Sulfur wore the coat to hide his face. He had done his best to take the appearance of a human. That way he could blend in among them. Not that he liked them, no Sulfur hated humans, he just wanted to be left undisturbed. Gems are much worse that way, homeworld gems that is, always being so nosy. One day he was going to go into space. He was going to leave all of this nonsense behind and have a planet of his own.
Sulfur looked sourly at the water. How much he had lost since his two thousand year sleep ended. Before he would have wished things could go back to the way they were before, but now he realized all of that had been fake. He was going to live in a world like this if he liked it or not. He was back and square one now, making earth livable. A gull pooped above him and if he hadn't darted aside it would have soiled his hat. With a subtle motion of his hand he summoned one of his blades and sent it flying at the gull, piercing it through. He desummoned the blade in the same motion. To others it would have seemed that the gull just dropped dead.
Sapphire sped along shore, near bushes as to not hit anyone. She heard a gull's cry, and she stopped. She saw a... What was he? A human or a gem? Whatever he was, he was just under a seagull that just.. Dropped dead? Sapphire knew something was wrong.
She used her light manipulation to put on her best human disguise, however if one touched her the light would fizz out of existence. She came to this strange one to see what was going on, however there was no cover. She decided to interact instead.
"Hi!" she said, trying to hide her suspicions. She smiled awkwardly, trying to appear friendly. Secretly she was scanning for any signs of him being a gem, however she saw none. At the same time, she made sure she was showing no signs of being a gem.
Sulfur turned toward the one who had called him. He instantly regretted stabbing the bird, it had given him away. He was trying to think of something that would most effectively repel the human. He considered due to his claim about the nosiness of other gems that she may not be a human. That would make sense. Such a consideration had no real ground, he decided.
"Can I help you?" He asked in a neutral tone, facing the water again. He didn't want to show much emotion, suggesting that this encounter wasn't very interesting to him. If he could get her to think that he was unrelated to the gull perhaps she would dismiss the whole deal. Nothing good could come of this.
She could tell that this person- or gem- was hiding his emotions. "Umma... A bird just fell. Isn't that funny? As in weird?" Sapphire said. "I'm.." She immediately regretted trying to introduce herself because now she had to make up a human name. "I'm Voilet," she managed to blurt. Secretly, she realized that if this person was a gem he would try to make sure she didn't know that he was associated with the bird incident. "So what is up?" she said.
She quickly moved the light that disguised her as a human to make her eyes blue in case he turned to see she had abnormally red eyes. That would be bad because then her cover would be blown.
"You started a conversation with me..because a bird fell from the sky and you believed that to be abnormal?" Sulfur asked, amusement in his voice. He took off his hat and held it under his arm. He had black hair and black eyes due to his disguise. As he turned to face her he grinned in amusement. His black hair was tucked into a neat ponytail. He put his hands in his pockets and approached her slowly as to not trigger alarm.
"I am Suoh, Violet, you have approached me for a peculiar reason. Do you think that I had something to do with this bird?" Sulfur asked, not as much caring how well he kept up his disguise. "Or did you just have an insatiable desire to speak with someone, and so you chose me, the first person you saw? The latter is less likely I'd assume given your demeanor..."
Sapphire didn't speak. She had seen nobody with black for an eye color. This was a sign. A sign that this one was a gem. But she didn't look him in the eyes. She just looked toward a flock of seagulls. The flock was standing on the ground, eyeing the two gems. She snapped twice and the seagulls flew off. She didn't want to blow her cover.
"I doubt that anyone had anything to do with it. It's just... Weird. Right? There's no need to get weirdly spooky about it," Sapphire said. This was getting a bit creepy, and Sapphire wasn't one for spooky. She couldn't help but eye him. How were his eyes black? It was so freaking peculiar!
He brushed his black hair aside with his hand. As he smiled his teeth showed. They were white and not very sharp, his hairstyle was not very alarming and overall he seemed docile, except for his eyes. Not the fact that they were a new color as much, but the look in them. The look of a killer.
"Get spooky? I'm not the one who brought it up I'm afraid dear." Sulfur said with a shrug and a smirk. He put a hand on his chin and tilted his head. "You know, I don't think that you're being entirely honest with me... it's not normal to start a conversation because a gull just dropped from the sky randomly now is it? Is it dear? I disagree. Now tell me why you really approached me hm?"
"Okay, fine, but if you're really a human, you HAVE to keep this a secret. I'm a gem that protects this place, and I need to make sure I know what's going on in this place so i can do that. I knew something was wrong when the gull fell, so I wanted to check and see if it was the doing of a gem. I'm sorry if I disturbed you," Sapphire said.
Deep inside, she knew this person was going to answer with an agitated posture. The guy might even... No. She didn't want to think the thought of him attacking her. She kept up her disguise, for two reasons. The first was she didn't want attention from humans, the second being if she revealed her gemstone she might be shattered.
"Wow, you're a gem!?" Sulfur asked with a shocked expression. "I would have never guessed! So, you think a gem killed that gull... it seems that is a rather mysterious occurrence... should we team up to investigate? I feel like if you think a gem did this, we could be in danger. You know, some gems are crazy."
He inwardly enjoyed the irony of that last statement, but none of his intentions showed through his mask of shock and wonder. Sulfur wondered what he was going to do with this gem, he felt they were still putting up a facade of some sort. Why would they be protecting this place? It wasn't worth it. He had to find out before he made a decision. Potential could be found in the most unlikely places.
