Lapis Lazuli had just arrived on a beach for her first mission as an official terraformer. She was given a relatively easy task due to her being new and all, and while she was aware of the fact she was given an easy mission as a simple retrieving task this didn't make her less excited. Lazuli was a generally relaxed and over all laid back type of gem but this was so exciting she couldn't hide her amusement, finally she could serve the diamonds and put her powers to use. However, what she wasn't aware of was that this beach was home to the rebellions base, she wasn't directly in front of the temple but she could be seen by someone outside of the temple. Lazuli gauged the amount of sand she would need and stood back, she then lifted her hands making the surrounding water creep throughout and under the sand, once she felt satisfied that she had secured the sand well enough in her bubble of water she lifted her hands and arms even more to get the 7000 pounds worth of sand off of the ground, leaving a rather giant crater in the ground. Lazuli gave a bright smile as she wasn't expecting this to go so well.
Tourmaline was walking around the beach searching for any pieces of scrap metal to continue on inventing his machines. The famed electrician has hit a bit of a low point, seeing as he's been discovered not once, but twice by Homeworld gems. In one of the encounters they were sent to specifically FIND him, but of course he'd rather not be found as that would force him to return to serving homeworld and the diamonds. Well... the diamonds themselves weren't THAT bad, but they would force him to overdrive the kindergarden production of their soldiers, resulting in a faster depletion time of this planet's resources. Serving the Diamonds meant killing the planet that he's grown slightly fond of, the animals of the planet had the most curious behavior. As he was thinking he would hear a rapid beeping noise as he looked down at the sand as he got down and begun digging in the soft substance to search for the piece of metal the machine had detected. He pulled out a solid sheet of iron, must have been left here after a battle or something. As he picked up the dusty sheet, he wiped off the sand as the reflection was clear behind him. Wait... he tried rubbing the sheet more and more to clean it, but there was still a large circle of sand before he realized that it wasn't in JUST the reflection. He turned around to see the Giant floating ball of Sand in horror
Lazuli studied the large mass of sand encased in the orb of water carefully to make sure she got enough sand, she couldn't tell if it was too little or too much. She was satisfied that it was right, she turned around in the direction she arrived while summoning her upside down water wings. As she was about to fly off she saw the green figure not too far away from her, since she had never seen a gem that looked like this but had seen a gem with a green form she wasn't sure if this was a native to the planet earth or if it was another gem.
She was a bit startled to say the least which made her drop the 7000 pounds of sand she was hovering above the earth, making a rather large crash followed by water splashing over the beach and a little on Lazuli. "What are you? Can you speak?" She backed away from the small being about a few steps to put distance between them.
Tourmaline eyes widened as a wave of Ocean water washed over him as he was now lieing down sliding on the beach from the small waves that remained as he spat out some Sea Water. His machine was ruined now, that was a given and the sheet of Metal he was searching for was no buried underneath the sand again. "Well... that's just great" he muttered. He looked up at the flying gem it was a Lapis, the advanced Hydrokineses was a given, but the real question was did she work for home world? If she did, it seemed she had no recollection of who he was, so he didn't need to worry for the moment, but still he would stay on edge. "Yes I can speak!" he called out.
Lazuli saw the massive wave hit the creature and immediately felt bad for what happened. "Oh no I am so sorry!" She took a step forward about to help but remembered that she could just lift the water up, and she did exactly that. Raising her arms and hands even more so, she lifted the sheet of water from the ground with some sand in it leaving everything else other than sand and water behind, including the metal sheet. She then turned to put the water back into the ocean with some difficulty, she looked down at the large amount of sand she had lost her grip on. She sighed as it was all going so well too, but there was still something that needed dealing with. She walked closer to the figure, even if it was hostile she was near a large body of water so she could easily defend herself. At least at this distance she didn't have to yell, "What species are you? Are you a gem?" She questioned, if this wasn't a gem what could it be?
