Saki was running. Fast. It's all she'd been doing the past 2 years. Running. Running from the broken gems. Running from Howlites goons. Running from the dark deed that was weighing down on her. She still couldn't get over it. He was dead now because of her. When she met him, she saw a monster. A hideous, evil monster. A wolf in sheeps clothing. But after he was taken, she found people who actually cared about him. Blue Quartz nearly killed her. Howlite's goons followed her for over a year before his money ran dry and everyone moved on. She hadn't even seen her father since Howlite was taken. She was under the impression he'd be furious with her. After all, why would portraits of him be everywhere if he was truly hated?
Fate had a way of bringing people back together. As Saki would walk through the foggy kindergarten a shadow would stand out. The silhouette was the form of the only other gem the same cut as her. Sulfur turned to look at his counterpart emerging from the valleys. He had apparently been there to do no more than brood. With the addition of Saki however, Sulfur did not seem to be totally uninterested.
"Oh? How ironic is it that I meet you in a kindergarten of all places. Considering that you and are all that are left...and that we were not meant to come from places like this. You seem frightened Saki, tell me why you are here. Are you in danger? Or perhaps you just spent too much time comprehending our forbidden existence?"
He turned to face her, an emotionless look on his face. He analyzed her, marveling at the similarities they shared apart from differing colors.
Saki yelped when she saw Sulfur. "Oh I guess theres no hiding anymore. I uh.... I killed Howlite! Oh I'm so ashamed! I was so certain that he deserved to die! He was so awful! But now everyone is after me and you're probably mad too!" The poor girl was hysterical. She looked like if you tapped her she'd break down. Tears formed in her eyes. "It doesnt make any sense to me. Why him? What is it about him? He didnt deserve life. I was so sure of it. The things hed done. A detective had told me all of his deeds. She said they didnt even have a full record of how many lives Howlite had taken. And yet.... here I am. Hunted and persued as if he was some sort of martyr. Please make me understand. I dont want to run anymore. I'm so tired. It's been so long. Please don't be mad at me"
Sulfur's eyes widened, and he grit his teeth. Did he really feel angry after what she had done? After their history the answer was complicated, even he didn't know. He calmed down, letting his ignorance sooth his nerves. Sulfur ran his hand down his neck and sighed as he walked closer. Perhaps he was mad, perhaps she had done a bad thing. In spite of it, Sulfur would just as likely have shattered Howlite had he the chance to do so. Sulfur who didn't get attached to anyone. As he faced her he made a look that couldn't be described as kind or cruel. His neutral expression which seemed his most honest face.
"The Crystal Gems have odd standards for how they determine who should be spared." He explained. "When you act based on people you're attached to, you do reckless things. Howlite sucked up to the crystal gems and I hated him for it. They ruined him. Still, Howlite had a way with people. I believe...at one point he may have had an attachment with me, when that should have been impossible."
Sulfur put his hands in his pockets.
"I digress, when I make clear decisions I consider only the facts. The facts in this case are that you are a sulfur gem like I am. Letting you be shattered would be letting part of myself die, would it not?"
Saki calmed down as her father explained everything. He wasnt mad. That was good. She took a few deep breaths. "Ok.... ok I think I've calmed down now. I'm glad to finally have that off my chest. I think I can finally begin to move on now." Her phone dinged. She took it out and it was an unknown number. Simply the text message 10. Odd. She slipped it back into her pocket. "Sorry about that. Probably a scam call. I wouldn't worry about it. So tell me all about you! I'm sure a lots happened these last 2 years!" Another ding. She pulled it out and once again that same number. 9. She raised an eyebrow. Was this person texting her a phone number or something to call?" She looked to Sulfur. "I'm sorry I'll put my phone on vibrate" she put it in her pocket.
