It was a warm, sunny, breezy, and all around pleasant day to be in Beach City. Larimar, along with her group, had recently come back from an excursion far off - and although Gems didn't get tired Larimar had insisted they take a few days off after an adventure like that. And so, they found themselves aimlessly wandering the outskirts of the town, receiving only passing glances as the humans in the area were by now quite used to the sight of Gems such as them. Deaf to the protests of her guards, Larimar had insisted they each find something personally enjoyable to do for the day - it was highly unlikely any hostile Gem would be so deep into a human settlement. Alone but still chipper, Larimar casually made her way down the main 'stretch', enjoying the day and occasionally ducking into shops.
Maxixe wandered into the human city. She figured there would be no place further from homeworld influence. She walked through, anxiously eyeing the strange creatures that lived there. "Maybe I can find somewhere to stay with... these...", she muttered. Just then, she noticed a gem strolling through the area. Was this a Crystal Gem? Or was homeworld looking for something here? Immediately, she went on-edge, summoning her wings and preparing to flee if necessary. She stuck to the shadows, following and watching the gem for a bit. She was just wandering about, interacting with the humans. At the very least Maxixe felt confident this gem wasn't with homeworld. Once she felt the gem seemed to be acting harmlessly enough, Maxixe peeked from around a corner and called out, "H-hey! What are you doing here?"
Larimar turned, pursing her lips as she strained to see the figure that had called out to her. She couldn't make out many details, but the coloration of their skin seemed to show they were another Gem. "Walking through town. Speaking with people. Ya know. What are you doing here?" It was a bit odd - they didn't seem to be a Crystal Gem if they were hiding in a human settlement, and no Homeworlder would be that flighty. "My names Larimar! How about you?" Perhaps taking a friendly approach would be the best - pacifying the obviously distressed Gem. It was strange, though, even with what she could see Larimar didn't recognize the Gem type, which was odd. Perhaps she was a newer model?
After so many Logs, Peridot decided to only start a new Log when something odd happens, or when something's off. With that in mind, arriving from the ocean, she was a little stressed, but tried to calm down before any interaction. She notice that this time her Shoulder Spikes had come off when she arrived. "Really? I need this now, i really do" She sighed, then come back to the ocean, searched for her Spikes, grabbed them, and then went to the near civilization. "Maybe it won't take so long" When she realized when she said, she laughed. "Yeah, and maybe i grow wings too... What am i thinking?" She approached the city, slowly, trying to not alert anyone, neither seem a threat to anyone, for now.
Maxixe stepped out from behind the corner a bit. "I'm, well, I'm not really sure what I'm doing here. Hiding? Looking for... allies maybe? It's been a really chaotic, really confusing couple of days." Maxixe now fully stepped out from the corner. "Ah, a Larimar, right." She took a brief look down at herself, "I guess you wouldn't really recognize what kind of gem I am, well that we are-" she said before taking one more quick breath to regain her composure. "I'm Maxixe. I'm an Emerald and an Aquamarine fused together. I came here because I wasn't really seeing eye-to-eye with homeworld anymore." Now feeling a fair amount calmer, Maxixe decided to get straight to the point. "So... are you a Crystal Gem? And are there more of you around here?"
"O-oh." Larimar's voice hitched for a moment, finally realizing she was speaking to a fusion - the four eyes a dead giveaway if they hadn't already introduced themselves as such. "You're a fusion..." She faked a cough into her fist, nervously flipping back her hair. "Well I'm not exactly part of the Crystal Gems, no, but I'm no longer with Homeworld either. I'm... not entirely sure if there are Crystal Gems in the area, actually..." she trailed off, looking back up warily at the large Gem.
Meanwhile, Titanite had finally finished his personal task. It was hard to even comprehend at first, but afterwards, like every challenge presented by his Clarity, it was easily surmounted. Not that he would try that activity again unless prompted. He nodded to a human behind a counter, putting down a few pieces of paper given to him by Larimar before striding out of the oceanfront sushi shop, pausing only for a moment to breath in the salty air. ...And immediately spotted what appeared to be a Peridot, soaking wet, approaching town. Narrowing his eyes, he started walking towards the lone green Gem, intent on finding out what she was doing.
Someone approaching her, and the only thing she was begging to the stars... To be just a very detailed Human costume. She stopped and pretended to be searching something on the sand. "It's just a odd Human that wanna go to the beach on a random costume" She kept whispering this to herself, hoping that is true. But when she saw it's shadow, Peridot couldn't just pretend anymore, she looked at the them, it was a Gem. "Why...?" She laid down to recover her strength a bit, but it was no use, she knew she was going to deal with it and with them, maybe some Humans, she was just wondering if that's some kind of curse, it couldn't be, on her mind, everywhere she was doomed.
Maxixe noticed the sudden change in Larimar's disposition, however she still didn't seem to be aggressive. The confirmation that this wasn't a homeworld gem was a big relief, however her intent was still very much a mystery. "I wasn't aware there were gems on neither side." she said. "Are you fighting both of them, or just trying to get away from the fighting?" Maxixe wasn't sure what goals she could be fighting for other than the 2 main factions, and the concept of not choosing a side had passed through Maxixe's mind, but ultimately seemed like leaving her fate in someone else's hands. She was curious as to what drove the Larimar, but was also a bit unnerved by her change it attitude. "Is something wrong?", she asked.
