gem, and she was synched with the tech upon regeneration. This gives her a more robotic appearance, and gives her internal functions that are a mix of both biological and mechanical. Before releasing her into the ranks of the Homeworld military, various tests to gauge her reflexes, decision making, loyalty, intelligence, and strength were run, and the results greatly satisfied those in charge of her construction.

Once preliminary and field tests proved that Iolite was a standout amongst other gems, she was assigned her own squad to lead as well as her own ship, the Igneous. Currently her squad's objective is simply to explore new planets, scoping out what would be good for mining operations, though even Iolite has not been told the details of said project. In addition, she was given a mobile lab on her flagship and charged with furthering the research that resulted in her own existence.

While her team evaluates dig sites, Iolite tirelessly works in the lab, studying Gem biology and developing new technologies for use back on Homeworld. She rarely leaves the ship to carry out missions herself, but there are instances where she deems an assignment to risky to leave to one of her subordinates, and will proceed to do the job on her own.

Buff up the history with a little more words.
The fact that she basically has three weapons is really bugging me and the excuse of her body being the weapon is somewhat flimsy. Hate to say, but pick one weapon and stick with it, having multiple weapons like this makes Iolite way too versatile.

As for Iolite's weapons, the versatility was what I was going for. She was designed to be perfect, but I do understand why you're asking me to change. I hope it doesn't seem like i'm arguing, I'm just trying to explain why I made that decision. No need to worry, she's down to one weapon.

Im just a little confused about how her history ties into the universe. So she basically a scouting crew for planets that have kindergartens on them(although she doesn't know that). Thats fine, but then why would she still be on this planet. Earth has a Kindergarten rigged up so their would be no point in her staying. Perhaps you could alter it so earth was just a stop on the way to another planet you were meant to scout out but the ship was damaged by a corrupted gem and since the warps are down you cant repair the ship thus trapping you on this planet even though your objective was another planet.

Well for one, Homeworld is thinking of establishing more on Earth, but she doesn't stay here. Iolite and her crew make rounds from planet to planet that they've been assigned to. Should I put that in the history?

In universe though if the Homeworld was wanting to set up more would they not fix the warps. Basically at least for now the Homeworld has forgotten about the backwater planet called Earth so they would not send out another crew.If you really want it could be you just had a very long list that you have been going through for 50 - 100 years and Earth was one of the planets. Personally though i still think Earth just a being a small rest/restock point would work better that you got stuck on would work better.