Sulfur knew that something would be off about that. Saki wasn't the social type, and it was likely that she didn't have many friends. She didn't give out her number much either from his assumptions. Junk mail? It couldn't be. He felt his adrenaline rush, perhaps they were about to be in a more dangerous situation. As she kept getting texts it meant only one thing, someone was out to get her. She had a lot of enemies apparently, perhaps it was Blue Quartz? Perhaps it was some Crystal hooligan. Regardless something had to be done. Sulfur pointed at her with a grim expression.
"Oy, Saki. Maybe you should show me what sort of texts you're getting. You're being hunted aren't you? We can't just ignore random texts. Unless you signed up for some odd human service it's definitely trouble. After all I don't keep a phone on me when I'm out, you can be tracked with those things."
He held out his hand. "Pass me the phone, would you Saki?"
Saki didnt think of what it could mean. She handed the phone to Sulfur. It was a beach city area code. Who could it have been? A few messages popped up while it was in her pocket. 8. 7. 6. 5. Saki was starting to get spooked. "What if my phone has been tracked? Wasnt Blue a Scientist? She probably found me! I'm gonna die!" The countdown of text messages finally reached 0. Then an image uploaded to the phone. It was Saki and Sulfur standing next to each other! What could be behind this? Saki started to look around. She couldn't see or hear anything suspicious and yet, something was clearly watching her. Another text image. This time it was of Sulfur's back.
His eyes narrowed when he saw the area code. Blue didn't live in Beach City. Perhaps they were being attacked by a ghost. As he saw the pictures he smiled. That style was familiar, his hunch was confirmed. "Saki, drop to the floor would you?"
This was definitely not just some random gem, this was going to be fun. Sulfur didn't waste time he didn't have. Instantly he summoned his blades, two in his hands, and ten at his back.
Sulfur chuckled and he slowly turned around, the blades started to circle him in a tornado shape. This way he was ready to defend himself or attack. When he came to face his backside he made sure to keep guard up around him in case there had been some elaborate trick.
"So you haven't been shattered... but you seem desperate for me to change that." Sulfur gripped his blades eagerly. "Come on out and let me see you!"
(Ok So Its gonna go Sulfur, Me, Saki, then Variscite when they eventually join in)
Howlite cackled as he made himself appear out of the fog. "Aw I missed you too buddy. Now please step aside. Your little brat needs to learn a lesson about what happens when you don't see things through. Do you have any idea what its been like for me lately? I came back years ago. Ran into Blue. Everything was perfect. Then I wake up in a hole in the middle of nowhere and guess what? 2 years of have passed! Oh and it gets better! I lost EVERYTHING! My money. GONE. My businesses. GONE. I'm sure Blue got over me. I have lost everything that was keeping me alive except for the handful of people I call family. Out of my love for you I will not kill her I promise you. But she will suffer as I have. I am going to tear her apart and you are going to let me Sulfur. Let's not make this any more difficult than it has to be. Your little tricks wont work on me this time. I've figured them out." He took to a purely offensive stance. He was slightly crouched. His hands down low. He looked like a lion about to pounce. "What's it gonna be Sulfur? Dont make me hurt you"
Saki dropped to the floor as ordered. The color drained from her face as Howlite appeared. Not only was he alive, he now had a personal vendetta against her! Then he said something that startled her. "I've figured them out." She'd personally witnessed Howlite seemingly evolve over the course of a fight. He suddenly became able to catch her despite her speed. She certainly would have lost her life if it weren't for Paddy dealing such heavy damage to his already unstable form. Maybe he'd be able to damage Howlite enough. That seemed to be his weakness. His unstable gemstone. She mustered all her speed and bolted to get behind Howlite, leaving a decoy behind. If all went right, they could strike him together. She wasnt going to let this monster hurt anyone else ever again. This time, she would see things through.
Sulfur giggled. Howlite never got cocky before, but now that he had, it was amusing. His swords started to fly toward his gemstone. Were they, retrieving something. Sulfur pointed at Howlite with a sword dramatically, the whites of his eyes showing from his violent smile. "Figured them out? Figured them out?! Oh Howlite you don't realize how much trouble you're in! I've been fighting the Reaper for two years in the desert! I've learned so many 'tricks' since then. I don't care how hard you think you are, I'm going to break you!"
