Topaz visibly cringed, shifting in her seat. Bowing her head slightly, she spoke: "A fault of my design. I had noticed the sound had affected you as well; while the actual effect is supposed to be limited in the radius of destroying the physical form. I never DID truly understand the extent of sound and how it works..." Topaz sighed, leaning back and twirling a strand of her hair. She had hoped to have the absolute perfected design by the time the 'customer' got here - she wasn't known as the 'Forgemaster' for delivering faulty products. "I can, of course, continue improving the design. I am aware that it is however needed for a critical mission, so either way - I would be more than happy to oversee the installation myself."
She nodded as the gem spoke. The picture became clearer to her; the Wave Disruptor was a collaborative project, between technicians and smiths, to create something that would adequately defend a sensitive operation. The sapphire accepted the fact that a smith was unlikely to be a sound expert, she wasn't one either. Rather, she was more inclined to target the technician involved in the creation of the Wave Disruptor for this fault.
The sapphire recalled the words Imperial Topaz had said to her back at the relay; rushing things often resulted in poor quality work. As irksome as it was to be delayed, a faulty piece of defensive equipment could be the undoing of this project. She was relieved that this Forgemaster was easier to work with than she had initially assumed, and the gem seemed to take pride in her work, her ability to deliver results, which was something Padparadscha could empathize with-- she wanted to allow the Forgemaster room to do what she did best.
"I see. I will want this machine functioning at an acceptable level before it is delivered to the site, as soon as possible of course; but it wouldn't do if the device is as dangerous to the team as it would be to outlaws," It was good that she hadn't waited until the last second to commission for a defensive device, but every minute was imbued with a sense of urgency,"For now the soldiers are directed to stay alert, their work could be interrupted at any time, but so far there has been no indication of rebel activity in the area," She paused, tapped her finger on the table, and shifted so that her shoulders were squared toward the Forgemaster,"If you were to arrive on site I would have to appeal for your clearance; any gem not given clearance is to be incapacitated. It can certainly be arranged, but as brilliant as your team is as I'm sure, it's better that as few of them as possible are involved. Are there any other gems who you would like me to make appeals for?" She canted forward. Part of her hoped that Imperial Topaz would be able to accomplish her task without bringing even more gems into the know, but she would make the arrangements if needed.

Topaz considered the Sapphire's words, and for but a moment doubted her own skills, but silently shook her head with new resolve. "I can make the new adjustments in..." Normally, adjusting the impact force and area to change the radius of the soundwave could take months of calculations, but that wasn't a good answer. "A week. It will be perfect." It wasn't a lie either - Topaz should have - no, needed to have - confidence that the Peridot squad could do it within that time. They were the best around, its not like they haven't been pushed on harder deadliens before. "In addition, I believe I am firmly capable of completing the installation of the Wave Disruptor without outside assistance. No other Gems will know about this project unless necessary." Well that was mostly true - all it would take is one of the Quartz guards that would most likely be on site to help with some heavy lifting.
The corners of her lips rose into a satisfied smile as Imperial Topaz made her determinations. Though she had no idea how long something like this would typically need to be readjusted, it would be completed sooner than she had anticipated, and the fact that no other gems who had to be involved came as a relief. The Forgemaster's assured tone bolstered her own confidence in the matter. Though she were concerned that the that perhaps this gem were saying things to appease her, she didn't detect any sort of lie as the gem spoke; it was enough to lift the sapphire's previously more sullen mood.
"Excellent!" Her more genuine sunny tone had returned in place of the artificial politeness she had taken on before,"That's good news, Forgemaster. I'm sure the field team will be relieved to know their backs will be covered in case of attack," The situation wasn't ideal, but it was better than waiting more than a week.
She paused for a moment, then reached over to tap the glittering bracelet on her wrist. Her holopanel floated up a comfortable length from her hand, and she began to input into her schedule as she spoke,"I have another request-- I'd like to know the designations of the technicians who have helped you with the Wave Disruptor's engineering," There were several questions she had for them, and she had a mind to get to the bottom of why there had been an error in the first place,"Any and all gems who have made contributions, if you could, send their profiles to my database,"

"Their designations? Of course, I shall get on that when the time presents itself - forgive me, for I haven't them memorized. I recommend you go... easy in your questioning, however, for rest assured I have thoroughly 'reviewed' their standing in my team." Topaz spoke nonchalantly, feeling a pang of remorse for the poor Gems about to suffer the wrath of a noble. Oh well, Topaz can't save them all. A knocking on the door prompted Topaz to glance at a screen on the wall, displaying a grainy image of one her Bismuths - 3X she believed - standing at the door. "If that is all, I believe that we both have much to do in order to further our tasks, no?" Topaz stood up, waiting for Padparadscha to mirror her action before clapping twice, allowing the furniture to collapse back into the floor. "One of my Bismuths shall escort you back to warp gate B if you've no further concerns."
At the gem's suggestion that she should go easy on the technicians, her lips pressed together. "I wont be causing too much trouble for them," She said, giving a bit of a spritely grin as she stood. In reality it was less about Imperial Topaz's judgement of the gems, and more about her own curiosity; perhaps these technicians would be able to redeem their engineering flubs in days to come, but knowing the weaknesses of the technology she was given to work with allowed her the knowledge she needed to strategize around possible failures in the future; in light of that, she had more to talk to the Forgemaster about, but the gem was also right, there was other business to attend to for the time being.
She gave a curtsy,"I'm glad we could have a productive meeting, Forgemaster-- I'll be sure to get that appeal in to the manager as soon as possible," As she rose from her curtsy, her hands clasped together,"After those files are sent I'll be contacting you for updates on the Wave Disruptor's progress, as well as for it's specifications," It would ease her mind, if nothing else.
The sapphire swiveled, her dress fluttering as she turned, and she stepped for the door, ready for another glimpse of the forge as well as to check up on the next item on her schedule.
This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
Orginal Opening Plot Here Thread That Changed Everything
Differances Between the Roleplay and the Show
*Thanks to Rose Quartz' message the Gems on Earth are entirely aware that the Homeworld Gems intend to wipe out the human race.
*The "corruption"'s Origin is still unknown, some suspect it was a viral infection, other claim it was a Diamond experiment gone awry and other suspect the organics were behind it. Regardless no one seem to have a proper answer about what it was and why its only isolated to Earth
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
