The rumbling sound of footsteps was carried by the wind throughout the desert. Only an hour of daylight was left, casting far and wide shadows from the towering mesas. It was known to seek refuge here, a creature of impressive size, putting the usual surface-level creatures of Earth to shame. It had been a few months since it had made its den here, isolated from any intelligent life for miles. Was it hiding? Perhaps. Or perhaps it was just another mindless beast who had claimed a territory of its own, favoring the little resistance it had put up. It was unknown what it was doing there, or while away from its home. It didn't hunt, it didn't dig. It ran. Running several miles through the unforgiving biome every day, it left a trail of mixing colors in its wake. The purpose for this was unknown. Perhaps it was looking for something, but it was unknown what. It seemed to disregard the presence of any animal or otherwise living being, but had retreated to its den immediately upon contact with any other gemkind without engaging in combat.
Unknown to most observers, this creature was Csarite. The corruption had taken over once again a couple of months ago, following its simple orders on repeat. "GO AWAY! GO AWAY! GO AWAY!" was the repeating command, which it had trouble making sense of. It was the order that Csarite had given it unbeknowingly, and she was now stuck in a dreamlike state where she had little to no perception of reality. The order could never truly be fulfilled, and little could she do to change the command. Her control over the corruption was something she was yet to realize. All she could do was hope that a solution would present itself.
Csarite's corrupted form finally stopped its sprint as it felt safe in the mesa crevace. The red colored rock made a secure home for the creature, and it was here that it ever found peace. The tall mantis-like creature walked through the narrow crevace, leading to a larger hollowed space within. A hidden grove within the mesa's protective walls of rock, blooming with patches of grass and flowers. A pond kept the defiant ecosystem alive, complimented by small bugs finding the place hospitable. Lit up by the retreating rays of the sun, this was home, for now.