The swords flew over Howlite, dropping...fireworks?
"I would make a threat Howlite, but there's no way I'm going to let you go! No matter how much you plead!"
For a moment one would assume Sulfur had forgotten all he knew about Howlite. Howlite was a masochist who couldn't feel pain, why would fireworks be effective? However, these fireworks burned with larger sparkles and flames than usual. This brand apparently was giving off heat. With that heat, Sulfur had simultaneously rendered Howlite's cold shot useless, and added dozens of heat signatures to Howlite's tracker vision.
Sulfur was surprised to notice something off about Saki. A decoy? It must've been there for some time for Sulfur to notice it was fake. Was she fleeing? Oh, she was...right behind him. Sulfur grunted and fired all of his blades at Howlite.
Howlite grinned ear to ear as he saw the fireworks. This was gonna be fun. Then he heard the all familiar whoosh behind him. He waited until the blades fell and then whipped around and put Saki in a bear hug, letting the blades fall down on both of them. He followed this up with a front suplex, slamming the gem head first into the ground. Then he turned his attention to Sulfur. He returned to his original stance, reading for an opening. Once he thought he saw one, he pounced at the swordsman. If he could get his arms around his waist, he would try to put him on the ground for a good old fashioned ground and pound. Sure it was a risky move but in the eyes of Howlite, the greater the risk, the greater the reward.
Saki was confident Sulfur could best Howlite. She didnt know what a reaper was but he sounded very sure of himself and that was always a good sign. She was amazed by the fireworks. This was it! Then she felt arms wrap around her like a python, squeezing her like a mouse before she was slammed headfirst into the ground. She stayed down for a few moments, her ears ringing and her whole body feeling rattled. She saw Howlite pounce on her father which filled her with dread. She shouted "Dont let him grab you! If he puts his hands on you he wins!" She hoped that would be enough to help him. She finally picked herself up off the ground and drew her blades. She would capitalize on Howlites ferocity by striking him while he was solely focused on attacking Sulfur. She couldn't go as fast at the moment but if Sulfur could just stall him a bit, she could get him.
Sulfur gasped in surprise, Howlite took the hit just to make sure Saki would hurt too?! Sulfur might have been shocked, but he was probably more proud that Howlite would do that. However his instincts were above his feelings, and when Howlite changed targets he had to be ready. The Reaper was a lot like Howlite, it was fast, crafty, and could attack from a range. Sulfur already had a plan when Howlite changed footing to charge. He jumped backward, hovering as Howlite came closer. Would Howlite be able to catch him when he was seven feet off the ground? Perhaps, Howlite seemed faster now than last they met, probably he could do so. At any rate, he was sure Howlite would at least try. Sulfur was in reality trying to bait his off-color opponent. His leap backwards was really not a means of escape, but his body was concealing five blades which shot out from under him. If Howlite took the bait he'd likely be impaled midair, if he didn't Sulfur had five blades waiting to impale him some other way.
Howlite leapt at his opponent, despite the distance he was able to close it. But just before his arms could fully wrap around, 5 swords embedded themselves into him, sending him straight into the ground like a fallen bird. He rolled when he landed to absorb the shock. He stood there with the blades in him like a backwards porcupine. "So you have gotten better. Good for you. If youd been any slower I would have incapacitated you." He pulled the blades out. "Did I forget to mention my gemstone got stabilized? I havent had a chance to test it until now". He took to his fighting stance and pounced again. Only to be stabbed in the back and pinned. Soon as he got his bearings, he weaseled his way under her until he was stomach up and facing her. "You're out of your league". He then bucked her off of him with strength of his back and hips. He stood up and realized he now had 2 opponents that were still not incapacitated. He needed to spot something fast or he was going to eventually be overwhelmed.

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.

*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
