Ignis didn't seem to be lying, and the more he spoke the easier it was to read his facial and verbal cues. However, there were ways to circumvent her power of truth sensing, so she remained suspicious. Padparadscha pinched the bridge of her nose, eyes shut and teeth clenched. She had a good team, but that team wasn't for search and destroy missions-- it was for covert investigation. Even if the message was meant only to give Ignis a new objective, what was the gem to do, take out however many rebels there were entirely on his own? If that were the case, why even hire the Pink Court investigations unit?
"Even so, it sounds as if rebel presence was suspected from the beginning. If what you say is true that means that Homeworld has already sent at least three battalions to this star system and not one has made it out. In what universe are we, a small team of six, going to have any more luck against a foe that can destroy three battalions?" Her voice seethed from her, and she shook her head. The sapphire considered turning the ship around as soon as they got to the star system-- this Ciris was a quartz commander, not a Diamond adjudicate, so Padparadscha was confident she could make a case for it. She walked back around to her seat, and sat down with a long sigh,"Pearl, we're turning this ship back around as soon as we get into the system. I cannot, as the commander of this vessel, allow such enormous odds to be stacked against us. If we return, it will be with better preparations. Load the warp engines,"
"Yes your clarity," Pink Pearl said quickly. Jasper relaxed, but Clinohumite seemed to continue to hold tension. Diaspore remained unflappable.
The ship finally exited the warp, bringing them into the apocalyptic scene; debris from gigantic ships that had been torn asunder, unfamiliar worlds and a pulsating star. Padparadscha's nerves seared as Pink Pearl began to load up the additional warp engines that were meant to be used for their return flight.
