Days were passing and nothing was changing. Crystal gems lived in fear, in unawareness. They had no idea what will strike and when, but they knew that the day of doom and torment would come sooner or later. Back in the forge the swords, shields, some simple machines were being created for the war. Big piles of metal were getting bigger and bigger, only waiting to be used. But was it enough? In certain Pearl's mind it wasn't. He worked as often as possible to
enlarge the arsenal for the rebelion. And then his arm shivered. A brand new sword cut through his small hand, it left a terrible scar and "white blood" was leaking from it. A simple move of this hand hurt as if he was holding a rose full of thorns.
A simple cut wouldn't poof him, but he soon found out that his body really wasn't meant for this. All this work, this scar, it was getting out of hand. The once white toga was now gray due to the volcanic ash, it was also torned in many places. His round gem on his chest always had a small pit, it was an unfinished/undercooked pearl, but it also had some scratches that were never properly taken care off. His dark brown hair was unkempt and uneven. Overall he didn't look like a typical Pearl to say at least. But Light actually cherished those small wounds. It was like a prove of his independence, living against the Homeworld standards. However, some people like his friend Chip started to notice that something was off about him. The accident with a sword was basically the last straw. He couldn't just keep going like this. All those small scars weren't exactly helping him and he started to look... used up. Each glance at a reflection made him feel more miserable.
And here he was now, in Rose's fountain. The structure was said to be filled with the healing tears produced by Rose Quartz soldiers. Those fluids were used like medicine for gems to repair the damaged forms or gemstones. Some believed that they were also able to clear and relax the mind. Pearl placed foot in the fountain to check the temperature before jumping in. He wanted to relax, swim a little, but he kept thinking about the forge, the rebelion, he had to come back as soon as possible.
The place was safe from Homeworld gems after Crystal Gems scared them off, but Light experienced on his own skin that he can still be attacked, even here. That is why he summoned a copy of himself, a hologram Pearl that resembled his design, but was more geometric. The copy wielded a simple sword to protect his master just in case.
