Meta glared at Alex. Then she hovered off the ground again, and glided over to one of the Gem mining-tripods. With a grunt of effort, she increased the power to the jets in her feet and lifted the tripod off the ground.
"You're ACTING like a child, Alex. And I could make you,"
Meta simply held the tripod. After a moment, the entire thing began to glow a dull red. Then the transparant material along its side began to crack and warp. By now, it was bright orange. Meta cracked her neck, and the entire tripod collapsed in a shower of molten metal atop Meta's body, coating her from head-to-toe in molten slag.
"I really, really could."
Meta was still hovering, despite the fact that around a dozen tons of molten metal had dropped on top of her. It had coated her like wax over a mold, the massive amount of excess sitting on the ground in a boiling, lava-like pool that slowly spread, like syrup. Meta shook herself, and the meta covering her body went white, such was the temperature she raised it to, running off her body quickly and joining the rest on the ground below. Meta gestured at the pool, and its spread slowed, then halted, the metal cooling.
"But I believe firmly in free will. I saved your life. I tried to help you figure out who you were. I thought that meant something."
Meta glided back towards them a bit.
"But if it didn't. If you truly wish to be on your own, or join up with this idiot,"
She gestured dismissively at Industrial Diamond.
"I won't stop you. You are, as you've said, your own person. Free to make your own choices. Just consider.... If you die, and your new friend here is even partially responsible......"
She began to turn away.
"I'll melt him down, Gem and all."
