Name: Chelsey “Sel” Gray
Appeared Gender: Female
Appeared Age: ~15-18
Gemstone: Satin Spar Gypsum, a fibrous spear with pointed ends
Gemstone Location: Navel, stretching from the ribs to waistline straight down
Faction: Crystal Gems
Corrupted: No
(If Corrupted)Monster Form: N/A
Appearance: Thick, olive green curls fall freely across chestnut brown eyes and thin lips, arching cheekbones and thin chin shadowed by the frizz of hair. With perfectly tan, freckle-strewn skin flushed green in the sunlight, this gem is certainly an eye-catching display of uncommon colorations. She often wears loose-fitting hoodies with white, frayed shorts cutting off at mid-thigh, plenty of faded green bracelets, and thin beige sandals designed to easily slip off. Her form itself is rather strange, gangly and slight in build but taller than even most Quartz soldiers. Topping out at 6’9 and 97lbs, she’s the picture of a wispy human teen, long-limbed and tall. If her hoodie was kept pulled down, you wouldn’t even notice she wasn’t one.
Personality: Chelsey is a very anxious person, prone to bouts of rambling and incoherent stutters if you let her talk for too long. She can be quite cheerful and optimistic at times, but since she’s so easily startled these moments of bold joy are few and far between. With the stability and general disposition of a skittish rabbit, and plenty of curiosity-soaked introversion on the side, Chelsey is interesting to watch run around, but hard to calm down. Since most people aren't willing to wait for her to become comfortable with them, it's hard for her to meet and make good friends with others, and she finds that interacting with nature and non-sentient beings is only a pale substitute. She may have also had an easier time interacting if she wasn't so afraid of injury due to her weak gemstone, but that couldn't be fixed with anything she's encountered so far...though not for lack of trying, on her part. Buildings things was never her strong suit, even if creation fascinates her.
Likes/Dislikes:
+Sunrises, Nature, Humanity, Dancing
-Eating, Fireworks, Thunder, Grasshoppers
Fears: Homeworld Gems, cracking, corruption, and confinement
Weapon: N/A
Ability 1: Zoom She can see up to 50x better than the average gem, able to focus her vision to pick up minute details not many would even think about. It can’t be held for more than 1 post at a time, however, and the further she zooms the blurrier her normal vision becomes. Every period of use needs a cooldown of the same amount of time.
Ability 2: Psychic’s Body She can sacrifice the integrity of her form for a limited burst of speed, giving her the ability to run upwards of 325 meters per second - a little under the speed of sound - allowing her body’s light to drift behind her, leaving a hard light trail until she stops moving and her body can catch up, becoming fully solid in about three seconds. Once she stops, along with her body having to catch up, she'll usually skid several yards, knocking into whatever happens to be in her direction until something manages to force her momentum to 0. This ability can be used once a thread for a maximum of five seconds(pushing her maximum distance to ~1,625 meters, if her gem isn't caught or stopped by something along the way - easy to do, as turning becomes more difficult the faster Libitina is propelling herself).
Fusions: N/A
History: Chelsey was an experimental gem made to replace other low-ranking gems, as a safer alternative should rebellion strike again - and out of fear, for a Pearl as the public symbol of rebellion next to a Rose Quartz and a permafusion makes quite the impact. Formed without the ability to summon a weapon, she was meant to serve as a scouting gem and entertainment for the military, only to be declared a lost cause when she didn’t pop out on schedule, only incubating for a year and thus severely undercooked. After emerging, Chelsey soon found a love for the Earth and its inhabitants(minus grasshoppers, for reasons she adamantly refuses to state), and resolved to learn all she could about her home planet. Gaining a name and a form to match the brings around her, she explored everything she could find with gusto. Still a newborn in gem’s terms, she’s never met another gem in her life, but wanders ever closer to Empire City, living her life among the humans with contentment. Chelsey knows she’s different, was born with orders and loyalties from the start, but she’s more than willing to avoid her past for as long as possible in order to cling onto her peaceful life with the humans.