Titanite paused, unsure of what to make of the collapsed Gem before him. Perhaps this was a trick? Then again, this Peridot seemed a bit... to distraught for it to be an act. Making sure he was still a few feet away, he crouched down. "...Hey. I wont hurt you. Probably. What are you doing here?"
Larimar processed the questions, and decided to answer them sequentially. "Nah. I don't really fight anybody. I just tend to hang around Crystal Gem areas because they won't try to shatter or conscript you for treason. And... well... I'm not exactly comfortable around different Gem fusions. No offense! I'm sure you two - er, you're a nice person, but I just..." She rubbed her arm, looking away and blushing lightly.
"PROBABLY!" Peridot started to laugh hysterically out of nowhere. "Ha! Ha! Probably!" She laughed for 15 seconds straight. After a while she calmed down, and still on the sand, looked up to the Gem, smiling and giggling of hysteria. "Aaa, sorry, i couldn't hold back the laughter... So, i thought it was gonna be bad, but i guess this time i was wrong, maybe, who knows" She stood up from the sand and cleared her own Shoulder Spikes, so she couldn't infect someone in case she were trying to heal. Then Peridot started to analyse his body, she realized it was a male-kind Gem when she heard his voice. "Heya, I'm Peridot. Care to tell your... Whoa, i crossed the ocean, but somehow now i'm feeling a different kind of fish smell... I guess i'm going nuts"
“Oh,” Maxixe said, realizing Larimar's discomfort with fusion, “I always just kind of assumed fusion would be a common thing to rebels. Sorry if I… offend you, I guess.” She shifted a bit, caught off guard and a bit disappointed by her reaction. She hadn't given much thought to how rebels may view her as a fusion. Maybe finding rebel allies wouldn't be as simple as she thought. Would she really be the outcast no matter where she went? She paused for a moment then continued, “So you don’t have to fight; you're neutral? I didn't realize that was really an option. Why not join the Crystal Gems if you're going to go through all the trouble of separating from homeworld?”
Titanite stayed silent, eyeing the strange Gem with a look of disbelief hidden beneath his mask. "I am Titanite. Are you cracked, or a defect? Your attitude and... blasé are a bit off putting." Despite the fact that she didn't look like a threat, that didn't mean she didn't have some sort of agenda beneath the surface. It could only benefit him to be sure.
Larimar shook her head, scrambling to rectify her mistake. "Ah! No, don't be sorry... if anyone should be sorry it is I. You shouldn't have to feel ashamed, its what you escaped Homeworld for in the first place, right? I'm just... personally offput by fusions. And, well, I don't particularly agree with how the Crystal Gems run things. And I would rather not take an active role in any sort of combat...-ing or anything of the sort."
Maxixe sighed briefly, "Ok, I'm going to do both of us a favor right now." She began walking up to Larimar, "Let's Just start over." She paused and took one more breath, "Hi, I'm Maxixe. And seeing as you're currently the only gem I know that doesn't want me in pieces, would you mind terribly if I hang around here with you for a while? Until I figure out, well, anything really. I don't really know much about Earth outside of gem controlled areas, and honestly I've never even interacted with humans before. I don't really have anywhere to go." Maxixe felt that she was in an awkward position, but finding some semblance of friends, or some kind of home felt like it took top priority at the moment.
Peridot never heard this word in her entire existence. "Okay Titanite, i'm not cracked, just a little defective, i'm working on that... Now please wait, i want to know what in the world means... Blasé" She pulled her Spikes and grabbed two wooden planks from the beach deck to go straight into the civilization she saw. After landing on the concrete floor swiftly, she managed to not destroy anything, then she ran around the city, looking for some information searching building. "I know Humans build that kind of stuff too... What was off putting?" After some minutes searching far away, she finally saw an building clearly named "Buddwick Public Library", she presumed that was the place she was looking for this time. When Peridot entered the place, she looked for someone to help her, but she already found one Human right away, this was an female Human, with brown hair, green clothes, very soft red skin and was wearing a pair of glasses. "Er, is here the place to access more knowledge?" The Human probably have already seem weirder things, because she didn't react to Peridot's appearance. "Yeah, sure..." The Human said. "So, what's the meaning of... Blasé?" Peridot replied. "Wow, it isn't like that... You're probably looking for a dictionary, and we just have one written by hand, so maybe it isn't even accurate" She tried to explain while handing the book to Peridot. Then Peridot started to look on the book for the meaning, wondering if it was a key word or something like that.
"Diamonds, what have I gotten myself into?" The green Gem grumbled, reluctantly following after Peridot as she darted around, before stopping at the library. She seemed less determined to act sane than to find the meaning of one word, and he sighed as he stepped closer. "It simply means you don't seem to have a goal in mind. You're a little sporadic. ...Get it?"
"Oh! Yeah!" The smaller blue Gem looked a little surprised and nervous, but accepted Maxixe's words with a small smile. "I mean... sure you can hang out with me. We could also go down to the Crystal Gem temple. Like, its surprisingly just kinda sitting out in the open down there." She paused, pointing in the direction of the massive hill overlooking the beach. "They are a lot more open to fusion and permafusion."