Tourmaline Looked up in panic as the water was again lifted up into the air, but sighed as it retreated back into the depths of the Ocean. "It's Fine, all Fine, I'm fine!" He said a bit panicked, but quickly calmed himself again. "Sorry about that, I hope I didn't startle you. Yes I am a Gem, if My green skin wasn't a big enough hint..." he said as he lowered his shirt slightly to reveal the gem at the base of his neck. "I see you are a Lapis, so that means you have your task here to fulfill, right?" he asked hesitantly, he wanted to find out why the gem was here, but didn't want to make her suspicious of him.
She was a bit confused by the question, she thought all gems that weren't on homeworld were on a mission. "Well, yes I am on a mission. Aren't you on a mission too? And I've never been on this planet before, I didn't know if you were a native from this place." She explained, hoping that would explain that she isn't too stupid while turning around beginning to terraform the sand once again, this time with more difficulty due to the sand being displaced but she still managed to get the sand off of the ground once more, this time trapping some fish in the water with it but she didn't think anything of it. She turned back around to face the green gem, her arm and hand still being raised by her side, turning the large ball of sand with her.
"Ah I mean yes of course I am on a mission... that is why I am here of course to uh..." he looked around "Recover supplies...." he said hesitantly. Tourmaline was glad she didn't know who, rather WHAT gem he was. He looked up at the giant ball of sand and water, seeing the fish. He felt bad for them, but they were fish Trillions more where that came from, and they were still in water after all. He looked around again to gather his thoughts, before focusing on the blue gem in front of him. "I was sent here from Homeworld, so no I am not a native, from what I've heard they're rebelling against the Diamonds." he said that to inform her of the situation so that she would be distracted by another topic. Tourmaline agreed with the Rebel's cause of saving natural life, however he doesn't WANT to disobey the diamonds, despite this being what he was doing.
Lazuli was taken aback by what she had just heard to say the least, how could anyone rebel against the diamonds? Did the diamonds know? How did she not know? "How is there a rebellion? Do the diamonds know?" She summoned her wings and flapped them a few times as a warm up since it helped her get off the ground and remain off of the ground a bit easier.
"I should go and get this back and tell blue diamond, if there's a rebellion here she should know and I don't think that I'm safe here as someone from homeworld." She looked around a bit cautiously, since she was getting nervous she couldn't focus on the massive orb of sand and water. Feeling her grip loosen on it she quickly turned around to face it, outstretching her arms to balance it out. It began to stabilise again and she sighed in relief, she didn't want another wave of water to hit her. "Whats your gem again? I should give you credit when I tell the diamonds." Lazuli turned her head back to face him, flapping her wings again just to make sure she was ready to fly.
The diamonds however, already knew of this rebellion and that is why they needed Tourmaline to ramp up the Kindergarden's production rate for creating Quartz Soldiers to shut down the war quickly. "Oh my name's Tourmaline" he said carelessly, his eyes widening as he realized that probably wasn't a good idea. He just needed her to go fly away so he could get as far as he could away from here. The production of his base needed to happen soon, too many Homeworld gems have seen him already, meaning that word of his where abouts might begin to spread. He quickly picked up the sheet of metal and his Metal Detector before striding towards the woods, looking back to make sure the Lazuli was gone
She was quite happy that a gem she had never met before would help her with this kind of information. "Thank you, tourmaline. I'll be sure to tell my diamond that the tourmaline assigned to earth sample mission told me about the rebellion." She thought about what she had said and was informed of all the gems that would have been on this mission and she didn't recall any tourmalines but maybe it had just slipped her mind. "The diamonds will be so happy with me, I'll probably get promoted right away." She smiled and flapped her wings again before taking off around 10 feet in the air, after a few seconds of struggling to get the large sand ball off of the ground she finally managed to raise it in the air as she flew, flying 20 feet more taking the sand orb with her.
Tourmaline sighed at his mistake, great! Now another Homeworld gem knew that he was still on the planet. Her telling the diamonds would complicated plenty of things, however he didn't want to fight the Lapis she seemed nice and if he was being honest with himself he probably couldn't win with her raw strength and power, especially near the ocean. "Right... well I'll be on my way to continue my mission.." he said cautiously, not wanting to make himself appear anything out of the normal as he strapped the sheet of metal he found earlier to his back, and continued down the beach the machine making it's occasional beeping noises, searching for anything that would reflect the signal back. He looked back every now and then to make sure she wasn't following him
This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
